Juro wasn’t sure who let the Digimon secret out, but he was sure that he was going to have a big problem with that person. While some people were able to continue life as normal, it wasn’t as easy for Juro and the twins. Juro’s parents had found out that their son was harboring these monsters in their own home and were not happy about it. After a huge argument, Juro was given until the end of the day to get rid of Dorumon and Monodramon. “I can’t believe this,” he muttered. “You guys haven’t done anything wrong. I don’t see why my parents are so upset. Not like they ever spend any time with me anyway.”
“Don’t blame them,” Dorumon said to his Tamer, a look of sadness in his eye. “They just want what’s best for you.” Monodramon seemed to share his brother's sentiment. The two of them shuffled sullenly behind their Tamer, clearly upset with the whole situation.
“You guys are what’s best for me,” Juro insisted, starting to get upset. Dorumon and Monodramon were his partners. Surely that meant that they would side with him no matter what, right? It just didn't make any sense. “Don’t tell me you’re going to take their side?”
“That’s not what we’re doing,” Monodramon assured him. “We can’t just go against your parents’ wishes, Juro. All we can do is spend the little time we have left together.” Juro realized that this was hurting them as much as it was him. Even Monodramon, who was usually Mister Brash-and-Brave, seemed sullen and withdrawn. Juro started to get a little choked up.
“I agree,” Juro nodded. “Let’s get going.” The three of them went all around Tokyo, doing whatever they could to spend some quality time together. They went and ate together, they went to amusement parks, and they even climbed up to the top of Tokyo Tower.
“Wow, you can see everything from up here!” Dorumon cried, marveling at the view. “It’s a little scary.”
“Quit being such a baby,” Monodramon scolded. “What do you think, Juro?”
“This town is where I’ve lived all my life,” Juro began. “I was always pretty sheltered, you know? This is the first time I’ve ever been to the top of Tokyo Tower, and the first time I’ve seen the city like this. It’s…beautiful.” Their momentary peace was suddenly interrupted by the sound of an explosion nearby. It appeared to be a Keramon wreaking havoc with the electronics in the Tower. Without hesitation, Juro and his Digimon leapt into action.
"Beat Knuckle!" Monodramon shouted, throwing a fist at incredible speed at the Keramon. The Keramon seemed to take some light damage, but then began to laugh maniacally as it charged and shot out a strange burst of light headed straight for Monodramon.
"I've got you, brother!" Dorumon called out. "Metal Cannon!" Dorumon shot its signature attack at Keramon's attack. The two attacks collided and another explosion rocked the tower. It was so forceful that a hole was blasted through the roof, where Keramon attempted to escape. Monodramon wasn't too fond of that idea, so he immediately gave chase, with Dorumon in tow.
"Crack Bite!" Monodramon charged in the air towards Keramon and bit down forcefully on the Virus Digimon. Keramon writhed and screamed before slamming to the ground at the very top of the tower. Dorumon, not missing a beat, used its Dino Tooth and finished off the Keramon, who disappated into thin air.
Juro waited for his two Digimon to come down off the roof. Once they did, the crowd of tourists and residents erupted in cheers for the heroes of the day. Monodramon flexed, Dorumon blushed, and Juro pushed up his glasses as he headed for the elevator. Hopefully no one would try to bill him for the damages done to the tower, since he was so kind as to save all those people from certain doom.
While the trio stood in the elevator, Dorumon looked up to see his Tamer begin to cry. “Juro, are you okay?”
“I’m fine,” Juro lied. “It’s just that I’ve never had friends like the two of you. I’ve never felt comfortable with anyone else the way I do with you guys. Together the three of us can do some seriously amazing things. This decision is tough, but I think it’s one worth making.”
“What decision is that?” Monodramon asked. “What are you getting at, Juro?”
“I’ve decided that I’m running away from home and living with the two of you in the Digital World,” Juro explained, much to the horror of his Digimon.
“You can’t do that!” Dorumon gasped. “Your family needs you!”
“They haven’t needed me since I was eight,” Juro reminded him. “They don’t even care that they’re driving away the first two friends I’ve ever really made in my life. This decision isn’t easy, but I feel like it’s the right one. Let’s go.” Juro walked out of the elevator and waited for his Digimon partners to follow.
After a long walk back to his house, Juro had the twins wait outside in the bushes. He rushed upstairs to his room without being caught by his parents and grabbed everything he thought he would need. Then, just before he climbed out the window, he decided to leave a note.
“Dear Mom and Dad,
If you’re reading this, it means you actually took the time to check up on me. Thanks, I guess. Anyway, I’m just letting you know that I won’t be home for a while. Dorumon and Monodramon need me, and I can’t just let them fend for themselves. I’m sorry to have to do this, but I hope you can understand. Don’t bother looking for me; I doubt you’ll be able to find me. If you ever decide to change your stance on letting the twins stay with me, then I’ll consider coming home. Until then, this is farewell.
Sincerely, Juro.”
With that, Juro let a single tear drop onto the paper before leaving it on his bed and climbing out of the window. He gathered his Digimon together, and the three of them made their way to the river, where their journey had begun what felt like years ago.
“Are you sure you want to do this?” Monodramon asked as they sat at the bank of the river.
“There’s nowhere else I’d rather be than with my trusted friends,” Juro assured him. “We’re partners, and the three of us can handle whatever comes our way, no matter what world we’re in. Let’s head into that next adventure together.” With that final affirmation, the two brothers and their Tamer jumped into the river to begin their new lives as permanent residents of the Digital World.
