Certainly field work had its limit, but the Wielder of Steel was in one of her most resilient forms to date at the time and she herself was of above average constitution. Aside from some discoloration, the ZekeGreymon claw attack from what felt like ages ago hadn’t actually left that much of a mark, and even that promised to fade away in due time. And her endurance was proven once again as the Mikemon worked. Several injuries were best handled with the Shadow Stitching, but even this only garnered minor winces and tending of an arm.
She had the presence of mind and swiftness to lash a hand out to help hold the now exhausted feline up, but found that ultimately the action was unnecessary. “I don’t think so...” she answered back, sighing. “I didn’t realize how much of a mess I was...” It HAD to be bad if this poor doctor had to work himself to nearly stumbling over his own two feet working on her...
Alicia sighed to herself and wiped her brow with her other hand. It took her about three seconds to realize something was off when she felt the cool smoothness of steel rather than simple skin, and she froze. Slowly, she lifted her mutated hand away from her face and stared at it, flexing it and twisting it with the same deliberate slowness, her lip quivering. “W-What the hell...?”
The newly restored panic in her expression, with her pulse rising again, was indication that she was desperately holding on to her composure purely to not invalidate the work Mikemon had just gone through for her.

"That's to be expected - in times of crisis, your body ignores pain and starts pumping adrenaline. Even grave injuries can be ignored for quite some time... ugh..."
The explanation was simple enough - the feline caught his breath, relieved that the worst of it was over. Well, the worst of it in terms of him working through the injuries that were actively threatening her life: as that arm finally exposed itself, the Mikemon couldn't help but give a tired sigh. A moment later, Alicia's realization of that half-metallic limb settled in, panic curling at the edges of her expression. Quickly yet calmly, the Mikemon moved to the opposite side of her bed, and clutched her normal hand inside his own.
"I know this is hard, but listen to me. Take a deep breath in, hold it for a moment, then let it out, nice and slow." The instruction was more given as a distraction than anything else, but it had a purpose: if someone was distracted from the problem, even for a moment, the Mikemon usually found their ears more receptive to the news: "It's not a surprise. The totem was already halfway lodged into your core - it stands to reason that your outer data could change too. That arm is not going to hurt you. You were just able to move it naturally after all, right?"
He gave a nod, and even a slight smile, as he looked to her eyes. "I do have to work on it and touch it up - mostly, clean away the peat moss from the Dark Area. If you can do me one favor, just save your frustrated shouting match for later, alright?" He even gave a slight joke at the end!

The Spirit Wielder only distantly registered what the feline was saying, far too focused on the fact that her arm was some kind of metallic mutated anomaly now. And she had only noticed because of the difference in sensations, despite the clear appearance change. She clenched her hand into a fist, trying to differentiate between normal and mutated through more than visual or tactile confirmations. She wasn’t sure what distressed her more, the fact that it had happened or the fact that she could’ve very well gone without noticing it at all...
Even the joke had t registered all that much with her, as she continued to inspect the warped limb. From a distance it might’ve even escaped average notice, as it still looked like her normal arm altogether. What made it stand out was the newly acquired sheen where the steel was left without any kind of sullying component like the moss. Despite the material base being solid and inflexible, her limb still stretched and tensed like normal flesh and blood. There were no big obvious separations between the numerous segments in her fingers like she would expect from a normal metal prosthetic, or even the high tech Sci-fi examples of such. And... wait were those live wires running like veins?
“Is... is this the only one like this...?” She asked with obvious traces of fear. She couldn’t feel anything off with her right arm. She couldn’t tell for herself whether, say, a leg was also effected. Like her left leg... one could understand how terrifying that could be, yes?

Good news: Alicia wasn't completely panicking - not to the point where she would stress her newly mended wounds.
Bad news: she was completely distraught, and not listening to a single word that Mikemon was trying to say. She was entirely focused on that arm, that hand, trying to make sense of what it had become. More bizarre was the fact that she hadn't noticed until this very moment. So long as she was calm, the Mikemon would allow her to look it over, and try and make sense of it. He even took a moment to step away, opening his nearby supply closet to pull out a set of supplies meant for his more mechanical patients.
Finally, her second question came through: just how much of her was like this? The Mikemon already knew the answer from scanning her data. To her question, the feline brought back a small case, setting it on the table next to the bed. Flicking it open unfortunately revealed supplies more attuned to mechanical limbs: oil, rubbing alcohol, small clean cloth to clean affected areas, and the like. "... Only two things. If you promise not to immediately bend over and try and look at it, I'll tell you the second, alright?"
The Mikemon prepared a cloth: "Let me get a better look at that. Now... it's your right arm... and your left leg." His tone was calm, not trying to worry her any further than that. "Its a common side-effect of spirit possession."

The redhead set her arm back down and squeezed her eyes shut, grimacing. “Two entire limbs...?” She asked more to herself than anything else. “And yet... nothing feels unnatural. If I hadn’t seen it...” she trailed off in that thought, leaving it unspoken for now. At least that explained why she couldn’t tell what was wrong until just now... She would've been none the wiser until the mechanical kit came out. It’s contents drew her attention, and she couldn’t help herself. She barked a short and unamused laugh.
“I can’t help but feel a bit of... morbid irony, seeing a kit like that and now knowing it’s meant for me...” she muttered off hand. “I’m a mechanic by trade, and now...” she trailed off again, shivering. Now she was getting a once over like all the machinery she worked on in her lifetime. Oh how the world seemed to laugh at her... Was there any scenario more ironically appropriate? The redhead sighed softly. This was gonna be her life now, wasn’t it?
“And there’s no way to undo these changes without tearing the totem out, huh...? Which we both know isn’t an option...”

'Nothing felt unnatural'. As Alicia said that much, the Mikemon's ear twitched in slight surprise - was that just because she hadn't fully settled in from her exasperated state? Or were the limbs so natural to this new 'species' that it was just natural to recognize it as a normal arm and a leg? "Well, if it feels natural, at least your body isn't rejecting the metal parts. That's a good thing, mind you - it'll save you a lot of medicine you would have had to take otherwise."
That said, her arm and leg would need different care than the rest of her body. Once she would finally settle that arm down, the Mikemon would start with a hand towel, quickly-yet-carefully brushing the outside of the half metallic arm. "Oh, you're a mechanic? Um... I hate to put it this way, but that's good news as well. In that you'll understand what I'm doing now, and what you'll need to do to maintain this arm down the road." The cat was careful with his words, as he readied that cloth with the cleaning solution. The first time through, this was going to take quite a while: starting at the shoulder and the forearm, Alicia would feel the cold tinge of the alcohol against her limb, a careful rub pulling away the excess dirt, giving the limb a much cleaner metallic sheen.
It would look 'nicer', at least compared to its distraught state: peat moss, oil, and small amounts of blood stained each small cloth, before they would be discarded. As for the limbs themselves? "Well, removing the totem might undo it. Or, it might render the limbs completely unusable. The split in these cases is about... thirty-seventy, I would say..."

Alicia sighed softly, the feline had a point with regards to lack of rejection. At least she didn’t have to worry about that. She would probably be in even more agony if there was some kind of rejection reaction going on. “As convenient as it is... it’s still terribly chilling to someone who would’ve never otherwise experienced this. I mean... this is straight out of some super science fantasy fever dream...” Or something similar, at least.
That had to wait till another time though. She had to focus on what’s was being done. “My career’s more focused on vehicles, but I could probably adapt well enough...” she mused in soft consideration. So far it seemed fairly standard, minus what was actually being wiped off. The chill of the alcohol made her tense just a bit, but thankfully she didn’t jerk away. It was just strange to know what was going on was being done to a person, rather than an object...
“... So your saying my chances are a crapshoot, basically?” She quipped in return. Thirty/Seventy split like that was terrible odds if she ever heard them. “Guess I’d better learn how to maintain these new limbs quickly...” Better to have actually functional limbs and not need a wheelchair at such a young age over potentially losing them altogether. Not that she particularly liked either option.

"Let me be clear, I'm not asking you to be comfortable with this. If it happened to me, let me tell you, I would not be acting as calm as I am right now." With that rather honest tone, the Mikemon gave a nod to Alicia's concern. "All I can do is treat it as best I can, and give you whatever advice I can that will be of use to you. Once you're bouncing back up on your feet, feel free to let all the frustration out of your system."
The Mikemon managed a chuckle, continuing to work further down that arm. Past the shoulder, it wasn't hard to polish over the metal parts above and below the elbow - without many joints to work around, there was little that could pinch against the cloth. Weird as it was to say, perhaps the arm looked less normal now that its sheen was properly showing in the light of the room. "A little run of sandpaper will dull it out well enough if you find the light glinting too bright off of it. Now, this next part's a little more involved..."
That would be the elbow, and the hand. Throwing away that last bit of cloth, Mikemon gave a sigh, and drew a cue-tip between his claws. Inside those deep joints, the feline would have to carefully clean out each section, throwing out a bit of moss or dirt as he was able to pick out of it. It would have been easier if he could dismantle the arm, somewhat, but...
Yeah, that wasn't an option. "Yes, the odds are a crapshoot. And I wouldn't even say this arm is that much better or worse than a human arm. Maybe more durable, but certainly not stronger or anything in that regard," Mikemon remarked, with a shrug. "I can help you put together a starter kit for this, though... I would have to guess you're right-handed?"

“Okay... at least I’m not crazy on that front...” she quipped with a sigh. It didn’t really help with regards to her barely contained freak out but at least the doctor could sympathize... “Right, right... when I’m on my feet... maybe that old dragon ghost will have some more insight of his own. It’s a fragment of his power after all...”
Musings of the future aside, the mechanic of course did have a sort of grim interest in the going one with her changed limb. Normally, There were few mundane things that could bring a smile to her lips more than a brilliant sheen of metal well taken care of. This was not one of those scenarios. “I’ll consider that...” she mused in regards to the mention of sanding the sheen down.
Of course, he was right when the especially complex joints were brought into the scenario. Cleaning those sections off would take some precise work... but something caught her eye as the feline worked. “Hang on... let me make it a little easier on you.” Her left hand came over at that, as she shifted the bio-mech arm once it was clear. Skilled fingers flicked cleverly disguised clasps on the inner sections, tucked away from cursory observation. That done, she gulped and took hold of the released sections, peeling them away to open up the elbow joint for better and easier cleaning.
The hand was practically littered with more such mechanisms, much smaller and even more delicate, but Alicia’s dedicated eye found each in turn, bringing more of that part out into the open for upkeep. It also had the secondary result of giving both of them a better look at the inner workings of her new arm. Flesh was interwoven with steel and circuitry in most sections, of out right replaced in a scarce few spots. Untainted sections were by far the rarest occurance, driving home the futility in trying to change the arm back to what it once was...
“... Yikes...” Alicia breathed softly to herself. But she’d done what she claimed she would. Mikemon would have a much easier time cleaning her elbow and hand out now.

Well, that was a thing. Discussions about sandpaper aside, Mikemon took a curious step back as Alicia said that she could 'make it easier for him'. His eyes watched on, the right arm taking a few interesting movements, clasps popping open as if the arm was designed to open.
Because it was: the outer parts of the shell were removed, the Mikemon now able to see the inner workings of the arm itself. Critical veins melded with wires. Flesh turning almost seamlessly into metal, then back again. Muscle intertwined with mechanical cable. As Alicia recoiled, the Mikemon looked on with interest: "It's like looking into a simplified Andromon arm, of all things... ah, sorry." Realizing Alicia's expression, the Mikemon set off to work - though, his work continued with a warning. "Please, please do not try and clean the inside of the arm by yourself. A lot of this deals with exposed nerve endings, and inside the circuitry itself, you can cause a lot of damage. I can fix it straight away if I do it, but if you don't notice you did something wrong, well, it might go unnoticed for months..."
His warning a bit dire, he set off to work, much more careful in the application of pressure. "Not that the inside will need cleaning, much - maybe once every other month, if it feels like its slowing down. Mechanical Digimon have internal processes to keep their inner workings functioning - it should be the same for this arm. At least, I'd hope." The cat seemed confident enough, at least!
The inner cleaning would take a while - upwards of an hour, unfortunately - but just as the arm would close, Mikemon would hear a phone ringing from a distance. "Internal line, that's Stingmon... sorry, I have to take that. If you get the idea, you can start on the outer parts of the leg - just don't pinch yourself on the joints."

“Great, and I was already starting to have an identity crisis regarding what I counted more as, human or Digimon...” Alicia quipped sourly at Mikemon’s comparison. “Still, believe me, I get that handling delicate machinery is a... touchy thing. I can only imagine how much more touchy things could get adding in nerve endings and such...” Which was why she was studying how he went about the cleaning closely. Eventually she’d have to do this herself. Or schedule routine appointments... but that thought left an awkward taste in her mouth.
Or maybe not so routine, if what the doctor was saying is true. “Should, he says... I can only hope my luck holds on that front...” She couldn’t blame him for the uncertainty, though. This exact combination of factors and events was probably unique for him. Once he was done, she started closing the sections up. But her ears perked at the sound of the phone. “Stingmon...? Oh, right...” she bit her lip and nodded to him. He had to take it, for an update on the other critical case that had been rushed in. “Mitsuko...”
That left her to her own devices, carefully shifting to get a look at her left leg. “... mmmm...” Bringing her hands together, she did some quick tests to see if her new right arm reacted to her thoughts the same as her normal left arm did. There didn’t seem to be much difference in how the limbs functioned, so she nodded to herself and picked up some of the supplies to start tending to her leg while the Mikemon was busy with other things. Shouldn’t be too hard to get the hang of... she’d cleaned out worse gunk from engine blocks and other pieces of pure machinery...

At the very least, it seemed that Mikemon could exercise basic phone etiquette and not get into a shouting match if a certain blue-robed wizard wasn't the one on the other side of the line. Unlike with the last call, there would be nothing but a faint rumbling of faded words from the other room... though it was difficult to say if this would be more or less settling with Mikemon's current patient.
Thankfully, treating the outside of the leg wasn't much different than treating the outside of the arm, and a skilled mechanic probably knew more about how to apply the solution than a doctor (even if it was across a field or two). It wasn't a short phone call: a good ten minutes later, the Mikemon walked back in with a tired yawn, idly rubbing the back of his wrist against his right eye.
"Well... patient-to-patient, I can't give you exact detail - doctor confidentiality and all that - but she'll live, and she'll recover." The cat gave a nod to the likely-interested Alicia. "On any other day, she would have been under my immediate care... it's been a long while since I've had two critical patients enter my office at the same time."
Critical. Meaning the way Alicia's code was before he fixed the fractal code (something he focused on even before the grave wounds on her chest) would have likely led to her own destruction within the day. He wouldn't elaborate on that unless asked, instead circling around to see how she started on that leg. "You feel any difference there, at all? Well, wait, I suppose that would be a better question to ask once the dirt's fully cleared out..."

Honestly, the relative quiet only heightened Alicia’s concerns. Especially given that she’d figured out who would be the topic of discussion for the call. Not being able to hear anything let her mind wander as she handled the external cleaning as smoothly as ingrained routine. Her already present skill combined with the unique insight of being able to feel from both sides what was being cleaned let her adjust her methods with incredible smoothness.
She had cleaned off the majority of it in the time it took for him to return, letting the red headed mechanic focus on what he was saying. “Right, right... doctor confidentiality of course.” She didn’t expect to hear details regarding the silverette, but it was comforting to know she would make a recovery. At least, it had been until the cat mentioned any other circumstance would’ve seen him personally overseeing Mitsuko’s treatment. And then there was the keyword he used in reference to both of their cases: Critical. A word that was reserved for the most dire and life threatening scenarios where it was questionable whether the patient would live through it at all...
Still, she’d left it alone for now, focus now on his questions. “Well... the arm still feels completely normal after the cleaning. Well, to be more accurate it feels better than it did earlier. It’s the same for my leg. Despite being... what it is, everything feels natural and in its proper place. And I strongly suspect it’ll remain in a positive light once the internal cleaning is finished.” She seemed fairly confident about that, for someone who hadn’t had these new limbs a full day yet... but she bit her lip, unable to put it aside any longer.
“Just... just how bad off was I? I find it hard to believe my situation was bad enough to warrant priority... But, hell, this is probably why I’m not a doctor...”

Yup, doctor confidentiality. "Unfortunately. Though considering that you all came in as one group, she'll be able to tell you all about it." More than likely, anyway, the five of them that were dragged in - including Patamon and Isaac - knew each-other in some capacity. All Mikemon was doing at that point was following protocol, something that Alicia understood, instead moving to respond regarding her limbs.
Her arm felt 'better' than it did before? For a moment or two, Mikemon seemed curious, until he gave a shrug: "Well, that's good news. And it seems that the leg needs similar care, though you seem to have the outside quite-well handled." Eying her handiwork, the cat cave a small nod: "Well, let's clean out the inside. Let me just see the kit there..."
The leg would proceed most likely the same as the arm, perhaps with a few more latches to consider in the lower leg. As he would proceed, though, that last question hit his ear: how bad was it? Mikemon paused, closing his eyes, mulling the thought over in his head. "Let's see... to put it simply, your fractal code was 'pooling data'. The distended flow caused by the forcibly ingrained totem was causing a build-up of both critical and excess data. Remember, you were in quite intense pain when you came here - and now you don't feel a single bit of it, right?" He paused for an answer, before pressing on:
"Eventually, the stress would have been too much for the totem. Your emotions would have hit a peak, and regardless of the situation, you would have been forcibly turned into that mechanical form. At that point, it would have been impossible to save you. The monster would have either fallen in combat, or the data flow would reach a second critical point, and you would have been forcibly deleted at the peak."
The cat was honest, and heck, Alicia asked. "The wire-grid I installed will both keep the totem stable and stop it from happening. I wouldn't use that form again, however, until you have your D-Tector to act as a fail-safe."

Alicia nodded to herself and sighed. She’d just have to wait for Mitsuko to wake up, assuming the silverette was still out like a light... Given the severity of her injuries, it was a very real possibility. Quietly, she followed through on her end of the internal cleaning, opening clasps where needed to give the cat doctor better access for the long road ahead.
Of course, then he started to recount the severity of her complications, and the Spirit Wielder understandably paled quite a bit. It was a fiendish picture the cat was painting... “Right... I could barely move, let alone speak earlier...” she muttered in response to his question. It had been the cause of the ill advised attempt to remove the totem of Cybercursedramon after all. But the more detail he went into, the more frightened the redhead got.
“... That is distressingly similar to what actually happened, as far as my hazy memory can recall. Emotions hitting a fevered pitch, a forced evolution followed by a wild rampage...” Alicia shook her head and hit her lip to force herself to stop there. Exact details were not forthcoming, but broad strokes painted enough of a picture of the reality she’d faced...
“... and I’m probably going to have to do something stupid about this mess if I’m ever going to be ‘myself’ again...” Now whatever did she mean by that? Given the timing of the line, just shortly after Mikemon had mentioned stabilizing the totem with that wire grid, it painted a bad picture. “Now, before you harp on me, hear me out... there is one thing I remember very clearly about this whole ordeal. Something broke under the stress and agony of what that... ‘Chaosdramon’ did, if I’m remembering what you said right. And when it happened, a piece was embodied into the beast totem while it was being fused to me...”
That would explain why some strands were feeding into the totem, rather than all of them being out going... “So... you were a bit misinformed earlier, when you were telling me to deny the totem’s presence regarding it being my own self.” Great, one more unique factor to this already garbled mess. “At least I can’t flip out and go on a rampage that easily, right now...?” Alicia didn’t really sound too confident about that...
