"'Try,' huh...?" She looked up and down at the device on her wrist. She wasn't sure how to make it react to digimon in any sense. There were buttons on it..., however, she'd never think pushing button would cause it to react to someone. It should do that on its own, right?
Mana's translated words indicated that Rina would have to have not met the digimon yet. However, as far as she could recall, from the moment she acquired the device, she hadn't met anyone new. "...---!" except for the trio standing in front of them!
...---But wait.... Did her digivice react to them at all? ...Maybe...? As she thought back about it, she was never paying any attention to her arm when she approached Mana's group: when she ran towards them; when she waved; when they all stopped to chat. Maybe, somewhere in there, it 'reacted' and she just didn't notice.
...That said, she met Mana's digimon partners now, so would it even react anymore? What happens if you've already met them? Rina wondered about that as she eyed her digivice again.
".... Okie-doke.... Might as well give it a shot." She then looked at Aya, approached her, and then held out her digivice-wielding arm in front of Ayaka to see if anything would happen - to see if a reaction of some kind would occur. What kind of reaction would it be? An alarm? Would it vibrate like a game controller? Would something show up on that mini screen it has? Rina was curious to find out, whatever it is.

If knowing how a digivice worked was some kind of exact science, Mana surely wasn't an expert on it. But... what could go wrong? It wasn't like Rina's digivice would suddenly combust or something of the like, right? Hopefully, it wouldn't...
With an encouraging smile already plastered on her features, the redhead watched as her new acquaintance tried to make the device work on Ayaka, who just stood there with a polite expression, almost as if waiting for something to happen. And, of course, somebody was already grumbling. "This is a waste of time. Why are we doing this?"
Her usual sour disposition was probably magnified with these events. From the top of her head, she could imagine at least ten things more entertaining than just watching how another young human fought with those devices. Oh well; with any luck, this would end soon. "Wait a sec, Suzu! I think something's happening!"
Of course, her human's usual reaction was just to dismiss her with a comment tangentially related to her questions. It was a bit bothersome, but what else could she expect. "I think the digivice's reacting! Is it, Rina?" Turning to face the device's screen, the excitement began to build up. Maybe they had gotten the digivice to actually work? That'd be great!

"Hm?" Rina took her eyes off of the digivice as Mana spoke, only identifying 'Suzu,' 'digivice,' and her name. Hearing it from Aya, Katrina became confused, because as far as she could tell, nothing was happening with her braced wrist device. "I don't see anything happening, no...." She crouched. ".... ...I wonder if it has to be turned on or something...."Initially, Rina didn't think pushing buttons was a way to make it work, but if the device needs to be turned on like other electronic devices, that was another story, altogether. Out of curiosity, pushed the button that looked like a red Power button. "!!""OH!"Almost instantly, the digivice's screen lit up and flickered into activity! "...? Huh?" Gazing at the screen, "...There's a sprite on the screen...." Rina could see a character sprite transitioning between two animation stills, repeatedly - a 'stationary' animation. After a moment of thought..., "...Is that supposed to be Aya...?" The screen also showed a triangle flashing on both sides of the sprite, as well as above and below it. "...Huh...." In the ways of today's modern human world, Rina was easily able to discern the directional pad from everything else and use it to navigate the screen. Pushing towards the left, revealed a word on the screen: 'KODAMON' "...---!! OH~! So you're 'Kodamon'?" She paused momentarily before continuing on. Pushing left once more showed the following: She scrolled to the left once more and got Kodamon's sprite again. "Oh, okay."She pushed down this time, getting an almost identical sprite. "Oh...! I guess this one's 'Suzu,' then," leaving off the '-ran' because it was easier for her to say, this way. Left - a second time - showed the name 'KODAMON' again, and Rina paused at that.... "...." She quickly figured they had the same name because they were of the same species - which also lent to the reason behind them having individual names for themselves. "! Aaah," she said quietly to herself within earshot of everyone else. She nodded softly to her, proceeding on, expecting to see the same information on the next screen. But to her surprise, something was different: " ...Okay, so I'm gonna ask, now: ...What's this stuff about?" pointing to both the 'Virus' and 'Rookie' on the page. Her eyes had a hint of concern veiling over her curiosity. She had no idea what the text meant, and wondered aloud, "Does it mean she has a virus...?" They were digital creature, after all; it seemed like a definite possibility. Lammon could have answered this one, but seeing as the question wasn't directed to her, she'd let the human and her translator handle it.

It took her some time, but Rina seemed to finally be getting a hang of how to use her digivice. Awesome! Apparently, the problem all along was the device had been... turned off all along. Sweat-dropping at the development, Mana looked at the events that unfolded with excitement. "Awesome! Seems like the digivice's working now!" The look of surprise on her face was making this be worth it. Soon enough, Rina even discovered her partners' species!
Ayaka on her stead smiled at the teenager's progress. "Correct. The species of my current form is referred to as Kodamon." Pausing for a bit, her smile grew a bit wider when the device was pointed at Suzuran. "As well as my sister's, as you have found out. But, as you have seen, we are not identical." While Suzu remained apathetic at the development, her sister proceeded "I will try to keep it simple." Ayaka said, thinking a bit about the way she'd go through this. "Digimon have a series of features that identify us; among them, one is called attribute. The three most common are Vaccine, Data and Virus, even though others exist; a digimon's attribute can be an indicator of its usual behavior, with vaccines behaving a bit righteously, viruses being on the aggressive side of the spectrum and datas pretty much on the middle of the spectrum. Of course, this isn't set in stone; polite viruses and aggressive vaccines are known to exist in smaller quantities. My sister's a pretty good example of it, actually."
"Hmph." Being a textbook example wasn't perceived as much of a compliment for Suzu, but she majorly let it slide... for now. Now that that was covered, Ayaka continued. "Level, on the other hand, is a rough estimate of how strong a digimon is. As far as I know, there are seven levels. From weaker to stronger; Fresh, In-Training, Rookie, Champion, Ultimate, Mega and Super Mega; digimons on the same level should more or less a similar amount of power. As a digimon digivolves or devolves, it can progress or regress on this scale."
Sighing softly, the Kodamon ended up her explanation, to which Mana soundly capped. It surely sounded detailed! With any luck, Rina would understand it.

"Ooo~...!" Rina was impressed and clapped along as well - not wholly because Ayaka explained well enough for her to understand most of it, but also to simply join in with the clapping, itself, finding that mildly amusing. Lammon's stubby little arms were 'crossed/folded' as she listened in about polite virus-types. Ayaka considered Suzuran to be a perfect example of such digimon; Lammon wasn't seeing it, as she mumbled to herself, "What about her is polite...?"Back to Rina, after the clapping: "I actually kinda follow that, now. ...So it's kinda like a video game, then - like, with personality stats, battling, building up skill levels, and transforming into stronger forms, right?" That was her conclusion to the explanations. " Wait, I've never heard of a video game, either; what's that, now?" Lammon looked extremely puzzled; she understood what a 'game' entailed, but was clueless about 'video games,' entirely. "Huh?" Rina noticed Lammon's confusion and explained. "Uhm~.... It's, like, ...---where you use a controller to play... games... on a video screen...?""...? A controller...?""...A remote control? ....? ...---an~ input device?"Lammon finally reacted to 'input device' showing that she understood that much. As such, Rina decided to re-iterated her explanation, using hand gestures to help illustrate things. "So yeah: you use a small machine with buttons on it to input commands and make fun things happen on a video screen. ...."Rina, in thought, tilted her head slightly. "I still don't think I'm explaining it well, but they're really a lot of fun to play...!" She folded her arms. "...'wish I had one to show you, but I left my stuff on the plane.... ..."

Seemingly, Rina had understood Ayaka's explanation, mostly because she decided to clap alongside Mana. That was awesome. "Seems like you were an excellent teacher, Aya. I'm proud!" If plants were capable of blushing, the Kodamon's face would undoubtedly shine in a bright red shade. Alas, that wasn't the case. "Thank you. I am glad that you found the explanation helpful, Miss Katrina. If you need for me to explain anything else, please just ask."
Suzuran, on her stead, had caught Lammon's initial reaction to her being called "polite" all too clearly. She gave three steps ahead and stared at her peer; if looks could kill, the poor lamb-like digimon would be sprawled on the floor right now. "Did you say something, mammal? I am afraid I could not hear you. Mind being a little clearer?"
Maybe Ayaka was giving her sister too much credit on being polite. Oh well! It wasn't like that statement would cause too much damage, right? After all, it wasn't like Suzu would truly harm Lammon, right?
The whole conversation about video games was interesting; shame that neither member of the trio could illustrate what they meant to Lammon, mostly because they didn't have any at hand. At least until...! the proverbial lightbulb turned on just above's the teenager's head. "I've got an idea! Maybe we show you what's a videogame in Terminus? I'm sure they have some of those there; well, if you want, that is! Otherwise we can just remain in here answering any other questions either you or Rina have. That's fun too!"
This time, she was counting on Lammon to translate. Maybe she'd do it? Hopefully.

Lammon wasn't one to back down so easily. Her rivalry with fellow schoolmate, Floramon, often led to verbal jabs, which were nearly an everyday occurrence. So when Suzuran overheard Lammon's criticism and called her out on it, Lammon lazed her eyes, arched a brow, and clenched her teeth, ready to 'dive deeper' into it. "H'oh~? Got pollen in your ears, too?"
Unfortunately for the little sheep digimon, she wasn't keeping her voice at mumbling levels of quietness, and Rina not only noticed Suzu move, but she also overheard and saw the tension between them. Her clapping had stopped.
"! Hey, now, that's not nice; knock it off...!" As far as Rina could wager, the conversation made it sound like Lammon had said something to upset Suzu and wasn't about to stop on her own.
Thankfully, with the intervention, Lammon angrily pouted, simply staring daggers at the virus-type Kodamon.
Rina sighed, but quickly went back to the topic at hand. "Sorry.... ---But yeah, I actually kinda follow that, now. [...]" And the conversation was more or less back on track.
-----------------------
Later, hearing Mana explain that there are video games in Terminus City, Lammon's eyes widened slightly. "They really have it there...?"
Meanwhile, Rina was unable to follow the conversation fully. Based on what she, herself, was talking about, she could guess at what Mana and Lammon were talking about, but the details were a mystery to her. Curious, she asked her partner. "Really have what where?"
Lammon looked at Rina, then remembered that the humans couldn't understand one another. Not nearly as faithful to translations as Ayaka was, Lammon condensed Mana's words enough to get the idea. "She says she'll show us a 'video game' in Terminus City."
It knocked Rina for a loop. "Wait.... Terminus City has some? That's cool! Yeah, let's go!"
Lammon relayed that to Mana, since it was an answer to Mana's question, in a sense. Mana was asking Lammon, not Rina, but Rina's response ultimately matched what Lammon would have given. The sheep 'mon nodded to Mana. "'Let's go,' she says," with Rina nodding in the background.

Oh, it was on! Suzuran's eyes narrowed dangerously as she stared at Lammon even more intensely. She crossed her arms, adopting a bit of a haughty posture. "And I think you have got some wool in your eyes, mammal. I do not have ears. Having such obsolete appendages would be a shame, would not it?"
Shots fired, indeed. Mana, who was recognizing this small bantering was escalating into something that definitely wouldn't end well, stepped right to Suzuran's side; she wasn't happy, to say the least. "That wasn't nice, Suzu; stop it. Ears are nice, by the way."
"Hmph." She wouldn't admit it out loud, but a small smirk was engraved on her face. Somebody actually standing up to her words instead of just letting those get through her was nice, for a change.
After that topic was dropped, another, more interesting one sprang up! Videogames were an interesting topic, even though neither Ayaka nor Suzuran seemed to be overly excited about them. "Are we going to Terminus? And just to stand up in front of a weird contraption with a glowing screen? I think I am going to jump with joy in just a moment." A groan escaped the fairy's throat, but it was promptly ignored by her human partner. Their path was already set, after all!
As they walked through, however, the redhead realized something. They still didn't know who Rina's partner was, and even if Lammon followed her around, was she the one? Well... maybe they'd find out on their way to Terminus. Speaking of her, though. "So, you never played videogames? What other kinds of human stuff you don't know about? Maybe I can help!"
That wasn't the best of questions, Ayaka figured right away. How could somebody who didn't know about something... well, know about it? Still, she was intrigued about Lammon's response.

Lammon raised her brow once again, "Huh?" this time, aimed at Mana. "How should I know what I don't know...? You tell me what I don't know...!"
Rina grinned distantly as she didn't fully get what they were talking about, but it sounded amusing. But that was fine. It didn't sound like a talk that directly involved her, anyway. While she was somewhat curious and tried to make sense of it, she wasn't about to interrupt an 'A'-'B' conversation just to 'C' her way into it. So instead, she glanced around at the construction efforts going on around the craters while the group of 5 headed towards Terminus City.
As she watched the digimon and humans working together to block off the craters, a thought entered her mind - as did a question. "Hey Aya, Suzu?" she began, still gazing at the workers before focusing on those whom the question was directed towards. Ayaka and Suzuran, as knowledgeable residents of this world, may have the answer.
"I think I forgot to ask this earlier, but: what caused that huge crater and the other ones? Did, like, mini asteroids hit this place, or something?" A fair question, she figured. Some major event happened here, and it would make sense for someone to know about it; Lammon said she didn’t know, when asked; Rina never thought to ask Mistymon or Wisemon, so now her question would fall to the digiduo.

Of course Lammon would answer that. The result, however, was something that Ayaka didn't expect; Mana was... actually thinking on things that the digimon probably didn't know. "Hmmm... let's see! Do you know about amusement parks? What about cutlery? What about, what about..." She surely meant to say a word, but she just couldn't quite remember what was it. "What about shearing? Or, or... ice-cream? Did you ever had ice-cream?"
Suzuran couldn't but snicker at the mention of the word "shearing". Maybe Lammon knew what it meant, and the Kodamon surely wanted to see her reaction to such a term. It would be entertaining, to say the least.
That, however, was only half of the conversation! On the other side, Ayaka (and Suzuran) were being asked about why the Plains looked like they currently were. While the orange-ish fairy shrugged, her sister began to walk closer to Rina, her expression becoming considerably more serious than before. "It is... quite the tale, Miss Katrina." She admitted; the more she walked through the plains, the more vivid the images were. A memory that came back to her progressively, but surely. "This area was the stage of a conflict. Both Miss Mana and I were there, even though her memory is... not that clear at the moment. Mine is not either, but at least I can recall most of the events that transpired."
A small pause ensued before the fairy went on. "A being named Zephyrus, dubbing himself as "the unascended" began said conflict, laying waste to everything he went across, saying that he was on some kind of "search". Before he could reach Terminus, however, some brave souls caught notice of this wanton destruction and tried their best to put an end to that unhinged endeavor; we were successful, and while we could not vanquish Zephyrus, he never made his presence known again, at least to my knowledge. Unfortunately, the battle had the side effect of... putting the Plains in this regrettable condition. It is a scar that has yet to heal, and a grim reminder of all the people who disappeared after that event."
A painful lesson, if anything, but the next time, she was sure that they'd be prepared. "Must have been interesting. Wonder when something like that is happening again." Of course Suzuran would say that; it made sense, she hated inaction, yet still... "Hopefully? Never. Realistically? Could at any moment, as far as I am aware."

Lammon listened to Mana and tried to make sense of the words that she mentioned, hoping for a reaction. For the most part, however, the mullet-headed sheep didn't know what the gray-eyed girl was talking about. But, to at least make the effort of figuring them out, Lammon stated what she, herself, thought each of those things were - after each one was brought up.
Amusement Park: "A park that makes you happy? Nuh-uh." She knew the words, at least.
Cutlery: "Nope. Is that a fighting style?" She imagined they'd be of the sword variety.
Shearing: "'Shearing'...? .... Hmmm.... .... ...---Oh! It's that sound when something scrapes and hurts your ears - like claws on a chalkboard - right?"
Ice Cream: "!! What!? No! You can't even get cream from ice! That one's a lie!" Had to be a lie, as it made the least amount of sense...!
--------------
Meanwhile,
"??" Rina blinked and wondered what happened for Mana and Aya to have unclear memories of this 'conflict.' Having read manga and watched anime, she could fathom a guess or two as to what could have happened.
'Zephyrus the Unascended' was searching for something..., and he began destroying the place in search of it. How could one have so much power? ...---And wait a minute.... People disappeared? ...---Or was that Ayaka's way of saying that they... [gulp]....
Not gonna lie: the thought that this 'Zephyrus' was still around somewhere... scared the redhead a little. If he's able to do all this, she'd be wiped out in an instant...! Would she even have a chance to run? The size of that massive crater tells her 'no'. "Geh---...;;;" clenching her teeth bracingly.
...But that brought about another thought.
";;;.... ...This 'Zephyrus' guy...: is he a digimon, ...or a human...?" remembering that digimon can have names, too, she didn't rule out that possibility.

Lammon's lack of education on human matters was something dire. Like, super dire; Mana's expression couldn't but convey the most distilled amazement at how the digimon not only didn't know what the concepts she had presented were, but also at the gross misinterpretations that followed suit. She'd have to fix this A.S.A.P.
"Uh, how do I begin." She looked at the digimon, once then twice, thinking of a suitable explanation. "Well. An amusement park is a bit like... The Village of Beginnings! You've been there, right? Most baby digimons come from that place. The main difference is that it doesn't have babies or caretakers or cradles and instead it's filled out with games of all types and sorts, Like, theres this cart that goes super quickly along a rail a weird shape, or castles of all types and sorts... or a giant room with all kinds of funny mirrors! If you want to, I'll take you to one someday. I'm sure you'll have lots of fun!"
That was a bit of a hard one. Cutlery was way easier! "Nah, not a fighting style. It's stuff like knives, spoons and forks; things that humans use to eat. Like you use a knife to cut stuff, a fork to grab it and a spoon to grab it if it's a liquid! Simple, ain't it?" Now, onto... "Well, shearing is more complicated than that. When a sheep's wool grows long enough for it to be a hindrance, somebody just cuts it until it goes back to a more comfortable form! Kinda like getting a haircut, but for sheeps, I guess."
At least that statement left clear that, even if Lammon looked like a sheep, she wasn't all too familiar with stuff that was done to them in the human world. That was interesting. "Oh, no; ice cream it's not cream you get from ice. It's actually a dessert and it's delicious! I'm sure they have some in Terminus, so you'll see it really soon! It also comes in a lot of flavors, so it's pretty much impossible to dislike it."
What else didn't Lammon know about? She seemed to be a bit of a curious digimon, so she'd make sure to show her! Rina seemed to be quite distressed by this revelation, and probably it wasn't for anything less. The testament to Zephyrus' power was undeniable, as evidenced by the state of the plains. "Worry not, Miss Katrina. This event transpired years ago and he has not made his next move, so the possibilities of his return are dismal at this point. And of it, the Digital World will be ready this time. We will not back down if our world is threatened." Bold words coming from Ayaka; quite the oddity; looking at her determined expression conveyed that she meant everything she said, though. "Sorry for not clarifying that point, though; he was a digimon. I think Miss Mana had his species saved on her digivice. Allow me a moment."
Calling for the girl and explaining them the situation, Mana began to fiddle with her digivice a bit until it showed a particular species of digimon. A bit like half man, half goat, full ugly. It was an Aegiochusmon. "That is him."

As Mana explained everything, Lammon took in as much as she could imagine. She knew the Village of Beginnings, and was able to grasp some of the basics of an amusement park. Finding out what cutlery meant was a bit of a shock to her. "What!? That's what 'cutlery' is!? You should've just said forks, spoons, and knives; I know what those are!" She knew them from the Burgamon who had them on hand back at Mistymon's school hut. No one had ever said 'cutlery' around her, so she didn't know. But now she had a word for them as a whole, so yay! 'Shearing' she was completely wrong about. The look in Lammon's eyes told the story of someone who learns of the cruelty to her kind in another world. To her, her wool is her identity; for it to get cut was a sin to her - and these humans saw nothing wrong with cutting it off?? Lammon pulled her cloak's hood further over her head to hide her mullet. "There's no need to cut it; you can just stylize it...!"As for 'ice cream:' "A dessert?" It's delicious, she says - but it's not really cream from ice, though, she says.... The sheep continued to listen, but she got no mention of what it actually is. Instead, she learned that it comes in many flavors, and that almost no one is able to dislike it because of that. "Really? ...I guess I've gotta try it, then...," lightening up on her hold of the hood. ------------- It has been years since anyone had seen Zephyrus, and now, even if he were to appear, they were ready for him. That was a bit of a load off her mind..., but the fact remained that he was still out there, somewhere. .... Rina would eventually forget about the fact, but right now, she was still a little concerned. But what concerned her more was that a digimon was able to cause such widespread damage - supposedly all alone. Even Lammon couldn't do that with her magic. Just how strong was that guy? Aya called to Mana for her digivice to show the data on the powerful digimon. Looking at the screen once it was ready, Rina saw the goat-man-like digimon. Its image was of a better quality than Rina's own digivice would give. The taller redhead awed at it. The digimon looked so much like a human that she almost asked about it, but then remembered Mistymon and held off on that. ...But she did wonder to herself why some digimon had human-like appearances. .... Its name was interesting, though. "Aegis--- no.... Ay-geo-...choose---.... ...---Eiji-o'chiss-mon...?" She struggled. "This guy? He did all that!?? He made that giant crater back there?!? I thought he'd be, like, a giant or something...!" Katrina was genuinely shocked. The image didn't make the guy out to be all that big, so she couldn't see how someone of that assumed size could create that unbelievably massive crater. "Really? This guy" pointing at him in disbelief.

Lammon seemed to be a good student! Even if she already knew a bit about what cutlery was. "Yup! Pretty simple, ain't it? Now you're a little wiser!" What surprised Mana the most, however, was that she seemed to be completely frightened at the notion of "shearing". That was interesting, and worrying in a sense. "Oh, don't worry. I don't know much about the process myself, but I'm sure that if it's done with care, the sheep must've thankful afterwards; must feel like getting a haircut, I guess? Then again, sheeps on the human world are really different than you. How can I describe them..." For a second, she took a thinking posture, trying to find a term that wouldn't offend Lammon. "They're more... animalistic, so to say?"
Maybe that wasn't the right word, but it was a pretty good approximation! Maybe it was for the better to stay as far as possible from the topic; maybe she was treading on muddy terrain at the moment without even noticing... oh well. Ice-cream was a better topic than that, for sure! "Exactly! I promise you you'll like it! Now we just gotta reach Terminus and I'll show you." Funny how the topic between Rina and Ayaka was much more serious and... dire, even if a thing of the past.
Waiting patiently for her to try and spell the creature's name, Ayaka finally spoke again. "Aegiochusmon, correct. Make no mistake, however. This was not a normal Aegiochusmon, for he on his own could face against more or less half a dozen of the finest digimon I have met and emerged unscathed from the ordeal, all while causing this widespread destruction and attempting to build a floating fortress of sorts of the siphoned data. A powerful enemy, but one I would not doubt on facing again, should the opportunity arise."
Right now, the group was getting closer to Terminus; the city could be seen at the distance. They'd arrive there soon.

"Animalistic? ...?"
Lammon didn't know if the word was correct or not, either, but it made her think that the sheep in the human world were more bestial. In that sense, Lammon figured they were giving in to their desires too much to care about how to manage their wool. They sounded like sheep from a prehistoric time.
Moving to the topic of ice cream, Lammon relieved the hood of her grasp as she grinned in anticipation.
--------
"Aegiochusmon sounds like a final boss kind of guy.... Well, if you and these others think you can handle him again, I guess I'll just have to put my faith in you guys," Katrina smiled.
She then noticed how close they were to Terminus City, and its entrance, more specifically. She began to bubble up with excitement. "We're almost there...! I can't wait...!"
She recalled when she came here for the first time with Gotsumon and Floramon. Floramon was scheming something and she had led the group the long way around the city walls, just to get into a scuffle with some Goblimon. Lammon bailed them out of trouble for that time being. Remembering that, she was glad to see the entrance get closer and closer so quickly when being led there - and glad that she was there to do something fun, for a change.
As they approached the entrance, Rina wondered what kind of video games Terminus City even had. As she thought about how much they'd cost to play them, she remembered something.
"! Oh yeah! I forgot that's why we were headed to Terminus, anyway!" speaking aloud, out of nowhere, about something Mana and the others didn't know about.
"Hey," Rina began again, "so you guys must know how to buy things with Bits, too, right?" Looking to Mana - then to Ayaka to translate. "We were originally out here so that I could see that."
