I AM THE LAW. [Takahiro/Alicia]

Oh god why are there so many streets in this city.
Takahiro stops to take a puff from his inhaler. Maybe he should've called a cab. A couple of miles he's had to walk! That's crazy! People aren't meant to walk that far, are they? Bah. No. Nobody can. He must be some kind of ultra-elite athlete after all this walking.
But at last his target is in view. A small house. Well. Maybe the house itself isn't his target, but that's where the target lives! He'd done his research on her before he'd left DATS. Alicia Westfield. Twenty-Two. From a place called 'Houston'. Currently employed as a mechanic. Nothing that stands out too much on the surface, but there must be something special about her. She'd earned some kind of digivice, after all. Not that he had any idea what kind. Is she partnered with a digimon like he is? Able to transform into one like his brother? Leading a whole group of them?
He didn't like the uncertainty of it all. She could have anything in there, and her goals could be anything from destroying the world to baking the perfect cupcake. For that reason alone, he'd've brought Petermon with him even if it wasn't standard procedure. The fairy Digimon is currently stored inside the Digivice IC attached to his belt and concealed beneath his ankle-length black and green DATS jacket.
What? Oh. Dammit. He's been pointlessly reflecting on how he got to this stage too long. Now he's here. And knocking. On the door. Dammit.

That was odd, she wasn't expecting anybody to come over. So who was at her door? Probably some travelling salesman or something. She really didn't want to deal with that. "Hey... Sol, Kisara? Any chance one of you can find out if its someone important for me...?"
"I'll handle it." the dragon spirit quipped as he took his incarnated spirit form and went to the door. Thankfully it had a little peephole for him to look out of. He was quite intrigued to see such a young child with such a firm expression. He didn't have to try all that hard to sense that the boy had a hidden partner right by him. How the Digimon was hidden was a moot point, this was something that warranted action.
"Kid, we got a young boy with ties to the Digital World here. Can't tell what he's here for but you should get over here. It looks like a serious matter."
That prompted Kisara to decide on manifesting as well, pouting. "Young boy? Serious matter? Man people are getting dragged into things at younger and younger ages. I'll see if I can get him to loosen up!"
That sounded like a supremely bad idea, given the mischief she could get up to, so Alicia bolted up to try and grab the ice maiden. Alas, she was just a bit too slow. And poor Takahiro would quickly be greeted by a spectral human in long light blue robes poking her head through the nearby wall. "Hi! What brings you here?"
He knew about Digimon after all, what could this hurt? And she looked different enough from Alicia that mixing them up would be impossible.

Takahiro is about to knock again when he has a minor heart attack. "Gah!" He flinches visibly. Sure. Months of Petermon has gotten him used to intangible Digimon passing through walls at all hours of the night. But that doesn't mean he expects it when he's going on a house call like this. He takes a few moments to straighten his jacket, eyeing the spectral human.
Well. Humans don't typically have superpowers, so the chances are that it's a Digimon. Probably. He reaches under his jacket and pulls out his Digivice IC, holding it up to face the spectre. "Ah, uh. My name is Takahiro Evans. I'm an agent of DATS, and I need to speak with an...Alicia Westfield," What? Might as well just come out with it. Time is money! Or knowledge? Time is...power? Wait, where is he? Is he having a stroke?
A pair of red eyes stare at the spectre from the otherwise-black screen of the Digivice.

"Ah huh. Well she's coming soon. And that's where your partner's hiding? Co-" The ice maiden was cut off, her eyes going wide as she was pulled back through with a yelp. A brief glow could be seen from the window before the sounds of a rather cartoonish scuffle kicked up, loud enough to be heard just barely through the walls of the house.
"Kisaraaaaa! What were you thinking just popping your head out like that!? What if someone else was passing by!?"
"Owowowowow! I'm sorry! It was just a little harmless fuuun!"
"Harmless!? You could give people heart attacks doing that! At least open the door instead of poking through a solid object like that!"
"K-Kid, you really don't have to-" Sol began, trying to cut in. Only to be glared at and shut down, given that he got cut off in the middle of whatever he was trying to say.
"You stay out of this! Why didn't you stop her anyways!?" This had to be so awkward for poor Takahiro, being unwittingly an audience to a particularly bad day in the Westfield household.
"Soooool! Save meeee!" the ice maiden cried out in obvious distress. Given that the noise wasn't stopping, either the dragon spirit was unable or unwilling to directly intervene.
Or maybe he did cut in again. The scuffle finally died down and Alicia pulled the door open soon after, the last vestiges of her mask as SolSaberdramon fading away and basically telling Takahiro and Petermon what her method was if either of them were fast enough to pick up on it. In the background the ice maiden was being cradled and tended to by the armored dragon, the former sporting several lumps on her head and rivers of tears down her cheeks from the whole mess.
"I... I'm sorry about that... dealing with them is quite the pain some time... I'm Alicia, nice to meet you." the redhead huffed out, before smiling and holding her hand out to the boy in a handshake.

Takahiro shakes the woman's hand, peering past her into the house/insanity momentarily. Well. That's certainly interesting. "A pleasure to meet you. Uh, m-my name is Takahiro Evans. I'm with DATS. I'm here to speak to you regarding your, um. Your connections to the Digital World, whatever they might be," He stops holding up his Digivice, although doesn't put it away just yet.
Well. She's certainly made a bizarre first impression. He's not sure whether he should be worried about the safety of the Digimon inside, but he has a feeling there's more here than meets the eye. It could just be playful. Worth adding to the list of things to investigate at any rate.
"I don't want to impose on you, but it might be best if we discuss this inside, ma'am. Or at least somewhere that isn't...quite so public," Usually it's rooftops or the park on a foggy evening. This city has a weird way of guiding people towards dramatic backdrops for conversations.
This kid can't be older than thirteen or fourteen, but you'd never know it by the way he speaks. Ridiculousl. "There's nothing to worry about, I assure you. Um. This is pretty routine whenever we detect a Digivice in use or a Digimon running around," Sometimes a backlog built up, though. Or names got lost in files and...bah. It'd help if they had more active field agents...

"Right. Private. Come on in." Alicia noted with a soft sigh as she stepped aside. The two manifested spirits also moved away, Kisara recovering miraculously quickly it appeared. Being a spirit kinda meant these kinds of things only bothered her as long as she wanted them to. So for drama she'd allowed the comical injuries to stick around for the short time the two were introducing themselves.
Once the boy was inside and they could discuss things more discreetly, she took a seat on a chair and motioned towards the couch, offering it to Takahiro for him to sit in. "Routine. Right. Everyone you go and visit winds up having a freak out incident like this?" she quipped back jokingly with a smile.
Then she thought back to why someone from what was apparently a secret organization involving Digimon would be looking into her. "I think I have an idea of why I popped up on whatever radar you guys have, but just for the sake of being on the same page, what exactly is DATS?"
She'd like to know exactly what she was dealing with here, so that she could respond properly. If they were what she thought they were, though... man they must be severely understaffed.
"A Digimon-centric task force or police is a reasonable assumption, kid." Sol noted, tilting his head.
"Sol, maybe we should just keep our noses out of this?" Oh that was a riot, given what Kisara had just been getting up to. Alicia looked to the ice maiden and narrowed her eyes.
"This coming from the queen of mischief herself? Excuse me if I find you saying that a very bad joke." the scarred woman snipped back at her, prompting some innocent whistling from Kisara. Completely unrepentant from her earlier shenanigans, it seems.

Takahiro sits down, not wanting to be rude (also because hngh...so much walking), and looks around. Yup. This certainly is a house. "Well. Not...all of them, ma'am," Takahiro admits, allowing himself a small smile as he fetches his glasses from his inside pocket and slips them on, "but, um. I've had far worse first meetings," Have you? When?
"Digimon Accidents and Tactics Squad," He considers the name for a few moments. Not the best words they could've picked if they were dead set on an acronym. "It, um. Yeah. A task force, basically. It's out job to make sure that Digimon who cross into the human world aren't causing trouble or hurting people. Or being exploited. And to try and keep their existence a secret from the world at large,"
He takes a deep breath and continues, "I know from first-hand experience that having a D-Digimon in my life has enriched it a hundred times over, but I don't think the world at large is ready to, um. Ready to deal with the idea of a parallel world populated by monsters that could destroy entire cities with little effort. So it's been decided that it's best to try and keep the knowledge of Digimon secret for the time being,"

"That's... There's nothing else they could've used for 'A'?" Alicia asked with a tilt of her head. Then she shrugged and moved on. "Well, anyways, I understand what you're talking about when it comes to holding back the knowledge the Digimon exist... The whole business is still hard for me to swallow sometimes. Especially how powerful Digimon are..."
"And yet where fonts of strength exist there are those who will discover them and turn them towards evil... It is sad that DATS must exist, but understandable. Too many times have people fallen to the siren song of unstoppable power." Sol noted with a sigh and a nod.
"There's not much more to really say on that matter though. So lets get back to business. Ma-" Kisara was again cut off. This time because the armored dragon spirit at her side drove his fist down hard onto her head. "Ow!"
"Alicia and I will handle the recollection this time, Kisara. This isn't like with Isaac and Elliot where you can afford to distort the truth a bit for humor's sake."
That prompted the ice maiden to fold her arms under her chest and look away with a huff. "You're being a real jerk right now, Sol." she muttered under her breath.
"... Try to ignore them, Takahiro. You'll stay sane longer." Alicia noted with a sweat drop running down the back of her head. "I'll just be blunt, if I didn't know a couple people who get themselves in trouble half the time in the digital world, I'd be happy to just live a regular life. Unfortunately for me, I find myself with trouble knocking on the door a lot more often ever since I got this."
With that, she pulled her D-Scanner out and lifted it up for Takahiro to see. No need to hide things after all. "In fact I only stumbled across the Digital World by pure chance. Then tall, gruff, and scaly there contacted me somehow and I've been tied to the Digital World ever since. Can't say I regret anything that's happened though, it certainly keeps me on my toes."
Chuckling a bit, she shook her head. "And the funniest thing? It seems to run in my family a bit. Until a couple years back one of my brothers was actually a Spirit User too. Small world, huh?"

Takahiro's smile grows a little wider, "I'm glad you understand the need for secrecy. I'm looking forward to a day where we can hopefully let the, um. The cat out of the bag, though. So to speak," he listens to the two argue, and only when Alicia holds out her D-Scanner does it click. Could these be totems? Or partners like his brother's pal, BlackAgumon?
"I understand. I hope I don't constitute 'trouble', though," He chuckles, "I've noticed that it, um. Seems to run in families. My brother got his D-Scanner not long before my own Digivice showed up. And I, um. I've met a pair of twins who both had them. My b--uh, a friend and his little brother both ended up with Digimon too," he presses a button on the side of the Digivice in his hand. In a swirl of green light, a slender male humanoid with grey skin, green clothes and a hat appears. It floats there for a few moments before sinking back into the wall and becoming a shadow behind its tamer. "D-don't mind him, he's not the chattiest of Digimon. I guess normal lives are out of the question for all of us once these things show up, though. Um,"
He reaches into his jacket and pulls out a small tablet, "I'm basically supposed to get you to record some basic information and sign an agreement about keeping Digimon quiet, and not running around beating people up with your Digimon. Nothing too...y'know. Involved," he offers the tablet. "It'll stop our system from registering you as a rogue contact as well,"

Alicia shrugged to herself, taking the tablet after she finished listening to him and tapping away to fill everything out. “I’m not so sure that day will ever come. I mean how are you supposed to break it to the world that the Digital World exists? It doesn’t matter what you do or how carefully you manage it, someone will freak out, rumors will spread, and the whole place will be demonized. God forbid there be actual demon-like Digimon, that’d just make it worse. Best case scenario any discovered methods of traveling between the two worlds would be quarantined or outright destroyed. Worst case scenario? All out war, which we both can likely understand will end very badly for us humans, given what abilities Digimon have displayed.”
”It’s unlike you to be so pessimistic, kid...” Sol noted with a tilt of his head. Kisara on the other hand was quiet, but visibly sagging with the Spirit Wielder’s every word. Neither could really contest her though, both knew the scenario all too well.
The redhead looked to the manifested spirits, pausing for a bit. “I’ve had plenty of time to think about it and I can’t see a way it could ever work out well. Can you honestly lay out a plan that’ll account for millions of variables? Even if we manage to keep the Digital World from being demonized, world leaders are idiots and will try to exploit anything if it means lining their pockets with a few more dollars or yen or whatever. That’d bring it’s own host of problems.”
”Yeah... we really are a bunch of idiots, aren’t we?” Kisara noted, and that caused Alicia to freeze, looking at the ice maiden.
“Wait. You used to be an actual human? Not a human-like Digimon?” the redhead questioned.
”Ah... did I never mention that? Well, you wouldn’t understand the explanation anyways so pretend I never implied anything of the sort. Ehehe...” The ice maiden tried to laugh it off. It didn’t seem to be very successful with Alicia at least. That reminded her of something though.
Leaving the ice maiden’s bomb drop for the time being, Alicia turned back to Takahiro. “I suppose since you’ve seen them like this first it’s fine to explain it. They’re the actual spirits behind my totems, not the totems themselves. Normally they just stick to being disembodied voices in my head, irritating as that can be. Sometimes, though, they do this so they can do whatever or speak to people directly instead of having me relay their thoughts.”
Finishing the last of the stuff on the tablet, she turned it back towards them. “I wonder if I’ve ever popped up on your guys’ system before, though. I did have to Spirit Evolve in the real world for the sake of defending myself from cross fire. Now that I mention it, though, I guess that’s what prompted you to come here, huh?”

"There are Digimon you'd consider demon-like or, uh, e-evil-looking," he gestures at the red-eyed shadow on the wall, "Petermon can slide evolve into, um, an undead lion. Or Digivolve into a, uh. Into an insane clown. I've seen what y-you might call 'devils' too," He admits, "but I've also seen angel-like Digimon which could cause just as big a p-problem. People might think they're actual angels or something. They'd hold a lot of influence,"
He sighs. "You're right, it's unlikely Digimon will ever become public knowledge in our lifetimes, if ever. Not unless there's a disaster and something huge bio-emerges in our world. But it's still...nice to think about a day where, uh. Where it's all out in the open. Although..." he grins, "I'd be out of a job before I was fourteen if that was the case,"
Oh dear.
"Huh. My brother wields totems too, but outside of a concussion and a moment of introspection, his don't talk. I think his are just...objects. You're very lucky to, um. To be able to talk to yours," Or something. They seem like winners. Cough. "But it's like you have, uh, partner Digimon like a Tamer. I guess my brother has a Digimon he hangs around with, but I'm not sure it's the same,"
"You did pop up. A while back I believe, but we had some c-computer issues a while back. You got lost in the records. I was trying to restore some lost data when your file came up. I thought I'd, uh, come take care of it and prevent you getting any hastle," He takes the tablet back and makes a few notes on the side. "Do you have any questions for me?"

Alicia sighed softly, shaking her head. “My point exactly... there’s a lot of stuff that would freak people out.” She frowned a bit. “So I’ll certainly hope a day of peace and understanding will come around, but I won’t bet on it by any stretch of the imagination.” That was really all she could do, wasn’t it?
”I suppose at the end of the day it depends on who the truth is introduced to first, and how. Beyond that the variables can’t be accounted for.” Sol noted with a sigh of his own, with Kisara nodding in agreement. ”Still, to think a boy as young as yourself holds such a... sensitive position... at your age. What has this world come to indeed...?”
“Ah, leave it alone Sol, things are the way they are and that’s not something we can waste effort trying to change.” Alicia quipped back, before looking back at Takahiro. “I never thought about it like that. My first few moments with Sol were iffy at best. And Kisara pretty much outright kidnapped me for all intents and purposes the first day she popped up. You can understand how I might be a bit sore about things with them.”
At the mention of her first piece of shenanigans, Kisara winced and shuffled behind Sol to make herself less visible. Then she remembered she could return to being just a disembodied spirit and promptly faded from view. The redhead just rolled her eyes at that particular turn of events. “See what I mean? Sometimes I wish these two weren’t around when they cause problems. At the same time they help a lot so... Eh, it all evens out?”
Alicia hummed after that. “A while huh? Yeah I’m not surprised. Like I said I got caught in cross fire and had to defend myself.” She tilted her head, wondering what, if anything, she should ask the boy. “Not... really? I mean, I’m not all that interested in joining or anything of the sort. And the agreement is pretty much what I’m already doing so no clarification needed there...”
That was when she remembered the state of disrepair her brother’s old Digivice was in, and curiousity got the better of her. “Actually wait, does DATS happen to know anything about repairing old. damaged and/or non-functional digivices? Or replacing them somehow?” She wasn’t sure how much it would matter, since she didn’t know whether Jeremy would be interested in the chance to come back in when it came to Digital World matters. If he was though...

"That's quite alright, signing up as an agent isn't mandatory. This is more-or-less just so we can keep track of who has a digivice or an association with Digimon. It makes it easier for us to identify rogue elements when something inevitably goes wrong," Takahiro sighs quietly. "Bio-emerging Digimon, the occasional malevolant tamer,"
Petermon emerges from the wall again, floating silently behind his partner with his arms folded. His red eyes are locked firmly and unblinkingly on Sol and Kisara, probably just to try and give them the creeps.
"Old digivices? I mean. I don't, um. I don't think we offer it as a service or anything, but if you have...a spare or something, I could take it back to HQ and take a look at it when I get time this week, if you like," Yeah. Give the thirteen year old your irreplaceable ultra-high tech gadget from another dimension. That can't go wrong at all. "Although...other than DATS agents, I don't know many people who have two. Can, ah. Can I ask why you have a second?"

“That’s good to hear at least. Not too thrilled about the possibility. No offense intended of course.” Alicia noted, sighing a bit. “And I’m sure one less unaccounted for variable is a huge relief to you guys as well.” She shook her head to herself at that. “Though… I hope I’m not expected to sit out if something goes down near me. I will most likely act on my own if trouble suddenly explodes on the scene.”
”Oh hi! Been wondering where you went!” Kisara quipped, waving as Petermon came out and stared at her and Sol. The armored dragon just nodded silently to him in acknowledgement. They’d seen much creepier and both had known several silent types so it wasn’t nearly as creepy to them as it would be for… just about any one else.
“Ah, as for that…” she mused softly and pulled out her brother’s D-Scanner. She’d convinced him to leave it with her on the very slight chance she could do something about it but no dice there of course. No surprise given how badly damaged the thing looked. With all the deep cracks running through it and the screen filled with static it was a wonder the thing was even in one piece. “It’s not mine, it’s my brother’s. He’s been out of action so to speak for a while and apparently its wound up in this state despite all his efforts to maintain it. He’s considering coming back now that I’ve gotten involved in the whole Digimon mess if it starts working again. You can understand why I’d like to have someone I can trust so well backing me up, right?”

"Oh, hm," Takahiro eyes the D-Scanner. He nods slowly as he looks the thing over, before holding out a hand, "like I said, if you give it to m-me, I'll do my best to p-put it back together again. I'm actually f-fairly adept at this kind of thing for my age," At the very least he can repair the damage to the casing before returning it.
Petermon doesn't seem inclined to speak, or perhaps he simply can't. Takahiro eyes him before shaking his head, "Don't mind Petermon. H-he doesn't really talk much around other people," Petermon...just floats there. Yup. What a boring partner Digimon!
"I promise I'll return the device to you either way, but at the very least I can, um. I can clean it up a little bit. In all likelyhood though, we'll be able to restore it to full functionality. If your brother decides to start using it again though, please have him contact us so we can register him with our system,"
