Spirit Conference (Alicia/Asher)

Alicia sighed softly as she stepped foot on the beach. It was still a bit jarring to go from cement one second and sand the next, but she made the transition quite smoothly. As soon as Asher was through, another swipe closed the portal up behind her and she smiled softly. Sol and Kisara wasted no time in appearing at her sides. The dragon hummed, crossing his arms and already sitting down so as to make his large figure less imposing then it normally is. The ice maiden, on the other hand…
She’d taken to the scenery change like a fish to water, abandoning her standard robes for a form fitting two piece in sky blue with a purple snow flake on the right side of the top piece. “Wee! That digiport was the best thing to ever happen, by far!” the ice maiden chimed out.
Alicia in turn grumbled, reaching out to Sol. “Borrowing your coat.” She told him. He shrugged it off and smiled, letting her take it. Though when she rolled it up into a tight ball at first, he quirked his eyebrow. Then Alicia chucked it at Kisara, who was smacked on the head with it and fell over. “Next time warn me when you’re going to do something like that! And put that on in the meantime!” Alicia shouted out with a grimace.
Kisara just pout at her and put the coat on, wrapping her smaller body in its folds as it pooled at her feet. Sol was a good four feet taller then even the tallest of humans, so it was no surprise the ice maiden was metaphorically drowning in it.
“I’m so sorry Asher… where were we again…?” she noted to the other spirit user with a sigh.

Following through the portal, the redhead shifted slightly at the feeling of sand under his shoes. It was definitely a bit disorienting, but nothing that the teen couldn't quickly adjust to! Now, if only he'd have been wearing shorts and sandals, instead of jeans and sneakers! Ah well. Anything was better than continuing their otherworldly conversation inches away from his workplace!
Even if that 'anything' involved an energetic spirit-woman and a literal dragon plopping out of nowhere! Watching the two appear was far more jarring than moving from cement to beach sand! Remaining quiet for a moment, Asher decided that it was an acceptable time to fully take in what the advisors looked like. Or -- uh -- actually, now that Asher had seen Kisara in a swimsuit, he decided that it was far more appropriate to observe the appearance of Sol, instead! How did a creature that big fit inside someone's head, anyway? Was that how things even worked? Ugh. Asher had so many strange questions that were never appropriate to even ask! Did the dragon-adviser have to order custom chairs, when he was alive? Wait, was that ever even a thing that Sol prioritized? Or, was he never really alive to begin with?
...Oh no, Asher was about to start thinking far too deeply on this subject!
"I hope you don't mind me staring," he finally commented to Sol, trying not to ask anything particularly outlandish, "it's really not every day that I have such 'interesting' company." Yes. Interesting. Literal dragons, spirit users, and ice maidens that had rapid-wardrobe-changes definitely fell under the 'interesting' category!
Yellow eyes flickered to see Kisara getting hit in the face with an over-sized coat, still trying to process that this was, in fact, real life. Sometimes, this Digital World stuff really seemed like a cartoon instead of reality! Waiting for the female adviser to put on the large article of clothes, Asher raised an eyebrow. Couldn't she have just put back on her other outfit? Eh, it was probably best not to overthink that.
Giving a curious hum, the redhead debated on trying to further derail their actual reasons for coming here. "You wanted to talk about something, I think," the young man answered, with a small smile. "Though, I'm not fully sure what that was." Judging from their conversations earlier, he could easily deduct what their topic was going to be, but why make things that simple? After all, he'd practically been given a heart attack from her visit at his work! Playing stupid was a tiny form of payback for that kind of thing!

Alicia sighed softly and shook her head, brushing some strands of hair back. “Ha… yeah this is what I deal with on a daily basis. I’ll try and stay away to keep you out of the worst of it… but Kisara does have a tendency to spring things on me like this.” the Steel Spirit User muttered out.
”Aw, what’s wrong Asher? Do I look bad in this or something?” Kisara quipped with a grin. She knew exactly why he looked away, but tormenting him a bit seemed like such a good idea that she rocked the metaphorical boat a bit more.
”I’m long used to getting odd stares.” Sol commented as he hummed. ”And we make for an odd trinity to say the least. So I’m hardly surprised by that too.” A tail suddenly lashed out as Kisara sneaked up closer, sending the ice maiden falling into the sand with a yelp. ”Enough.” The dragon intoned seriously to her.
“Right, talking. Isaac’s a good friend of mine, practically a little brother to me in all but blood relation as far as I’m concerned. So him being gone so long has scared me and I want answers anywhere I can get them. How much, if anything, has he told you, or you found out from him?” Alicia returned to the topic at hand, folding her arms behind her back as she bit her lower lip in obvious concern. This was clearly eating at her more then she let on at the restaurant's premises.

"I kind of like this, honestly," the young man admitted, looking over to Alicia. How much effort was it to keep her advisers in check, anyway? "Makes everything feel 'busy', if that makes sense." And warm? The trio certainly were odd, but it wasn't in a bad way!
Now that Asher had acclimated to the group a little, and didn't need to worry about people thinking that he was talking to invisible entities, his reactions to Kisara grew notably less subtle. With a slight shift of personality, eyes softened and a more confident smile fell across his lips, while directing his attention to the dressed-up (or, dressed-down?) female. Placing a hand on his hip, the ex-actor seemed to be fully intending on taking on a flirtatious role. "Ah, of course not. I'm just afraid if I look at you, I'll be too captivated by your beauty to focus on anything else." How cheesy was that? With a click of his tongue, his little act ended, returning to a more casual expression and looking away from the ice maiden again. "More seriously, it's rude to stare, isn't it?" So, staring at a giant dragon was more polite? Wow. What priorities he had!
In hindsight, if Elliot had seriously thought that Asher should have been attempting some sort of relationship with Alicia, pulling such a move on her adviser was probably less than ideal. But, it wasn't like he had been given the opportunity to say something like that to the other spirit user, instead! Nor would he want to, since it was such a dumb reaction! But, for some reason, it felt appropriate for such a 'dramatic' woman!
Barely looking back to see Kisara fall into the sand, Asher couldn't help but try to make it clear that the maiden really wasn't that disruptive. Well, okay, she definitely was! But! "She's fine, really. It's all in good fun. I think," he added the last part uncertainly. Asher seriously didn't know any of the group well enough to be positive on any of their intents for anything!
And, maybe that was why he was still hesitant to speak too much of Isaac to Alicia. "Well, he mostly told Her," this was followed up with a small tap against his temple, trying to clarify that he was speaking about his rabbit 'companion.' "But, we share the same head-space, so I mostly have the memories of what he told her. Which, is... a bit." Or a lot. Isaac had really needed to vent to someone, it seemed. Of course he'd pick a strange rabbit!
Looking over Alicia, Asher subtly mimicked the lip-bite, while debating on what was appropriate to reveal, without risking too much. "It wasn't too long ago that I saw him. He's just," there was a pause, while eyes shifted to look around the area a little, "living in this world for a while. That's probably why you haven't been able to see him."

The mechanic sighed and face palmed. “Of course you would. You don’t deal with it every day. Though I guess that Rabbit would be your equivalent, huh? At the very least Sol usually handles himself. It’s Kisara who makes me want to pull my hair out from time to time.” Alicia answered back, sighing to herself again. “Sheesh, it’s a wonder I don’t actually have gray hairs.” As soon as she said that, she realized that she’d probably already said that once today so… oh well…
”Hehehe...” The ice maiden smiled as she chuckled, sitting up and brushing some sand off. ”Maybe I want to be the center of attention? Would really be so rude if it’s merely a result of desire from the one being gazed upon? Still, I like that you can be a gentleman. I have to say though, that is one of the most cliche’ lines I’ve ever heard. Props to selling it so well, as it were.”
Kisara grinned after that and folded her hand behind her head, yawning a bit and laying back. Which let the coat open up as she did. Oddly enough, she seemed content with the mess she caused already, and was content to hang back at the moment. The dragon spirit, on the other hand, shook his head. ”All in good fun it may be, but best not get caught up in any rhythm she decides to start up. You might be surprised where you end up if you do. I should know, early on I’d gotten caught up in many a scheme hatched by her.” Sol noted with a nod of his head.
“That… would explain why he hasn’t answered any of my messages and hasn’t shown up anywhere in Shibuya...” Alicia muttered. Oh what was she supposed to do in this kind of scenario!? Suddenly the older woman practically leaped at Asher and grabbed him firmly by the shoulders. “T-Then what do you remember from what he said to that rabbit!? Something, anything to at least know whats wrong. Where he might’ve gone would be even better. Please...”
This close now, there was no hiding the tears building in her eyes. She suspected she might not have wanted to, even if the possibility existed. Surrogates to one another they may be but he was still family!
And family always looked out for each other, to the best of their ability. That’s how it should be.

"Hm?" Giving a thoughtful look, the young man shook his head, "oh, no, I've only had her for a few days. I'm really not used to that yet." While Asher hadn't particularly wanted to admit his lack of experience in the Spirit User thing, it wasn't like there was really any shame in it. He hadn't been doing this for too long, after all!
It was really no surprise that Kisara brought up the concept of wanting to be the center of attention. In fact, it was almost expected! It probably got boring without people being able to see her all the time. Either that, or the ice maiden was just always like that! "Thanks," he hummed, content enough with any sort of compliment toward his gentleman actions or his ability to sell cheesy lines. "I try." Sometimes, maybe a little too much!
Despite Sol being the largest being here, by far, Asher found himself the least concerned about monitoring his word choices with the dragon. "Is that how you ended up being spirits?" Or, really, whatever they were. Sure, a question like that could be considered insensitive, but the teen had tried to place an innocent enough tone to the question to imply that he wasn't intending on hard feelings. If Kisara was at fault for that 'scheme', Asher could easily see how it would be ill advised to get too wrapped up in her games!
Not that the redhead had too much time to think on the duo, because he was far more focused on the other spirit user's grip on him! Almost instantly, Asher tensed, holding his breath. Eyes flickered to quickly examine the woman's face, while trying not to visibly panic too badly. Was she going to cry? It really looked like it! But, that didn't mean she wasn't going to completely flip out on him in the next few seconds if she felt like it!
Trying to force himself to remain calm, Asher carefully reached up a hand, to place over one of Alicia's that was gripping his other shoulder. The motion was hesitant, half-expecting a less than ideal reaction from the additional physical contact. "Hey," he murmured, attempting to settle the woman down, "take a deep breath. He's alive. He's okay." Those were the most important things, right? "But, before I say anything more about him, you have to promise me a couple of things." It was always best to take precautions, wasn't it? And, with any luck, a little talking and thought beforehand could help calm Alicia down a little!
"One. You're not going to run off right after this, so you can to try to find him. It's not going to help either of you, if you hunt him down in a panic." Especially not if Isaac was in his jumpy, new form! And, two. You have to promise that you're prepared to hear whatever I'm going to tell you." Because, right now, Alicia didn't necessarily look in the best state to hear any potentially bad news!

”Ahaha, no, thankfully.” Sol noted to the question of whether one of Kisara’s schemes had resulted in their current condition. ”That was caused by an entirely unrelated matter. She’s not going to get anyone killed at the very least...” Intentionally that is, but he decided to keep that bit to himself.
Alicia, on the other hand, wasn’t taking the demands all that well. “Alive, sure. Okay? I seriously doubt that...” she muttered under her breath. “He never ignores me, especially not for this long...” She wasn’t exactly escalating things right now, but she wasn’t toning them down either. So they were left in a conundrum where Alicia wasn’t willing to relent on her intentions, but Asher wouldn’t release any information until she swore to not go charging off to find Isaac. The being prepared to hear possibly bad news went without saying. She had already expected to find out things she didn’t like about the circumstances hounding Isaac.
A veritable unstoppable force and immovable object scenario that was bound to escalate in some way if neither party backed down. Fortunately, there were mediators on the unstoppable force’s side that could at least redirect her.
Setting a hand on the woman’s shoulder, Kisara, with an unusually serious expression, cleared her throat to get Alicia’s attention. ”Asher’s right, regardless of how badly you want to go and do something about whatever is troubling Isaac. Your thoughts are frayed with panic. You’re standing on a razor’s edge between justified worry and all consuming rage. And if you will not think, then you must feel out what your heart knows must be done for both of you.” The ice maiden spoke calmly and quietly, her grip managing to be both tense and tender at the same time.
Alicia bit her lip, arms tensing enough to quake... before she finally let go and took a step away, backing down from the building standoff. “... I’m sorry, Asher...” she spoke meekly, trying to wipe away the unshed tears.

Well, it was at least relieving to know that Kisara wasn't that bad of an influence! Though, the wording didn't imply that injuries weren't a strong possibility. It was probably for the best that Sol had given some sort of warning of playing too far into the ice maiden's antics!
Having his focus primarily on the other spirit user, Asher caught every word that the woman was saying. Sure, he could have pretended not to hear her doubting him, but it didn't quite feel right to! "Maybe our definitions of 'okay' are different." Isaac was breathing and functioning! Even if it was in a completely different body than his primary one, and he seemed more than a bit mentally shaken! Either way, the teen seemed intent on following through with his conditions, and pressed his lips tightly shut, while waiting for some sort of agreement.
Luckily, Kisara was the one to move the subject along. It was really weird that the ice maiden was the voice of reason right now! It was also kind of strange to hear someone siding with him for once! Even if she was a weird head-spirit-thing! This day was just really strange to him, overall.
Feeling Alicia release her hold, the redhead's eyes widened in confusion. "Why are you sorry?" Was it because of the manhandling? Because he was already starting to get used to that! Oh, shoot, wait, Alicia wasn't actually crying, was she? "It's-" Don't go into big brother mode! You cannot give strange women hugs! Especially if they can turn into potentially dangerous dragons! Tensing slightly to avoid doing anything stupid, Asher continued, "-alright. You really don't need to cry." Or, uh, almost-cry? Whatever. She was in emotional distress, and it wasn't okay!
Shifting the weight between his feet, the young man tried to think of whatever he could that could be uplifting. "I swear, if Isaac wasn't okay, I would be with him right now. I wouldn't have been at work, of all places." Surely, that wouldn't bring much comfort, but at least Asher could attempt to make Alicia realize that Isaac wasn't on his deathbed!

“Yes... It seems they are...” Alicia sighed, fixing an unamused stare on Asher at that comment. His “okay” seemed to be a lot more lenient then hers and it was starting to frustrate her. To the point she was beginning to wonder what anybody saw in this guy. And was he naturally like this or did he have a rough time growing up and all this lack of attachment was a coping mechanism? Not important right now, alas.
Another sigh echoed out, this time from Sol as he placed his hand over his face. ”Regardless of intentions and reassurances things are the way they are right now. The choices have been made as they seemed appropriate to those who made them. All that can be done is to continue onward.” The dragon noted, getting up. ”I suggest you consider removing yourself from the vicinity, Alicia, you’re so tense I can see involuntary twitches from here. Kisara, if you would?”
“W-Wait a minute, why are you- Eeh!?” The spirit user spoke up, before she was promptly grabbed by the ice maiden and dragged away, flailing. “Wait! Sol, Kisara, why!?” More protests spilled forth, falling on deaf ears until she realized she was just going to have to put up with the more composed dragon acting in her stead. At that point she fell silent and just sighed, hanging her head. It also had the effect of extricating Kisara from the situation as well, so they could focus on the matter at hand.
”Well, now that that’s done... As I suspect you understand, when a younger sibling, adopted or otherwise, the elder is spurred to action out of distress and things can quickly escalate out of control. Alicia especially takes threats to those she views as family as seriously as they were threats against her own safety. I’m afraid there’s no way to fully calm her or soothe her nerves until Isaac turns up and is well and truly out of the woods with regards to his current predicament. She comes purely from a place of concern, even if she gets a fair bit over eager to act on impulses.”
Taking a moment, he shake his head and look over his shoulder to check on the two girls. Alicia seemed to be taking Sol’s suggestion to Kisara pretty badly, sitting in the sands curled up and openly sulking at being yanked out of the conversation. Still, she was respecting his call on the matter on account of his experience and wisdom. Kisara, meanwhile, was still fairly animated, doing what she could to get Alicia focused on something else for the time being.
”I doubt she’ll be able to stay that way for long. Already I can see signs that she plans to charge right back into the situation and get the answers she wants any way she can. Knowing something is wrong and leaving it be by choice is anathema to the core of her being, much like it is for mine. That’s why when we realized you had some idea of what was going, all three of us metaphorically pounced on the presented opportunity.
... And if you were going to ask, no, the adoption part is only metaphorical. No paperwork on the matter was actually made and approved and what not. Doesn’t change that she sees the Sunderland brothers as her own siblings though.”

If only Alicia was aware how close to accurate one of those thoughts were! But, wasn't it better to avoid riling everyone up, as long as Isaac was breathing and capable of functioning? Thankfully, Alicia wasn't a mind-reader. Otherwise, Asher would probably have a lot of problems on his hands!
Remaining silent for the time being, Asher let Kisara take away Alicia, without any protest. Maybe it was for the best. This woman was not in a good state to hear about Isaac right now! Until he was sure that Alicia wasn't part of the conversation anymore, yellow eyes remained trained on her, despite Sol's talking. "Mmm," he hummed, finally looking back to Sol, after much of the explanation had already passed. "I have a little sister, Isaac's age. I know how the big-sibling thing works," he finally responded, trying to sound as gentle about it as he could. After all, it wasn't like he wanted to come off as a jerk to someone that was just explaining the situation to him!
At least, with Alicia off to the side, Asher almost instantly seemed less tense. Not entirely relaxed, but it was certainly progress! How was talking to a dragon less intimidating than talking to a woman?! Oh, wait. It probably had something to do with those volatile emotions of hers. Jeez, women were scary sometimes.
Taking a deep breath, the young man adjusted his glasses, almost nervously. "And-- I won't admit this to anyone else, but you're a literal dragon. And this entire thing is crazy. So, I guess, why not," he started, in an almost rambling fashion. "I kind of see them as family, too. Otherwise, I wouldn't keep trying to protect him." Sure, it probably wasn't nearly as close to the bond that Alicia had with the brothers, but it wasn't easy for Asher to find anyone that he trusted! And, as far as he was concerned, friends weren't really people that he could rely on. Isaac had given him plenty of reason to be able to trust him, even if Asher would probably bite his own tongue off before telling his coworker that! Though, at this rate, he was going to get in trouble at his job for covering for someone that wasn't actually sick. Or, at least, not 'sick' in the conventional manner! "If she goes after him, in his current state, she's probably going to upset both of them."
Shoving his hands into his pockets, Asher glanced toward Alicia again, before turning his focus solely onto Sol. "He's alive, both mentally and physically functioning." Perfectly? Heck no. But, it was better than the alternatives! "She can't fix what's wrong, and if she finds him and even startles him, I'm going to feel at fault. Do you kind of see why I'm hesitant to say what's going on?"

”Ah, I was worried for a second that you were an only child and wouldn’t fully understand. To have younger sibling of your own- I’m cutting that thought off before I get on a completely unrelated tangent.” Shaking his head, the dragon spirit smiled to himself and sighed. ”I wonder if I’m the only one who finds your relaxed state at the switch up amusing.”
Even as volatile as a woman’s emotions could be at the worst of times, dragons were beasts of myth that razed entire towns for crying out loud! If he ever had anyone he could relate this to who both would actually believe him and didn’t know Sol personally, they would probably ask what was wrong with him! ”He does have a way of shoving his way into one’s heart, regardless of intentions.” Taking a moment to listen to Asher, he hummed to himself.
”All true statements that I cannot deny, I’m afraid...” he mused, taking a glance at Alicia. ”Alas, being with me has fully awakened a stubbornness unlike any other in Alicia. She’s bound determined to see her intentions through, one way or another. She won’t admit it, but she understands she probably is not capable of fixing what has gone wrong. The problem is that currently known behavior suggests Isaac’s condition could easily accelerate to a critical point.
With one last sigh, the dragon looked up. ”Terribly sorry to waste your time like this, though. Knowing who she is, I suggest you discard the fault of the situation. If it wasn’t from you, she’d get it from someone else somehow and the same result occurs. With that in mind, is there any more detail you know about Isaac’s situation that you’d be willing to share?”
It was gentle enough of a press for information, at least.

Sol really did sound like some wise old man, didn't he? Even to the point of almost rambling about having younger siblings. But, with his next comment, Asher found himself giving a half smile, for a half-joke, "hey, women are scary." And Alicia proved to be no exception to that! Between irritable female spirits and women with dragon companions, Asher really wasn't seeing how women weren't alarming in some way! Antylamon would approve of this thought process.
But with everything that the teen dealt with involving Digimon, somehow dragons really weren't one of his fears! Surely, some sort of psychologist would love a look into Asher's head for this sort of logic. Women could be scary, but dragons couldn't? Then again, it wasn't like Sol was burning down harmless villages, or anything! And, Asher certainly wasn't going to ask if he ever had!
Throwing another glance to Alicia, the redhead lowered his voice. "He can't turn back into a human," he finally stated, while trying to make sure that the other spirit user didn't come racing over to listen in. "Sounds like he might have it figured out on how to turn back. But, it might take a while," he added, trying to make sure that the situation wouldn't sound too terrible. After all, it was better to state that there might be a cure, rather than just letting someone think that the problem was going to be permanent!
At least Sol knew a better way to get Asher to talk than Alicia did, it seemed!
"I saw him a couple of days ago. He's not hurt or anything. Just," there was a pause, while Asher thought of a proper descriptor, "stressed." And for good reason!

”Heh...” Sol mused a bit to himself as he looked back over to where Kisara and Alicia were. He went quiet at that, as if recalling a distant memory. ”They certainly can be when properly motivated...” Perhaps the ice maiden had done some things that warranted a careful handling for even a short while? At that point, he refocused on what Asher was saying.
”I... see... that is troubling.” Unable to change back to a human form? That had all kinds of terrible implications. Now he was glad he had the girls removed from the conversation when he did. ”It was for the best that I pulled Alicia out of this. She would not have taken this news calmly. It simply wouldn’t possible in her current state.”
Nodding to himself, the dragon sighed softly. ”Truly, thank you Asher. I’ll find a way to break it to her gently. It would be too cruel to deny her that knowledge, even if she knows she won’t like what she hears.” With a snap of his fingers, Sol alerted Kisara that he was done with the stressful parts of the conversation.
In turn, the ice maiden perked up and brought Alicia back to the group. The wielder of Steel looked at the dragon spirit expectantly. “Well...?”
”Later, sweetheart, once we’ve let Asher go on his way back home.” Kisara cut in, earning a glare from Alicia that she promptly brushed off. ”You’re not in a condition to really hear what’s been said right now.”
”Indeed. Well then, our matters are finished at any rate.” Quirking any eyebrow at Asher, though, the dragon mused softly. ”Is there anything you would like to ask of us in turn? I’d hate to just make demands and then be off without even attempting to offer assistance in return.”
They did kind of owe him for the time they took sorting through this mess.

At least Sol wouldn't outright deny the statement. Surely someone like Kisara could be more than capable of proving Asher correct, and considering the obvious history between the dragon and ice maiden, Sol would be the perfect person (spirit?) to have experienced such! At least Sol seemed reasonable enough that he wasn't going to be quite as terrifying with potential nerve-wracking news.
Giving a nod at Sol's statement, the redhead couldn't help but agree. Sure, he didn't know Alicia particularly well. Or, at all, really. But, it didn't take much to know that this was a subject she wouldn't take lightly. "I had a feeling," he hummed, softly. With any luck, the woman's adviser would have an easier time communicating the issue! Without making the situation worse, at least! "I don't really understand the details." Rubbing the back of his neck, yellow eyes glanced to the side. It was really hard to focus on Isaac's issue, when a rabbit monster had control of his body, and he was mostly unconscious! And, even for the parts where he was awake, his focus had been pretty hazy! Sure, their memories were shared, but it wasn't quite the same as having a moment to process it in person, as it was happening.
Now, he looked back to Sol, as Alicia and Kisara returned to the meeting. To his surprise, the ice maiden was the one holding Alicia back for now. Asher really needed to expect such responsible reactions from Kisara by now! But, at the same time, she seemed to bounce between serious and ridiculous so often that it could be dizzying. Perhaps, it was best to just be surprised by her every action, instead. It might actually save him a headache!
Partially relieved at the idea of parting from a temperamental spirit user, the teen began to shake his head. "No, I think I'm--" Letting his brain catch up to his mouth, Asher pressed his lips tightly together, debating for a second. "Actually." Oh. It seemed that something had come to mind! And, judging from the fact that his eyes were clearly focusing to the side of the group, it was an uncomfortable request. "Some advice?"
Ah. Yes. Someone like Asher, asking for advice? That was probably a sting to the pride! Or, more realistically, just discomforting. "I don't really have control over Antylamon." Tongue clicked to the roof of his mouth, as he provided the very obvious piece of information. Nobody liked to state that they weren't the sole operator of their actions! "Do you have any advice for fixing that?"
