The hidden underground platform at the Shibuya station was by now a familiar sight to Sophie James. To her it meant the beginning of an adventure - to escape from the pressures of her final exams to kick back and relax a little. Since completing her exams, she had come here much more often. After all, what else was she going to do? She had already gone to her friends' parties of celebration. And furthermore, well, she kind of agreed with her little brother Colin on the point that you could be someone so much more in the digital world. Dressed in a light black coat, light blue jeans, running shoes and a magenta blouse, Sophie looked at the timetable, and was disappointed to see that the next Trailmon wouldn't arrive for another three hours. That was simply ridiculous, but, apparently the Trailmons had come down with a bit of sickness and couldn't run as timely. Oh well. "It can happen I guess" Sophie's partner Lantis the Spadamon said, shrugging. The fluffy white lion was dressed in his blue armor as usual, decorated with the fleur-de-lis. "Well, since we're here, how about we take a look around?" Sophie suggested. The underground platform was a relatively large place. And so mysterious too. Only chosen could enter it. She could hear the distant rumbling of the Tokyo subway above them, carrying passengers that were oblivious to them. It felt so exciting in a way. But also a little dangerous. What if a bad digimon came through here? Sophie wandered along the platform, seeing vending machines here and there. Some waiting rooms, some other children that were also waiting for Trailmons, even some staff that Sophie strongly suspected were really digimon wearing holosuits. Eventually, she came to what looked like an abandoned office. "What's this place?" she wondered out loud, looking up at it. Over the entrance was the faded letters. "D.A.T.S." Hmm. "Weren't they the humans that kept law an order on Earth with digimon?" Lantis asked. "Yeah, but, looks like they're defunct" Sophie said. And she walked inside, coughing a little from the dust gathered here. She flipped the light switch. Thankfully it still worked. Fluorescent lights lit a depressingly empty room. All that was left was the furniture. All the electronics had since been removed, including the phones. As Sophie surveyed the empty room, examining its amenities, she was beginning to get ideas. Namely that perhaps the world needed something like DATS around? John Davis @charliered Satoshi Himura

John had only visited the Digital World on one occasion since he became a Tamer and met his partner. Thankfully, the pair recently obtained the chance to visit the world of Digimon once again in between the job interviews that John had taken during the week.
Today John was wearing one of his favorite outfits; navy faded jeans, a dark gray tee, and his black converse sneakers. He was glad that it wasn't cold enough outside to warrant the need for a jacket. It was a little chilly, however, inside of the Locomon station. Luckily, the body heat provided by his Agumon helped with staving off a chill.
The pair sat on one of the benches just as the other Tamers and their Digimon did due to the delay in the Locomon's arrival. Three hours was a bit much, but there was honestly nothing better to do. Due to this, John wasn't about to complain. He got to spend time with his Digimon, after all.
Casimeir decided to pose a query to his Tamer. "The delay wasn't this bad last time, was it John?"
In response, John shook his head. "There wasn't even a delay the last time," he mentioned with a hint of concern. "But it's kinda expected. Train stations get busy sometimes."
While the two remained in their seat, John's eye caught the out-of-place behavior of a tamer pair walking through a doorway. The Tamer's curiosity nipped at the back of his mind when a light clicked on in the previously unlit room, creeping up on his psyche more and more. Casimeir noticed how John's attention was drawn elsewhere. "What's up, John?"
"I don't know," John admitted. "But I kinda want to find out what's important about that door those two walked through." His sense of adventure surely had him firmly in its grasp.
"Then let's check it out," Casimeir chimed. Their bodies appeared to be in sync when they both got off of the bench at the same time. The Agumon was the one to lead on this new quest, walking toward the opened door with John striding behind him.
Casimeir peered through the entryway for the abandoned DATS office. The sight of a female tamer and her Spadamon greeted the Digimon's emerald eyes. John stood now before the threshold and gazed at the two inside in wonder. His eyes then shifted to the lettering above. He was unsure how they would react to his snooping, but he wouldn't get answers unless he at least announced his presence. Besides, he thought, the girl and her Digimon looked like they were also snooping.
A gentle smile creased the corners of the human's mouth while he took on a relaxed posture. "Hey there," he spoke with a friendly tone. "That wait time is crazy, huh?"

Satoshi was off work for the day, and had decided to head back to the Digital World with Tsunomon. The two of them had made their way to the station, and Satoshi had stuffed the little horned ball into his backpack.
"Satoshi," the In-Training Digimon whined, "how much longer do I have to hide in here? It's so cramped!"
Satoshi just shushed his new partner. "We'll be there soon." His words would have been true, if he hadn't gotten distracted by the sight of John and Casimeir. Without telling Tsunomon what was going on, he followed the pair until they came into a strange, abandoned office.
"Hey, John," Satoshi said pleasantly. Immediately, he noticed they weren't alone. "What's up here?"

Lantis turned around rather quickly as he heard the noises behind them. After all, it was his job to be Sophie's protector. Thankfully there didn't seem to be any threat from the other man and digimon. Sophie turned around a few moments later, her eyes focusing on the two.
She saw one was a man in his mid-20's, and at his side was an Agumon. Sophie recognized the species, she had met an Agumon before. The apparent age of this individual was curious though, Sophie hadn't met any above the age of 18 yet. But she supposed there wouldn't be any reason that was a limit though.
He seemed nice enough though, it didn't seem like he worked there or was a security guard. "Hey there" Sophie answered back in English, recognizing his american accent. She smiled internally about all the American expatriates she had been meeting lately. Although it was understandable. Shibuya was close to Roppongi, a suburb of Tokyo where many foreign-born individuals preferred to reside. "Ugh, I'll say. Three hours? Must be some sickness that's holding them up".
"Hiya" Lantis said, assuming a friendly tone since Sophie did too. It was then that another figure turned up, a man around the first one's age. Although he didn't seem surprised to see the digimon present, so Sophie deduced that he was in on the digimon thing too. She noted that the first one was called John.
"Well then..." Sophie said, clasping her hands together, it was a bit draughty down here. "I don't suppose any of you guys know what happened to this place?" she asked curiously. "Oh, I'm Sophie James by the way, and this is my partner Lantis".
"You can call me Lan though, everyone does" the Spadamon said. "So, since you two are down here I guess you know a bit about digimon?"

John offered Satoshi a warm smile when he arrived. "Hey, Satoshi. Cas and I wanted to check out this empty room only to find another Tamer and her Digimon."
Sophie's concern about the abandoned, run-down office made John's interest in the matter pique. He had no idea why the office was in its current state. There were no signs of struggle, so a forced exit wasn't very likely.
"My name's John, and this is Casimeir," the Tamer introduced. "I haven't the slightest clue as to what happened to this place. It just looks like whoever used to use the room just up and left."
Casimeir tapped a claw against his chin in thought. "Was the door locked when you arrived?" he inquired. "I mean, whoever owned this room must have made sure to lock the door if they were going to leave for a while."
John thought that Casimeir had a good point. "That's some sharp thinking, Cas. Anyone in their right mind wouldn't usually leave a place to ruin without a good reason." John would then turn his attention to the Spadamon. "It's nice to meet you both. And yeah, I've been a Tamer for a few years, now."

Satoshi noticed immediately that this girl was being accompanied by what appeared to be a Digimon. "It's nice to meet you," he said, bowing awkwardly. "My name's Sato-" Satoshi was cut off by his backpack swinging straight over his head and watched in horror as Tsunomon fell right out of the bag and onto the ground in front of the whole group.
"I'm Tsunomon!" the Digimon exclaimed proudly, "And this is my human, Satoshi!"
Satoshi looked nervous, as he wasn't used to having Tsunomon be out in front of people besides John. His face was flushed, and he stared wide-eyed at the girl and her Digimon.

So the other guy's name was Satoshi, while these were John and Casameir. "Okay, cool" Sophie said. So, they had no idea what this place was, eh? Okay. "Well, I don't know much about it either, only that DATS seemed to be this organization that protected this world from digimon incursions" she explained.
"They seem to have disappeared though, and, we just found this place as it was" Lantis continued. Was the door locked when they came in?
"Er... no I don't think it was locked..." Sophie said, looking at the door. "Strange. I would've thought it'd be locked, otherwise people would be using it as a waiting room or something".
Ah, so John was a tamer for a few years now? "Ah, awesome. I just found Lan a few weeks ago" Sophie said.
Then Satoshi's bag suddenly swung over his head and a digimon fell out. This was a Tsunomon. "Ahh, okay, I thought you were a tamer" Sophie said, smiling. She was glad her intuition was right on this count.
"Well then... seeing this place as it is gives me an idea" Sophie continued. "I mean... if DATS isn't around anymore, I was thinking of starting a new organization. Like, Lan here isn't very strong, but, I've just finished school and I need a job, so... if there's nothing standing in the way of digimon attacking Earth, well, that's not very good is it?"
She wondered what John and Satoshi might say about this situation.

"Digimon incursions?" John repeated. The thought of Digimon wreaking havoc in the Human World had rarely crossed his mind. The possibility was constant, and yet he had never experienced any bad encounters with Digimon except in the Digital World.
The partners couldn't help but chuckle at the Tsunomon's antics. "Hey, Tsunomon!" John greeted cheerfully. "Are you enjoying your day?"
"It's good to see you again, Tsunomon," Casimeir added. "Are you close to reaching Rookie stage?"
After the minor exchange, John returned his gaze to Sophie and Lantis. "Well Sophie," he began, "I have to say that I agree with you whole-heartedly. I think it's a wonderful idea to bring DATS back to life. Cas and I have seen first-hand how dangerous Digimon can be in the Digital World. If you're starting a new group, then I want to be a part of it." John smiled gently, showing his sincerity.
Casimeir gave a single nod in concurrence with John's code of ethics. "If you need members, then you can count on John and me."
Sophie's desires inspired John and his Digimon partner. The pair always had an aspiration to help people and Digimon alike since the early days of their friendship. John peered toward Satoshi with a soft grin. "What do you say, Satoshi? Do you want to join, too?"

"Well, if you must know, I've already hit Champion!" Tsunomon boasted. He was lying, but he wanted to look cool in front of Casimeir. The truth was that he had recently gotten up to his Rookie form.
"You'll have to show him sometime," Satoshi laughed. Then he turned his attention to the conversation at hand. "We'd absolutely love to help. I'll have to juggle time doing this with working at the ramen shop, but I'll do what I can."

Sophie nodded when John asked about incursions. "Yes, some digimon have crossed the dimensions and have messed up some places in Shibuya pretty badly" she said. "But from what I heard, DATS was usually in the background to keep the damage and knowledge limited".
Lantis noted that Tsunomon was bragging he could reach champion. "Oh really? I can too" he said. "Sophie, may I?"
"Ugh, fine, just don't be weird again alright?" Sophie asked, taking out her digivice. With a burst of light, Lantis began to grow to his full Champion size.
"Spadamon evolve... Leomon!"
At once, Lantis's rookie form was replaced with a giant 9 foot tall heavily muscular lion man. Ultimately he was too tall to fit in the room, so he simply laid on his side, posing with a smug smirk.
"Now then~" he said, grinning at Tsunomon. "I have shown you mine, so shall you show me yours?"
"Jesus christ, Lan, he's an in-training level" Sophie scolded, cringing.
"I'm not flirting, Sophie, geez, how depraved do you think I am?" Lantis argued back. He decided to turn the subject back to their group, sitting up and crossing his legs. "I believe we were talking about some sort of group, yes?"
"Right..." Sophie said, getting back to the subject at hand. "First up, we're probably going to have to learn all we can about digimon. I propose for our first task, we'll go around the digital world and talk to people on Earth too and try to find the most experienced tamers and friendly digimon we can find. That way we can both obtain information and experience from them, as well as boosting our reputation. Does that sound like a good idea to you guys?"
"Indeed, it's fine with me" Lantis said. "Ultimately we will need a name at some stage, yes?"
"Oh, right..." Sophie said. "Any suggestions?" she asked John and Satoshi.

Satoshi and Tsunomon were a little intimidated by the sudden Leomon that had showed up in the room. His personality also seemed to do an about-face, somehow. "Well, I-I'm not sure my Champion form would fit in the room," Tsunomon stammered. "It's okay," Satoshi smirked, catching his Digimon in his lie. "We can at least show off a little bit of your progress!" He took his Digivice out and held it out in front of him, triggering Tsunomon's evolution. "Tsunomon Digivolve to...Gabumon!"In a flash, the pelt-wearing reptile stood in the center of everyone, giving a little flex and grinning. As the conversation continued, Satoshi nodded along. "This all sounds good to me," he said. "As far as a name...it might be hard to come up with a cool acronym like DATS. I'll think about it!"

This would be the first time that John and Casimeir got to see their Digi-friend evolve. Naturally, the two felt incredibly proud and happy for him.
"Wow," Casimeir chimed, "that's incredible, Gabumon! I bet Satoshi is proud of you!"
A warm smile came to John's face as he admired the Tsunomon's new transformation. "You look pretty strong for a rookie. How long have you been able to Digivolve?"
Sophie brought to the forefront of the conversation what the potential name should be for the new organization. "I wish I knew," said John. "I'm creative, but not that creative. Like Satoshi says, it should be an acronym. Something that has to do with what we will be doing as members."

A smile crossed Lantis's face. "Ah, of course" he said, thinking that Tsunomon was telling a fib or two, but it was of course nothing serious. But Tsunomon could at least evolve to Gabumon. Lantis nodded his approval as he flexed. "Excellent job" he commended.
Sophie had to smile a bit. She seemed to be encountering Agumons and Gabumons quite a lot lately. She then noted Satoshi's recommendation. "Yes, that's something we'll have to consider, an acronym would be most welcome".
The girl paced the room a little. "Let's see... we're going to be acting as protectors from digimon threats, so, something like a shield? Although I don't think "SHIELD" would be that creative".
"What about a shield of legend?" Lantis suggested, the Leomon thinking of something immediately. "The divine shield of the royal knight Dukemon, and also the shield of legend carried by the ancient greek gods Zeus and Athena... AEGIS" he looked rather pleased with himself for coming up with that.
"Hmm..." Sophie thought about it. "Artificial Extradimensional... Guarding and Investigation Squad?"
"Oho! I like that very much" Lantis said. "Is that okay with the rest of you?"

Satoshi took a moment to ponder. "AEGIS, huh..."
Gabumon, meanwhile was busy also flexing along with Lantis. It seemed the two of them would get along just fine.
"That sounds like a good idea to me!" Satoshi finally said, giving a warm smile. "Pleased to be on board!" He realized that he should probably be calling Sophie by some sort of title now that she was technically his boss, in a sense.

John and Casimeir's collective interests piqued when the Leomon and Sophie came up with the potential group name's concept and meaning. John himself always loved Ancient Greek culture and the stories tied with it.
"That sounds like a great name!" John enthused while he beamed at Sophie and Lantis. "I like that acronym, too. It makes us sound kinda like a team of private investigators." John chuckled at that. "I take it you're gonna be my boss now, huh? I just hope this job is better than my current one."
