And she didn't.
The digimons around decided to intervene a little too late. Maybe due to their own doubts, maybe just in sheer horror of what was happening in front of their very eyes; deep down, maybe because most of them were rookies just like the ChibiKamemon and didn't want to risk getting deleted just like their peer at the moment. However, the deed was finished soon enough.
First, the turtle's data began to disassemble until she couldn't maintain her rookie form anymore, eventually devolving into Chapmon and enduring just a couple of attacks before her body disintegrated for good.
Data particles began to flood the air wildly, moments before DinoHumon himself made his presence known in what had been the battlefield moments before. His expression was one of mixed grief and disgust, and was currently staring at the Piyomon angrily.
"What is the meaning of this?" One hand was already gripping the sword on his back as he kept approaching. "Such a heinous crime. Explain yourself, now"

With her enemy vanquished, there was was nothing standing in Birdie's way. As the ChibiKamemon regressed to a Chapmon then to raw data, Birdie stopped her rampant pecks and spread her wings as wide as she could, displaying the terrifying, glaring purple eyes on the inside of her feathers. ChibiKamemon's essence drifted upwards through the sky but, as if Birdie's display magnetized them, they turned direction and went into the Biyomon's chest instead. Birdie wasn't the only one who had been ill-informed about how to achieve power. Many Digimon had the assumption that strength came from deleting rivals and consuming their data. More data equaled more power. It seemed to make so much sense. Unfortunately, there was no proof that this method actually worked. Fighting could help a Digimon gain experience, but killing and stealing the data of a rival had no correlation to strength. It was simply an extra measure taken by devious Digimon to prevent a rival from being reborn and seeking vengeance in their next life. Perhaps, deep down, Birdie knew that absorbing the data wasn't a valid way of getting stronger, but she continued anyway.
Birdie was about halfway through collecting her rival's data when a booming voice interrupted her. She knew immediately who it was: DinoHumon. She knew him. She had come to the Training Grounds a few times before, mostly only as a Puwamon, though. The walls were tall and the Digimon here were usually protective of those inside. As much as she hated to admit it, she had come to the Training Grounds in seek of protection and to harness some of her abilities. It was a vulnerable time in her life, and perhaps that was part of the reason she wanted to return and show off her new Rookie strength -- to show that she could no longer be pushed around. She was no longer helpless. She could take care of herself, and then some!
Wild and manic eyes whipped toward DinoHumon as he demanded to know what was going on. DinoHumon was an Adult Digimon. He was also surrounded by a handful of other Digimon, looking eager for a fight. They would difficult to take on, especially after the battle Birdie had just been in. She hated the idea of backing down from a fight, but she valued her life over her pride. Without giving a proper response to DinoHumon's questions, Birdie flapped her wings twice and lifted from the ground. She hovered for a moment, deciding on if she would be able to make an escape without being harmed. She decided that she could. She was fast enough, and if he was able to use a long-range attack, she would be able to dodge or counter with Chirping Attack.
However, just as Birdie was able to make her escape, Unica spoke. "PLEASE!" the young human sobbed, tears streaming down her face and mucus dripping from her nostrils. Her eyes were puffy, nose and cheeks were red, and her body trembled. She saw what was happening and was hysterical about it. Why couldn't Birdie be nice? Why was this big lizard so angry? She wanted him to stop yelling at her friend. Why couldn't everyone just get along? It didn't make any sense! When she first came to this strange world, she had met a nice lady and a strange cat-dog and a funny bunny. Why was this time so different? In desperation, Unica stumbled to DinoHumon and tugged on his pant leg. "Don't be mad! Please! I'm sorry!" Unica didn't even know what she was apologizing for, though her subconscious probably thought that she had to apologize for Birdie's actions.
This was perfect for Birdie. She knew DinoHumon and she knew his type: gentle, caring, respectful. At the very least, he would have broken eye contact long enough to see who was tugging on his pants. That was Birdie's opening, and she would seize it. Her human partner had proved to be invaluable in the fight against ChibiKamemon, so she really didn't need the child. She would make her escape as soon as DinoHumon's concentration was broken. The poor child would have to manage by herself. She wouldn't be Birdie's problem anymore.

It was a bit aggravating, how the digimon hadn't shown intent to explain herself. In all honesty, it sounded like your every day common thing trying to use the training grounds for their benefit.
And that was something unforgivable, as far as Dinohumon was concerned. This was a place that promoted excellence at honorable martial combat. And, as far as he knew, this had been among the most dishonorable acts he had witnessed in a fair bit of time. Consequences being expected was pretty much a given.
Alas, there was a small spanner thrown in the works. The human child; apparently, she stood agaisnt what the group deemed as fair? Those beings from the parallel world didn't inspire him any trust. And in all honesty... he wasn't sure about what to do.
"Regrettably, that digimon has committed a crime. The best I can ensure is a fair trial if they stay here. Otherwise..."
Letting them go wasn't something he'd do. Whether the Piyomon came willingly or not, that was pretty much up to the pair.

Birdie wanted to leave. Unica wanted peace. Unfortunately, neither would be possible without there first being conflict. Unica, for one, didn't know what DinoHumon had planned, but she did know that it wasn't anything good. He was angry, and angry people did mean things. When Birdie was angry, she made the nice turtle disappear. Is that what the big lizard was going to do to Birdie? Would he do that to Unica? Being so young, she didn't understand the necessity for punishment. She still believed everyone could live off rainbows, lollypops, and hugs; a foolish and naive notion, perhaps, but it was one she was having a hard time letting go. The reality of the situation was difficult for her to understand fully because she had never been confronted with such a mature situation before. Murder? That was something most adults were unable to handle, nevertheless a child.
When the turtle man looked down at her, an annoyed and frustrated expression on his face, Unica let go of his pant leg and took a hesitant step backward. Sobs got stuck in her throat and she found herself coughing and wailing as he explained how Birdie had committed a crime. DinoHumon's words weren't cruel, and his steadfast demeanor probably wasn't as a result of Unica, but rather Birdie. And yet, Unica couldn't help but feel her chest tighten and her emotions flooding out in the form of tears and mucus. She didn't want him to erase Birdie. She didn't want him to erase her. While, in reality, this didn't seem to be DinoHumon's plan, it was still the belief that Unica held on to.
DinoHumon's words wandered then, perhaps because he realized that he couldn't get through to the young girl, or perhaps because he spotted Birdie trying to make her escape. And it was true, she had taken the chance to flap her wings and launch herself skyward. Once she was a good distance away, she spread her wings out wide and opened her beak to holler out, "Chirping Attack!" However, she wasn't using it how one would expect; she didn't use it as an actual attack, she used it to collect more wind under her wings which she could use to launch herself forward at a faster rate. She was one of the fastest Biyomon around for a reason. With a single flap of her wings, she sent the air downward, causing her to rocket into the air, through the clouds, and out of sight... provided all went according to plan.

At least the Dinohumon's timely intervention had saved the ChibiKamemon from becoming a permanent part of the Piyomon's data makeup. Yes, the rookie-level would have to be reborn in the Village of Beginnings, but that was a fate way more pleasant than what would've happened if Birdie had completely her way.
Looking at how the rogue digimon was attempting to escape, Dinohumon brought out a bow and tensed its string before releasing an arrow on its direction. If it hit, it probably wouldn't be enough to make her fall out of the sky or anything of the sort, but at least it would be a reminder of the fact that she wasn't welcomed in this place.
Now... he had to take care of the human, didn't he? Given how the Piyomon had ditched her and she seemed to pretty young. There were only a few things she could do. A long sigh ensued.
"Listen." His tone was way less angry and frustrated than before. "The digimon who live in here are like... my children. I don't want to harm anyone but, have you ever experimented something you didn't want to when your parents were around? I'm sure they were very worried about you, weren't they?"
He was doing his best to make himself approachable and hoped the child would follow his speech. "You have done nothing wrong, but the bird over here has injured one of my children. And that's why that being won't be allowed in this place anymore. You can stay for as long as you want to. But I am afraid that if you insist on calling that... murderer friend, I'm going to have you banned too."
With any luck, the girl would choose wisely.

Birdie thought she had made it out alive and well, but DinoHumon launched an arrow in her direction. Although it was was difficult to tell if it landed from ground level, the truth was that it had. She heard the whistling of an approaching attack and spun out of the way to avoid. Unfortunately for Birdie, the arrow still managed clipped her left wing, causing her to lose some altitude, but she continued flying anyway. She wouldn't let herself fall, especially so close to the Training Grounds. Her wing ached, but she continued onward through willpower alone.
And so, Unica was left by herself, still sobbing and hysterical about the way things transpired. It took a long moment, but DinoHumon eventually turned his attention back to the young human girl. He leveled his voice and tried speaking to her again, hoping to make her understand. He explained that the Digimon who lived at the Training Grounds were like his children, and it was his job to act as their parent and protect them from harm. Hearing this, Unica stopped wailing, wiped the tears away with the back of her hand, and sniffled. Although she didn't make eye contact with the big lizard, she continued listening. What he was saying made sense. Her parents were like that too, always worried about her getting lost or hurt.
DinoHumon concluded by saying that Unica had done nothing wrong, but if she continued to call Birdie her friend then she would be banned too. Unica didn't know what "banned" meant, she had a good idea, given context clues. Hearing this caused a wave of emotions to surge through her again making more tears fall. She did consider Birdie her friend. Birdie had bought Unica food, she claimed to be Unica's "guardian angel," and they were partners. Being partners meant being like siblings, and siblings were friends, right? At least, that's what someone had once told her. Unica's bottom lip quivered as she looked up and made eye contact with DinoHumon. She couldn't lie. "But... she is my friend." Her voice wavered.
She didn't really understand what it was to be friends with someone. A friend wouldn't leave her behind to suffer a potentionally fatal consequence for their own misdeeds, a friend wouldn't call her names and make her feel useless, and a friend wouldn't be using her for their own personal gain: all of which were things Birdie had done. With a whimper, Unica put her head in her hands and sniffled again. This was all very confusing. Birdie had done something wrong, but she was still her partner, which meant they needed to stick together through thick-and-thin, so why had Birdie left her alone? What was the right answer? What could Unica do?

There wasn't much to be done about this situation, in all honesty. The child seemed to be too young to understand the implications of what the Piyomon had done. Yet, she seemed to be too genuine, too innocent to be faking her current emotions and words.
She had been left to her luck by her 'digimon', even if the DinoHumon wasn't sure if that word could apply to the coward that had just left. A human, especially one this young, had no chance of surviving in the Digital World on her own. Would he do anything about it?
In the end... he sighed. "You know, this is a place where young digimons come for guidance." At the core, it was something of a school? Or a place where youngsters searched for guidance. In any case. "Would you like to remain here for a couple of weeks? I'm sure you'll understand our way of life better that way."
He wasn't a diviner, but he could see that the Piyomon hadn't really taught anything about the Digital World to this human, and that probably needed some fixing if she was to survive in this place. Ultimately, accepting or not would be her choice, but it didn't look like she had anywhere to go at the moment.

Birdie had been right in her assessment of DinoHumon. He was kind and generous, perhaps to a fault. Unlike what he had previously said about banning Unica if she still called Birdie her friend, he went back on his words and offerred the young girl a place to stay for a few weeks. He wasn't so cruel as to completely leave Unica on her own, especially when she was too hysterical and too naive to fully understand what was happening. He could see into her heart and tell that she meant no ill-will. She was merely confused, lost, and alone, much like the others who called the Training Grounds home.
Ultimately, the decision was up to Unica, and she chose what sounded like the best option. "O-okay," she sniveled, wiping away the tears again and looking up to meet DinoHumon's gaze. There were some really amazing people and Digimon in the digital world, it was just a shame that she had been paired with one of the few who had selfish and deviant motives. Perhaps the big lizard was right. Maybe she could learn a thing or two from spending time in this place, surrounded by moral Digimon who looked out for one another and understood how the world worked.
