A Comforting Place [Haru]

Tawna just seemed to... actually be visibly confused at Toki's spirit's statements, if because they truly were alien to her. Was she even really that close to the girl? She could tell Haru cared for her, but it was difficult for herself to say the same way. Affection was difficult for Tawna to process, and to actually display it...? Well, she could feign it... but that was a struggle in of itself. She just seemed to mellow out for a moment, her vision drifting off to the side. "... I guess."
Haru just seemed to smile patiently at Tawna, she actually picking up the Champion level (admittingly against their will, but they allowed it), she scratching the maine coon's head slightly. "D'awww, come here you lug. We're buds, even if you don't feel like we are." she reassured the Meicoomon, turning to Toki. She was actually thrilled at the idea of maybe assisting Toki in such an endeavor. "We'd love to! I think we all could use a lil' help from our friends at times... And I'm glad you think the same way!" she cheerfully spoke, happy to hear from Toki that in a way they were at least friends now. As someone whose had a drought of friends in recent years, every new person she could meet was a boon.
"K's a wonderful person... She helped Tawna unlock her Ultimate level, and so far we've been making repeat visits to keep them company! A lil' sparring and stuff, help them to adjust to the form... You know, like being a little more gentle? I think we have been making progress. Maybe you can tag along next time! I'm sure K would love to see you again!" Haru ended up suggesting, thinking that it would have been an excellent idea. K was probably awfully lonely back there, meditating 24/7... so having someone else to chat with would have been great she felt!
It only occurred to Haru then that perhaps Toki's feeling may have been harmed just now, her expression changing to a more caring and gentle look as she inched a bit closer to Toki. They had a lot on their plate as a Spirit Wielder, but this didn't mean they were to be discredited of either half of whom they were. [/b]"Don't be like that man! Your capable of doing things I could only dream of! I mean, turning into a Digimon? That's some superhero tier stuff right there... Me? All I do is stay on the sidelines and be a cheerleader for Tawna. Don't undersell yourself!"[/b]

Tawna looked like she was uncertain, but Toki's spirit hoped this meant he had gotten through to her in some fashion or another. He smiled, but was still concerned over Toki's self doubt. It wasn't the first time he felt uncertain with himself and it bothered him every time. Toki was a good person in his eyes and to see him belittle himself at the smallest of hurdle was saddening to witness.
Toki began to feel a little bit better when she agreed to go with whenever a totem is involved. It made him feel like his changing social attitude was truly something for the better since he now has people he can rely on when things get tough. "The first one was in the desert in what was apparently my spirit's old training grounds when he was alive and in his earlier stages. We had to go up against a Digimon similar to what my spirit is now, but apparently it was an Ultimate. If it weren't for K keeping him occupied, I don't think I would have worked up the courage in time to talk him down."
"It's great to hear that she's been going around helping others like she helped me. It really just makes me respect her all the more. If we all happen to gather together at some point I wouldn't mind some tips on how to fight better..." he reflected on some battles he had previously and remembered that he always seemed to fight far too recklessly. It got him hurt more often than he'd like to admit. He smiled a bit when she said that K would love to see him again.
He took a deep breath and calmed himself down "I appreciate the kind words...really. It's just...a bit hard to get used to all of this. Part of me doesn't necessarily feel like a superhero, but when you put it that way it's actually really eye-opening. I'm doing stuff that most people would only see in fiction. That's...amazing. I should take it slow and appreciate what I'm capable of." he seemed to be feeling better, but those thoughts still lingered. Regardless, he wanted to try and be more positive for the people supporting him.

"I mean, strength isn't always like how strong you are physically. I think there's a kinda thing such as how strong you are as a person. I mean, talking down an Ultimate level? That's not something everyone can do! That's really freakin' brave of ya!" Haru added into Toki's brief talk about their trials against the guardian. She had a lot of respect for someone capable of doing something like that. That's not easy at all.
Still, Haru seemed happy to hear Toki was receptive to tagging along some time for a sparring session. The only problem she COULD see from that was Tawna not playing nice. "I think it could work out, but I think we'd need to work on Tawna holding back. She and K almost really injured eachother the first time they fought. Then again that was the first time she ever Digivolved to Ultimate level, so things kinda got a lil' crazy."
Tawna seemed to sigh slightly, her ears drooping down slightly. "Certainly was not my strongest moment back there. We'd have very well near killed someone if either of us had not stopped the fight when we did."
"It was an accident, and it won't happen again." Haru calmly reassured the feline, scratching them on the head lightly. Sure it was a possibility... but not a likely one. She could trust both K and Tawna to not get things to be too insane if they all tried to train together.
The girl began to lay down on the grass, staring up at the night sky. "You know... I think if I were younger, I'd be ecstatic about exploring a whole new world, getting away from normal life... but at the same time, I realize now that the Digital World isn't like a replacement for it. It's a part of our lives now, whether we like it or not."

Toki smiled "W-well I guess I never looked at it as being particularly brave. I just...did what I felt like I had to. The Antylamon there and their situation kind of reminded me of home, actually. My family runs a dojo over in Ishikawa, and he was trapped in some ancient training ground. He was trapped in this old place, constantly fuming in anger and grief...I almost related to him. I usually spent a lot of my time in my room at home, either training or alone with my thoughts. If I didn't have the chance to come to Shibuya and meet my spirit..I don't know if I'd be who I am today. I guess that's why I was able to get through to him. I understood him."
He tried to change the subject and listen to Haru talk about the time K and Tawna fought "I can imagine that higher Digimon stages just get harder to control or maintain if you're not ready." he said. He worried that he wouldn't be able to stay in his new form for very long when it would be important. "I'm glad all of you are okay though."
His spirit nodded "Well it's good the battle did not escalate that far and that no one was seriously hurt in the end. Haru has the right of it, however. Just keep that experience in mind and it is less likely to happen again."
Toki nodded and sat down "Yeah. Both of these worlds are important. We have to figure out how to prioritize them, but it's exciting. It's a new experience for us humans and a new experience for the partners we are bonded with. Both worlds are strange and new to us." he looked up at the stars "At the same time, experiences in one world can make us see our own worlds in a different way. That's how I've seen it anyway."
He sighed "S-sorry, I'm rambling again. I don't mean to get pseudo-philosophical on people. That's not really my strong suit anyway." he said with a nervous laugh. He normally saved these sorts of topics for whenever he was writing, not conversing with someone, so he felt a bit awkward about it.

Tawna did not deny the concept of higher forms being tougher challenges to control. Indeed, her first evolution to Meicrackmon Vicious Mode was quite exhiliarating, almost too much. "I admit... My Ultimate level form almost seriously injured K. If she had not jumped to Super Mega, I'm not sure if I would have been able to control myself..." the maine coon commented. Controlling her newest form was her top priority, for Haru's own safety.
"To be fair, it kinda was a furry metal death machine. I mean, Meicrackmon Vicious Mode. That's not exactly the nicest name for a form if I had to say." Haru added on, smiling encouragingly towards the Digimon. "I know you'll be fine though! I'll help you however possible pal." she spoke as she laid a hand on the feline, petting them. She was rewarded by a slight purr on Tawna's part despite their deadpan face.
Haru nodded happily towards Toki, the guy managing to more or less cover every one of her own thoughts regarding the Digital World. "I agree Toki! All of this has been I feel helping me sort out some of my own shit in life, both as a person and my own dreams. Ever since Tawna jumped into my life, I've been meeting so many wonderful people that... well, for the first time in a long while I feel genuinely happy with my life now." she spoke, a slight bit of water coming out of her eyes that she wiped away. "... Heh. Sorry for being a dork. I get emotional." she awkwardly laughed, feeling a sorta kinsmanship with the Spirit Wielder. "It's nice to talk to someone about stuff like this honestly. I haven't had that luxury I feel in a long time."

Toki's spirit was taken aback by what Tawna had said "K is at that point, is she? Wow...she's far more powerful than I thought before..." he was clearly impressed. "Still, the fact that it ended without severe injury is fantastic to hear." He sat down next to Tawna "I think you have a lot of potential, Tawna. Just keep past experiences in mind." he said. He sighed "I apologize if all I do is spout advice. I simply desire to help my friends and allies reach their full potential." he said, slightly nervous about his mannerisms. "How is the human world treating you? It's a fascinating place, isn't it?"
Toki smiled at his spirit and Haru's encouragement towards Tawna. "Maybe not the nicest sounding, but it sounds really cool in a way." he added with a laugh. He found it adorable when Tawna began to purr despite her face looking so disinterested.
He looked rather happy that Haru agreed and felt such a kinship already "Antylamon has been a huge help. He's always pushing me to communicate with others and just...better myself as a person in general. The physical hardships of exploring the Digital World has helped me out a lot too. I've learned a lot about what I'm capable of. And what I'm not. Overall, it's just been great."
"It really is nice to talk about this. The more people the better, I think...it's not something I'll ever really to talk to my own family about. Also, don't worry about getting emotional. I don't get why that's such a taboo in all honesty. Bottling it up just makes it worse in the long run." he said with a shrug.
It was getting rather late "Wow, time flies, doesn't it? I'll have to get back home soon. What about you? What are your plans?" he asked. "I've got finals to worry about, myself. Fun times." he said sarcastically.
His spirit looked over at him "Your education systems are so bizarre to me, but they are important to you, yes? If they are so arduous then we should do something special to celebrate when you are done with them. What that is, I am not sure, but we should think about it."
Toki smiled "Yeah, we'll think of something." he said as he packed his things into his backpack "Maybe something interesting will be on sale...maybe something will be going on in the Digital World. Only time will tell!"

Tawna wasn't the type to usually be insightful, but she took the spirit's words to heart. As a Digimon, she used to for the most part accept that fighting was her way of life... yet with how infrequent combat has been in her new life with Haru, she was finding herself doubting a lot of previous knowledge she held value to. Strength was something she was realizing wasn't an end-all tool to all problems, no matter how strong she became. "I am trying my best to... adjust to this lifestyle. It's calm... peaceful even. It's not something I am used to. I'm very used to the cruelty of the Digital World, so it's a bit of a stark contrast."
Haru just smiled reassuringly, continuing to stroke the feline's fur in her lap. "Little steps girl. Little steps." she calmly added, letting out a bit of a cute giggle.
"Yeah... It's for the best that we don't tell our families. They just... they just wouldn't understand. Still, knowing that we aren't ever alone makes me feel much better about hiding secrets like that." the girl spoked to Toki, happy to see he wasn't really one of those guys that just kinda kept their emotions to themselves. There was something way more human about being able to express your feelings to another in a manner that you both were in sync... something that Haru felt was rare to see nowadays.
Wistful thinking aside, it took Toki bringing up how late it was for Haru to snap back into reality. Actually, crap it WAS kinda late wasn't it? "Aww man... had to remind me of college, did ya? I've got like a bunch of papers I need to cram next few days stat." she sighed, gathering her things as Tawna jumped off her lap.
"I'd prefer you get it done as soon as possible. I want to go back to the Digital World soon." the Champion level pleaded, almost cutely despite how solemn they tended to be.
"We will, we will. I promise." the girl reassured the feline as she pulled out her D-3, Tawna's body turning into 0s and 1s as they were scooped back into the device. Nonetheless, seemed their time tonight was coming to an end... though the girl thoroughly enjoyed Toki's company. "We should really hang out later! Human world... Digital World I think we'll be great friends Toki-kun ~ !" she giggled as she soon got up, waving goodbye to both the young man and his spiritual partner before soon making her way through the moonlit night.
For Haru, the future just seemed to grow brighter and brighter... and she hoped those of the people she has met will too.

His spirit nodded and stood up. Before he faded from view, he said "There is peace and conflict in both worlds just as there are those who will aid you and those who will harm you. I remember many bitter struggles from my past life, but I also remember just as many happy times with Digimon I would gladly call comrades."
Toki frowned. He felt a little guilty about it regardless. They were out there doing obviously dangerous things and their families don't know anything about it. What will happen if they get hurt or worse? How would they explain it? He decided it was best to put these worries aside. Now wasn't the time to dwell on the negatives. It did make him wonder, however...how long has the Digital World existed? How long were humans able to go there?
He laughed at Haru's reaction "Yes, yes, you better focus on those. Next time keep the time dilation between worlds in mind! Great for studying or cramming for a big test." he said with a grin. He was nothing if not pragmatic with his studies.
Toki watched as Haru packed and eventually converted Tawna back into data into her digivice "I'd like that. I'll let you know if something comes up!" he said as he waved farewell to his new friends. He hoped to see them again someday soon, once they both had the time.
He stepped away and looked up at the sky and wondered what was going to happen in the future. He checked his phone and noticed he had a message from his father. When he checked it, he frowned a bit and read that his father was coming to Shibuya to visit in the next couple of days. He replied that he was looking forward to seeing him again before putting his phone away with a sigh. It was going to be an interesting week.
