Satsuki was usually not one to actually dread exams normally. She had always been a very studious individual who rarely ever had difficulty with such. School in general was rarely an issue frankly... So why was she now struggling to actually pay attention here?
The young adult sat at her desk in her living room, attempting to gaze into the textbook for her Science class. While usually studying was as easy as just spending a little time reading into the book, her mind was blank as she attempted to decipher the words.
Chemistry was while a fairly tricky subject, she usually did not have THIS much difficulty with it. She was supposed to be attempting to burn the various compounds of protons, neutrons and electrons into her mind... but to no avail.
She tapped her fingers on to the book's pages impatiently, struggling to keep focus. This shouldn't been as difficult as it was! Studying was never this difficult for her normally! Struggling to actually pay attention... She usually was the one to give people shit for not paying attention, so to have it happen to her was a whole new experience entirely.
Then again... it was hard to keep her mind focused on the real world these days. The real world felt so dull nowadays. After all, it was just the same old stuff she has always seen. Humans going about with their everyday lives. Their oh so insignificant and uninteresting lives. To think... just a few months ago, she was ONE of them. Just another unimportant human attempting to try and find some meaning to their worthless existence.
She seriously pitied the people whom were unaware of the Digital World's existence. An entire world filled with hope and fantastic sights... literally underneath the nose of almost the entirety of the human race.
The Digital World was her precious treasure. Her little paradise to escape from the boredoms of the human world. It was not something she necessarily wanted to share though. To let more people indulge in the Digital World beyond those who naturally stumble upon on it would muddy the waters. She was very diligent with making sure that the Digital World and it's secrets never were leaked out to others. While a similar goal to many other humans in the same position as her... her reasoning was more selfish in nature.
It was the only place where she could actually unwind and let her true feelings loose. She was usually very careful with showing her true nature around others. She had an identity of being the poster child of good-behavior for both her family and her school. Hell, she was even recently promoted to working part time in the school office. She was the shining example of what a good student should be.
Of course, this was all surface-level. In truth, the girl despised many of her fellow peers, but could only smile and grin. She wouldn't have been allowed to go on an ill-tempered tirade on how much she despises the way one talks or dresses without losing her hard-earned credibility here on Earth.
She honestly would have preferred to ditch this exam entirely and go venture into the Digital World as she usually has been, but that just was not an option. Or well, it was not a good option. She had a life here in the human world. A boring one, but it was a life nonetheless.
The girl flipped to a previous page, attempting to keep her vision focused on the illustrations depicting the various atomic shapes that she needed to learn about. It was frankly rather boring to read, especially when you have become used to an entirely brand new world's own set of physics. The physics of the Digital World were more... chaotic she supposed. It never was really set in stone, it at times having a very clap your hands and believe vibe to it all.
After all, it's a world where magic exists and the average Digimon has the ability to decimate buildings should they want to. Hell, some Digimon had power that made nuclear warheads look like firecrackers. When you try and compare human physics to Digital World physics... there really was no comparison. Hell, real world physics even seemed to bend over for Digital World physics considering that Digimon have absolutely no problem materializing in the real world.
She supposed she was just guilty of preferring the flashier alternative to things. The Digital World was just more vibrant and fun. Once you have a taste of it, it is hard to go back to the more idyllic lifestyle of humanity.
As the girl struggled to study, she felt something in her pocket began to buzz. She dove a hand down her pocket, pulling out her D-3 Digivice. Of course, it was Circe. An 8-bit representation of the Arpamon was bobbing up and down on it's screen. The girl groaned slightly as she pressed a button, turning on a speaker for the Digivice. "Circe? I have told you, I am trying to study right now. For my exam for school." She'd state to the device. "Human school. Do you understand that?"
"Aww, c'mon Satsuki! You been studying for that dumb exam all day! Why can't you take a break? We can just go for a little trip into the D W! No one will have to know!" A squeaky and highly cheery voice would call out from the device, pleading to the girl.
"Sorry Circe. That is just not an option. I have important adult human things I need to do first before anything else. I hope you understand." Satsuki would softly tell her partner, much to their disappointment. Her partner gave out a very overly dramatic sigh, something that almost made Satsuki snicker slightly.
"Man, human stuff sucks. Why do you still like this place Satsuki? You like the Digital World way more, right? So why don't you just move there for good? It'd be way more run that way." The Digimon would complain, further expressing their lack of care for her tamer's home world.
As much as Satsuki didn't want to admit... She had been tempted in the past to abandon her old life for good. It was a damn tempting idea... but the girl was not ready to burn her bridges just yet. "Look, we'll go to the Digital World after my exam. For a while. I just really have to study for this."
The Arpamon let out a digitial groan as the Digivice seemed to turn off, signifying that they were done talking for now. The girl pocketed her Digivice back once more, taking a deep breath as she went back to studying.
Or at the very least try to study. No guarantee that her efforts would actually be awarded this time. Guess she had more important things to be distracted about...
(OOC: This time, posts would be nice!)
