Wanted: Alive or Alive [Elliot+Isaac]

Frankly, Elliot had no idea what a freshly-hatched flower fairy knew about Earth and how dangerous it was. He was also pretty sure that, while Earth was dangerous, it didn't include walking nuclear arsenals. It didn't include literal battles between the forces of heaven and hell. Elliot kept his eyes focused on his chest, noticing the faint tracings of a scar where Myotismon's shadow burn had really messed him up. The human world sure as heck didn't have that! Then again, his bad leg? That was from the human world, and from something as innocuous as playing a game with his brother. And that wasn't even getting into what he had learned about dangers, both from strangers and at home. "It's complicated," Elliot admitted. "I'm still less comfortable in the Digital World than the human one. But I'll do my best to be careful in both of them."
The Kodamon's other opinion was far more caustic. Isaac bristled slightly at first, wondering who Suzuran thought she was to dismiss literally everyone else here as weak. Did she even know who they were? Did she see Dualdramon, for crying out loud? It was only when Suzuran mentioned that even she was weak that Isaac stopped bristling and started listening. The Digital World was a scary, dangerous place, and while Isaac and Elliot were always improving, they still had so much to learn. For either of them to rest on their laurels would be a mistake. It was a surprisingly sobering reminder, even if it was delivered in a confrontational and hostile way. It was definitely an odd turn of events, considering that he was expecting a goofy test of strength. Isaac grit his teeth slightly, but nodded. "Like hell we'll rest on our laurels," he said, determined. Nevertheless, he let the topic drop. It would be uncomfortable to fight over it.
At least now the only one uncomfortable was Elliot. He smiled shyly back at Mana, his stance a little bit less rigid. He let a breath that he didn't realize he was holding in escape as he pondered his current situation. "Don't worry, I'm all good," he said. "I mean, it's really nice seeing you again. So I'm not having a bad time at all."
Isaac looked Elliot up and down, making sure that his little brother was okay. Little siblings could be tricky sometimes. It seemed that Mana agreed, if her musings were any indication. "Hey, don't beat yourself up over it," he said. "Not like any of this is your fault. Unless you chose to lose all your memory, somehow. But trust me. If they had a big sis like you, I bet your little siblings would be way too busy having your back to get grumpy."
"They'd definitely miss you," Elliot added, his shy smile becoming a bit more reassuring. "I mean, we're two strangers and we flew around the world looking for you. That says a lot, right?"

As abrasive as the warm-colored Kodamon's speech was, it has prompted both brothers to think rather deeply. Was that her intent all along, even if she had reached that goal just by antagonizing everyone present? Ayaka couldn't quite tell, even if Suzuran's last batch of comments were probably as cryptic as her first.
"Truth is a harsh mistress. Accepting it when it is detrimental to us is the first exercise towards a strong resolve." Laying back on the sauna, she just let the steam cleanse her body and the meditative silence that she had engaged into to do the same with her mind.
And as much as Ayaka was bothered by her older sister's confrontational attitude, she had to admit that her words had wisdom to them, and that Suzuran was sharing it with them for a reason. "If I did not know any better, I would almost dare to say that my dear sister has enough appreciation for you to actually impart knowledge with her words instead of being exclusively hostile." Despite her knowing that her twin wouldn't react to those words, she found the notion amusing.
She wasn't one to beat a dead horse, though. Especially since the atmosphere had changed from confrontational to somewhat... melancholic? Man, who'd say that so much stuff could go while inside a sauna. Especially when that involved Mana getting somewhat sad again. Not like she could be blamed, given how not remembering wasn't her fault.
The redhead in question let out a sigh before half-forcing a smile. "Not being aware of so much stuff I should be aware of sucks, you know? It's almost like watching the first minutes of a movie, then skipping right to the climax." In more than one sense, it frustrated her to no end. "But I'm happy to have met you both, especially since that probably wouldn't have happened if I hadn't lost my memory. Guess every cloud has a silver lining, after all..."
Those probably wouldn't be seen among the steam and the sweat, but the girl's eyes began to water down ever so slightly at the sauna, and her voice soon following suit. "Th-thank you, guys. Really."
Ayaka could just observe the situation, not really sure on how to react, and probably not being the one that had to. Waking up alone, with most of your memory as a blurry mess must've been stressful, and even despite her outward cheerfulness, those cracks were more or less bound to show sooner rather than later. If anything, she was glad they had done so near people her partner deemed as close friends. She was in good hands.
One detail would soon be noted by Suzuran, however. They had almost remained for half an hour in the sauna, and that probably was way more than somebody unexperienced at them should stay. She made a quick mental note on the humans out before soon, or the consequences could be harsh on them.

The slightest hit of a bitter laugh escaped from Isaac at the last of Suzuran's wise words. Harsh truths, huh? Isaac sure as heck knew a lot about those. There were the little ones. "You're probably done with growth spurts," for instance. There were the bigger deals, like "We're moving halfway across the world on a whim." And then there were the ones that explained everything, whether Isaac wanted them explained or not. "You're not even my damn son, why should I care?" You know. That kind. Needless to say, this wasn't exactly advice that Isaac needed to be told a second time. The conversation was over, though, and Isaac wasn't about to restart it. This was supposed to be relaxation, not griping, so why would he bother dragging up issues that Mana didn't even know about?
At least Elliot wasn't mulling on this, easily distracted by a rather sweet thought from Ayaka. "Aww, thank you!" he said, grinning at Suzuran. See? She may've been bitter, but that didn't mean she was all bad! Some people could just be prickly before someone properly got to know them, that's all. Isaac was like that, for example, so Elliot already knew to be patient with that kind of person. "We'll keep it all in mind for sure."
Maybe part of his relief was because of the smile on Mana's face. Elliot sometimes missed the forest for the trees, and right now he saw a smile and figured that everything was all good. That changed pretty quickly once the tears started pooling in her eyes. Maybe that could've been water due to the sauna, but water didn't really form there, right? Besides, with how hot was, it was way more likely to fog up! What naivete couldn't help Elliot understand, early-level science classes obsessively fixating on the water cycle could. His voice softened as he turned back to Mana. "I'm really glad we could help brighten things up for you," he said, thinking slightly. "I know this has to suck a lot. But we'll help however we can, okay? And . . . I'm really happy I met you, too."
Something sparked in Elliot's eyes. He clearly had an idea, even if what it was he wasn't about to say yet. However, it probably was just about time to. Isaac coughed slightly, causing Elliot to look down and realize he was turning as red as a lobster. This time it wasn't blush, either. Immediately Elliot stood up, fumbling to make sure he didn't slip on the way out. "Was wondering when I should've said something," Isaac admitted, glad that he had caught onto Suzuran's puzzled looks. "Heh. We're gonna look like messes after this, aren't we?" Nevertheless, the two boys began their exit, Elliot far more slowly and carefully than Isaac. Stupid leg.

That had actually been resolved... way more peacefully than what Mana had originally expected? That was a relief; even more friction being the product of Suzuran being completely devoid of tact and empathy wasn't something she was looking forward to, especially amid of what probably were her closest friends.
Not like she had much time to think about that, however. Right now, there was just this... bittersweet feeling? She didn't know how her past self would've behaved right now, or even if she had been a half-empty or half-full type of person. She wanted to ask herself so many questions and not find just a blank space for answers. Deciding to rein herself, she began to calm down; a long sigh escaped her lips, the forced smile that had previously adorned her face becoming a little more genuine.
"Guess I just have to... deal with this. It's bound to end sooner or later, right?" She wanted to believe that. The mere notion of never remembering was just too frightening for her to face; enough to make a shiver run down her spine, despite the sauna's temperature. "You've already done plenty to help me. I really... don't know where I'd be without you, yanno?"
She truly didn't. But that was not something she was willing to elaborate on at the moment. Mostly because... she too had realized too late that they had remained for far too long inside the sauna. If her cheeks were able to redden even more than what they were, it'd probably be a feat in itself. Promptly, she began to make her exit. her partners following behind her. "I think lobsters are going to get jealous at how red we are gonna look."
The fact that they kinda were in a hurry would interfere with their immediate ability to make plans, but as soon as the two faeries and the three lobsters emerged back from the changing rooms...
"So, what now? I don't think I'm up to much after this. I had no idea saunas could be so draining."

"You're remembering stuff now," Isaac pointed out matter-of-factly. "Not just remembering old stuff like your name, but also learning new stuff too. That counts for something, right? I bet when this is all done, you're gonna have twice as many memories as you did before." Memories didn't work that way at all, yet Elliot found his brother's statement inspiring nonetheless. The elder of the two had a way with being quick on his feet with words, even if he could be blunt sometimes. "I'd just see how it plays out naturally. That's worked well for you so far, right?"
Thankfully, the sauna didn't leave much long-term pain, even if Elliot and Isaac were quite itchy after the fact. It stung just the tiniest bit putting their shirts back on, but such was life. It'd be nice if this didn't mean they'd have to head right back out into the blistering sun, though. Elliot was already dreading that part. What he wouldn't give for a giant, floppy hat right about now.
"Cooling down, probably," Isaac joked, honestly lost on what to do too. Between the hard talk and the heat of the sauna, he was totally wiped out. Weren't these things supposed to help you relax? "Pretty sure the second we touch the sun, we're gonna pop into ash. Think there's good food around here so we don't have to go outside?"
"I think just falling asleep'd be nice," Elliot mused, a yawn sneaking its way out of his mouth in mid-sentence. However, he perked up a little when he remembered that he totally had a good idea. "Oh! Hold on a second," he said, rooting around in his backpack for his adventure journal. Once he found it, he neatly tore out a little sheet of paper to start writing on it. He folded it and handed it over to Mana, smiling. "Here's my number. This way, if you ever get reminded of something, you can call me so we can talk about it. I always feel like talking about stuff helps me learn it better, so maybe it'll help you out too! And, I mean, it's always cool talking about new stuff. If you want to, of course."
Isaac couldn't help but grin a little. There may've been a few holes in his plan, but at least his little brother's heart was in the right place.

Mana had no idea clothes could feel so uncomfortable. Goodness gracious, it was cotton, not sandpaper! There wasn't much she could do about it, except for her to bear with it; well, at least feeling grumpy was better than just feeling sad. Both faeries looked entertained at the individuals, apparently suffering no ill effects from the prolonged exposure. The redhead concluded in that the duo must've been made of pretty tough stuff.
She giggled at Isaac's joke; yeah, cooling down was probably a good idea."Maybe just have a smoothie or something? This place must have a bar somewhere or something. Not gonna lie, I'd dive head in a pool of ice right now." Mana wasn't sure on how beneficial would that be, but she was up to try anything that'd ease this feeling. Elliot's own idea was also a good one, though; this day had been plenty long already."Or we can part ways, that also works! I... think I'm actually starting school again tomorrow, so there's kinda that. I hope I get to look like a normal human being instead of a lobster tomorrow, though!"
But then! Then Elliot had the bestest idea ever. Trading telephone numbers; why hadn't she thought about it? That was brilliant! After receiving the piece of paper, she brought one of her own and began to scribble on it. The result was one that had two numbers, as opposed to Elliot's one. "This is my phone and my D-Terminal address! If you ever wanna talk about something, feel free to hit me up, okay? Hope I can be there for you jus' like you've been here for me."
Maybe this was the temporary goodbye? If it was, at least she had her fair bit of fun.

Elliot's smile widened as Mana gave her contact info back. Frankly, he'd expected her to just text him in a few days or something, not respond with double the contact info. This was probably a way better idea, too, considering that phones didn't really function in the Digital World. "Sounds good to me!" he chirped, immediately jotting down his own D-Terminal address to hand back to her. "I'll make sure to let you know if my bro and I end up having other cool plans around here. I know today took a lot out of you, but I still owe you that world tour!
I think I can hang in there for a smoothie if you are, though," Elliot said, Isaac pumping a fist in vindication. With how cool looking a lot of Digital plantlife was, he could only imagine what the smoothie bar here would be like.
Thankfully, to keep the ingredients in good condition, the smoothie bar was a lot cooler than the sauna room. Isaac practically sighed in relief as his wild-looking red and blue swirl arrived, pressing it against his neck to feel how cold it was personally. At this point, all of that cold was like heaven. Elliot opted for the more subdued approach, resting the back of his hand against the green and orange concoction he had ordered up. "See? Told you guys this'd be a good idea," he said, too busy using his smoothie as a rest aid to even bother sipping it.
Elliot was a bit more talkative, at least. "It's really cool that you're starting school," he said in between sips of his own smoothie. "I think we'll be in the same classes, too!
You excited for it?"

A bright smile was the redhead's first reaction to the boy's gesture. She took the new piece of info, put it along with the old one and nodded right away. "Sounds good to me! I'm game to any cool plans you might have! I don't think I'd have any problem on reaching most of the Digital World unless it's Luminas or something of the like, so count with me!"
As enticing as the idea of them finishing their trip around the world was, they probably would have to do that last one in bits. Because of... responsibilities. Why kids had to have responsibilities? That was kinda unfair! Right, better if she didn't deviate from the main topic. To the smoothie bar!
Mana didn't know so many tropical fruits existed. Heck, she didn't know if most of the things her smoothie had could be found in the Human World. But that didn't matter, the whole thing was delicious!
Even if not as delicious as the notion of getting back to school. "I know I have to learn and become a productive member of the society and such, but I hope I can make lots of new friends on school. And hopefully avoid the bullies. I actually don't remember much about the whole ordeal, but it was... fun, I guess? And who knows! Maybe we'll be classmates or something! Wouldn't that be nice?"

"Yeah, once you get a handle on the Trailmon schedule you can get to pretty much any city you want," Isaac agreed. Sure, it wasn't perfect. There were a lot of times the trains got delayed due to the various troubles that arose from every one of them being sentient. Several other times, he was knocked away by larget Digimon just because humans were small and powerless. Man, Digimon could be dicks sometimes. "Anything else, that's what Devidramon's for. I swear, that thing's like a living bullet." If Isaac wasn't so overheated and exhausted, this conversation would've done an amazing job at making him want to go for a soar. Thankfully, today he would be a lot more restrained. Besides, flying would be more fun down the road, when it'd be to take Mana on a brand new adventure.
"I hope we end up in the same class," Elliot admitted. The school campus needing to account for basically every grade meant it was kind of hurting for space building-wise, so each grade ended up with very few distinct class groups. Sure, it made the rooms kind of cramped, but at least it made Elliot and Mana being in the same classes a lot more likely. "You're gonna love it there. A lot of the people are really nice. And I mean, there's some bullies, but you fit in a lot better than I did. So I bet you'll be okay.
"Not that any have given my bro trouble in a long time," Isaac said, the slightest hint of pride in his voice. Who cares if it left the covers of his books warped? Taking action to protect his little brother was more than worth it.
Elliot tried not to look too embarrassed at that fact, even as a small smile of gratitude spread across his face. "There are a lot of clubs, too, so you'll have lots of chances to find out what kind of stuff you like. Anything come to mind yet?" Elliot asked, wondering if any of these activities would help spur some of Mana's missing memories.

The mere notion of winding up in the same class as what at this point was pretty much her best friend was something amazing! Even the smallest hint of familiarity in that... alien place was something she'd be very thankful about.
But that wasn't a reality yet, and just getting her hopes up to end up disappointed was something that would be... awful, in that honesty. So better to just dismiss the topic for now instead of counting her chickens before they hatched. "I just hope to have a good time there. Or at least something better than just sittin' in an apartment, doing nothing. Knowledge isn't going to enter my head by itself, I think." Not to say that probably, some memories could spring at an activity that pretty much... every person did? She was decently hopeful at that one, for sure.
Speaking of which, the topic of clubs made her feel... funny. She let out a pensive hum before speaking. "I think... I used to like sports?" It didn't take a genius to guess that one. Just taking a look at the girl was enough to tell she was athletic at the very least. "I don't know... maybe a team sport? I think I don't like individual sports, but who knows. Guess I'll just... take a look."
Thinking about it a bit harder, she added. "I have this vague memory of a pretty nondescript ball flying in the air, but that can be pretty much... anything, right? Well, except bowling maybe." She smirked at her own remark, but decided to not to think about it. "What about you guys? Do you fancy any clubs? Or even the student council? That one would be a surprise to me, honestly!"
Especially in Isaac's case. In Elliot's it was still somewhat unlikely, but at least possible.

"Good call," Isaac said, smirking a bit. "You'll have plenty of time for sitting around in an apartment doing nothing later. Once school starts we call that summer, and it's the best." Mana was totally ruining the summer experience by cutting ahead of the line! Then again, it wasn't like Japan's summer break was as huge and uninterrupted of a chunk as the US'. That was one thing he missed dearly about the states. At this point, everything else he could take or leave. Or leave, in the cases of certain men who were not to be named.
No surprise Mana was into athletics, judging by the shape she was in. Then again, Elliot and Isaac hadn't exactly been slouching on that front either. They were too busy focusing on not burning to a crisp to notice, but all of their time in the Digital World had been quite good for their fitness. Maybe it was the fact that, as Spirit Users, they were routinely throwing themselves in the face of death and danger, in the process working out muscles that they didn't even know they had. Just as sufficiently bad wounds carried over in somewhat dampened form, it seemed like sufficiently intense fitness carried over to a small degree.
How much of a better shape would they be in if Elliot hadn't been incapacitated? He smiled somewhat sadly as he mused on that fact. "I miss sports, sometimes," he admitted, making sure not to steal too obvious of a glance at his leg. "Think I would've gone after soccer a lot more. These days, it's mostly video games for me, although the clubs for those can be a bit . . . intense." And sometimes uncomfortable! No wonder Elliot was a bit of a homebody when it came to games.
"Hey, it totally could be bowling," Isaac joked. "If everyone playing was awful at it." Seriously, if a bowling ball went flying like that, someone could get hurt really bad! "I kinda feel like you're the soccer type? Don't get baseball vibes, at least.
As for what I do? Well, believe it or not, but I've been going into theater lately," he admitted. "Always kinda wanted to, and finally worked up the guts to go for it. Can't say it's been going bad so far!"
Wait, what was that last thing? Isaac laughed a little, shaking his head. "Hey, now, why's that a surprise?" he teased, giving Mana a gentle elbow.

Mana couldn't but to agree with Isaac. Vacations were nice and all, but if you didn't have anybody to spend them with, they got a bit... depressing. Loneliness could do quite a bit of work on your psyche, and even if Mana had the company of her partners and she appreciated them, they sadly couldn't substitute human contact. For that reason, maybe... she would like to have a couple more friends? Those would be nice.
At the mention of sports, the redhead was a bit quick to notice Elliot became a little sad at it. She guessed it was understandable, even if that feeling was a bit contagious, and especially the fact that this was a topic that kinda... interested her? Mana didn't know why, but apparently, she liked sports a fair bit. Was it almost like a discovery about something she liked all along? This was so confusing.
There was something she wanted to ask Elliot, though. "What about something like... literature? Or even music? I mean, I don't know if you can do art or play an instrument, but I guess that's always a good choice if you wanna do something after school and videogames aren't your jam." Truth to be told, she wasn't even sure what peeps could do in a videogame club.
That line of thought of interrupted by Isaac's words, had that been... "Wait, are you implying I was awful at bowling? That's so mean!" A fake pout ensued soon enough, even if it was replaced by a small smile "Soccer, huh? Well, if you say so, maybe that's the first club I'll try. Who knows, maybe it'll be fun!"
Color her surprised, theater? That was really interesting! "Oooh. An actor? That's interesting! Do you already have plans to act in a play or something? Because I wouldn't miss that for anything in the world!"
Maybe she had hit a nerve when she mentioned they didn't belong to the council? Isaac seemed to be pretty casual about it, but it was almost as if he wanted to pick up on her. Crossing her arms, she smiled. "Well, unless you're political masterminds that have been deceiving me all this time, I think you're more doers than thinkers, and wouldn't really spend hours discussing stuff like the yearly budget and those things."
This was probably treading into even more muddy terrain, but that was just how she felt. And her smoothie was already finished, so she couldn't distract herself from that one. This prooobably meant their time was at an end, but that wasn't that big of a deal. Getting distracted while inside the sauna notwithstanding, she had a lot of fun.

"I mean, I've been writing on my own time," Elliot admitted, sounding somewhat bashful. "It's just silly stuff for now, though." Lets see. What else did he like to do? It'd be way better to talk about that than let the topic of his silly writing settle. "I've been really enjoying my science classes, too, so once I get more used to the school schedule here I might join some clubs for that." See? At least Elliot could be smart on top of being a huge nerd. Definitely a huge nerd, though, considering where those interest lied. "I'm also pretty big on cooking. Although Isaac's been stealing my thunder there, with his new job and all of that."
Oh, Elliot had to go there, didn't he? Isaac blushed a little, quickly coughing before Mana could ask about where he was working. "Maybe that's your unfinished business. Get good at bowling, and then you can get your memory back," he joked. "Still, glad to hear you like the idea. Maybe when you're captaining your first game, Elliot and I will pop in to cheer you on."
At the actor question, Isaac shrugged. "Next one being put on in school, you can bet I'll show for it. 'Til then, don't really have any preference," Isaac said. "Elliot and I put something on around the Village of Beginnings sometimes. Nothing fancy, basically just a bedtime story for the hatchlings. But I mean, hey, practice is practice. And it's great seeing them react." If anyone gave off the good babysitter vibe, Isaac was not it. However, with the genuine joy about what he did in his voice, maybe it wasn't such a weird fit after all.
"Oh, I wouldn't doubt Isaac if I were you," Elliot joked. "For all you know, this could be the first step in his campaign. Make a new friend, show her all around Japan, get his first voter. He's really good at playing the long game."
Isaac gently punched Elliot on the shoulder in response. "Ah, c'mon, you know I can't plan more than five seconds ahead," he joked back.
"Yeah, I guess you're right," Elliot said. "I bet if he had any long-term planning, he would've picked a way less ridiculous way to meet Maia." The Isaac blush was back. Why did Elliot have to love that story so much?
"Still, you're right," he admitted. "I might be more of a thinker than Isaac, but we both jump into the fire pretty quick when we need to. How about you? Which do you think you are?"

See, that was a pretty interesting hobby! Mana's eyes immediately flared with curiosity at the mention of Elliot's spare time activities. "Well, if you don't mind, I'd love to read some of your stuff! Any genre in particular you enjoy?" Maybe she was being a little too... overwhelming? She had to no idea, to be honest.
The redhead wasn't as big on sciences, but as long as Elliot found a club, that'd be okay, right? She didn't know if Americans valued the feeling of belonging as much as Japanese, but she figured that question wasn't for now. Especially when so much information was being pumped into her system. "New job, you say? And related to cooking, to boot? Guess you work on some sort of restaurant or something? That must be pretty interesting! Hope you're having fun there."
She couldn't resist the urge guffaw at Isaac's remark on bowling, deciding to take the comment in stride. "If that's the case, maybe I'm that awful at bowling. Isn't there an easier way to get my memories back? Because that one sounds a little too difficult!" Mana wasn't getting ahead of herself, however. "No way I'm captaining a team, not that fast, to be honest. Guess I'll play it by ear; I don't think I'm the leader type anyway. Still countin' on you to cheer me, though!" Then again, who knew.
So, Isaac was an aspiring actor, eh? That was something the girl wouldn't have guessed at plain sight; guess she was doing wrong at judging a book by its cover? She couldn't but to wonder what other surprises the bros had hidden. "Sounds like a lot of fun! I can imagine the small digimon being all big-eyed and excited at you telling them stories! I didn't know you had it on you to be that fatherly." Now, she was obviously teasing him, but he probably would take that one in stride.
At this point, either of them being into politics was a big no-no, even if the jokes about that fact were abundant. "I think I need to be at least... five years older in order to vote? I know that playing the long game is a valid strat, but... isn't this a little too much?" She giggled. "Also, I think you need to be Japanese to apply for anything remotely important in here, so that can be a bit of an issue. Sorry for shooting you down."
Frankly, it didn't take the girl much time to respond to that last question. "Guess it's kinda obvious, isn't it? I don't fancy thinking all that much when things can be solved with action! More often than not, that... kinda aggravates the two silent ones over here, but I guess I deserve that. Or not? I mean, planning can get so boring at times!"
It wasn't characteristic for Ayaka to perform Suzuran's trademark "hmph", but that situation was probably one of the few to prompt it with just reason. Not like she was angry or anything, but sometimes the girl was a little too reckless.

Oh god, she was actually interested. Now Elliot had to make it sound like he wasn't just writing a bunch of lame stuff. "Not sure yet," he said, flicking through the increasingly long list of stories in his head. "Usually heroic fantasy stuff. But I've been trying to branch out more from that. Like, I've been having a lot of fun working on a mystery lately. Even if I'm pretty sure Isaac already guessed the killer . . ." As he trailed off he shot his brother a quick "no spoilers!" look, earning an eye roll in return.
At the restaurant comment, Elliot grinned mischievously. "You could say that," he said, teasing a longer explanation that Isaac had promptly shut down.
"Yes, it is," he said, thanking life for coming up with the concept of the half-truth. "Although its mostly drinks and decorating I do, so it's not like I'm stealing Elliot's thunder. Just making the finished product look a bit nicer. It's certainly been interesting so far. I'd say it's fun, yeah."
After a nice laugh, the bros listened to Mana's thoughts on captaining the soccer team. It didn't seem her style. Maybe she was another one who wouldn't be running for student council. "Well, hey. You've got time to figure it out," he said, wondering what sort of position Mana would eventually settle on. "Smart choice counting on us, by the way. Elliot's always able to find us the best seats, so we'll be right there in time for the action." And so, there was the one perk of having a bad leg.
Fatherly? There was a first time for everything! Elliot couldn't help but laugh good-naturedly, while Isaac looked somewhat taken aback. Once the compliment had time to settle, however, he owned up to it with a proud grin. "He's been keeping my butt out of trouble for years, so he's had practice," Elliot joked. "Not that we had much practice for The Knight and The Serpent. That was just off the top of Isaac's head."
Isaac huffed a little at realizing that, yeah, politics really wouldn't work out here. "Eh. Something tells me actors going into politics isn't usually the case, anyway," he said. " 'Least not in most places. Hoo boy, does the US get weird with it sometimes. Still, maybe all that's just another part of my long game?" The mystery! The suspense!
It was all undermined by his laughter at Mana's last observation. "Preaching to the choir," he said, the grin on his face turning devious. "A plan's only fun if you throw it together last minute. Then it becomes a challenge."
Elliot rolled his eyes at that. "And this is why I've had to drag him out of trouble at least twice a week," he explained.
