K had never in her time picked up any books from luminas, but she had to admit that the laws they had in them were particularly easy to understand and abide by. The sheriff in her town had a copy and always used to preach to her about it but he never deigned to share it's contents with her. This always made her curious about the item in particular; up until she was able to procure her own copy of this law book.
She had expected it to only have a few maybe simple entries dictating proper law or just general good nature'd things to go off of. Not literally an exert for practically everything you could imagine. It was almost a source book for just how to act proper. It was kind of amusing, but also made sense to her. In both understanding her sheriff and.. well those up in the sky. She had never been to luminas proper, at least to her recollection of it.
So that is why she sat here, on a bench near one of the only book stores in whitewater city. The perfect tier digimon flipped page to page in what was practically a multi encyclopedia in front of this bookstore for what amounted to many an hour. So much so that the sun went from hanging low in the sky from this morning, to low in the sky for the evening.
It wasn't a particularly riveting read, but she simply wanted the knowledge to herself. Maybe if she kept this around she could show a few humans back in the human world this item? The Japanese seemed to like their laws and might get a kick out of something from here.
"Really light laws on pickpockets or general thieves.. It's interesting..."
She'd mumble and turn the page, she couldn't help but wonder why...

A beach city. Maaaaaan, that really brought some memories to Amelie's mind; again, she wasn't really sure how she got here (rather, didn't want to think about it too much), but that didn't make this place any less amazing and... nostalgic, in all honesty.
Now that she was here, what she would do, though? Place looked interesting enough, and while there was this odd sense of familiarity about it, the teenager still had to remember that it wasn't her home city, digimons walking by reminding her readily of that fact. Guess that, for now, she would... walk by? Actually, find something to do there. That'd be nice.
Thinking about it... maybe buy some beach clothes? That'd be nice, considering she hasn't gone to one in what felt like ages. Wonder where the shops would be, or if any sold clothes designed for humans. Welp, there was only one way to find out.
Taking a deep breath and promptly exhaling, she began to walk the streets of this strange city, going where her feet would take her. With any luck, the brunette would end where she wanted to be.
Hopefully.

K had to admit that the book was starting to get somewhat duller than she expect, the laws were getting repetitious and some of them seemed a little over the top. Was justice up there absolute? Was there no room for anything? She didn't like how some mistakes were brought into being as breaking the law even if they didn't know. Why were thieves exempt from certain things? Was it because they made better spies or something?
This is why I left. Their laws made no sense...
The thought unbidden made the digimon flinch in pain and a hand came up to her head, rubbing against it as she felt another one of those headaches. She had gotten the first one in the human world, and it was terrible but this one was easily more manageable.
Her attention was brought off of the book because of this and she looked up, noting that the sky was starting to darken. How long had she been sitting on this bench? Reading this book? Why wasn't she hungry? A few questions she could ask herself. She brought her attention back to street level and frowned. There were a few digimon nervously skirting around her, most of them were rookies but there was an oddball champion here and there. Was being in a perfect state really that threatening to them? A frown eased on her lips and she brought her gaze around. Taking in the scenery for what felt like the first time.
Her eyes widened however when she noticed a familiar face. She'd snap the book shut with a big grin and one hand came up in a wave. Hopefully drawing attention to herself before addressing the human properly.
"Amelie! What are you doing here?"

Maybe she had the worst sense of direction ever. Maybe the lay of the land in the cities of the world was different. Heck, maybe those were even signalized in a way she couldn't identify. Those all were valid theories, and something she had been mulling for some time after finding absolutely nothing.
"What a bummer." She muttered to herself, hoping that nobody would hear her, mostly because people who talked to themselves seemed to be a bit looney there. Maybe she could salvage the day in some way? She certainly hoped so!
Before she could come with more brilliant ideas, a big... wolf? Thing? Something? Approached and began talking to her as if they were familiar or something. Had she seen her ever? Turning to give the digimon a more thorough look, she went back to her first conclusion. And that was... "Um... miss? I'm sorry but, I think we have never talked before. Maybe you're mistaking me for somebody else?"
She had this vague feeling of familiarity, but common sense dictated otherwise. How could you know about somebody who you never saw before? That was just plain silly.

K realized all too soon that the human would not recognize her; in fact the only time that the other had seen her was when she was in her renamon state. In each occasion she had made it quite clear that she couldn't digivolve. So what was the case here? How would she really explain that she had figured it out? Or rather... That she had just simply gotten to it?
She'd rub the side of her muzzle and crack a smile; obviously not too bothered by this fact. It wouldn't take too much to likely convince her that this was the same digimon. Especially if she told the other about their bit of time in that wonderful tower before having a bite to eat back at her home.
"No I'm fairly sure you are Amelie. I'm not crazy or anything."
There was a brief pause and she'd scratch her head. The shutmon grinned looking a little sheepish when she admitted the next bit.
"It's me K! I well... Sort of figured out this whole digivolve forward bit. Not back though, still trying to figure that out."
Yet again another pause.
"I know that sounds sorta silly... But it is what happened!"

That feeling of familiarity didn't go away, and for a moment Amelie wondered if she hadn't met this digimon before. There had to be a reason why she knew her name, right? Well, she might've just overheard it in order to lure her into a false sense of security, but that was probably going too deep on the psychological aspect. What should she do? This was so complicated.
At least at first. Soon enough, she revealed herself as K, the... yellow fox-like digimon she had met some time ago; so it was her, huh? Well, she had changed, and quite a bit. "Wow, you almost like a whole new being!" In a sense, that was kinda true, she guessed? But there was no point in thinking about that.
So instead, a bright smile made its way through her face as the realization sank in; she was in front of a friend! That was a bit of a coincidence, but this was pretty much the norm with K, as far as she was concerned. "So, you gotta tell me everything! How did you turn into a giant wolf-thing! And what have you been up to? I don't... really have much to do today, so if you wanna catch up I'm game."

K worried that even with her explaining things out that the human wouldn't believe her. I mean the giant wolf like creature in comparison did not look anything like the renamon they had met in the human world. Even if digivolution had taken hold of her the personality that the fox had was practically seamless into the bigger form. Maybe a few more memories she didn't understand but.. still.
"Digivolution does that to a Digimon doesn't it?"
The shutmon laughed and offered a hand for a shake. She wasn't sure about hugs and the like but a standard greeting among them were handshakes or something close to it right? The bright smile of course made the digimon do the same, she enjoyed seeing people that she recognized and meeting new ones as well. That and she had to admit that she owed Amelie a little for showing her some places in the human world and even allowing her to rest in the individual's home.
"Everything? Well it hasn't been a terribly long time since we last met I think..."
There was a small chuckle and the mon invited the human to take a seat with her.
"Really thus far it's been me trying to make my way back to my inn. I ended up going to the wrong part of the digital world by mistake and rather than rush things I decided to take my time crossing it. See the sights if you will. Again."
She'd let out a huff and grinned at the human.
"It'd be fun I'd say to catch up, after all it's not every day we see one another no?"
K would scratch her head and hum gently.
"well I met another human in the human world that had been attacked by some digimon. Wasn't fairing well, finding myself lacking the ability to turn away I ended up digivolving into a Leomon-X. I then stepped down to give them a hand. Which only ended up as well as you can imagine; dealt with the rogue digimon. I ended up de-digivoling, going to their home. Discussing some things and well... It gave me such a migraine as some memories seemed to I don't know.. activate when certain things were brought up?"
The digimon shrugged and frowned remembering the migraine, it had forced her to digivolve at the end of it.
"Then by the end of the migrane I was.. This. I haven't been able to de-digivolve from it thus far. And it's got a bit of memory that's VERY messy, bunch of incomplete things that I feel are locked behind something further on."
She looked exasperated after a few moments and tapped her head again.
"A few things are different than How I remember. How old my inn is for example..."
She'd trail off looking somewhat sad before stiffening and looking back at the human with a smile on her face.
"What about you? what have you been up to?"

It was a bit on the amazing side, wasn't it? Every time Amelie had encountered K had been more or less sheer coincidence, so actually finding her like this wasn't all that... surprising? She was certain the logic was flawed somewhere, and that unlikeliness definitely didn't stack up in any way, but if that would be the way their friend would unfold... what the heck, she was game for certain.
Nodding somewhat understandingly at her friend's words, she proceeded to listen to everything she had to say, and made sure to pay as much as attention as she could, even if the topics switched somewhat rapidly from one to the next. By the end of it, the brunette stared a little confused, even though she thought she had gotten the gist of it. "Well... I'd say you've had a lot of adventures! Not of the best kind, regrettably, but... I guess every gray cloud as its silver lining. Hope you can find yours eventually."
Regarding her own adventures, well... she wasn't all that sure about them; after all, K herself had been on most of them, right? "I haven't been up to much, really. Somehow ended up walking up to this place, and now I was wondering what to do." A small pause ensued, before she added. "What are you doing in here? Just relaxing or...?"

K would chuckle lightly and nod; she did indeed have quite a few adventures. It was kind of amusing considering how it had started again from just simply agreeing to help out with some spider digimon. It eventually had led to her doing so many different things. It led to her remembering that things weren't always like this, and that she hadn't been at her inn for just ten years on top of it.
"Most of it has been fairly tame you know? Not as much fighting as I expected, and I'll be honest I was very worried when I arrived in the human world as you could probably guess."
There was that mention of silver lining and she'd grin at the Human.
"Friends and such are that Silver lining, I don't mind the trouble as long as I can find some people I don't mind bumping into or the like."
There was a small shrug and she'd tilt her head slightly as the other answered her question. Amelie hadn't really been up to much? That was simply a surprise. She seemed the sort to have something going on for her. But then again K didn't know her too well even if they were simply friends?
"That's a surprise to hear. I figured you the sort to be relatively busy hah... Whitewater has quite a lot to do in it, just.. Most of it is either beach or shopping I think?"
The small pause made K's ears swivel to Amelie and she'd hold up the book that she had been reading.
"Brushing up on Luminas' laws. I.. Plan on visiting there eventually so it's better to know what is what. I don't know why, but I just. Feel like I should."

It was good to know that she had been doing more or less well, though! Despite everything that apparently had happened since the last time, being in one piece and actually looking like a giant wolf-thing was undoubtedly interesting!
Life being dull was something she wouldn't mind, though. Even if she hadn't been up to much, the fact that she felt like she had was something a little strange. Well, not really if she considered her situation with her spirits, but that was probably something better left unsaid.
"Well, I mean. I still have to do human world things like school and that stuff, but other than that... I can say that my life has been relatively static. That's something I like honestly. Surprises can get nasty at times, you know?"
The brunette quirked an eyebrow at the mention of K's current activity. Was she reading a book about.... "Laws? I guess that Luminas is a city or something but... why? Unless you plan to become the police or an attorney, I don't get why would you feel the need to read them. I guess it never hurts to be safe, though."
She had this feeling that if K was studying them, it had to be because of something; after all, this was the first time she heard anybody was studying anything before going to that place. "Why do you plan to visit, though? You make it sound like the place's very boring."

"School? Ah. Yes. Education and the like are highly coveted in the human world isn't it? I know exactly how you feel, that's how my inn was for..."
There was a deep, somewhat sorrowful pause before she'd shake her head and give the human a smile.
"...a very long time. Peace is good, but getting used to it for too long.. Only invites trouble. And that they can, considering that all the surprises we have endured have been... interesting thus far. At least you are still breathing though! So surprises or not, they are experiences you can learn from with vim and vigor!"
She'd laugh softly and pat the book after a few moments.
"It's an incredibly strict locale, I don't want to invite trouble. So... I don't plan to practice law there, but it still can't hurt to better understand the individuals that are there or the rules they follow."
She'd pause and consider something scratching her head slowly and giving the human a small smile.
"The memories I have of the place are a very long time ago. It feels like another life and... Some of the memories I have don't make sense, I need to go there for self satisfaction and answers."
She'd exhale slowly and lean back staring upwards.
"It's a place of answers too, each of the major cities is a hub. And luminas has some things I seek. I know it's odd to hear that from well.. me I guess."

For a second, Amelie seemed to be a bit pensive about K's inquiry. Was it, really? Well, she wasn't entirely sure of it, honestly. "I meaaaaan. It really depends, I think; people can be successful without the so-called 'careers' but having superior studies in a subject makes you... respected? More likely to succeed? I'm not entirely sure about it myself, honestly. I just do what I do because I think it'd be neat to learn more about the things that catch my attention."
Had she touched a nerve? It seemed like it, at least somewhat. Apparently, K's inn had... seen better days; or maybe, it had just seen days. She wasn't entirely sure of the establishment's fate, but... it probably hadn't been a nice one.
"That's actually a saying back in my world. 'What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger'." The brunette snickered at the phrase, not being a believer of it herself. "I think it's a gross oversimplification, but I guess it works at the moment. As long as one can learn from life, no day is truly wasted."
Was that deep, probably. Not like she cared, though. K seemed to be immersed in her own business, and that was probably for the best. Luminas, though. That city intrigued her in more ways than one. "Strict, huh? Well, If you need to study its laws, I guess that place is definitely... interesting. But if laws are strict, I take it's relatively peaceful? If just being a tourist is a drag, I can't fathom what's to try and be a criminal."
Granted, those very laws could be exploited under the wrong administration, but if digimons lived to their spirit, it probably was pretty close to an utopia... or a dictatorship.
Was there any difference between them, though? "What do you exactly seek there? I mean, if you're going as far as to learn the place's customs and laws, I can imagine you have at least a plan of sorts. Do you have a clue or something? Because otherwise, it seems that your small quest will take you... a fair amount of time. That can be inconvenient."
Or probably she didn't mind it at all. There was people like that out there, after all.

"I suppose that makes sense. What is it that has caught your attention then? For schooling?"
The innkeep tilted her head a bit and blinked when the human mentioned a saying they had in the human world. The digimon paused and ran one hand through her fur. It wasn't wrong, whatever doesn't kill you would indeed would have to make you stronger.
"That is true in itself, Though I wonder how many digimon would like that saying... If it's a gross oversimplification, it's oddly fitting to how life can be no? It's one of the more complicated and simple things after all."
The shutmon chuckled softly and ran a finger over the book; raising her eyebrows a little bit when they seemed to inquire further about Luminas and the laws that she was reading over.
"It's just one of those places that can.. definitely be on your side in certain venues while on others it's.... not something you want after you. Tourism is fairly difficult there, seeing as I don't think you can get there without flying somehow. So unless you have an airship, or the ability to.. bound like I do you can't reach it. If one is to be a criminal there, one might as well be a criminal in the more lax locations. Seeing as it's strict beyond belief."
Then of course came the next question. What K sought there, she'd chuckle softly and sigh leaning on one of her hands as she looked to the human.
"Information primarily. I also wish to see what trade would be like from there, if their prices are better than terminus I might as well use them instead seeing as I can manage to get their of my own. I've had a plan for going there for quite some time, but the problem was that I had been unable to get there."
There was another brief pause and the Shutmon got a big grin on her face.
"That and I'm looking for information of other venues as well. See if they have anything about Shutmon's, leomon's and what may be my further forms based off of the information I have at present. Less surprises for me in the future as I am no doubt going to.. well..."
She frowned after a moment and then wiped it away with a small but goofy grin.
"Each time I've digivolved thus far, I've gotten migraines. Usually in short order before them. I've been getting them as of late, and I figure that the best place to have it occur is in a place where there are many to stop me if something goes amiss. Perhaps they can teach me the fine art of control up there as well. More resources at ones fingertips the better!"

That was a... pretty interesting question, actually! Amelie herself wasn't entirely sure of it, honestly, but... after thinking for ten or so seconds finally came up with what she thought was an acceptable answer. "I think that mostly, it's because I've studied all my life? I feel comfortable doing it."
It was an interesting line of thought, for sure. Her interests were all set and ready to go, too. It was a matter of progression at this point, frankly? She just had to walk on a path that kinda seemed to be very clear at the moment. That felt nice, she guessed. "I want to be an architect someday. And would like to leave my mark in my world someday, too. I don't know if something pretty or practical just yet, but that's more or less my goal as of now. Kinda naive, isn't it?"
She couldn't help but laugh just a little bit at her own remark. It sounded really ambitious coming from somebody so young, but wasn't having the goals of one's life set something good? Better to aim high just for good measure? Probably for the best!
Nodding a bit at the next remark; truth to be told, it wasn't like those statements were untrue, were they?
Luminas itself sounded like a pretty interesting place, and probably one she wasn't in a hurry to visit. But... K's own plight was quite interesting, in her opinion. She wanted information, and even if that was something that, in her opinion, she'd find sooner or later, the brunette could understand why the digimon was so nervous about it.
"So... then just do some research until you decide to go there? Sounds like fun. Hope your endeavor is succesful. I don't think I'll be going there any time soon, but I'm sure you can find a train or something to get there. Or somebody willing to take you there. That'd be nice, I guess."

The shutmon dipped her head in a small nod and ran a hand along her muzzle for a moment. Was that a normal thing for humans to do? Studying for a long period of time? Or was it something that only those that had the luck to starting out like that got? She wasn't sure and she wasn't exactly going to ask that sort of thing either.
"That's fair. If you're comfortable with it, suppose there wouldn't be a reason for you not to do so."
The human wanted to be an Architect? She'd love many of the different locations in the digital world then wouldn't she? There were quite a few buildings that defied reasons or were constructed in such an odd fashion. At the query about being naive the digimon chuckled and waggled a finger at Amelie.
"Having a goal isn't Naive, if anything it sets you apart. Why not do both though? Pretty and practical? Though it's possible one day it'll just come to you and you won't be able to stop. Don't rush it, you'll be happier that way I think."
She'd dip her head in a small nod looking somewhat pleased at the wish of having fun. To say the least Amelie had been rather supportive as an individual even with them only have met a sparse few times. But that was certainly nice compared to.. well.. some of the more stressful individuals she had met.
"Pretty much the plan. Thank you. I was just planning on flying up there myself. Seeing as this form is the only one so far that can do anything like that."
She'd chuckle softly and sigh scratching at one of her ears after a few moments.
"Now I wonder..."
