Mitsuko breathed a small sigh of relief, as Isaac bounded towards them. She even blushed slightly as he praised her efforts. "Thanks." Was all she could muster, as well as a soft smile, as she turned her attention back towards stroking Chirinmon's fur. That was until Elliot's question broke her reverie. Her hand faltered, as she cleared her throat. "Um, no..." She said softly, her voice breaking. She knew she couldn't look Elliot in his big ol' innocent eyes. She knew he would see through her lie then. However, she knew she couldn't fool Isaac. He would understand her standing. Wouldn't he?
"Alright guys, one down one to go." Chirinmon said softly, trying to get the attention off of his tamer. "Well, technically two. So, lets saddle up!" He gently laid down upon the ground. Mitsuko quickly sat atop her partner, focusing her attention upon the horn. "All aboard!" Chirinmon called out, as he awaited Elliot. "Come on kid, I promise I won't bite."
Mitsuko rolled her eyes, as she gripped onto her partner's fur. I guess it was time to see what this baby could really do! Once Elliot was ready, Chirinmon would follow Isaac to where they were supposed to go. Towards their next adventure!

Sure enough, Elliot was appeased for the most part. He smiled softly at Mitsuko, a lot of worry shining through but looking quite content besides. "Okay. Good," he said. "I really wouldn't want you to get hurt or anything like that. So please, be careful, okay?" He seemed quite worried for someone who he had basically just met. Then again, how could he not worry when Mitsuko had basically announced her intention to die for him earlier? At least he was appeased now, but clearly the thought of someone so sweet and helpful being hurt for his sake had hit Elliot right in the heartstrings.
Isaac's eyespots narrowed irritably as he listened to Mitsuko's words. He was far less convinced than Elliot by her lie. "Okay," he simply said, the flat tone of his voice indicating both disbelief and a need for more time to process the subject. On one hand, playing with honesty in front of Elliot was a very dangerous game. On the other hand, Isaac totally understood taking up burdens that one really shouldn't out of a sense of obligation and worry. " 'Course, this next trial's gonna be for us to put up with. So you don't need to worry about that kind of thing just yet, unless whatever we're dealing with isn't so courteous as to lock us out of the room like yours was."
And towards the trial was where they needed to go. Isaac started slinking up the stairs, content that Mitsuko had travel handled. As much as he usually handled helping Elliot out, he also knew carrying the weakest human on the back of the party guide was probably a bad idea. "Should be nothing in our way as we get back to the central chamber. Y'know, unless that jackass statue ends up turning back on or something like that," he pointed out as he slithered away.
Unlike Isaac, Elliot seemed a bit more hesitant to move. Kirinmon didn't seem like the biggest ride, after all. "Are you sure?" Elliot asked. "I mean, I could totally walk myself if it was less burden for you. And you just finished having a big fight and all that, so I'm sure you need some rest alone . . ." Even with his bad leg making icy, upwards staircases a massive problem, it seemed Elliot was currently stuck in the worry of being a burden. Poor kid.

Mitsuko and her partner both noted Isaac's remark. Yeah, they didn't have him fooled for a moment. But wasn't a lie to protect someone from a harsher truth worth the effort? Mitsuko pondered this as Chirinmon rolled his eyes at Elliot. "Look kid, I may be wearing a full fur coat, but this ice is cold!" He complained playfully. "Besides, I feel great. See?" Before Mitsuko could even begin to say anything it was too late.
Chirinmon had leapt up, spun around and grabbed Elliot (by the back of the pants no less) with his mouth! Chirinmon ignored the protests of his partner, as he began to prance around the room, lightly swinging Elliot this way and that. Mitsuko had enough at this point, and did the only thing she could think of. She grabbed the horn before her, and gave it a sharp tug. Chirinmon's step faltered, as he slid in the ice, and crashed back end first into a wall. Gently he put Elliot down. "Okay okay. Sheesh. No need to be so rough." Finally the digimon turned his attention back to poor Elliot, kneeling once again.
"So, are you gonna get on this time, or do I have to drag you the entire way?" "Hop on Elliot, if we wait too long Isaac is going to start to worry!"

Elliot let out a small squeak of alarm as he was suddenly yanked away by the pants. If this was Patamon (now Chirinmon's) idea of feeling good, Elliot frankly wasn't seeing it. Now only was it dizzying, but it was also giving Elliot one heck of a wedgie. He blushed a little in a mix of embarrassment and irritation, immediately trying to talk Chirimon down. "H-hey, come on, you can put me down now," he said. "Please?"
Thankfully, Mitsuko soon put the brakes on the Chirinmon train. She yanked down on the Digimon's horn like he was a slot machine, and amazingly enough managed to drag the Chirinmon to a halt despite being on slippery ice. Sure, part of that was probably due to Chirinmon not wanting to displease his human, but Elliot had to admire how strong Mitsuko must have been to not being knocked on her butt by an overly cheerful, overly playful Ultimate. His brief admiration lasted was for long as it took for Chirinmon to grind to a halt, swinging butt-first into an icy wall. Elliot, who was still swinging in the Chirinmon's mouth, looked rather worried as he started to swing back towards the wall. Thankfully Chirinmon's grip held true and he swung back away from the wall before being put down, but for a second Elliot saw his life flash before his eyes.
Needless to say, now he was a lot more agreeable when asked to ride Chirinmon again. He climbed to the front of the Chirinmon, making sure to take up as little space as possible. Then again, Mitsuko wasn't even climbing on Chirinmon again, so maybe he wouldn't have to worry about taking up her space anymore.
Right?

Once Elliot was nestled in place, Chirinmon took the opportunity to truly test his abilities. His playful canter was nowhere compared to the pure speed he now emitted. However, with this new burst of speed, Mitsuko had nowhere to grab except around Elliot's slender frame. "Hold onto his horn, or we're going to be bucked off!" Mitsuko yelled over the sound of the rushing wind. Her face was stinging from the cold air billowing around them. Unconsciously she buried her head into Elliot's neck, clutching him tightly due to his warmth.
With what seemed like a few moments, they were finally cantering up the last bend. "Hey, Isaac, where'd ya go?" Chirinmon called playfully. At the sound of Isaac's name, Mitsuko's head snapped up, and she jerked away from Elliot as if she had been electrocuted. She winced in pain, as the sudden cold now seemed to envelop her once again. Oh well, they had business to attend to. What was a little cold weather going to hurt?

If Elliot was a bit wary before Chirinmon had charged off, now he didn't even have time to process what was going on. With how fast the Digimon was rushing up the stairs, he was amazed that he and Mitsuko were still hanging on. That was probably because he was clinging to Chirinmon's horn for dear life. That was probably also because Mitsuko was clinging onto him for dear life. With how tight her grip was, and how fast Chirinmon was charging, Elliot was basically pressed against her at this point. He expected her hands to be freezing as they wrapped around him, but instead it all felt really warm. That might have been because his stomach was currently doing backflips from how embarrassed it all made him feel. Her face was buried into his shoulder, and his back was buried into her . . . jeez, this would have felt so embarrassing if it wasn't keeping him so warm.
The way Mitsuko suddenly jolted back caught Elliot off guard, though. She wasn't about to fall off, was she? Almost instinctively he took one hand off of Chirinmon's horn to put it on hers. He held her hand just tight enough that, were her grip around his waist to slip, he could at least stop her from launching right off of Chirinmon's back. "Are you okay?" he asked, voice raised a little so that he could hear himself over the air whizzing past his ears. "Chirinmon, could you slow down a bit? I think Mitsuko's slipping."
He completely misunderstood what happened. It was almost as if Elliot didn't realize how protective Isaac could seem.
Then again, Isaac didn't even seem to notice. He just remained at the bottom of the stairs, smirking. "Just gauging your time," he called back, stretching his wings and legs a little bit. "I'll go once you're done, okay?" Somebody seemed awfully assured he'd win this race!

Elliot's hand was soft, and warm. Once it grasped Mitsuko's own, well let's just say you could have started a fire with her face! Heat radiated her cheeks, her own heart thudding so loudly that she was surprised it didn't echo around the room. "I'm... okay. Really!" Mitsuko muttered as Chirinmon slowed down. A heavy weight settled into her stomach as she finally saw Isaac.
"Hey, my time is perfect. I arrive exactly when I mean to." Chirinmon playfully chided Isaac.
Mitsuko, however had other ideas. She didn't want to make this any more awkward than it already was. "Yeah, sure. Can we just... get going. Something tells me... we should... hurry." Yeah, real smooth Mitsuko, she quietly scolded herself.
"I was born ready. I'm just waiting for this slow poke to show us the way." Chirinmon jerked his head in Isaac's direction.
Perhaps now they would get some distance between themselves, and the cave of Harmony.
Or, perhaps they would find themselves somewhere worse. Or even more embarrassing.
Oye Vey.

If only Elliot realized his impact on poor Mitsuko. Whereas she was reduced to a blushing mess by his touch, he simply smiled placidly as he kept her hand warm and secure beneath his. "Okay, good," he said as Mitsuko confirmed that she was in no danger of falling. "Wouldn't want you to get hurt, especially after making it out of that cave without a scratch." Seriously, so much could have gone wrong, and yet she rose up stronger than ever before. She may have seemed like a nervous wreck in the tundra, but once push came to shove she had the will of a warrior. It left Elliot majorly impressed to see.
Isaac, on the other hand, simply smirked confidently as Chirinmon finished making his way up the stairs. "Alright, my turn?" he asked, for once not even paying a shred of attention to someone pressed up against his brother. When Devidramon had something to prove, he stopped at nothing to seize his opportunity. He watched the empty stairway, his wings flexing back and his tail swishing like a cat about to pounce. Isaac may not have been the smartest guy, but if there was one thing he knew for sure?
It's that this was going to be sick.
With his powerful hind limbs he sprang into the air, and then a massive flap of his wings sent him shooting forward like a bullet. The sonic boom from his takeoff sent cracks spiraling around the outermost icy walls of the Chamber of Harmony, and the wind rushing into his face made the trip up the stairs even colder than it would have been otherwise. However, the raging, boiling blood of Devidramon made such cold barely even noticeable. Needless to say, he arrived at the top of the stairs to meet Elliot and Mitsuko in seconds, wedging his tail into the ground like a break as he skidded beneath the statue of Korikakumon. "Yep. Sure am a slowpoke," he proudly remarked, offering a little puff of green flame into the air to warm Elliot and Mitsuko up.
Elliot beamed, very proud of his big brother. "Man, I wish I could do that," he mused, knowing damn well how much less cooperative Gargoylemon could be.
That said, unless Isaac wanted to burn himself out trying to keep breaking the sound barrier, the quartet would probably have a lot of ground to cover backtracking. Elliot hummed a little, trying to think of ways to break the sure-to-result silence. "You should totally tell us more about yourselves," he said. Was he looking directly at Mitsuko as he said that, or was it a trick of the light? "I mean, it'd be cool to get to know you better while we're not in mortal peril for a change."
