"Look out!"
She bursts ahead, taking the direct hit of the attack. Pain surges through her entire being, but she doesn't care. They are more important than her. This revelation came with many battles both physical and emotional, bonds forged through fire. They were the ones to show her the world is bigger than just what she can see. They taught her friendship, kindness, and love. She would not let it harm them!
Unfortunately, these bonds weren't enough to protect herself. The attack bores right through her, stopping her body, blurring her sight, as her mind replays the last few seconds on repeat.
"...look out..."
This was it. Her final moment. She had managed to save them from its attack, but she knew it wasn't over for any of them. Only her.
"........out........"
The world fades to nothing. Her mind fades to nothing. Yet a spark remains.
"..........................."
After the pain, there is numbness. After the chaos, there is stillness. After the storm of violence and emotion, the calmness of darkness envelopes her.
"It cannot be over. It MUST NOT be over! They... they are still out there! I cannot let them perish!"
Her first thoughts in the void were towards 'them'. Those she had left behind in dire uncertainty. How could she let this happen to them? "Why... why was I not strong enough... to protect them like they protected me?" Her friends, those she cared most deeply about, were out there, fighting without her, while she floats in the land between. "It is not supposed to be this way! We... we need each other! We belong with each other! We were together, this cannot happen while we are together... it is impossible..."
While physical pain is now beyond her, a new type of searing, red hot pain fills her. "That digimon... that digimon will PAY!" Thoughts turn to revenge, churning into a maelstrom of hate. "You took me from them when they needed me most!" Will they soon meet their fates and follow her here? Will it claim them as well? Who else will fall? She cannot even remember why it attacked them. What should be a moment of clarity in death is clouded over. "If I come back... if I can come back... and if I find you... you will PAY! I will take the pain and suffering you have inflicted unto me and deliver it unto you tenfold!"
The anguish bubbles and evaporates into fear and desperation. "Please, Yggdrasil... I need to go back! I need to make sure they're okay! I... I can be deleted, even completely if you wish, if I can at least save them." Unfortunately, there was no answer. She did not expect one, but there was one tiny shred of hope that there was something that could be done. "Ebonwumon! Zhuqiaomon! Azulongmon! Baihumon! Help me... please... please help me." If she fully existed and there was a way for her to shed tears, she would be crying hopelessly. In this limbo, however, she can only despair. She had to save... she had to save... them... whoever they were. She couldn't quite remember, but she knew they needed her now... and she needed them always.
But there was nothing to be done.
Any chance she had to do something about all of them was gone. How long had she been in the darkness? Seconds, hours, days? It mattered not. Her impact among the living was over for now. She is fading into data, nothing but a core. Soon, she'll regenerate into a pitiful egg, if her data core isn't about to be absorbed. She will sit in that egg for a while, then hatch into a baby, her whole life reset. And during all this, the world will change without her. She'll change as well, becoming a helpless blob, alone, afraid, not knowing anyone. "It's not fair. It is just not fair! Why... why does this have to happen to me? What did I do to deserve this?"
Her cries mean nothing, of course. Nobody was here to answer her lamentations. She knew this already. It was too late to cry out to the darkness. Nobody would hear her now. If the Sovereigns and Yggdrasil didn't answer her, there was nobody left.
That did not stop her, however. "Please... anyone... someone... don't take this from me!" Her torment raises to its peak. The pain in her heart explodes, her mind reaching out in all directions, trying to find something to latch onto to make it all better. Let me have something! Anything! There must be something... something someone can do to let me have something to return to... don't let my core be taken, don't let me return to the world and have nothing..."
There were still no answers. Why were there still no answers? Why was she being ignored? She can't be ignored! "It is just not fair," she cries, echoing her earlier statements - but this time with outrage, not despair. Her fear has vanished, her grief muted, replaced with indignation at being left in the darkness, unheeded. "It isn't fair! I deserve better than this! I deserve much better than this! You can't do this to me! Hey! Listen to me, hear me! Listen! Pay attention to me!"
It seems there was nobody to pay attention to her, so she hardened her resolve. She would be regenerated. She would be reborn. And then everybody would pay attention to her! "That's it! I will come back, and when I do, you will not ignore me! I will be loved! I will be cared for! I will be the best digimon ever, so nothing bad will ever happen to me ever again, you'll see!"
Her existence begins to solidify around these ideas. Soon, she'll regenerate into a beautiful egg. She will grow inside the egg as she becomes more and more beautiful, then she'll hatch into the best little digimon the world has ever seen, her whole life beginning. And she'll change the world with her beauty and glory. She'll change too, becoming amazing, surrounded by adoring digimon, everyone wanting to know her. And that is just fine by her.
