No Leg to Stand On [Elliot & Isaac]

The day had started off so well. The sun bright over head. A few fluffy white clouds far on the horizon. A light, intermittent breeze that was refreshing rather than chilling. She had found a two piece in her bags that had more fabric than a bikini and a cute half-skirt that trailed down the side of her leg almost to her knee. It was pure serendipity the way it covered the worst of her bruising.
Glorious previous week glorious weather, and she had a new, glorious(ly ridiculous) hat hanging off the back of her chair.
She should have known it couldn't last. She should have realized that at some point her peaceful sunbathing wouldn't be allowed to continue. Something was going to interrupt it. Or someones in this case.
Two insectoid someones who should be on her side. Not fleeing down the beach ahead of her with her hat hanging low and Roger dangling below it. Hiroyo had originally been shocked that Morgan could even lift that much! Of course, any and all feelings of good will had faded after the first ten meters of her sad attempt at running on her injured leg.
"I'm disappointed in you Morgan! This is incredibly out of character for you!" Her yelling got her some weird looks as she dodged around yet another group of beach goers. The trouble making duo were steadily pulling away from her, a dangerous thing when there was a set of low dunes riiiiight there.
"Ahahaha it's fine! We're just going to bury it!" Roger called as Morgan managed to pull him and the hat over some beach goer. A large pink petal floated down to the sand. "Maybe we'll toss it in the ocean!"
"DON'T YOU DARE!" Hiroyo roared and put on speed. Sadly the flying bug show's cackling was causing people to stop walking and stare.
Hiroyo had originally plotted her course based on where people would be.That all went out the window when the realization that she had a very real chance of losing her hat forever. Add the chaos caused by people stopping abruptly and it was only a surprise to her when she collided with someone. Whether they had stopped walking or not she collided full force with them and ate sand.
Lots of sand, everywhere.

If Elliot was going to get back into the heroism business, he was going to have to find the proper strength first. His current resolve, as much as he hated to admit it, was based on a lot of bottled-up worry. Fear. Desperation. Certainly a bit of anger, both at his brother and himself. He knew it was the kind of resolve that would stay rock-solid up until too much pressure was put on it, then explode into a million little pieces. Maybe it'd do for now, but it wasn't the kind of strength that Elliot ever wanted to rely on.
Peace was far preferable, in the boy's eyes. That was why right now he sat on the beaches of Whitewater in a meditative stance. His eyes were closed, his breathing was deep, and he had his bad leg folded under his good leg to the best of his ability. All of the thoughts holding him back were being pushed far into the back of his mind, their voices fading to echoes, then to silence. The patterns of the sun pressing against his eyelids were starting to fade, their shifting colors finally settling down into the proper level of black. The warm sand beneath his legs and the cool breeze dancing along his skin both had to go, too. They were the hardest feelings to shake, but if he just focused on the way they evened out maybe he could forget them . . .
Unfortunately, Elliot's attempt at solving this problem quickly came to an end. He suddenly felt a heavy pressure in the side, and then his back flat against the sand. The sound of the waves came back. The smell of the sea came back. The pressure of his thoughts came back. And then his eyes snapped open, Elliot's attempt at grounding himself all gone.
At least it wasn't too hard to see the source. The second Elliot opened his eyes, he saw he was face to face with a beautiful looking woman. She must've fallen, because she was basically completely pressed down on top of him. Immediately Elliot's face turned a neon red as he realized this, and despite being the one fallen upon rather than doing the falling he found himself letting out a weak "S-sorry!"

There was sand in Hiroyo's hair. How had it gotten there when she was top person on the body pile caused by her own inattention? Who knows! The fact was that there was sand in Hiroyo's hair (itchy), the breath had been knocked out of her (inconvenient, uncomfortable) and a stranger underneath her (awkward) and the best way to describe her swimsuit was 'not as skimpy as it could be'. Normally she was fine with that descriptor of her clothing, but not when she was all but straddling some stranger while she wheezed from lack of air.
Awkward was the easiest thing to tackle so she shoved herself upright so her head lifted from his chest and she could see to scrambled off him and to the side. She was careful with her feet, because stepping on him could only make things worse. Her injured leg trembled as she stood and every bruise on her body smarted from the collision but she was pretty sure she hadn't gotten new ones!
"I'm so, so sorry," It was hard to get the words out around her wheezing but Hiroyo pushed on anyways as she scrambled to her feet. She brushed off a little of the sand on her hands then held one out to him, her expression apologetic as she look at his face. "I really, really didn't meant to hit you, I wasn't watching where you were going I'm sorry it was dumb of me, my fault completely. I was trying to get my hat back and I just wasn't paying as much attention as I should and..."
She was babbling. Somehow despite the lack of air she was still manage to babble. Maybe it was the bright blue eyes looking up at her, ones she imagined were full of hurt and shock. She felt so guilty! Guilt that was only magnified when she turned her head to the side to make sure she hadn't trampled any of his other belongings and caught sight of the cane in the sand next to him.
The twins had been deliberately using beach goers as a barrier, to think they had done it intentionally to someone who was crippled....well. Her temper had been up before but now it was roaring underneath her guilt and worry. What if she had hurt him more? "Again, I'm so sorry, are you hurt anywhere? Do you need me to get someone? I don't have a cell signal but I can run back to town if you need me to!" She cast a glance at the dune where the twins had been heading for just a moment before looking back down at him. She would lose sight of the twins but if he needed help..

Thankfully, once Hiroyo lifted her head off of Elliot's chest, his heart would start beating again. It had frozen up enough that, mercifully, Hiroyo didn't have to feel it pounding like a jackhammer against her head. Now, thankfully, she was "just" straddling him in a very flattering swimsuit. Oh, wait. That didn't help much at all! The blush on Elliot's face started to deepen a little from the feeling, with Hiroyo rolling off finally helping spare the poor boy from embarrassment.
He was honestly surprised it was Hiroyo that started babbling first. The poor woman was practically wheezing in between every word, probably from getting sand to the face after her fall. She was going off on a long ramble about looking for something, and not paying attention, and whether Elliot needed medical attention, and how she felt bad about hurting him. It was, frankly, a lot of concern. Elliot had to admit, it sucked a little seeing her eyes full of so much worry. They were really nice.
Thankfully, once she had rolled off of him, Elliot was able to readjust some in a sitting position. Already one hand was back on his cane, helping prop himself back up to a standing position. The other he used to gently touch Hiroya's arm, as if trying to calm her down some. It was honestly the least intimate reassuring thing the poor boy could think of. What was he supposed to do? Put a hand on her shoulder? Hug her? "Hey, don't worry about it," he said, keeping his tone low but gentle to try and ease her out of her current panic. "I'm fine, see?" Naturally, being on the beach, it wasn't like Elliot was wearing a shirt or anything, so Hiroyo would get to see that he was actually pretty toned from his Digital World adventuring without any bruises or bumps on him.
It didn't seem like Hiroyo could say the same, though, considering that her rather revealing outfit was showing a lot of bruises and her stance was the telltale sign of a bad leg. "Are you?" he asked, a bit of concern coming into his voice as he looked her up and down.

Luckily for everyone involved, neither party was seriously injured! Hiroyo sighed in relief when he answered her question. Her shoulders relaxed. Some part of her had expected her accident to be reacted to violently, it was nice that wasn't the case. Man, despite the cane he looked pretty fit. Hiroyo idly wondered if he went to the gym or was the outdoorsy type.
"I'm, not making sense am I? Just, give me a moment." She said around wheezes, giving him a wry smile before purposely taking deeper and slower breaths. She closed her eyes as she breathed, and used the hand on her arm to ground herself. She opened her eyes again once her breathing was little more settled and her eyes were clear again. "Sorry, I'm full of energy-" and anger! "-right now! I normally don't start babbling like that. I'm glad your alright!" It didn't take her long to bounce over her moment of concern, after all he seemed like a dependable adult and if he said he was okay then she would take that at face value.
His question made her grin grow a little bigger. He was concerned about her! How sweet! He was such a nice person, too bad they might not run into each other again after this. "Hah, I'm really fine! These are all healing." She answered. She shifted her stance so it wasn't quite as obvious that her leg was injured and ignored the twinge of pain from her much abused muscles. Wouldn't do to look helpless from just running across the beach! Speaking of... "Ah, I'd stay to chat but I have a couple of thieves to chase! Sorry to be rude!"
Hiroyo brushed a little more sand off before turning herself resolutely towards the dune. She took a couple of steps and then paused to look back over her shoulder at him. "Hey uh, if you're going to be in this area for a while I'll hopefully be back this way today. I'll treat you to your choice of beach-themed treat as an apology!" She was quite pleased with herself because who turned down free food? It was the perfect way to get him to meet up with her again!

Elliot laughed softly as Hiroyo apologized for all of her energy. "Don't worry about it," he said, voice warm. "It's a nice change of pace. Things have been really quiet on my end lately, so a little bit of excitement can be really refreshing." Why did people ever think they would need to apologize for being excited? If anything, excitement just got Elliot more excited! It was a nice, infectious way of brightening someone's day. Maybe Elliot could do the same for Hiroyo, too.
Elliot was oblivious, but compared to him Hiroyo was a hilarious trainwreck. The way she shifted her injured leg to show that she was okay was all too familiar to Elliot, the boy having done the same countless times to try and help assuage other peoples' concerns. That said, Hiroyo actually looked pretty tough. The bruises on her body didn't seem like they were hurting her too much. If anything, they accentuated that toughness. He smiled gently, trusting in Hiroyo that she wasn't lying about this. "That's the spirit! I'm glad you're okay, too," he said.
Wait, thieves? Treats? It seemed like Hiroyo's excitement meant that she was in quite a hurry, because suddenly the girl was saying all sorts of things and preparing to run off. "How about I help out, instead?" Elliot offered once Hiroyo mentioned running off. "Hat thieves are the worst. And two pairs of eyes are better than one, right?" Hiroyo seemed really nice, and also really flustered. Elliot couldn't just leave her to run after these thieves on her own!
He smiled slightly after making his offer. "Besides, we can talk about snacks after, right?" he added. Maybe Elliot was too innocent to realize how it'd come off, but the confidence in his smile looked quite teasing right now!

That's a nice laugh he has. Hiroyo was thankful that her outburst was glossed over so easily and quickly. Even praised somewhat! It really helped cut down on the embarrassment factor.
She was very glad he didn't push her on the injury front, it was a rather sore topic.
"Ah, really?" She was pretty skeptical he could help, and some of that bled into her voice. She hummed when he mentioned two pairs of eyes because that was true, at the same time would he really be all that helpful with limited mobility? Well, it's not like I'm much better in that regard. She chided herself, shaking her head as she smiled at him.
"That would be helpful! I know I'll find them eventually," She lifted the wrist she had wrapped the digivice's strap around and gave it a little jiggle. Hiroyo hoped he would draw the obvious conclusion there without asking too many questions. "but they will probably have wrecked my hat first. I wouldn't mind the shenanigans as much if it was a normal hat, but I earned this one through blood, sweat and tears." She grinned sourly and gestured towards her leg.
"The thieves are twins. One's a Fanbeemon and the other is...a yellow worm with no eyes! And black zig-zags" She laughed a little, lifting a hand to hide her mouth and the faint flush on her cheeks."I'm still trying to learn all the Digimon by name!" This guy didn't seem the type to disparage her for being new to the whole digimon thing so she didn't mind quite so much all but admitting her ignorance to him. Still, despite her earlier misgivings he seemed like the capable sort. She felt her shoulders relax a little before she gestured towards the dune. "That's where I last saw them heading, Morgan, the bee, really can't carry Roger for long periods of time so I bet they will have to land soon."

Elliot could hear the skepticism in her voice, and the teasing grin on his face turned a bit more confident. "I know, I might not look that fast. But thankfully, I have my ways," he said, following her motion and taking out a Digivice of his own. His looked different from hers, perhaps more like the one she may have seen Kan using. Regardless, the same conclusion would be drawn from both of their gestures; despite how it might look, these two were theoretically capable!
That said, the joy was taken away a little when Elliot heard how much work Hiroyo put into her hat. Having occasionally made costumes for him and Isaac on Halloween, Elliot knew just how much effort this kind of thing took. Having such efforts just spat on, especially by those you considered partners? That just wasn't right. "We'll get to it before they can do too much. I promise," Elliot said. Hearing Hiroyo's little laugh only strengthened this resolve, honestly. She seemed like a sweet, gentle person. It'd be really unfair for her to be screwed over by this too badly.
Elliot brought his Digivice to his heart and squeezed his eyes shut, and in that simple motion his Digivolution began. An orb of light surrounded him, slowly melding around his shape. Eight wings unfurled from his back, two from his shoulders, two from his wait, and two wrapping around his torso. A long, gown-like shape seemed to shimmer down from him, and his hair lengthened. A mitre formed over his eyes, and with that last step the luminous silhouette faded away. Now MagnaAngemon Priest Mode stood where Elliot once did, a warm smile as he extended a hand to Hiroyo. Frankly, he just looked like an even more mature Elliot, which considering how confusing his age already was might have just been a bit too much for the poor woman.
"Shall we take a bird's eye view?" he offered, hovering ever so slightly above the sand.

Ah, this really was a kind soul Hiroyo had found. At his promise that he could keep up she turned fully to face him, her eyebrows arched expectantly. She really hoped he could prove her wrong, she'd hate to fall behind for nothing. "Alright, show me whatcha got." She prompted, her disbelief in his abilities evident from her tone alone.
Disbelief that was rapidly extinguished when he pulled out the Digivice. The tamer recognized it in shape if not in coloration. Her expression immediately twisted with apprehension and she even went so far as to take a half step back before she was able to replace her expression with something more neutral. "Oh, ah, I see you really can be useful!" She didn't want to deal with a weird, creepy thing like what she had seen before! Too bad she had already gone past the polite point of when she could turn down his help. Or had she? "Actually, I think I'll probably be fine on my ow-"
Ah, that was a pretty light. The difference in evolution sequences was as clear as night to day. She felt her jaw open as the wings appeared, and frankly she lost all thought to closing it about half-way through. "Wow..." The light fading away seemed to start rousing her from her stupor, but the hand extended towards her was what really snapped her out of it. Hiroyo shut her jaw with an audible click.
"Did it hurt-no, ah, spirit user?" She broke off an awful thought a little too late as she stepped forward. The way she carried herself suddenly seemed more self-conscious than before, but to be fair she had just watched a dude turn into an angel. She managed to set one hand delicately on his own, her eyebrows still attempting to merge with her hairline although at this point it was more due to astonishment than disbelief.
"Sounds good. Can you share the wings or...?" It was a valid question! As good as getting a bird's eye view sounded, he didn't know what to look for and she couldn't fly so what exactly did he have in mind?

Even in the more relaxed state of emotions that MagnaAngemon seemed to feel, Hiroyo's roller coaster of reactions was quite amusing to Elliot. The way she snapped from disbelieving, to worried, to somewhat awe-struck earned an eyebrow raise from the angel once he had fully materialized, a small smile on his otherwise poker-faced expression. Hiroyo was certainly a strange one, with how quickly she had cycled through at least ten moods since the two had bumped into each other five minutes ago.
This one was the best yet, though. The poor girl was so dazed that she started mumbling something before snapping back into reality. "That is correct," Elliot said, his voice far richer than the lighter, softer voice he had as a human. "My brother and I have both had this power for some time now. This form is admittedly a newer one to me, but it already feels quite familiar. Perhaps that is the advantage of having one that is so . . . human." No shit, familiar! This was basically just an older, winged version of himself. Cut the flowing locks and Elliot'd basically be looking in a mirror. As far as ways of coping with his return to the Digital World went, this was hardly a bad choice of one.
The angel may have been stoic, but he wasn't unbreakable. As soon as Elliot felt the feather-light touch of Hiroyo's hand on his own, a soft pink blush started to dust across his cheeks. Mentally he was quite oblivious, but physical gestures? Those never failed to knock the wind out of the poor boy's sails. She asked if he could share the wings, which Elliot honestly wouldn't count out when it came to Digimon abilities. Heck, he might've even had a card that was capable of doing that. Unfortunately, though, cards didn't work on people, so Elliot would have to improvise.
He turned his hand over, taking Hiroyo's in his. Then he gently guided her towards him before scooping her up bridal style. Was it embarrassing? Yes. Was it also the easiest way to carry someone who would probably get nervous about flying? Also yes. Once he had Hiroyo secured his wings spread, a single beat of them causing Elliot to take to the skies.
He may have also taken advantage of this contact to do a little bit of healing. Perhaps Hiroyo would be too distracted by the weightless feeling of flying to notice the soft white glow on her bruises and wounds. Surely that would be nothing, right?
Past this point, it was really more like gliding than flying. Only occasional beats of Elliot's large wings would be needed to keep him aloft. Instead he focused his attention on the sands, looking for where a bee and a worm could be hiding. Their bright coloration, while great for telling predatory Digimon to buzz off, would be their downfall when sticking out against the bright white sands and crisp blue oceans. "Let me know when you see them," Elliot said, as if thinking nothing about how casually he had scooped Hiroyo up. "Or if I can make the ride more comfortable for you. I know first time flying can be nerve-wracking, for some."
Gee, Elliot. Why is that?

Who decided to give the kind and sweet dude the ability to turn into a literal angel? That was just too on the nose to be anything other than deliberate, and Hiroyo was starting to wonder if there was some sort of order to the spirit-thing. Although with her sample pool being two people she couldn't even call her hunch an educated guess. If it really wasn't random then the voice change was an excellent change in her not-so humble opinion. It fit the form well and was easy on the ears to boot.
"Oh, you have a brother?" Mentally Hiroyo wished for a convenient wall to smash her head against because clearly her facilities needed a jump start of some sort. Way to show your listening. "I mean, does he also turn into an angel or something else? You said human so...do you have non-human forms too?" This was a valuable chance to nose her way into more information about his li-the deciding factor on who got what spirit. Maybe she could figure out how to get a spirit, it'd be nice to do some of the fighting herself.
They weren't far apart, and with her attention fixed solely on him at the moment it was easy for Hiroyo to spot the patch of color on the angel's face. Her mouth twitched at the corners as her eyes widened like a cat that had just spotted a mouse. This guy was way too earnest for his own good, he seemed super easy to manipulate! Not that Hiroyo would ever do that.
That didn't sound like her at all. Nope.
She opened her mouth to say something when he flipped her hand over and she closed her jaw, curious as to what he was going to do next. He probably couldn't actually grant her a pair of wings of her own, or could he? The Digital World, as she was rapidly learning, basically laughed at what most people considered 'impossible' and then did it anyways. It was a little infuriating and threw her off-balance in a bad way.
Her thoughts were abruptly interrupted as the angel-man literally threw her off balance and pulled her into his arms. "Aha. Don't I at least get your name before you sweep me off my feet?" She teased as she looped her arms around his neck as if it were the most natural thing in the world. Hiroyo had not qualms about invading other people's personal space, why would she have issues with him invading her's? Especially when it was such a welcome move. She was surprisingly at ease in his arms, as if she got swept off her feet by towering angel men all the time.
At least she was at ease until he started flying.
Her arms tightened around the back of his neck and her expression became stiff. She wasn't afraid of heights, but there was a big difference between crawling her way up a wall and being carried through the air that translated on an instinctual level to 'fearworryfalling'. She breathed deeply through her nose, her gaze trained firmly on his chest as it was the far more pleasant view after all. She'd be quite fine if she could just stay here, please and thank you.
At the mention of the bugs she realized she was going to have to turn and look at the ground and she really did not want to do that right now. His comment about some people being uncomfortable flying drew a short but sharp laugh from her throat.
"I can't imagine why! It's certainly an...uplifting experience." She gave that odd laugh again. It was a shame he hadn't heard her laugh normally yet, at this rate he might think that was her normal laugh! She shut her eyes and readjusted one hand at a time from looped around the back of his neck to clinging to his shoulders with all the considerable strength she could muster as she slowly, carefully leaned to the side and turned her head around. She opened her eyes and look down, her legs tightening on his arm. She had a job to do and she'd do it, completely understandable fear responses be damned!
It was a good thing her hat was so ridiculous, and a good thing the twins were so brightly colored. After what felt like hours but was really only minutes, she spotted them. "There! Those dunes down the beach, away from the city! Wait, what's that whi-" She sucked in a deep breath as she saw a yellow body
-'Roger,' she immediately thought because Morgan could have-would have caught himself in the air-
get slapped into the ocean by something huge and white with too many limbs. "Shit! I don't think he can swim! Get me down there!"

"I do not know what my brother turns into anymore," Elliot admitted.
He would have loved to explain more about how spirits worked, but he didn't have the chance before Hiroyo stole his footing out from under him. Her voice turned teasing as she practically twirled into his arms, wrapping her own around his neck in a firm yet gentle grip. It was as if Elliot picking her up was the most natural thing in the world, and something about the whole situation caused the blush to spread quite far across Elliot's face. It sure was a good thing that Hiroyo hadn't leaned into Elliot's chest while saying that, or she would've even been able to feel his heart skip a beat or two. "I-" he said, clearly a bit dazed and distracted. "My name Elliot. What is yours?" Yeah, even MagnaAngemon's serene voice and perpetual poker face were a bit flustered, judging by the shy way he was making eye contact.
As they took to the air, Elliot figured he could at least answer Hiro's original question. "Spirits are strange. There are at least four types of them that I have known of," he started. "The first one we find is like a small creature of sorts, the Sprite. Then we find one like this, either humanoid or flat-out humanlike. Afterwards is the beast, which is stronger yet more monstrous. Finally, the fused type combines the best qualities of the beast and the human, giving both greater power and greater control. My brother and I originally wielded spirits that were like dragons in nature, but . . ."
Oh, thank goodness. Elliot didn't have to explain things, because Hiro had noticed her partners! Immediately Hiro started nervously worrying, Elliot doing his best to prevent her from falling as she wiggled in his grip. If this had been a high-speed form like Isaac's Devidramon, maybe he would've been able to make an easy descent. As is, he'd really need to push himself in order to get down there in a timely fashion.
Thankfully, Elliot was ready to push himself. He held Hiroyo tight and close, eyes narrowing in determination as he looked down at the large kraken in the waters. "Please, hold on tightly," Elliot said as he started adjusting his position to be more aerodynamic. One of his pairs of wings helped wrap around Hiroyo as well, ensuring if the creature took issue with their approach that Hiroyo would be protected. Then, once he was properly set up, he rocketed down to the waters with a heavy wingbeat.
Thankfully, the squid-like Digimon didn't seem to notice or care about their approach, likely figuring it to be a Swanmon diving for food. That gave Elliot a chance to fly towards the launched-away thief, the smooth wingbeats of an angel creating no crests in the water despite his speed. He made sure to gently reach down a hand as he approached, assuring the young Digimon "Do not worry. I am here to help."

"Sounds like a gentle name for a gentle soul." Hiroyo said with a smirk. Ah, that flustered expression was perfect! It was hard to believe he was such a novice when it came to flirting but maybe that was just because he spent so much time in the digital world? Whatever the reason the redhead was enjoying herself greatly. Most of the guys she knew didn't fluster at all. "You can call me Hiroyo~"
Honestly, Elliot going on about the spirits did a wonder for Hiroyo's nerves. Of course it helped that she was focusing very hard on his chest so she didn't have to see how far above the sand she was, but still. His voice was melodic and pleasant to listen to, as one would expect from an angel really!
Too bad she had to ruin it by spotting the twins, but she did want her hat back!
"It's a pleasure!" He didn't have to tell her twice! She adjusted her hands one at a time and then clung with all the force she used to haul herself up climbing walls at the gym. She had quite the grip strength! That combined with the wings wrapped around her should ensure she didn't met any nasty falls on the way over.
Meanwhile, Roger's world had gone from high-flying fun to wet and miserable. Electricity danced across his skin and into the water around him as his desperate flailing kept him just above the surface. He really wasn't built for swimming of any sort! And there was that stupid squid to worry about too. Roger knew he had woken it from its nap but was slapping him into the ocean really necessary? Roger thought not!
"Hachi Hachi Call!" A familiar buzzing noise filled the air and Roger had one less thing to worry about for the moment. Morgan was no doubt attempting to harass the squid with his bees, probably trying to block line of sight and distract it. If only Hiroyo was around, she was great at playing bait!
A voice broke into his complaining and he managed to focus enough to sense a brilliant bundle of electricity above him. Whatever it was felt okay, but Roger was still hesitant at first. He flicked his antenna in defiance and opened his mouth to make a retort only to sink far enough that when he came back up he was coughing and spitting sea water.
"C'mon Roger, it's okay! Elliot's here to help!" Wonders of wonders, there the human was! Now that he knew she was there he could just barely make out the typically happy-crackle-buzz of Hiroyo tucked among the steadier, stronger hum of whatever was holding her. Something with wings, probable an angel if it'd been conned into carrying her. As much as he thought her decision making was clearly awful, hitching a ride with a do-gooder was usually a good idea.
The Kunemon flexed his body like a snake in the water until he was able to lunge towards the limb extended towards him, attempting to grab on first with his beak and then arching his body up to spiral around the being's arm. He huddled around the convenient source of warmth and safety as the last bits of electricity slowly began to fade from his skin.
"S'bout time you got here!"
"Don't even. Where's my hat?"
"I get set upon by the world's rawest calamari for no reason at all and you're crying about your hat! Maybe you should get dropped in the ocean!"
"You deserved it! I wish he'd hit you further out!"
Not even a minute after pulling Roger out of the ocean and the two were already bickering, hopefully Morgan could keep the squid sufficiently distracted because help certainly wasn't coming from these two! -------------- Roger -Rage of Electricity: 2/2 - ending after he starts clinging to Elliot's arm 0/3 CD

Elliot smiled softly at Hiroyo's kind words. A shame he was taking them as actual niceness and not flirting. "I would like to think that, even with gifts of the spirits, fighting does not always need to be the answer," he admitted. "I have had quite a bit of luck keeping it that way since coming back to the Digital World. I hope to continue to do so, even if I will still fight when I must." There was a resolve in Elliot's voice rarely seen among those his age. It probably didn't help with the perception that Elliot was a young adult much, did it?
Still, at least he now knew the name of the strange woman he was carrying around. "A pleasure to properly meet you," he said. "Your name has quite the nice sound to it, too." He had to repay the compliment from earlier, right? It would only be fair.
Now the time for pleasantries was over. Now it was time for action. Hiroyo seemed all too happy to snap into action, commenting it would be her pleasure, but Elliot figured that was just her concern for her partners showing. He nodded as she clung to his chest, making sure she was tightly and safely nestled into his wings before starting her descent.
His descent was fortunately as unnoticed as he had hoped, and Elliot was able to start making his way to Roger's location. The Kunemon was just as on the ball as Elliot was, hooking onto his arm and making his way into the angel's grip. Elliot's arm seized up a little from the last discharges of static electricity coming off of Roger's body, but thankfully the worst of the Kunemon's attack had passed. Elliot's sleeve would just be a little frizzed up, and his ears would already be filled with the sounds of Roger and Hiroyo squabbling.
The two were at it fast and furious, wishing they were both flung into the ocean. Frankly, Elliot didn't expect that. He knew partners could be at odds sometimes. Maia and Kuu, for example, tended to argue quite a bit, but it was always over goofy, inconsequential stuff. Or whether Isaac smelled or not. This, on the other hand, was different. They seemed outright frustrated with each other. Clearly, something was up here, but Elliot figured poking the rather literal hornet's nest would have only made it worse. He sighed, starting to fly the duo away from the Gesomon in the hopes that he wouldn't be noticed.
The good news was that he was able to easily support the duo's weight. The bad news was that, while bees were currently swarming Gesomon's face, Roger and Hiroyo's arguing was actually starting to drown out the droning of bee buzzing. Morgan had been able to hold Gesomon's attention until then, but now their luck had run out. With a bellow the Gesomon tore through the water, aiming a hefty tentacle smash right at Elliot's back. Elliot grit his teeth in concern, flapping his wings desperately to try and get out of the way of the incoming blow. It was a success, but quite the close call: Elliot's back was practically drenched from the spray kicked up as Gesomon's tentacle impacted the water.
"Your other partner is still out there," Elliot warned, looking back over his shoulder towards Morgan. "Should I bring you to sure, or keep you near the fight to keep an eye out on him?"

How embarrassing to have to be reminded that there was one of their member who was busy fighting while they were arguing! Hiroyo at least looked ashamed, Roger clearly did not care.
"You mean he hasn't gotten free yet? Slooooow!" The Kunemon drawled, his antenna twitching. He was vaguely worried about Morgan but there were only so few things in his arsenal to use! Also the Fanbeemon should be able to just fly away, right? Actually, no wait maybe not. Not with the way the squid was tossing water around. "Alright! Take me with you, if you drop me on it's head I can really do some damage!"
"My legs are feeling much better, you can drop me here!" As she said it, Hiroyo was surprised to find that it was true. Sometime between chasing the twins and arriving at the scene of mayhem she seemed to have recovered enough that nothing helped the way it had before. She turned her head so she could look at Elliot's mask and squinted at him. As much as she had a suspicion this really wasn't the time nor the place. "They'll need me nearby to provide power, and I can grab Roger out of the waves if needed!" And play bait if things started really looking bad. That was not really a role she wanted to play, however.
The Kunemon would have squinted if he could. As it was he merely turned his beak to face her for a pondering half-moment then nodded. "That sounds like a plan to me! Just stay out of the way, Hiroyo!"
"GET OVER HERE!" Immediately the two in Elliot's arms went pale because one of them had never heard Morgan holler like that and the other had only heard it a very long time ago. Quickly their attention turned back to the fight.
"Put her down, put her down!"
"Just drop me if you have to!"
Morgan hated yelling, but he hated when certain idiots he was associated with screwed around during a fight even more. He was willing to give Hiroyo a partial pass on not reacting with the haste a champion versus rookie fight deserved because honestly he was just glad she hadn't charged blindly in this time. She had even brought help! Roger, on the other hand, knew better. Honestly it was so against the Kunemon's belligerent manner that Morgan was almost surprised.
At least until he remembered Hiroyo was over there. That was something they were going to have to deal with when he wasn't fighting for his life. To be so aggressive towards her to the point that Roger wasn't immediately jumping back into the fight? Not good for long term survival.
Luckily for him the Gesomon had decided that the prey getting away was more important than the poor Fanbeemon, even if that was exactly what he had been trying to avoid. With a frustrated shake of his head he flew backwards to gain a little distance. A bright silver light encased his tail blade and he wiggled his abdomen to send blades of sharpened wind at the Squid. He didn't doubt for a moment that trying to fly away now would end poorly.
