A Storm in Server Forest [Open]
|
Post by Rinji on Mar 5, 2017 21:47:31 GMT
The wind swept the forest leaves, rustling them in their dense canopies. The clouds brutishly locked out any rays of light, and the first raindrops of a storm fell upon the rich earth. And this was likely going to be impossible to sleep in, figured Rinji. The Scolomon was fruitlessly trying to stay dry, by clinging onto the upper branches of a particularly thick tree. Normally, at this time of dawn, he'd be soundly asleep underneath a leaf pile - but if he'd do that today he'd soon find himself washed away by the oncoming rain.
He heard a crackle of thunder from overhead, and almost fell off his branch from surprise. His 13 pairs of legs just managed to dig into the wood, preventing him from twisting upside down and falling off. He groaned lightly in exasperation; if the storm became too fierce, he'd have to descend from the trees or risk becoming totally roasted by a lightning strike.
Another flash of lightning came and circuited the clouds in the distance, and about 6 seconds later, he heard another roar of thunder. That would be 6 miles away, then, if Elecmon's lesson about thunderstorms in The Village of Beginnings was true. If it came any closer, he'd have to climb down.
The flashback to Elecmon's lessons reminded him of his past. Sometimes he found himself lost in thought about the village, and whether Nyaromon would still be there, or if she had digivolved and left already. He'd been living in the forest for long enough - she had probably forgotten all about him by now. He wondered what she would have digivolved to, but shook himself out of the thought. It wouldn't do any good to keep dwelling on her, she was gone now and wouldn't have anything to do with him anymore.
He still had a storm to wait out. Hopefully, it would be over soon, he mulled.

The brewing storm hadn't gone unnoticed to other inhabitants of the Server Woods. With no strong gales to torment those on the ground, Mother Nature was trying her very hardest to compensate by turning the downpour up to eleven. Within minutes after the stormclouds had gathered overhead the forest floor had turned into a swirling stew of mud and branches, the occasional smaller Digimon sprinkled in as they were holding on for dear life.
Without a doubt Pipmon had been among them, were it not for the fact that he was safely tucked away inside one of the hollow tree trunks still standing upright and thus was mostly shielded from the elements. He was not one for constant worry about the fate of those he could not save, being very much aware of his own limits. But with the recent trip to Luminas City behind him, the rodent Digimon couldn't stop himself from actually doing whatever was within his power. And so he descended from his hiding place, the vine he has used to climb up now treacherously swinging from side to side. But just as it seemed like he was about to make it without any incidents the roaring of a thunderstrike caught him off guard and he came plummeting down to the ground. Over the howling wind rushing through the trees it would be very hard to hear the string of rather colorful phrases which followed.
With a scoff and the last of the swears long since faded, he wiped most of the mud from his eyes and muzzle before scouting the area up ahead. The early morning sun was incapable of -quite literally- shedding any light. If it hadn't been for the fact that he was considered a nocturnal species he might as well have given up at this point and made his way back to the comfy shelter. The shapes were somewhat blurred but still distinguishable or at least visible. And as he scurried across the soggy soil he could already make out what no doubt Digimon, most of whom had either already made their way to a save spot up in the trees or simply didn't seem to be bothered much at all by the conditions.
Hadn't it been for a screech in the brush he might have seriously reconsidered his efforts here.

A scream broke through into the howling gale, blending into the harsh whistle of the wind. If it were not for the strange and muddied rat digimon scrambling haphazardly through the swampish ground, the Scolomon would have thought nothing of it. Strange noises caused by hollows in the wood were nothing uncommon here - but something didn't seem right, and Rinji peered further down from his makeshift perch. He could just about make out the situation: the unlucky digimon wasn't quite trapped in the mud, thankfully, but it seemed perfectly capable of climbing a tree and escaping.
Surely this digimon couldn't have made such a terrifying noise?
He almost dismissed the notion that the screech was nothing more than a strange anomaly of the wind, but just in case, he dangled the front portion of his lengthy body from the branch and twisted it to get a better view. If anyone had cared to watch, he would have looked like a strange mix between a snake and a praying mantis. He bobbed his head sideways in an attempt to see better, and twitched his antennae in annoyance. Oh, why did the rain have to dampen his senses so, - quite literally.
It was only when another rumble of lightning that illuminated the overcast clouds, and thusly casted a brief glow onto the dark earth, did he make out a form in the brush, right beneath the tree he was currently sheltering upon. Had it been trapped? This tree had nasty thorn bushes at the base, he remembered. It had scratched his armour on the way up. Any digimon without suitable protection or an attack that could free themselves would be endangered, and with the rising water levels it wouldn't look good for whoever was in trouble. The rat digimon was also close now, and from where he was, it almost seemed to be searching for the source of the noise. Rinji's worry increased greatly over this, he had no clue of what the Digimon's intention was. Some digimon had no qualms over hunting fellow 'mons.
Without a second thought about the ferocity of the storm, he twisted fully around into a U-turn, and crawled seamlessly back down the trunk of the tree, ready to offer any help to the potentially endangered digimon he could. And if the strange digimon had less than pure intentions - hopefully deter it with his presence.

Pipmon had the greatest of troubles making his way through the mud by the time he had reached the brush, only to find that the thorn bushes weren't exactly there to welcome him. Because his was not a species known for their combat capacities it soon became clear he had to make up his mind on whether or not he was going to abandon the search, for if he continued he would surely meet said thorn bushes up close and personal. But the whimpering of whomever had screamed now clearly audible over the storm. And so with his trusty wooden sword at the ready he started to cut away at the thorns, slowly but surely making his way towards the source.
Halfway through the bushes he had already started to regret the fact he had not taken his time to assess the situation. He could have fashioned himself a makeshift armor with some grass and bark, but no, he just had to be concerned first. The scratches and tears in clothes and skin alike were the just punishment for his rash behavior passing for heroism. Just as he was about to lose it and have a major sulking session right then and there, Pipmon could see something further in the brush: It was bright red, at first glance appearing to be a small toy ship. But as he got closer and saw the extension in the form of a fluffy -yet soaked- tail he knew what he was dealing with. A few more cuts and the frightened toy was freed from its thorny constrains. Now the next issue presented itself. The rodent Digimon was easily dwarfed in size by most Rookies, so much so that he was only a good inch or two larger than your average baby Digimon. Moving the object out of here by sheer force alone was out of the question, so there was only one option he could think of on such a short notice.
...
He simply got back out and watched closely to see what would happen. The toy ship had stopped trembling and kept itself from making any noises at this point, doing whatever it could to look like your average plaything instead of an obvious Digimon in peril. But as the minutes went by and the water started to rise, it seemed like it was finally ready to give in. There was a small puff of smoke, leaving a Relemon where moments before was only the oddly tailed ship. It tried to avoid all eye contact with the Pipmon as it hopped out of the bushes, the first tears already starting to well up in the corner of its eyes. Not long after, it promptly burst out crying, loud enough for a good section of the Server Woods to hear.

The insect digimon watched the tattered Pipmon closely as it began cutting through the bramble, to what Rinji could only guess was a red toy. Had he been mistaken all along? It seemed as if the other digimon had just lost their plaything, and certainly wouldn't have been large enough to prey on any digimon higher levelled than a baby - maybe the scream had just been the wind? But instead of carefully making his way back up the tree, the Scolomon flattened himself against the bark. He may have been a bit too... red to really blend in, but he wanted to be completely sure this digimon would be alright in the retrieval of its toy. It looked massive compared to its owner, who reminded him of a particularly irate resident Chuumon that had given him a stern telling-off when he took them for a regular forest rat.
The struggling Pipmon was getting cut quite badly by the thorny stems, and he considered offering to help, although the digimon seemed quite keen on doing so by itself.
It was then that the Pipmon backed off from the toy, unfortunately too large for it to lift. The storm was also worsening, and the wind battered against Rinji's armour. It practically threatened to peel him off the tree where he clung to. Realising that it would be too dangerous to try to vertically cling to the soaked bark for any longer, and assuming the little digimon could use help before the storm became too fierce for it, he clambered down from the tree's trunk into the drenched undergrowth of the forest. Thankfully, his many legs allowed him purchase on the soggy ground and his red-plating shielded him from the brush - resulting in little more than superficial scratches from the thorns.
However, just before he could reach the toy boat through the bush, it vanished in a puff of smoke, and a familiar fox digimon ran away from him towards the rat digimon. The Relemon wailed in front of Pipmon, so loudly in fact that it almost hurt Rinji's hearing. He recoiled, not just from the noise, but from the guilt of having spooked the poor digimon - who had already been traumatised by the extent of the storm. It briefly casted a glance towards him, then continued its crying. His guilt rose like the flooding of the water, and he approached slowly. Rinji felt desperately the need to apologise, so maybe that the digimon would understand that he didn't mean to scare anyone. "I'm so sorry! Please don't cry," he consoled the Relemon, before he addressed the tiny Pipmon as the storm refused to let up. "Are you okay? I came to see if you needed any help," he had to yell to be heard above the wind and pouring rain - or else it would have drowned out his normally light and mellow voice.
They would really have to get out of the storm soon, and Rinji knew just the place.
"I know somewhere you can go, if it's okay for me to show you to it. It's a while away but safer than here," he explained, conscious of the way the lightning danced in the sky. It had come a little too close for comfort. The cover of the trees would be incredibly unsafe with so much electricity in the sky - turning the normally wooded haven into an accident waiting to happen.

Relemon would bawl nonstop, by now it had no doubt alerted those within the next few acres of their presence. It wasn't helped the sudden approach of Rinji. No matter how pure his intentions might have been, the baby Digimon simply refused to look past the appearance of the Scolomon. To make matters worse, it decided the best course of action was transforming into a spiked sphere to avoid any harm coming its way, although with its puffy tail still present. It would refuse to move on its own from then on, leaving Pipmon as much bewildered as he was getting annoyed at this point. The storm was still raging with no end in sight anytime soon. He turned towards Rinji and for a change decided to forgo the introduction rituals as he cut straight to the chase.
"It would be better not to go along with the antics and just make sure we get there safely." He yelled back, his voice high pitched and laced with worry. "We'll see how we get it to calm down after w-.." His features twisted as he was interrupted by the weeping Relemon, only to take a deep breath and pick up where he had left off like nothing had happened. "-.. after we've found ourselves some shelter to sit this weather out." As he spoke his paw was tightly clenched to his hat, a gust of wind more than once trying to fly off with it. Most of the mud which covered him shortly after touching down had been washed away at this point, revealing that it too had a need for more stitches much like his tunic did. "Now if you would lead the way, I'll see if I can get the other half of us moving along." And with those words, the Pipmon used his other paw to grip the base of the fox Digimon's tail and went through great lengths to drag it along, leaving him weezing and robbed of his breath after no more than a few yards: As much as he hated to admit it, this was quite the skilled Relemon, for at this point if it hadn't been for the tail he might not have been able to distinguish it from an actual cast iron ball if going by weight alone. "A.. a little help.. might be.. in order.."

Rinji's antennae flattened when the Relemon refused to listen, instead opting to turn into another object, one which upset him as it still feared him - a reaction not aided by the relentless flashing and thundering of electricity, serving to strengthen Relemon's resolve of firmly remaining as a steel dead weight.
Pipmon was definitely not happy being out in this weather with the stubborn digimon, and the Scolomon waited patiently as he struggled to move the metal mace, only serving to muddy himself further. The scene looked almost comical, he thought disparagingly. That is, before the Pipmon rasped, 'a... little help... might be... in order.' Immediately springing into action at the request for help, for Rinji would hate to leave him struggling alone, he swiftly twisted the back 'head' of his body and plucked the ball and Pipmon from the ground using his back legs. Then, carefully, he lowered them on top of the front portion of his armour plates, where the shoulders would be if he were a human. The Relemon wailed further at this dismissal of its defence, but still refused to change form. He would normally ask for permission to do something like this, but in the current situation, as Pipmon's urgency had implied : there simply wasn't time. With an unsure mutter of, "hope you're comfortable up there," he lowered his head to the ground and began 'walking' to the place he had in mind at the fastest pace he could manage. The speed of this pace however was probably more akin to a jog, though the ride would be smooth due to how each leg of his body moved: in a rippling motion, much like a real world centipede. In only a short while, Rinji had found the place he'd been looking for: a set of stone steps, where mossy clumps grew between the cracks. These steps lead up to a strangely placed mini-waterfall, with a holy shrine in the middle. Right now, it was overflowing from the downpour, ruining what would otherwise be a serene site. He kept his pace, until abruptly but smoothly halting next to the waterfall. It was still overflowing, but the mossy rocks prevented water from pooling at the bottom. He turned his head back to the two digimon. The Relemon, by his great surprise, had actually transformed back into its normal form for now. It was currently enraptured by the shrine, staring at it with bright blue eyes, attention no longer focussed on the Scolomon. He was in no real hurry to ponder this as the rain drenched them, although the storm wasn't quite so bad here. It almost seemed to respect the shrine itself. "There's a sacred cavern behind the waterfall, but I need you to hold onto me and Relemon before I try crossing these rocks through it," he didn't want them falling off when he would cross through into the falling water.
Then, with a quick lunge, he crossed the rocks and leapt through the waterfall.

Pipmon couldn't react -let alone catch his breath- before both he and Relemon were swooped up by Rinji and taken along for a surprisingly smooth ride. Meanwhile the ball-turned baby Digimon had the greatest trouble in the world accepting that its defenses had been beaten with such ease, doing whatever it could to inconvenience their ride: From extending its barbs in order to penetrate the Scolomon's plated cover to shifting into different -and heavier- objects, it was out to punish the frightening 'assailant' by any means necessary. A goal it quickly realized it had to give up on, for aside from the fact that it did seem to have the impact of a wet sock, it did actually seem to hurt the other Digimon riding along with them. And while he didn't look too trustworthy on itself, at least Relemon knew who it would rather be stuck with.
Childish behavior could be accepted from what was basically a child, but Pipmon still had a hard time coping with the fact that it wasn't until they arrived at shrine he had to deal with such a tantrum. But as Relemon eased and decided it was safe enough to marvel at the sights their new location had to offer them, he took a deep breath and turned a new leaf. They all had been frightened when they were younger, and it was normal to be suspicious of new and unfamiliar faces. Especially when they had an odd sense of humor. Caves and waterfalls? Crossing them? Ha! It isn't like he was actually going to do something like that. Right? Right!?
...
Dripping from head to toe, Pipmon had to admit when he was wrong and people were indeed going to go ahead and put their outrageous claims to the test. Well, at least Relemon seemed to enjoy the fact they had just gone ahead and dove through an actual waterfall, taking all the risks short of taping electrical equipment to their bodies. In a high pitched female voice, it finally decided to speak the first words in their presence.
"Again, again! Can we pleeeeeeeease, monster-kun?"

Light shone through the crashing water into the cave, and the resulting spray caused it to split off into a multitude of colours that projected itself onto the cave's walls. No matter the weather, this phenomenon could always be observed, hence marking the caverns as 'sacred' by ancient digimon. The rainbows eventually faded as the cavern bore deeper into the rock, leading off to unknown passages. The Scolomon had no idea of where these passages led to, but the cavern would make a good shelter from the storm.
Meanwhile, droplets of water slid off from Rinji's carapace, added to by the drenched fur of Pipmon and Relemon. Thankfully, the two had still managed to stay aboard, despite the sudden deluge. It had been raining anyway, and he was just glad to be somewhere dry for once. He was just about to check on the state of the Relemon, when a voice he'd never heard before came from the small fluff ball.
Rinji was taken aback; that was the last thing he'd expected! She wanted them to do it again!? And not only that, but she had called him 'monster-kun'. Jumping through the waterfall again would surely be too dangerous, but Rinji found himself facing a dilemma. The Relemon... was adorable.
With no idea of how to approach this request, he looked to the Pipmon. "W-what do we do?" Rinji was hardly anything more than a child himself, having just left The Village of Beginnings. He'd always been the one that needed caring for, and never had any experience with younger digimon. But the Relemon's puppy eyes were getting to him, and he desperately wanted to please the little digimon, or at least avoid upsetting her again.
These caverns may be sacred, but no one truly knew where they lead to or what dwelled within. For everyone's sakes, it would best if the Relemon didn't start crying, or worse, run off and get lost.

Even those as dense as a Blastmon would be able to read Pipmon and come to the conclusion that he wasn't exactly up for another round, no matter how much wailing would follow. Despite being a Rookie just like Rinji, he was closer to an old man in personality than anything, and surely would be able to produce some complaints of his own if that would ever be a requirement. He kept quiet for now, just blankly staring further into the cavern system. Raised underground from birth, he had very few issues as he took in his surroundings, making sure there was nothing or nobody waiting and ready to pounce on them.
Relemon meanwhile had dropped the 'tough' act entirely, just bouncing around as she kept on pleading for more entertainment. Grumpiness and fear had given way to seemingly boundless energy and a motor mouth to match. Nobody could blame Rinji if he had sooner rather than later complied just to get to stop banging on about it. To no avail, mind you, because now that she had gotten just a taste there was no way she was going to give up on it so easily. "Monster-kun, monster-kun! Again! And then we can go back to swimming! I got stuck earlier while swimming. It hurted! But it was also fun, I know that!" More and more details, questions and playful demands were fired at the Scolomon, all within a single breath -or at least as far as Pipmon could tell-. At least they wouldn't have to worry about Relemon running off and getting lost because she was scared. If anything it was because she alone could power Terminus City and standing still just wasn't as much fun as exploring would be.
By now Pipmon wept inside, the headache called forth by the energetic baby Digimon being one for his own personal record books. And yet he kept his thoughts to himself, knowing full well that he wasn't going to accomplish much by voicing them. "Just go ahead and have fun, you two. I will just.. check where we are to go next." And with a strained smile the rodent wandered further into the darkness, making sure not to rub his temples while he was still within hearing distance.

Having been effectively abandoned with the Relemon, Rinji searched frantically for something that could distract the ball of energy. Hopefully Pipmon would be back soon, and not get lost... or abandon them. He wouldn't do that, would he? Surely not, otherwise he wouldn't have tried to help Relemon in the first place. Did Pipmon know Relemon beforehand, or had it been a random act of kindness? Perhaps there was more to the inconspicuous rat digimon. He'd have to ask when he came back.
Relemon, meanwhile, was still rambling on excitedly, her energy seemingly having come from nowhere. Her endless chatter was almost starting to give him a headache; he wasn't used to dealing with this much energy. Whoever her normal caretakers were, must have a lot of patience.
"You got stuck while swimming?" Rinji asked out loud. Getting stuck in a muddy tide of leaves and rain didn't sound like much fun to him, and he sure didn't want to go back through the waterfall into the storm again either. So Relemon liked water... what could he do? He couldn't swim, so that was out of the question.
But, there were lots of puddles on the cave floor. With an idea forming in his mind, Rinji went and tested the largest puddle's depth with the end of his tail. Then, suddenly, he smacked it down into the water, sending splashes of water at Relemon. He smiled at her, hoping she'd understand his game. "Bet you can't make a bigger splash!"
With so many puddles, they could play here all day if they wanted to.

With Pipmon out of the picture, Relemon's energy seemed to wane for just a moment before Rinji had proposed a challenge. She puffed up her cheeks in a fit, her face turning beet red from the effort she put into not yelling that he didn't stand a chance. All the effort was put into showing instead of telling, however, as it wouldn't be long before a now bouncing ball shaped fox was splashing around, the moment before impact briefly expanding to at least five times its usual size. "Beat you!" She cried over and over again, not even looking to make sure she was actually winning.
Meanwhile Pipmon was making his way deeper into the cave, the yelling of the juvenile Digimon long since left behind him. He might have had felt bad about leaving the other stranger to take care of her, but unlike him he actually didn't seem to be able to resist her charms. That and he had never actually gotten along too well with those younger than him, simply because his existence up until now had basically been one glorified babysitting service. That didn't mean he was above the rescue of anyone in need that wasn't clearly out to add a few bytes to the waist. The rodent Digimon sudden;y cut the inner monologue short, frozen in place as he perked his ears.
...
Was that a growl?
Now moving forward in tiptoe, he slowly made his way towards what he assumed was the source of the sound. After a few dead ends and having returned to the same spot more often than he would have liked to admit, Pipmon finally found out what he was looking for, and surely wanted to get away from: Beyond the next passage was a subterranean lake, where the coarse rock of the cave made way for polished marble tiles and pillars. But even the gold trinkets and other riches scattered about could not lure one's eye away from the master of this domain, the large dragon Digimon curled up in the lake as it slumbered. A Majiramon! Aside from the occasional plume of smoke erupting from his nostrils, it seemed to be at peace, and it surely wouldn't appreciate getting disturbed.
...
Relemon!

I'll leave it up to you what you want Relemon's next actions to be.

Sure thing!
-
When Relemon had turned bright red from strain, Rinji couldn't help but worry; had he done something wrong? But then, the roundish fox digimon had leaped down into the puddle with the force of an asteroid. Rinji was soaked. And - he couldn't help it - laughing childishly at the silliness of it all. Of course she won their game, but it wasn't about competition, it was about fun! And Relemon was definitely having it, with the way she danced and cheered for her own victory. "You definitely did win, Relemon!" He replied happily, affirming her victory. It was a relief to see Relemon wasn't scared anymore, even if she was a handful; but that was just how young digimon were, wasn't it? He'd been like that too, before he digivolved. The fluff ball, meanwhile, was still jumping up and down excitedly.
"Can we go swimming now, monster-kun? Since I won, and you lost!" Begged Relemon, having stopped jumping up and down, and who was now looking up at him with wide, pleading eyes.
"Uhhhh... shouldn't we wait for the other digimon? I think he'll be back soon." In reality, Rinji had no idea when Pipmon would be back - or even if he would come back. Granted, he hadn't been gone for long, but Rinji had to trust that he hadn't left them alone like this.
"Mmmmmm....." Relemon puffed up again, looking as round as a ball, "then let's go find him! Then he can swim with us!" She exclaimed with all the force of her held breath. "This way!" She bounced, using her tail like a wound up spring and jumped ahead into the cave, still chattering about swimming
"W-wait up!" Relemon was fast for a digimon with no legs, and Rinji needed to follow her closely; he sincerely hoped that they didn't get lost, and would run into Pipmon sooner rather than later. It was getting darker the deeper they went, Rinji noticed. He was nocturnal, and the night normally comforted him, but there was such a thing as moonlight. The darkness in this cave, however, felt empty and oppressive; leaving his visual senses next to blind. Before it could get even darker, the passage opened up into a small cavern. Tiny shafts of light filtered through the ceiling, illuminating fields of gems. Pipmon, however, was nowhere to be found. Although the gems were beautiful, they were certainly lost.
"Look monster-kun! So pretty! Can we take this one? No, wait, this one! No! This one!" She was racing around the room, changing her mind as quickly as what could be fathomable, until she eventually settled on the largest crystal of all.
There was no way they could carry something that big! It was at least the size of an Agumon! "I don't think I can carry that..."
"Yes you can! Monster-kun is strong!" Well, he figured he could try and carry it on his back... maybe it would be lighter than it looked? Of course, he had no clue if it was, or how much the crystal was truly worth. Alright, might as well try. He grabbed the crystal and pulled it with all his strength. "Yes! Go monster-kun!" He heaved and heaved, as Relemon cheered him on, but it was firmly planted into the wall.
"Ugh," he landed on his rear, exhausted from trying to pull the gem from the cave's hold. It hadn't budged at all. Then, he noticed there was a puddle forming underneath it. "Uh..."
"Yes! We can go swimming!" Relemon laughed, splashing in the newly formed puddle. The water was leaking from behind the stone! Then, as if on cue, the wall behind the pair burst open, huge masses of water escaping from the other side of the cave. The only thing Rinji could do was yell as he, and Relemon, were swept up in it. The whole passage was almost underwater as it carried them down it.
Little did they know, that the water was draining from a colossal reservoir, and was now being quickly redirected. Redirected to a certain subterranean lake that just happened to be in the wrong place. And carrying Rinji and Relemon with it.

Pipmon stood frozen in place, sweating bullets like he might have done only once before. But where before there had been a Digimon easily capable of wiping him off the face of the servers like a speck of dirt, there had at least been some sort of moral compass which had kept it from doing so. Meanwhile Majiramon was of a species known to be either incredibly lazy or extremely efficient, not bothering with anything which wasn't included in their short range of interests. A range which in this particular specimen's case included sleeping. An activity which could be rudely interrupted by another particular specimen. A particular specimen the rat had foolishly lost sight off.
Please no..
The spell broke and as fast as his little legs could carry him, Pipmon skittered back towards the entrance, only to find it completely abandoned. Feverishly he looked around for any clues whatsoever, only to settle on the trail of droplets Rinji had left in his wake after being bombarded by Relemon. In such a hurry he almost tripped over his own feet twice, it was inevitable: As the water had now swallowed the passage and the room beyond it completely, the rodent Digimon couldn't bring himself to slow down in time as he followed the literal dots and came to a splashing halt. A brief flailing of limbs followed before the knowledge on how to swim kicked in, and Pipmon hurried to get back on dry land. Great. Now there was also the possibility something had come out of the water to make their way over to where Rinji and Relemon had been and it had been what had left the trail.
...
Majiramon let out a stiffled yawn from behind his paw, his powerful form stirring as for the first time in days he had taken the effort to do something other than sleep. As he gradually became more active the golden antlers on top of his head started to illuminate the cave, growing ever brighter. By the time he had swam up to the temple of marble and gold they were so blinding that the light nearly pierced all the way down to the bottom of the lake, although the dragon Digimon payed no attention about what might lurk there as of yet. On land his movement was even more sluggish, taking his time to appreciate the trinkets and stacks of precious digizoid gathered around him. His hoard was impressive to say the least. And despite his lackluster appearance he would defend it with tooth and claw against anyone foolish enough to take his valueables. Or those who could potentially take them from him.

The water carried the two down the subterranean hallways, and Rinji, in his splashing and attempt to find Relemon amidst the current, could've sworn he'd seen Pipmon. He didn't have time to contemplate this, however, as he managed to grab something in the water with his legs. Relemon! Not wanting her to get bashed about in the make-shift underwater river, he curled up around her.
His hard exoskeleton made an excellent shield as the water twisted and turned through the corridors, bashing both of them into the corners. Already disorientated, Rinji felt as if he was falling all of a sudden. One huge cannon-ball splash later, and both Relemon and Rinji floated up to the surface of a lake. Both of them were left gasping for air, albeit Rinji managed to recover the fastest.
Relemon was still panting badly, but she also seemed surprisingly unharmed - a huge relief. Wanting to get to shore as quickly as possible, Rinji gripped the little fox digimon by the fur with his mouth and wriggled to land.
"Th-that was... fun," panted Relemon, looking pleased yet exhausted. Rinji, however, was more at awe by where they had ended up. They were still underground, but the lake they had landed in from the waterfall, was filled with precious digizoids and gems - and a massive Majiramon! It was currently at the other side of the lake, and hadn't noticed the newly created waterfall, thanks to Rinji and Relemon's handiwork.
He'd never seen such a high level digimon before, and knew better than to take any of its treasures. "Re-Relemon, I think we should -" she was gone. How had he lost track of her like that? Looking about in a panic, he finally spotted her hopping away - towards the Majiramon and its hoard. Dreading what the little digimon was thinking, Rinji raced towards her, hoping to stop her before the dragon could notice her. If Majiramon were to be provoked, it would take a miracle to save them.
