"I do not see it as hatred, honestly. You could just call it... 'an eye for an eye' sort of deal? It is what humans commonly refer to as justice, I think, even though I am not so sure on that concept myself. Guess that is basically getting back at somebody who wronged you? Emotions are not involved at all."
"An eye for an eye simply makes the world blind. Who would I go after anyway? They're a bunch of scientists and this situation is a lot more bloody complex than it first seems. It always is. Would it be "justice" for me to go in there, and kill a bunch of people who were only trying to make the world a better place? Tear families apart with the deaths of their wives and husbands, leave children to grow up without a mother or father? I'm not going to be responsible for that."
"Simply put, you can just call it self-defense. If somebody harms you, you try to make them stop. If they will not listen, you have to recur to... extraordinary measures, if you want to call them that? It is a matter of self-preservation, in the end. Take most rational beings just want to live their lives in peace."
"Ah yes. "Self defence". If you work yourself enough you can use that to justify almost anything. Perhaps you would use that but, I couldn't. I couldn't bring myself to commit the mass murder of civilians. What am I even "defending" myself from any more to go out an attack them at this point? Nothing."
The digimon sighed, shaking her head before taking another sip and a bite of the steak she had ordered. It was pretty damn good, but, that was as it should be. It cost enough to come here in the first place.
"I did find the man who did this y'know. The CEO of the company. Back then, I felt like you seem to do now. I wanted to tear his head off, then just shoot myself and get it over with but, before I did that I asked him just one question. "Why?" Didn't expect it, but he gave a pretty good answer. They thought they were just messing with a simulation. Didn't even think I was alive, real, until it was far too late. They were trying to figure out a way to link their own bodies with machines in order to save lives, to end suffering. Their goals were nothing but noble. The road to hell might be paved with good intentions but I sure as anything am not going to be the ones to damn them for it."
