The sun welcomed Tokomon as he woke from his sleep. Birds were chirping outside his window, greeting the day. The young little Digimon waddled across his room to his closet where he rummaged around until he found the perfect outfit for the sunny day. He slid himself into his bluest pair of overalls and made sure to check himself in the mirror before proceeding downstairs.
Tokomon's parents were waiting for him as he entered the dining room. His mother, an accomplished Angewomon, smiled as his father, Leomon, plopped another pancake onto her plate. "Good morning, dear," said his mother sweetly. Tokomon smiled and replied, "Good morning, mom! Good morning dad! I think today is the day!" His parents looked at him, expressing confusion. "Today is the day I become a Rookie! Just like the other kids in my class!! You know. Then I won't be the smallest anymore!" His parents smiled softly at their ambitious little 'mon.
"Hey!! Save any breakfast for me? Or did little piggy Tokomon eat them all!?" The voice came from a Tsukaimon who entered from the room in a flashy manner, flapping his wings needlessly. Tokomon scowled at his brother, doing his best to ignore him. For the past several weeks, Tsukaimon had been more and more obnoxious about having become a rookie. This made Tokomon feel extremely upset, as he and Tsukaimon were twins and had been in competition ever since they hatched from their mother's egg.
"Now now," said Angewomon, "No need for name calling. There's enough food for everyone. Tsukai, don't be so rude to your brother!" Tsukaimon gave her a rebellious look and then scarfed down what was on his plate.
Soon after, Leomon bid farewell to his wife as she left for work before rounding up the kids and driving them to school. Their morning commute, as per usual, was filled with many pokes and jabs between Tokomon and his brother. It was rare for them not to fight. After being scolded by their father for the hundredth time, they finally reached their destination. TSukamon quickly left the car, soaring onto the playground to join his posse consisting of a dopey-looking Goblimon and a DemiDevimon. Tokomon wasn't fond of his brother or his friends as they often picked on him. Tokomon waddled his way to his own friend group which consisted of his best friends-- Otamamon and Gotsumon. Tokomon was glad they weren't Motimon because that period of their friendship was awfully confusing.
Tokomon said to his friends, "I think today is the day, you guys. I'm gonna do it!" They both smiled, and Gotsumon said, "You said that last week! Don't think about it too much! It'll happen eventually. You're overdue for it." Tokomon shrugged. It was a good point but the anticipation was dreadful.
The day went on as it usually did, except today included a field trip for Tokomon's class. They were going to go tour a power plant-- the biggest one in Terminus. Upon arrival, Tokomon noticed his brother and his posse wander off. Knowing they were up to no good, Tokomon decided to follow them. Tsukaimon and his pals had wandered off into a restricted area. It looked to be an abandoned section of the plant, scheduled for demolition. It looked as though it might collapse in on itself.
"Stop right now or I'm telling! You guys are going to get hurt if you keep poking around here!"
Tokomon looked fiercely at the posse. His brother laughed and smirked. "Is that a threat?" he asked in a mocking tone. Tokomon scowled.
"No. That's me telling you you're going to get us all in trouble and we won't get to go on field trips again! Plus you're going to get hurt if you stick around too long. This place is dangerous!" Tokomon was losing patience. Tsukaimon laughed. "Crybaby Tokomon is scared!? HA! What else is new?!" Tsukaimon shoved his brother into a wall which swayed upon contact. Tokomon got up slowly. He took a step forward to confront his brother but the floor crumbled under him. He fell a little ways before landing in what seemed to be a dark basement. He looked up but could not see any sign of his brother. He knew Tsukaimon wouldn't come get him. Even if he had wings, he was too big of a coward to actually come help Tokomon out of this hole.
Tokomon began searching for a way out, feeling the wall for anything remniscience of a door. After an hour of searching he had given up and returned to where he had fallen. He noticed, under a piece of rubble from the floor above, a device. It was rectangular and flat and the screen seemed to be lighting up faintly. Tokomon picked it up and felt it pulsate as though it were a beating heart. The screen flickered, cast light onto the space in front of him, allowing him to see where he actually was.
There were computers in neat rows, and judging by the looks of them they had been down here for nearly two or three decades. Tokomon brushed the dust off of one of them and, as if by his touch, it booted up. Numbers flashed along the edge of the screen and code began to move about the screen. Tokomon looked at it in awe. He had never seen something so strange in his life. The screen looked as though it was getting closer to him, as if something was pushing it towards him from behind the screen. The device in his hand beeped and the screen flickered violently until something erupted from it.
Tokomon threw himself backwards as a flesh-colored creature with brown bits of fur on its head, equipped with some sort of blue armor, lay in a heap on the floor. Tokomon was terrified. He had never seen such a thing. It looked reminiscence of his mother, but seemed to be lacking winds or a headpiece. Tokomon had never seen a digimon quite like this.
The creature began stirring and Tokomon backed away towards the corner furthest from the computers. The creature raised its head and looked at Tokomon with a pair of glistening, blue eyes. "Where am I...? Tokomon was amazed. It spoke! Tokomon was in disbelief. "T-Ter minus City. What are you?" Tokomon said. The creature looked perplexed. It shook it's head and said, "I am a variation of the Amane. I'm a Kitsumaru Amane. I'm a human." Tokomon approached him slowly as he seemed to be somewhat nonthreatening. Kitsumaru looked shocked as Tokomon grew nearer.
"That device you have! That's a smartphone. I've heard of this. I must be your partner human." Tokomon was amazed. A smart phone? What made it so smart? Tokomon stared at the screen. Tokomon asked, "why are you here? And what is this smart thing even good for?" The human smiled and said, "Here. Let me explain. You can call me Kitsu. I'm here to save your world."
"Save it? From what?"
The human's face grew solemn.
"I'm here to save you from a great evil. In my world, there exists a great evil, born of darkness. He goes around destroying everything. He enslaves those he deems worthy and kills the rest. He plans to come here to take over this world too. He needs to be stopped."
Tokomon couldn't believe it. This was insane. Their world was going to be taken over by a funny looking creature such as this one? He had to be mistaken.
"That's where you come in. Digimon have been rumored to be able to unlock the power residing deep inside humans like me. That device, when used correctly, can help me transform into more powerful forns. I'm CURRENTLY In My Adult Stage. In order for me to transform further, I need you to--"
CRASH!!!
Both Digimon and human quickly looked over to the computer. A large piece of the floor above had fallen onto it and a bright light began to form.
"The portal is closing quickly, me must move," said the human frantically. He grabbed Tokomon's front right foot and pulled him into the light.
