"C'mon Galahad! Move those feet! Breath with your punches!" Duncan says just before he demonstrates what he meant. Punch, exhale. Repeat.
He and Galahad were atop an abandoned building, training their hearts out. Duncan had padded 'punch gloves' on and Galahad was in front of him, bouncing nimbly on his clawed paws, punching out different combos.
It was nice, training with Galahad. Now that he is a Gaomon, Duncan's boxing training has really paid off. Everyday they come here and train till they can barely stand. But they both loved it. They had grown to be nearly brothers and Duncan had to admit that he was happy for the first time in a long time.
The door on the other side of the roof starts to open and without hesitation Galahad dives for cover behind a vent. An American steps out onto the roof, dressed in a nice suit and he had an ear piece in. Duncan could tell that he had a sidearm hidden under his jacket too.
"Mr. Van Zan. I need you to come with me to discuss a matter of great importance...and tell your furry friend he doesn't have to hide." The man motions toward where Galahad dove. "I know about Digimon and he is the reason I'm talking to you."
Cautiously, Duncan motions for Galahad to come out. Galahad jumps up and lands on the vent that he hid behind, his nose and ears working their magic to see if this guy was the only one.
"Ahhh, there we are." The man says and reaches into his inner jacket pocket, pulling out a photograph. "Approximately two hours ago the daughter of the President of the United States was kidnapped. We have reason to believe it was done by a Digimon."
Duncan walks over and takes the picture from the man, nodding slightly. "Why do you think it was a Digimon?" He asks, handing the picture over to Galahad.
The Man then pulls a small tablet out, taps a few buttons, then turns it over for Duncan and Galahad to see. It was surveillance video and showed the young girl playing in her room. Soon a shadow of a clawed hand creeps across the floor. It materializes and snatches the girl, then vanishes.
Duncan and Galahad both nod in agreement. "Definitely looks like a Digimon. Let me do some digging and see if I can find it." Duncan says and the man doesn't look amused.
"You will find her and bring her back..or else." He said before turning on his heel and leaving the roof. Duncan and Galahad loom at each other and then walk back to where all of their gear is.
"I hate government spooks." Duncan grumbles, tossing the punch gloves into a large gym bag. He then reaches into his smaller backpack and pulls out an ear piece, placing it into his ear.
"Arrow. I need you to track down any unauthorized Digimon."
"Right away, Sir." A monotone computerized voice says into his ear. Duncan pulls on his shirt, then the long, digizoid lined jacket. Part of the uniform for D.A.T.S, though his is black, red and grey instead of blue, white and grey. He nods at Galahad who is also pulling on his jacket, though with the sleeves torn off it looks more like a shoguns Jinbaori than a uniform jacket. Both of them also have Duncan's spartan/wolf emblem on the back. "Found one. Sending coordinates now."
Duncan nods and picks up his Digivice, which was now enclosed in a black leather case that has a D.A.T.S badge on the outside and a belt clip. He pushes back the left side of his jacket and clips his badge/Digivice combo onto his belt just above his left hip. He slings his backpack over his shoulder and settles his red tinted goggles onto his head. "Let's move Galahad."
With that they both take off down the fire escape. Once at the bottom, Duncan pulls out his determination and follows the directions as Arrow feeds tells them. They arrive at a construction site just as the sun starts to sink down the horizon. ~Great. Fighting an unknown enemy while it's dark.~ Duncan thinks it himself as they both mount a ladder that leads up into the half constructed building.
What sunlight is left in the day, there was even less in here. There were long shadows that were filled with complete darkness. Duncan pulls his goggles down over his eyes and takes his Digivice off his belt, holding it in his left hand. Soon, they can hear the crying of a little girl and start to head toward it.
They arrive in the center of the mass of Steel I beams and could see the little girl. Near her, almost one with the shadows stood her kidnapper. It was Devimon. A champion level, where Galahad was only rookie. Now they had a real fight on their hands and Duncan paused to survey the battleground.
Formulating a quick plan, the step defiantly out into the open. "Devimon! Give us the girl and there won't be any trouble!" Duncan proclaims heroically. Galahad steps forward, his fists raised, bouncing on his paws ready to fight.
Devimon turns and faces the dynamic duo, his face distraught. "She's yours. Take her quick." He says motioning to the sobbing girl. Duncan stares at Devimon for a moment.
"What...?"
"Take her! She's screamed since we got here. I can't handle it anymore! I'm going back to the Digital world." Devimon says before turning and disappearing into the shadows. Duncan and Galahad look at each other, genuinely confused.
"I guess we win?" Galahad says with and the chuckle and Duncan nods.
"Let's go save the damsel, then go grab some pizza."
