Taking the first steps into the Digital World [Finished]

Ayumi looked back and forth between John and Amelie, a bit taken by surprise at how both of them seemed convinced she could find her own partner. She soon tried to look confident again.
"C-c-certainly! Someone who was chosen for greatness such as me should definitely expect to be inducted into such an exclusive circle! Ooooh I hope it will happen fast!"
Now Ayumi was so excited, she could hardly wait to arrive.
Luckily for her, the Trailmon soon reached the outskirts of Terminus. Both Ayumi and Yukiko marvelled at the Digital landscape passing them by as the huge city drew ever closer.
"Dear passengers, in about 5 minutes we will arrive at Terminus City. Thank you for using Trailmon Services!", came the voice from the intercom. Both girls had no idea what to expect from this big city, hopefully their two guides could tell them everything!

She was the type to change beliefs easily, wasn't she? Or maybe it had been false modesty; in any case, the fact that Ayumi seemed excited about this small endeavor was a good sign. Who knows, maybe it'd end in a disappointment and the hopes both John and Amy herself had instilled in her would be in vain, but speaking honestly... that wasn't very likely.
The brunette didn't know why, but that was the case more often than not. Pretty strange, considering Digimon were supposed to be a secret and incidentally, all, or rather most of, her acquaintances were related to them in some way or another. Oh well.
Seemingly, the train was about to stop, soon. Amelie didn't know Terminus very well; who could, really? But at least she could say she knew the megalopolis enough to not get hopelessly lost in there. Maybe John was more versed at traversing the city? That's something they'd find soon enough.
"Terminus can be quite... hectic." That was probably was the understatement of the year. "So, make sure to not get too far away from each other if you don't want to get lost. In case anyone does, I guess the best would be too see each other at the station?"
Truth was that she didn't mind going back alone in case she lost sight of the group, but Ayumi and Yukiki probably wouldn't have an easy time doing so.

Each passing moment brought a mounting excitement to John and Casimeir while the Trailmon was nearing their destination. The growing smiles on their faces made it apparent. "Seeing Terminus always brings a smile to my face," John admitted. "It reminds me so much of New York and how my family and I used to visit almost every winter. I remember when I got to see Broadway for the first time."
Casimeir could just imagine what New York was like from John's stories. "Think you could take me some time, John?"
John grinned at his partner. "Of course, buddy. Pretty soon we should have enough saved up for a trip."
The man had to nod in agreement with Amelie. "If we do get separated, it would be a good idea to exchange contact information. Do you guys have one of these?" He'd pull a D-terminal from his pants pocket and wait to see if they would do the same.

As the train pulled into the station and stopped at its destination, the two neophytes and Mizu approached the opening doors carefully. Yukiko was quite intimidated by the sheer magnitude of this place. She could hardly believe something this big existed near Tokyo without anyone noticing! This is beyond unusual! Mizu stayed by her Tamer's side, bemused by her carefulness and her wonder. While she had never been in Terminus, she did see the Digital World multiple times herself! As for Ayumi...
"Haha! Last one out is a pungent ovoid!"
The pale girl jumped out of the train carriage, full of joy and eager, and began to carefully look at everything in the arrival hall.
She poked everything, and looked like a child in a toy store.
Yukiko was left behind, blinking. Mizu giggled.
"Well, you heard the girl, last one's out is a pugnent ovid or whatever!"
The frog then hopped out and joined Ayumi's side. Yukiko left behind, utterly baffled at the behaviour her friends were showing here. This did mean she was still around when Amelie and John talked to her.
"E-e-eh? Oh, those thing? W-w-well, I got one w-w-when I got zapped by a bug and my phone changed into it."
She pulled out her D3 and showed it.
"I feel like...knowing where everyone is is a good idea..." Yukiko said, looking back and Ayumi and Mizu who were utterly entranced by the digital timetable.

John had a good idea, Amelie realized. Kinda dumb of her to forget about communication inside the Digital World. Absentmindedly, she brought out her D-Terminal from a pocket of her coat and handed it to John.
"Feel free to write your contact information there. The same thing goes for Yukiko. If you wanna write, I won't say no."
She expected the same gesture in exchange, but wasn't going to make a fuss if it didn't happen. After all, being more or less comfortable with exchanging information might've been a big deal to the otherwise shy teenager.
Maybe they wouldn't have enough time? Given the ride has already stopped. It was only fair for everyone to descend, even if both Ayumi and Mizu-chan seemed to be all too eager to see everything to see.
At least Yukiko was the sensible one. That much she appreciated. "That should be your digivice. A D-Terminal's like that, but not quite. It should be a grayish computer-thing that you can use to send text messages while inside the Digital World. Given most forms of 'normal' wireless communication don't work in this world, they're pretty handy to have."
If she didn't have one, this could probably be more complex than what she expected it to be. Or... they could just stick with her initial plan. Both could work.

It was perfectly acceptable for Ayumi to be as excited as she was as a new arrival to the Digital World. And it was to be expected for John and his partner. They could only smile at how whimsical Ayumi seemed to be while they remembered how it was for them during their first arrival to the Digital World.
But Ayumi's excitable demeanor could spell trouble for the group. Worried, John decided to speak up. "Ayumi, I know it's wonderful here but please try to stay with the group!" The last thing he wanted was for anyone to become lost. "Use the Buddy System!"

Yukiko blushed when Amelie told her the device she had was not the right one. There was no real reason to be embarrassed. Yukiko got embarrassed anyway.
"A-a-a-aaah, I s-s-s-see, I d-d-d-don't think I h-h-h-have such a th-th-th-thing....wh-wh-where can I g-g-get one?"
She felt so stupid, coming here and not knowing these things. Not that she had any means to know these things seeing how she didn't even know Digimon existed until the day before yesterday.
Ayumi, who had grabbed an information pamphlet and had laid down on the station floor with Mizu on her belly reading it, sat up when she heard John call her name.
"Eh? The what now? is this one of those fancy Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games?"

Where to get a D-Terminal? Well... Amelie had to admit that she was just a little bit clueless about it.
"You mean it didn't come with your other things?" That was a first timer for her; not like she knew all that much about how those things were gotten since she had never questioned their nature, but it was still somewhat puzzling. "I frankly have no idea, even though we probably can get them somewhere in this place. Do you know anything about it, John?"
Of course, John seemed to have his hands full with an overexcitable teenager who seemed to pretty eager in losing herself among the crowd. Definitely not the best you could do in Terminus, but she could also understand the excitement of getting to explore the city. In a sense, the whole place was awesome.
She would try to get near Ayumi, in case she ran off at the sight of a strange digimon or something, then spoke. "He probably means that you shouldn't get too far away. I think."
Truth was that she had no idea on what the buddy system was either.

"You know," said John, "the Buddy System. Wingman Concept?" He paused. "It's to make sure that people don't get easily split up and stick together." He was at the moment making sure that he was in practice keeping up with the others. "And the D-Terminal should have come with your Digivice. But sometimes they arrive a little later than they do normally--"
John got cut off by the beeping of a notification on his D-Terminal. When he held it up to inspect it, he sighed. "I'm sorry, it's my boss. She wants me to head to the Binary Archipelago. But here's my contact info for if you guys ever want to meet up again." John made sure to offer his information to the others, after which he would head back toward the station. "It was really nice meeting you all!"

"Eh? oh, sure, I won't go far!"
Ayumi spoke with a smile. But then, John's D3 seemed to ring, and summoned him away.
Ayumi and Yukiko watched as John had to go. They waved after him as he walked off. An archipelago? There was an ocean in this world? That would be *fascinating*!
"W-w-whoa, an archipelago..."
Mizu grinned, walked over, and put her stubby legs around the legs of Amelie and Yukiko.
"Hehehehe, guess it's a Ladies' day out, then! Come on, let's show the city how gorgeous we are!"

Was John leaving? Awww, that was such a pity; in a sense, they were losing what was probably their most experienced person, even though that instead... they had the benefit of enjoying an outing just for girls!
Amelie bid farewell to the older tamer before turning towards Ayumi, Yukiko and Mizu-chan. "We can eventually get to the Archipelago if you're up for another small trip! But it's probably too soon to make plans of visiting another place when we haven't even begun with Terminus, right? Better if we just take this slowly."
Was the excitement that came from Ayumi and Mizu contagious? Maybe! "Before you end up breaking hearts, Mizu." She said, a small mischievous smirk crossing her face for a second. "Is there any place you'd like to see first? Or do we just go through the city until we find something that catches your eyes? Given that I'm more or less your tour guide, I guess it's your choice."
This small outing was getting more interesting with each passing second, for sure!

Yukiko wanted to speak, but Ayumi butted in.
"Oh! Oh! Oh! Please, I wanna roam the main shopping streets, I wanna see what they sell in this digital world! And I wanna see more digimon, too!"
Yukiko gulped. S-s-so much energy, even though they were still at the very start of their trip.
"I g-g-guess seeing the main attractions of a digital city has its merits..."
"Then let us make haste, the wonders do not wait for us!"
Ayumi was about to dash off again, but Yukiko instinctively grabbed her collar, keeping her in place with ease.

Those two were so different, yet Amelie could already tell they were a pair of best friends. Their antics were so unique...
"Shopping streets, huh? Well, that's pretty easy! We shouldn't be very far from the main shopping area." Maybe... ten blocks or so? The main shops would be visible a fair distance away, as long as the crowd wasn't impossibly thick. "You shouldn't worry about watching more digimon, though! This is a Digimon city, after all. A fair warning, though; if you see any digimon that closely resembles a demon or anything of the like... don't shout or try to antagonize them in any way, okay? I don't wanna end up paying your fines or have to drag you out of jail if you end up being charged with disorderly behavior."
Once that was said, the brunette just began to march towards the streets, her destination obvious! Guess they were up to some window shopping.

Indeed, the group of four girls wandered the streets. Ayumi was a bit taken aback by the demon comment of Amelie's.
"What do you mean, there are demons here? How preposterous! Demons should not be wandering the streets!"
"A-a-a-ayumi! Th-they're not really demons, they j-just look like them, r-r-right, Amelie?"
Yukiko looked hopeful that Amelie would back her up here.
Mizu soon stopped at a shop window. It was a shop selling Holosuits, and had displayed a number of mannequins wearing pretty human girl disguises.
"Oooooooh! What are these? I want one! I wanna show my gorgeousness to the world!"

For a moment, the brunette was forced to ponder a bit about Ayumi's and Yukiko's questions.
"I'm honestly not sure. What is a demon?" She had never been the overly religious type, and Japanese folklore was still something that was obscure to her at the very best. Maybe they meant different things than her? The only way to find out was asking. "They should be harmless if that's your worry, though. Most of the beings that live in cities are quite friendly. Unless they want to con you or something. I'd be more careful about that than about demons."
Holosuits, however, were a wayyy more interesting topic! "Those are... huh, I think they're called Holosuits or something. Basically, something that can make digimon alter their appearance, and usually look more human-ish, in a sense? You can probably get one if you wanna look like Ayumi or Yukiko. Or different!"
She wasn't sure why, but she felt like Mizu would love them.
