Well, today would mark the 30th year since Artemis had left to the digital world, not only that but the whole digital world itself just vanished for Edgar, for others it might of been like normal but for him everything just vanished once he got back to the real world, Artemis, his digivice everything had just gone as if it wasn't there, to begin with. The only thing he had to remember the Digimon by was memories only and even then that wasn't much, his friendships with the people he met along the way slowly died down, becoming nothing but echo's in his mind like Artemis had, some slower others faster but sooner or later they all vanished. The only people he stayed close to was his sister as he slowly went back to the recluse kid in a hoodie.
Did he miss Artemis? Well despite the small time he had to know the little Digimon he had to say he did, after all, it was hard to forget that such a magical world existed, a magical world that was now closed off to Edgar. Sometimes he still thought about Artemis. "Uhh General?" Sometimes he still heard his partner's voice calling out to him. "General, hey!" It sounded closer then it had ever bef-
Edgar's last thought was cut off as Edgar was smacked in the back of the head by his partner Artemis. "I'm sorry General but you were going on for a while. And I'm standing right here." Edgar shot up looking around the area before looking down at Artemis. "Artemis, I thought you left to the digital world?" Edgar asked confused sitting upright, he didn't remember laying down. "I did, you're the one who left for the human world, we're in the digital world," Artemis told him, Edgar looked at him for a second before getting up. "WAIT WHAT?" He yelled looking around the area, sure enough, he was in Terminus, near the park like last time he and Artemis came to the digital world. Edgar looked down at Artemis, then bent down on his knee to get closer.
Edgar looked quite different then he did as a kid, while his hair remained roughly the same he had gotten a lot taller getting to be roughly around 6'11" Still having his skinny build from when he was a kid but far leaner going a bit more on the muscular side of the scale then skinny. Though he was already showing signs of age in his elder years. Artemis was, well he was Artemis he looked exactly the same as he did 30 years ago. Though it was only after leaning in closer Edgar noticed that Artemis had the Xros Loader, the same one from 30 years ago. "There's a reason you're back General, you're the only one that can help me." He said presenting the Loader to Edgar, just like he did all those years ago.
Edgar looked at the device for a few moments before grasping it in his hands, standing up looking at the device Edgar simply nodded. "Alright then, what should we do." It was at that exact moment the plot decided to explode as suddenly from the device six Artemis clones spawned. "You need to lead your army. EVERYONE, SOUND OFF!" Artemis shouted as they all got in a row and posed, all of them looked exactly the same as Artemis except for their cloaks. "Artemis, blue." The blue one shouted. "Artemis, Green." The Green one said. "Artemis Black." The bla- Alright you probably get the idea. "Artemis pink." "Artemis Grey." "Artemis White" They all shouted as a large multi-color explosion happened behind them caused by willpower and fireworks.
Edgar was just left stunned slowly getting his composer shaking his head. "WHY ARE THERE 7 OF YOU NOW!" He shouted as Artemis simply shook his head. "It's simple, while you were gone I had to get the army together for this adventure, Artemis white is the strongest of us at Champion level." As he said this Artemis white flexed his non-muscles. "And we need you General, cause I can't use the Xros Loader. Also, there's one who is leading an army and took over Terminus." Edgar was still confused. "Wait how did he."
"NO TALK NOW, IT'S HIS ARMY OF ARTI-CLONES" Blue shouted pointing at them, it basically was a cardboard cut out of Artemis on a wheel that only seemed to move forward without any momentum. "General, what should we do!" Pink asked as Edgar simply walked over before pushing the thing over, it fell easily. "That's our General, yeah that's how you do it!" Everyartemis shouted wooing and cheering on their General. "Guys it was just a-" But cut off again as Artemis pointed at the slightly larger Artemis on top of a tower. "Muahahaha, see if you can get up here, you can't. Hahahahaha, Ha." He laughed before falling down something, judging by the sound it was stairs and a lot of them.
"How did he take over Terminus." But blue had an answer. "He launched a full-scale assault on Terminus, it lasted 30 years but eventually everyone just felt bad for him and left, they actually made a city that's like right next to here." Edgar simply shook his head. "I'm getting too old for this, wait doesn't the digital world have a different."
"NOT NOW GENERAL look, it's the ArtiDragonmon," Grey shouted, Edgar then tapped his ears, all this shouting was starting to hurt. All the dragon was just looked like the same cardboard, only with several wheels moving them over closer to Edgar. "General, you have to digi-xros us." Green said pointing at the Xros Loader. "Wait what? But I never used this thing before." Edgar looked at the device for a few moments before pointing the device up. "DIGI-XROS, X7" Suddenly all the Artemis' appeared on the screen as they fused together to become, Rainbow Artemis, that will be called Artemis for simplicities sake. "Ahaha, our Super Mega form, now we can easily take out this bastard," Artemis said running over to the large cardboard dragon and kicking it, blasting it through a nearby wall.
"Did it really deserve that? Wait a minute what am I saying, it's cardboard." Though what he didn't hear was a groan coming from the hole that Artemis made in the wall, it was very much a digimon just stupid looking, The clones, however, were not. through the hole through the evil Artemis poked his head out. "How could you get past my guards? Could it be, the legendary General! The one that disappeared over 30 years ago!" Edgar simply shook his head once more sighing. "I solved one case, how on earth would that make me a legendary General?" This was just getting confusing.
"General, it's time for our secret attack, come with our powers as one." Artemis said lifting his stubs to the sky charging energy in the sky, "IS THAT A SPIRIT." Though he was cut off by both the Artemis' "It's the sprite explosive, totally different thing. Do not steal." Though it did charge faster than the other one as it was already the size of the town, then Artemis launched the attack. "Wait no, that'll kill me too." But it was too late as the attack engulfed the whole area in one massive attack.
Eventually, the dust cleaned and nothing seemed to be hurt in the slightest, opening his eyes Edgar looked around to see only Artemis standing. "I'M ALIVE, WHY AM I ALIVE," Edgar asked holding his hand to his chest, he almost had a heart attack that was so scary. "It seems that the evil in this area is gone, for now, I have cleaned this area now and destroyed the evil that remained." Artemis gave a small nod before floating towards the sky going towards the heavens. "Now I must depart, it was nice seeing you again Edgar, farewell my General." As Artemis faded away so did the Xros loader Edgar was left staring up at the sky for his partner, for a few moments he just sat there wondering what just happened and why it just went down the way it did, slowly though he got up looking for Artemis among the clouds for a while before turning around going back towards the entrance.
For all the life he had lived and the years he spent away from the digital world, somehow nothing he did could compete with what just went down, despite how stupid it was he was still left with a smile on his face. Turning around though he saw the once evil Artemis laying facedown in the dirt, for a moment he stared at the digimon before walking over picking the digimon up, as he did something appeared in his opposite hand, a Xros loader like the one he had with Artemis, only completely black in appearance. With a smile Edgar walked back towards the exit with a smile on his face, maybe he wasn't too old for this after all.
