Isaac squeezed his eyes shut and prepared to embrace eternity.
And then he was gone. When he opened his eyes again, he found a guardian angel being reduced to shreds in his place. All sixteen of the boy's eyes widened as he realized that, in his place, an innocent had just crushed in the BlackWarGreymon's hands. "No," he muttered under his breath, shaking his head as if trying to rouse himself out of this bad dream. Unfortunately, it wasn't anything to wake up from. The more he tried to process what was happening, the more poor Angemon's data began to break away into the sky. He was dead.
And it was all his fault.
Isaac didn't know why the angel had even done that. It was just a Champion, when Isaac was at least Ultimate. Maybe he could've handled it, and at least escaped with bad injuries. But Angemon? He didn't even stand a chance. The senselessness of it all boiled Isaac's blood. Or maybe it was the fact that someone died taking on the pain he was prepared to adopt. Maybe it was the fact that the sacrifice didn't even slow War down, and if anything could just make him stronger if he chose to absorb Angemon's data. He was useless. Everybody else here was useless. The only real ally on their side was the clock, and it was a capricious ally indeed. Isaac could only hope it wouldn't stab them in the back.
Gallatin tried to rally everyone to knock out a Digimon far above his weight class, despite being not a shred stronger than Isaac was. The desperate Orochimon was tempted to knock Gallatin out himself and spare everyone the trouble. Instead, he settled for sighing heavily, voice laced with venom when he finally decided to start talking. "You can't be serious," Isaac said. "I've fought a BlackWarGreymon just like this before, one that had brought a friend with it too. I hit it point blank with the strongest attack I could muster up, and it didn't even flinch.
Maybe you'll be able to hurt it. But you're not going to be able to kill it. And right now, this isn't Yasuo and Yuudai. This is nothing more than a raging beast. Do you know what an animal does when it's in trouble? It lashes out as hard as it can. These two are tough enough regularly, but when they've got no restraints? Terminus City's gonna be a crater, and that'll be on our hands."
Elliot gently smiled at Kuu as the friendly Digimon attempted to heal him. It didn't help much, but it soothed him, and it was the thought that counted. "Thank you, Kuu. But please, don't do anything dangerous," he said, clearly worried. "You know I've always believed in you, but this guy's two whole levels above you. You saw what he did to that Angemon, right? If he even hits you once, you could get hurt bad or even killed. And I really don't want to lose you, Kuu.
I don't think this is a good idea. If you insist, I'll do my best to protect you. But please, be careful."
