A Mini Beach Vacation [Reliability Digimental][Invite]

Memories of summer vacations past came to John's mind while he and Casimeir arrived at Whitewater City. The Tamer could remember a particular vacation spot in the United States, specifically in South Carolina, that was a paradise for families and college students alike. From attractions such as mini golf and go-karts to seaside shops and restaurants, with a gorgeous beach to boot, Myrtle Beach is where John had the fondest memories for getaways.
However, that beautiful location of the Human World paled in comparison to the oceanfront of this spot in the Digital World. Entering the city, John could see that the buildings and streets were well looked-after. Every Digimon or human had a smile on their face and an air of friendliness. The Tamer and his Digimon couldn't help but smile themselves. And top it off, the beach sand remained pristine with not a single piece of trash or manmade waste in sight.
It didn't take long for the pair to reach the beach itself. Casimeir was the one to initiate the fun that the two would experience today. The Agumon gave a sly grin to his Tamer and tapped his leg before taking off at a sprint. "Tag! You're it!"
John did not expect the spontaneous game that his Agumon decided to play. The surprise caused him to hesitate, thereby allowing Casimeir to get a head start. "H-hey!" he shouted. "Get back here, you little dinosaur!" John was, of course, calling his Digimon such as a jest. After kicking off his sandals, the human partner took off after his friend.

Whitewater City? Another on the long list of places that the two had journeyed to. Because he was poor, Rick couldn't exactly experience everything that the Digital World had to offer. But, he had seen a lot of the world itself. This was his third beach of the third sea that he had ever seen. As was now tradition, they had gone to visit the local beach. Aegiomon even had swimming trunks for the occasion (even though he never wore clothes otherwise...).
Rick found a place to throw a towel down and set up with a book - he preferred it over swimming. He let the faun go wild in the ocean. He took note of another Tamer and digimon partner. They were running around like idiots. Before Rick could stop him, Aegiomon started running after them. If he could catch them, he had plans to ask to play all kinds of games, like tag, racing, or even a death battle. If they rubbed him the wrong way, Gio was likely to...
Ricky kept an eye on the satyr, just in case.

The chase that John was a part of lead him and his Digimon to the water's edge, now. "You're not getting away that easily!" he cried with a smirk. The Partnered human sprung his legs and leaped forward, tackling his Agumon into the water. The cool seawater splashed around the pair and covered them from the impact. By the time they landed, knee-deep in the sea, they couldn't help but bust out laughing.
John helped his companion get to his feet by grasping the Agumon's left forearm. But by then, the satyr-like Aegiomon approached them. The two offered friendly smiles amidst heavy breaths to regain their stamina.
"Oh, hi!" John chirped. He listened while Aeigiomon asked if he could take part in the fun that he and Casimeir had planned. "Well sure, if that's alright with Casimeir."
Casimeir grinned to the new Digimon. "Of course! What do you have in mind?"

Aegiomon grinned. "How about a race? I'm pretty quick though. I don't blame you for being scared.", he jested, poking fun at the fresh faces. He looked them up and down - run of the mill tamer and digimon. And an Agumon? Not exactly common, at least in Luminas city. He wondered if such a ferocious looking digimon had violent tendencies. The human looked pretty non-threatening, so Gio wasn't really concerned for his safety. He was confident in his ability to run away. Rick, however...
Well, cross that bridge when you come to it, Aegiomon thought. If the duo accepted the challenge, they would work out the specifics such as racing to where, and who would call to start (Gio would suggest for Rick to do it). If not, he was open to other games.

Scuffling, laughing and other sounds if conversation are what caused a passing Elecmon's ears to perk up. He turnes his steely eyes over to a small dune, obscuring him of the view of the source. He switched the side his toothpick was in his mouth, before padding up to the hill, moderately paced, at first, before slowing down and moving slower, as he reached the top of the hill, watching the group closely. Two digimon and a human, he gathered, an agumon and an Aegiomon. He could gather the Aegiomon was an outsider to the group, and seeming to wish to join whatever game they had. He also assumed the human had a digivice, and the Agumon was then his partner. It was the logical assumption, as humans were incredibly weak on their own in this world. He decided to simply watch the proceedings, lying his belly on the warm sand, and flattening his ears as he stayed entirely still, deciding to pretend to have been there this whole time, sleeping soundly. He flickered his eyes and watched the group, allowing his fatigue to catch up with him, for the moment, as he yawned and relaxed on the sand, relaxing as he watched the activities of a human and their digital partner.

John and Casimeir faced each other, then returned their gazes to the satyr with looks of confidence. John was physically fit enough to take part in a small race, as was his Agumon despite the short stature. Plus, John figured this would be a good chance to get in some exercise.
"How far down the beach do you want to run?" Casimeir inquired from Aegiomon. He looked on ahead to see if he could find a suitable landmark that would be a potential point for the imaginary finish line. It was then that he noticed a large pier that resided thirty feet in the air, stretched out over the waves.
The structure was a rough eight hundred yards away from where the group stood. The Agumon could barely make out the different humans and Digimon that lingered on the wooden structure. "How about to the pier?"

"To the pier! This is gonna be awesome~"
After enough beckoning, Gio was able to get Rick to come start the race up. When they all got readied, seconds of silence would hang like an uneasy mist. Then, START!
As soon as the race began, Aegiomon went all out - probably not the best idea in a race with such a far target. He began making huge leaps, taking forty feet of distance with each hop. Apparently, the digimon was even faster in walled environments (like cities or even forest areas)because he could bounce between parallel surfaces. Here, it simply leaped across the ground like an insect. It pranced about effortlessly, taking gaps of distance very quickly and then stopping to prepare for the next jump. Aegiomon doubted that either of them were faster than this method, but if they had tricks up their sleeves, he would be out of luck - he couldn't run as fast as he could jump. Beating this tactic would be his complete undoing.

The elecmon watched with lazy eyes, as he lied on his belly, relaxing. He couldn't quite hear their conversation, but he caugh the word "pier" as the human pointed, and the two digimon set themselves up, before lunging off, towards their target. His muscles tensed, as hsi ears and paws moved to cover his face, as the two had kicked up sand in his general direction, they were obviously racing, for training or amusement he couldn't tell, despite how the Aegiomon was obviously enjoying himself, he knew of digimon who liked challenges such as this. He noticed the disbalance in the Aegiomin's run, but decided not to put too much faith in either, as it was, in fact, none of his business.
As tempting as it was to stay still, he stood, deciding to approach the human, "excuse me! Hello!" he called, shaking his head and clearing it of his sleepy thoughts, trying to wake himself up with his own sharp words. He skidded down the dune, before he realized he had vertigo from moving too hastily, stumbled, and rolled, before springing back onto his feet, stopping a few feet away from John, skidsing on the ground, his fur flared out and tensed, "whooops!" he remarked, stumbling, before rolling one more time, just to regain his balance. After straightening himself up, he patted some sand from his fur, before turning back to the human, before realizing he had taken off, alongside his digimon. He frowned, sighing, before realizung that there was another human that he somehow missed, realizing that the Aegiomon had to be a partnered digimon as well. "Oh, uh... Greetings, you have a digivice, yes?" he asked, politely, sitting down, calmly, trying his best to not appear threatening.

To say that John and Casimeir were shocked by the Aegiomon's display would be an understatement. Feelings of self-doubt almost took hold in their respective psyches, only to be blocked by a burst of determination like a firewall. The pair was not about to give up so easily.
"Let's do this, Cas!" John coached as he dug his heels into the sand. He would not run until his Agumon was ready.
"You got it!" Casimeir concurred. And like that, the two made their mad unified dash toward the pier. For now, they would keep a steady pace in order to not to tire themselves out before the race was even completed. The thought of digivolving his partner crossed the human's mind, but he didn't want to feel like he was cheating.

Rick, stunned, could only stare at the Elecmon for a moment. Then, he composed his thoughts, and pulled out the Xros Loader.
"Y-yeah, I guess. Why do you ask?" The question was reactive, and almost apathetic. The chubby human was annoyed that someone would bother him out of nowhere, but because it was a Digimon.. he tried not to mind too much. They were just data, anyway. No reason to be nervous around a bunch of binary, eh?
...
Aegiomon felt like he had gained a bit of a lead, especially when the pair took the precious time of a race to stop and look at him, but he couldn't look back to tell. He had no idea if they were catching up to him, or if they had given up. After a bit more leaping, he decided to stop and converse his energy. Better to capitalize on the lead now than blow all of his energy before the finish line was even close. Plus, those two could be having the same idea - the most optimal thing to do would be to pull out your hidden moves at the last second, when your opponent couldn't react to them.
The satyr chided himself for lacking restraint, but he had no time for regrets. As soon as he stopped leaping, Aegiomon switched to a jog, taking advantage of his extra-long legs and making as few steps as possible. Each stride was him stretching ever inch of his legs to gain the maximum distance and using the least energy possible. Not as ground-covering as the leaping technique, but way less costly on his stamina.
Aegiomon did not want to lose. If he lost, he would probably cry, like an ill-mannered child. But he pushed that thought to the back of his mind. No reason to let that dark outcome play out if it wasn't going to, well, play out. So, he kept running with all of his heart.

His eyes widened, at the sight of the loader, "That is... different from what I recall, are you sure that's a digivice or is it some other tool?" He asked, analyzing the loader carefully, it did share some similarities with a new model digivice, such as the ones used by DATS, the human-run digimon enforcement organization he heard of. He only ever heard tell of the organization due to never actually going to the real world, and even when he did, he spent very little time in it. Though, the loader's more cubic shape seemed to match the description of the digivices that rumors suggested. He decided that must be it, could this human be a member of DATS? Either way, it seemed he could care less for the digital world, from his reactions, as he almost immediately seemed mildly irritated, after being shocked, before he tilted his head, "Just curious, you see, if you didn't have a digivice, you would likely find yourself in a lot of trouble very quickly." He replied, maintaining his calm and reasonable disposition. He hoped the human was not paranoid enough to not hear that as a threat, as his steely eyes examined the individual, peering into his eyes and trying to read the human. After a moment, he turned, towards Aegiomon, staring at him as he ran with impressive vigor, "Is that your friend? He seems spirited." He remarked, tilting his head, again, as he turned back towards the bulky human.

John and Casimeir were now beginning to feel a soft burn in their leg muscles now that a distance of four hundred yards remained in their footrace. Confident smiles remained as their expressions despite the advantage the Aegiomon had against them. Whether they would win the race or not, the goal was to finish together as a team. Witnessing Aegiomon begin to pace himself filled the two partners with a boost of morale. By utilizing a particular breathing technique in their run, they could maximize their efficiency. They shot a glimpse at each other and shared an unspoken thought. If they were to win the race, they had to start giving it their all. "In through the nose, out through the mouth!" John instructed to his partner. "Breath in two beats, then exhale!" "Right, John!" Casimeir avowed. "Let's finish this race together!""Alright! Run like the wind!"
Surprisingly, the pair began to quicken their pace, transitioning from a jog to a dash. John could only hope that he and the Agumon had enough energy to be successful. Unfortunately, their cheerful demeanor would be short-lived. Ten yards off the coast from John and Casimeir's position rested a drop-off that led to the deeper waters of the beach. Past the dropoff, the water's surface began to bubble similar to a pot of boiling water. Patrons on the pier were in the best position to witness the occurrence, looking on in wonder and concern. Then, the upper body of a large, angry-looking Seadramon pierced the surface as it shot into the world above the waves. With a thundering roar, it announced its arrival. The outcry from the Seadramon caught John and Casimeir's attention. Sand kicked up from the ground the moment that they skidded to a halt. The partners stared in disbelief while the thirty-eight-foot-tall sea serpent made its way toward the shore. To John and Casimeir, the race didn't matter anymore. The partnered human grit his teeth in unease. "It's coming right for the beach!" John exclaimed. "But why?""I don't know," Casimeir admitted, "but it looks very angry."

The Elecmon was unfortunate to hope against paranoia. Rick was more than a skeptic; he was a prophet of the darkest futures available to his imagination...
...
The Seadramon's cry was a vacuum to the haze of pride over Aegiomon. He slowed to a grinding halt. His body already began to respond with a familiar ache and discomfort. He had really gone all out in the beginning. Gio looked at the monster, and then at his competitors. A bittersweet and petty thought entered his head. They were pretty far behind him - if this hadn't happened, I would have definitely won.
In this moment of shock, he wasted precious seconds and simply stared at the giant digimon.
...
A persona overtook Rick. Relaxed. Carefree. School-mode. A laugh from the bottom of his belly preceded Rick's response, "Oh, well then I'm glad I have one."
Is this digimon aggressive? Or is 'phrasing' not a thing here? Forget it. Just respond to the question and act normal. Look relaxed. Rick raised his eyebrows gently, as if thoughtfully considering. "Yeah, you could say that. He calls me the 'General'."
As if on cue, the Loader beamed information in a robitic, female voice. "Seadramon. Champion-level, Data-type Digimon. Watch out for it's deadly Ice Blast attack."
The voice started Rick so badly he almost dropped the Loader. It had certaintly never done that before.

His fur spiked and crackled when the roar echoed, he quickly scanned the area, swiftly locating the source, the champion level barreling in their direction. He turned back to the human and raised his eyebrow at the change in personality, though he supposed it was welcome over the more cautious being he was just talking to. Despite this, he planted himself down in front of the human, no way he could fight something like this, even though it was likely he couldn't either. "General? Can't say I heard that one before, usually from what I hear, the term is "Partner"." He remarked, eyeing the beast, "We need to move, regardless." He turned back to the human, noticing the voice, and bounding forward, to catch the device in his mouth, and, with unnatural grace, his toothpick remained resolutely in the side of his mouth, despite him baring his teeth to catch it. He then realized the human actually caught it, and felt kind of foolish, "Sorry, But we still need to move." He said, shaking off his nerves, bound tight over years of experience, he shook his head, "That thing is a champion-level, obviously agitated, we need to move if you don't want to be a snack." He warned, his tail sparking as he turned back to the immediate threat.

The many onlookers on the beach reacted in a mixture of ways. The humans and their partners that were more green than the others began the process of locating a haven for the imminent attack. Others stared on in awe or shock, bewildered by the appearance of the serpent-like Digimon. In contrast, a few decided to stand their ground and help out in any way that they could; either by assisting the evacuation or by preparing themselves for a fight. Due to the mass and speed of the Seadramon, a five-foot whitecap had been produced on the water's surface. The wave did not take long to reach the shore, but despite the larger size, it was not enough to deter Casimeir and John from retreating. The partnered human knew that there was the risk of getting knocked back by the kinetic energy of rolling water. In order to stand fast, he quickly devised a plan. "Crouch down and dig your hands into the sand," John instructed to his partner. He followed his own advice, getting to his knees and plunging his bare hands into the dry crystal grains of the seaboard littered with seashells. Casimeir mirrored his teammate. His claws would certainly make a sufficient anchor for the coming rogue wave. "Here it comes!"The curved wall of water hit the partners like a ton of bricks. In the blink of an eye, their dry area was displaced by a phenomenal blue world. Despite the slight irritation of the salt water, the human could make out slightly blurred shapes of panicked fish and lifeless shells caught in the current. Just as quickly as the wave made landfall, the water retreated toward the sea where it belonged. The surrounding sand was now as wet and dark as the surface close to the water's edge. More shells and a few tiny hermit crabs were left behind, those of which hurried to hide from plain view. But to John's amazement, there was what appeared to be a white and purple egg in the sand in front of him. "An egg?" John asked out loud. He couldn't help but reach for the minor distraction despite the Seadramon finally arriving in the vicinity. John shot up to his full height with the egg in hand like a mother protecting her brood. Casimeir stood dutifully at John's side being the loyal partner that he was while striking a fighting pose. "How do you want to do this, John?" the Agumon requested. John considered his options. On the one hand, there were plenty of humans and their partners to take care of this Seadramon, despite not many of them stepping up to the plate. "We'll handle this," John replied with a steel gaze piercing the Seadramon. "If we don't, who will?"John was interrupted when the egg in his grasp started to glow with a brilliant ocean-blue flash. "What's happening?" he asked in a shocked voice. In an instant, Casimeir began to glow in the same fashion. "John," the dinosaur effused, "I'm Digivolving!"The egg that John held then floated toward Casimeir before becoming absorbed by his body. John gazed at the display, awestruck by what he saw with his eyes. "Digivolving?" he whispered. The Seadramon was equally distracted by the exhibition. Thankfully, it was deterring him from making any attacks for the tome being. Both John and the rogue sea beast stared while the Agumon's body transformed into a form of rushing water. "Agumon! Armor Digivolve to!" The silhouette thereupon took the shape of an enormous lizard with its outline resembling a prehistoric aquatic creature. The liquid surrounding Casimeir thus dispersed to reveal the Digimon's new form which in turn covered the partnered human with a splash of water once again. "Tylomon!"
