Japan is weird. (Invite.)

    Gallatin walked out of the nearby alleyway after turning off his holosuit. He had used it to disguise his digimon form while robbing the rich restaurant cashier in the rich neighborhood. It was one of his favorite spots he found for getting supply money since they had larger prices in comparison to other branches. Gallatin's process would be he would go up and order something cheap at the register, making sure to give more money to the cashier so that they would get him back his change. While they would get his change, he would stop time and quickly grab a handful of money from the register and pocket it. He could never take the time to check what he grabbed, but this time he got a good haul by grabbing a stack of 10 and 20 dollar bills; totaling $210 in total!

    "All in all, this was a good haul." He said to himself while thumbing through the bills to count them once more. Passing by a post box, he opened it up and dropped an envelope into it before continuing on his way. It was an application to a digimon register and policing organization that he had recently heard of down the grapevine. Sadly, if he got accepted he might not get to receive his income in this "unorthodox" way anymore, but he probably wouldn't get accepted anyway.

    "Meh. Anyway, time to lay low out of my holo-suit for a few seconds so i don't get discovered." Gallatin decided in his head, before sticking the bills in his hidden jacket pocket and heading down the street to find a nice tree or building top to take a nap in.

    "UWAAH!" Gallatin shrieked like a girl, scared out of his wits by the little girl he had fail to notice walk up to him. He stood on one leg, the other bent into his body with his arms splayed outward and raised up; all in all looking like a complete fool.

    After calming down, his heart still racing, and realizing that it was just a little girl; Gallatin composed himself before lowering his limbs back into a regular, though cautious, standing position. "Who is this..." He thought to himself while studying the small child. She was dressed weirdly and looked to be no more than 9 or 10 years old. "I want to say that she's just a random person saying hi to me, but usually what would happen next is i'd let my guard down and end up getting stabbed in some way shape or form before getting my ass handed to me in a Digimon fight." He wasn't going to take the chance this time, nodding to the girl before briskly walking away from her to avoid any further interaction. No getting stabbed for him today!

    However, his sudden movement seemed to jar the inside of his hidden jacket pocket which he apparently hadn't closed with its clasp. To his horror, out of his jacket fell a fat wad of dollar bills. He paused for a moment, cursing in his head at being so careless. Not wasting any time, Gallatin snatched the bills before breaking out into a sprint down the street in hopes that nobody had seen him running away with the stolen money. "Damn it! I was almost in the clear too."

    Gallatin waited for a few moments after running to stop and bend over while catching his breath. "Jeez. That was a close one." He said before raising himself to a full standing position. He looked around the street side to see if there was anyone around so he could transform, when he saw something behind him that was yelling... "God damn it, she's following me?!" Gallatin yelled incredulously before breaking off once more into a sprint. Maybe she was an enemy that was sent to assassinate him and he wasn't crazy?!

    He ducked into an alleyway after noticing the girl quickly gaining distance on him, she was really fast for her age. He struggled to unclasp his digivice from its holster on his belt before gripping it. No time for the fancy evolution times of his strong form. "Spirit Evolve Already!" He said before turning to run farther down the alleyway that twisted at a 90 degree angle into a dead end. He leaped onto a garbage bin, to a trash bin, and finally into the air at the wall of the dead end while slashing his digivice against the fractal code of his hand. He had recently discovered a trick where if he materialized his code in the hand he held his digivice, it minimized the effort and time it took to digivolve!

    A sphere of blue data briefly enveloped him before he turned into his green furred form, Chronamon. Wall jumping off of the narrow passageway, he gained height until he was able to land on top of the building, but not before glancing in the corner of his eye the girl that had followed him into the alleyway. Hopefully she wouldn't try to pursue him further. Plus there was no way that she could even reach the fire escape to the top of the building anyway unless something stupid happened.

    Unbeknownst to him, the shock-wave emanating from his transformation was just strong enough to jar the ladder from the rusted fire-escape when he had passed by; lowering it to a foot or so off of the ground.

    Gallatin leapt from building to building with a few strides. There was no way this girl would be able to follow him now, especially in his digimon form. "Hah! I'm in the clea-" Gallatin didn't finish his jinxing words though, his ankle caught on the edge of one of the building tops. Apparently his little maneuver with the wall jumping had twisted it wrong, because a burst of pain was suddenly sent through it.

    Gallatin tumbled through the air after losing all control of momentum. He crashed into the back of a metal billboard, thankfully his form shielding most of the impact, before being caught in surprise by bouncing off and crashing into a water reserve. The shock of which left him unprotected and, combined with his already hurt ankle, was just enough to surprise him and deactivate his digimon form.

    "Gah... Why?" The now human Gallatin weakly whimpered to the heavens, as if some cruel God had it out for him and was the reason for his extremely bad luck. What had he done in a past life to possibly deserve this, huh?! "Oh wait. I was a hired assassin... that might be it." A voice in the back of his head reminded him of the little info he had once gleaned his spirit off of about his past life. Figures he must have wasted all of his good karma points in his past life and now he gets all the bad luck.

    Nevertheless, Gallatin lay on the ground for a while to catch his breath and wait for the pain to fade away. Besides, he had crossed 4 or 5 building tops to even get here. There was no way a little girl would ever even be able to do that, let alone work up the courage to; so he could rest easy for now.

    Gallatin was in complete shock at this point. "Wait... She really was a regular girl... that was trying to return the money i stole... and i made her follow me onto a building..." Well he really felt like a jerk. he was about to let off a sigh at the fact he wasn't being hunted when something caught his attention.

    This little girl... was crying! "Wait... why is she crying?" Gallatin wondered. He slowly lifted himself out of the water and onto his knees to look at her. She wasn't hurt. So why was she crying. That was when he heard her apologize to him... "O-oh my god. Oh my god..." Gallatin repeated to himself, unbelieving at what was happening. This girl wasn't crying because she was hurt or scared, she was crying because he was hurt and scared! She had been crying for him! A total stranger that he had completely blown off and run away from, was treating him like an actual person and cried for his well being. Usually if he had gotten gravely injured even or knocked unconscious, the people he met in the digital world had all either blown him off or simply not even bothered to ask him or check on him to see if he was fine.

    Upon realizing this, tears began streaming down Gallatin's face in a steady pace. His legs buckled as he caught himself on the ground with his hands, next to her. "Y-your crying for me... Your actually care about how I am! This isn't a joke..." A feeling in his gut overcame him as Gallatin struggled to even look the girl in the eye after how rude and inconsiderate he had acted towards her. "I'm so sorry."

    Gallatin took out of his jacket pocket the money that he had stolen before placing it in front of the girl. "Here. Take this, please! Just please stop crying for me. I-i don't deserve it."

    His heart ached at seeing this innocent looking girl completely and honestly upset about his state of harm. This girl was treating him like a person, even though he was a random stranger. To make matters worse, she had gone through a dangerous path just to return money to him that he had STOLE! All in all, Gallatin felt like shit about now. The tears on his face slowed their stream as he wiped them away on his sleeve. "Wow. Your the nicest person I've ever met, you know that." He said before putting on a tough face to not look as vulnerable and weak as earlier. "I'd just hate for someone like you to get dragged into all of this digimon business." He added under his breath before smiling at the girl.

    "Thank you." Gallatin continued on, standing up on his feet while steadying himself on the wall of a building. He extended a hand to the girl, a friendly smile on his face. "My name's Gallatin by the way. Don't tell anyone this, but that money isn't mine to keep. I'd feel wrong taking it from you, so could you do me a favor and spend it on something nice for yourself. You deserve it after being so nice for me." He hoped she wouldn't beat herself up over Gallatin getting hurt from running away. That'd just make him feel even more awful.

    "And don't worry about me." He added as a side note to clarify. "I'm not that hurt. You should see me after I get into a di-... a fight." Gallatin caught himself. Should he tell this girl about digimon? She looked so young and innocent, the only person that had ever shown unconditional care for him. However, Gallatin knew for a fact that digimon appeared in this city more and more often each day; wrapping people of any age into their heartless world of conflict. Should he? Shouldn't he?

    He let off a chuckle at her question. Did he ever get into fights on purpose? Usually people either attacked him or he was trying to help a "friend" out. There was that time with Dust, but it was pretty justified in his opinion; not to mention he was horribly outclassed. "No, not really. But for the most part I barely have a choice in the matter."

    It was at this moment Gallatin decided. He wouldn't tell her what a digimon was, or else she might get a skewed prospective and try to get one or turn into one. But that didn't mean he couldn't warn her. "Hey Kira. I need to leave to go to a far away place really soon. We may see each other in the future, but it'd be highly unlikely. But before I go, I need you to do me a favor." He knelt down onto one knee so that he was at eye contact with her, looking directly into her eyes while lightly settling his hand on her shoulder. "I need you to promise me that if you ever hear someone say the word 'digimon', be it in conversation or calling themselves one; run away as fast as you can and stay away from them. They are dangerous and could honestly look like anything."

    Gallatin really appreciated her presence and personality, and would hate it to be corrupted like the digital world had with so many others including himself. The life of a tamer was something he would never wish on anyone, especially a sweet and innocent 10 year old like Kira.
