The process of teaching K, though seemingly extended and drawn out, was actually no more than a couple of minutes within the Digital World, and as such, word had been sent to Viktor on the appearance or discovery of a D-Reaper Nest. One that was separate from the core, so it was nothing more than a starving creature without connection to it's host. However, it still posed a risk to both the immediate area around the woods and the woods themselves. The duo ventured out, gathered word and prepared to fight a familiar foe. Viktor assumed it would be nothing on the level of the TigerVespmon, but caution was still advised.
Genesis, who seemed... distant as of late, was more than happy to go along with Viktor's plan. Moreover, she was ready to take the form they knew all too well by now. Viktor noticed somethings in her that made him uneasy, but it could wait until they dealt with this threat.
Just as he was told, there was a quarantine around the area of the D-Reaper infection, and it seemed to stop in a very condensed area around the woods. Though still very large, the woods were largely unaffected. Viktor sighed and spoke to the guard stationed there, standing abreast to him;
"This is it then? How bad is it?"
"Ah! You must be... Kajunemon? You are a human though. Spirit wielder?"
Viktor chuckled, "Not exactly."
He gestured to Genesis and she nodded. The two began glowing as a that same whistle echoed through the woods. The surefire sound of Digivolution. But... more powerful and deeper in it's octave. Almost instantly, there stood Kajunemon in his full six-tailed power. He sighed out and looked down the to the Gazimon guard, resting his hand on his sword hilt;
"Let's go clean up."

Not every ancient Digimon understood the ways of the modern world - which was likely what led to this situation of 'too many cooks in the kitchen'.
The scare in the Dark Area had reminded the world of how terrifying the D-Reaper could really be, of course. It made sense that further appearances of that 'monstrosity' might get blown out of proportion, and attract an array of both curious and determined travelers to either witness or fight such a threat. As Viktor would make his way deep into the Server Woods, though, the sight he would see was far from the terror of the Dark Area. Yes, the ground was covered in a familiar red plaque, but there was not a single agent to be seen, nor even a sense of malice in the air. From the forest's floor, silver grass - sharp, and corrosive to the touch - had sprouted up much like crab-grass...
... And three Digimon were already on the scene, well under control.
The Meramon were hard at work focusing their flames on the area, but no sense of urgency filled their expression. At the sight of a newcomer, one briefly took a pause, and walked up to meet the Ronin. "Another one? I'm sorry, we aren't taking reporters or news crews right now." He took one glance over his shoulder: "Apparently some Puppetmon got into a scrap with a Piedmon or something and destabilized the ground here. Usually doesn't get this bad, but I guess whatever happened over in that dark shithole kinda messed this place up. Anyway, go ahead and relax, bud."
He turned, aiming his palms to the ground, a torrent of flame spewing over the grass. "The D-Reaper ain' a thing to be scared of."

The Super Mega shook his head, his brilliant orange coat swaying as he did,
"I was asked to assist. After my battle with the D-Reaper agent in the Dark Area, I figured it was best I at least gave the request a look."
It was so much that Kajunemon didn't understand, it was more that he didn't really trust anyone else to deal with the threat. Of course, he wasn't here to fight with those who were on his side, but they would most definitely get in his way. He looked to the Mon that was burning the plaque away on the ground, his casual approach to the dangers almost setting the Fox off, but he managed to control himself;
"There is a core, we deal with that, what you're doing will be made easier. Which way was this fight?"
Suddenly his head begin to hurt and soon he became aware that something became aware of him. But it didn't feel malice or dangerous. Rather, it felt as though it was curious... wondering what he was. Something inside him answered back in such a way that it forced him to hold his own temples subtly. The Meramon might have noticed the sudden changes in the fox, but as soon as he was pointed in the direction of the fight, correct or not, he would vanish as quickly as he arrived.
The red plaque littering the trees was definitely the sign of the D-Reaper, and the further he ventured in, the more his head began pounding. He groaned a bit as he leaned against the tree... his body burning as though it was cramping. But, through sheer force of will he ignored it and continued on. The D-Reaper was a threat, and while these Digimon may have had control over the scenario, they had little idea what the Agents inside were capable of. TigerVespmon would have steamrolled over them and pushed into the nearest village. They wouldn't last against one like him... the fox had to end it. He needed to. His very being was pushing him deeper and closer to his own suffering. He planted his sword in the ground and knelt...
It wasn't his own will that pushed him in deeper. He was being manipulated either by a hyper intelligent being or by a much less creature that acted on instinct. Either way, he'd bring his blade up and slowly begin backing away. Whatever was aware of him seemed to be calling out. Not to him, but to something else. For all he knew, he was just imagining everything and he looked like a nut wandering aimlessly in the forest.
But something was definitely out there

"Eh? Then you were either told wrong or the help didn't pull down that bogus mission request in time." Honestly, the Meramon seemed more annoyed than anything else, letting out a groan as this... fox-thing insisted on taking a closer look. Heck, he even mentioned some sort of core.
"Look, I really don't have time for this. Whatever shit happened in the Dark Area isn't a typical action. Literally any Digimon above champion level can make the D-Reaper. Watch." To make his point, the Meramon pressed his palm against a free patch of dirt, and surged forth with a blast of flame - followed by an ash plume. The two attacks repeated in succession, scorching the ground underneath his feet before being extinguished by the ash.
Eventually? The fire Digimon raised his hand, and indeed, a small red mark, like scratches against the surface of a car, had appeared beneath the hand. "Its the world's natural response to corrupting agents - otherwise, the entire world would be reduced to nothing more than a glitchy mess in under a year. Sometimes too much of it builds up, so we get called to burn it away."
As for the fight? "And how the frick should I know? Here, probably, like yesterday or something. I ain't their keeper, you know." Right, Kajunemon had incurred the frustration of a probably-below-par-wage service worker. "There is no core, and there is no monster here."
How wrong he may have been. Blunt as he was, he wasn't attuned to Viktor's condition, other than seeing the more outward effects: "Feh. If just seeing this stuff makes you about to lose your lunch, I don't even know why you showed up."

Right. Kajunemon didn't really make it that far as he listened to the Meramon ramble. He would, however, get to the point he was completely out of sight of any Mon in the area. There were no monsters...? The D-Reaper was a normal counter to the Digital World? How did he never see it on his own then? Perhaps he never blurred that line. This whole nest was nothing more than two digimon who violated the laws of the Digital World.
But something was whispering to him... something was calling him. It didn't start until he arrived here. There... had to be more to this ordeal than the Meramon was letting on, or more than he knew. He swiped at a tree, cleaving it in two as he brought his sword over his head and did it again, and again and again! Kajunemon would shout;
"Show yourself! I can feel you watching me!"
He swiped again, clearing another tree as more whispers and more 'eyes' put a focal point on him. He only sunk down and looked around, sitting on his backside as his chest rose and sank in quick succession. If he could sweat, he would be swimming in it. The fox breathed out as he stood up, slicking the loose strands of hair back as he sat and meditated, using this moment of clarity to center himself and meet this challenger that apparently existed only in his head. The Fox tried to think, but a word came forward... a face.
Captain.
He shot his eyes open as he looked around and drew his blade yet again, maybe there was more to this than just the world fixing itself. But then again... there was some of that intertwined within in his own data. The more he thought, the more he thought the dangerous where in his own head.

Seriously, how come he always had to deal with the nutbags?
For as tense as the Kajunemon felt, as introspective and fearful as he may have been, all the Meramon could do was look at him, and see... well, see a crazy fox warrior that had snapped, starting to wildly swinging at the trees around them! Unfortunately for the three Meramon, it was a Digimon with Super Mega strength that had just lost it! "Alright, enough already!" Retreating to a safe distance, the Meramon spoke, venom practically dripping from his tone.
"I don't know what your problem is, but have it somewhere other than here. We'll be done in two hours, tops. No reason for you to be using anything close to what you're using, you dig?"
Well, if the Kajunemon never showed up, that might have been the case. But even for a nest this small and this pointless, a certain air would start to creep around the already-infected fox. A voice, starting low but soon echoing within, would demand that he protect the little red 'pond' here. Worse yet, the longer it went, the more it would make sense in his head...

The Meramon was right... The forest was their call and he was only getting in the way. He would raise a clawed hand to silence him as he was finishing his sentence and speak calmly,
"Just... something ticked. You do your job. I'm calm now."
He was, for the most part, not lying. The voice he managed to hold at bay, but as soon as they ignited and destroyed that Plaque... he flinched. It hurt him! The voices came back, a low rumble in the back of his skull that was pleaded with him. No. Commanding him. He took a deep breath and shook his head, trying to push out the thoughts as he put a center point on his own mind, it was no use. The low whispers became shouts. The calmness turned to anger. The Ronin slowly stood up, no longer wildly slashing as he closed his eyes, trying to gain on less foothold on the worm that was wiggling deeper into his psyche.
"Enough..."
Another blast. Another casual comment about how this was nothing more than a chore.
"I. Said..."
He began turning and tilting his head as he blinked, his body tensing as they ignored him and continued to destroy this vaccine. These corrupt fools and their lack of understanding. Who did they think they were destroying something that was such a gift and protection to the Digital World? He brought both arms to his chest and roared out;
"Enough!"
The word echoed out as several trees bent and the plaque of the Reaper returned on the pressure of the shockwave and the Meramon would have likely been either sent flying several hundred meters away, or would have been vaporized on contact, depending on how close they were to the now enraged fox. Just as quickly, the Fox drew his blade and slid across the ground, bringing his sword over and around in a single spin that looked to cleave one Meramon in two! The Ronin, who still looked as when he took over, relentless hunted the last Meramon before intercepting him, looking to floor him and leave him reeling on the ground.
Whatever was commanding him, now had full reigns. The fox, who's eyes had hunger, only began panting animalistically. It was up to the voice within his own head now... this Meramon would either join them as another guard, or he would be killed where he stood!
Soon, the corruption these digimon created would be cleansed. Kajunemon would be the sword to deal that blow!

We good?
We good.
That was the general tone the Meramon had with the Kajunemon as he finally promised to calm down, and try and screw his head on right. And for the next few minutes, everything would seem to go smoothly, the three Meramon paying little attention to the fox. The sounds of the flames blocked out the lower grunts, but as the Super Mega's objections became more pronounced? The three elemental Digimon simply ignored it.
"Look, we don't tell you how to do your job, so-"
What the frick was that? With one echoing boom, all three Meramon were instantly on guard, their flames blistering away at their sides. The closest one flew backwards, while the other two stood fast, moving quickly to try and surround this beast. As could be expected, that single swipe of the blade was enough to tear straight through one of the Meramon! The elemental grimaced, the form sealing back together after a moment, before he'd drive his fist right towards the crazed fox's gut! "Snap out of it, you!"
For the first time, desperation could be heard in their voices

Protect.
The Mermamon managed to heal the swipe and then followed up with a blow of his own. As the fist would meet the fox's midsection, he would simply stand there and look down and the much shorter Digimon. Then, as quickly as his sword damn near cleaved the one Meramon in half, he would reach out and try to grab the flaming Mon with his clawed hand. He would push downward and only glare into the very eyes of his foe. If they looked back, they'd only see the look of madness.
Kajunemon would then hoist the flaming humanoid into the air and throw him several meters backwards! Then, before the airborne Meramon even hit the ground, The corrupt Ronin rushed forward and attempted to shoulder check another! Then brought his sword over and around to swipe at another one of these trespassers. Afterwards, he would breathe and plant his sword, falling to his knees and breathing. Something dug away at his insides... burning his very soul as his head became just as hot. He turned and kept his almost prone position as he began panting. Even if the Meramon hit him with a barrage of attacks, he wouldn't move. It was as if he was suddenly petrified where he knelt.
If anything, it would give the three worker digimon a moment of reprieve. They'd have to leave the forest if they wanted help. But they might find it easier simply end the threat here, rather than let it fester!
To everyone else, the fox's outward appearance remained the same. Save the slight red tinge around his outline and the black and red eyes that darted from one Meramon to another. The Ronin spoke in an almost distorted voice;
"Leave... or kill me. Do. Not... hesitate."
The longer this went, the more the voice would command and soon, the fox would no longer be able to control it. He managed to hold it at bay long enough for the Meramon group to flee or give a combined attack to finish the fox!
They had to act now before the fox lost control!

Seriously, what was today? It seemed that the mere champion's searing fist wasn't nearly enough to get the fox to snap out of, well, whatever was going on, and the Kajunemon's counter was swift to follow. Grasped tight around his shoulder, the flaming Digimon recoiled in pain, gritting his teeth as he stared into this maddened monster eye to eye.
"Tch... what are..."
No time to finish that thought! Hoisted and thrust into the air, that first Meramon gave a tumbling roll backwards, idle flames catching against the dry grass of the clearing. Similarly, the second elemental would be quite easily body-checked by the fox, splintering apart into an array of flames. Despite the extreme level difference, though, it seemed that there was little these four fire-element Digimon could do to each-other...
... At least, at a cursory glance. Somehow, the fox managed to ascertain a little bit of control of the situation, enough to declare that ultimatum to the three Meramon. Leave, or kill him. The leader gave an annoyed 'tsk', but to him, the answer was clear: "We'll handle it, alright." The other two Meramon fled right into the forest, but the more vocal one gave a glow - and after a moment, his visage would be replaced with something a little more durable.
The SkullMeramon, with ghastly blue flames radiating from its skin, gave a glare, raising its hands to aim towards the fox - before pivoting, turning towards the field itself! "BURN!"
It was simple, but effective: a massive array of ghastly blue flames, erupting from a molten steel base, started to pour down over that red mass! Rather than try and deal with the fox directly, why not just get rid of the substance that drove him mad?

Attack
The SkullMeramon began giving orders, and while the fox had his mind in place, the sudden attack on the D-Reaper's response made him act just as quickly. He would drop his blade and rush the Ultimate level digimon, looking to check him and knock him off balance long enough to stop attack the substance he so aggressively defended. The Fox would then use his human's knowledge to attempt to sweep the leg of the SkullMeramon and toss him into several meters backwards. From there, he'd lean back and hold his fist out, the flames burning even hotter as the corrupted data began creating even more plaque that dripped from the center of his fist.
He rushed forward, sliding against the ground as he spun and stopped just short of his foe, then unleashed a powerful, very hot explosion from the end of his palm that even the beast made of fire might have found a little too toasty.
The fox didn't stop there, he relentlessly assaulted the SkullMeramon with a flurry of calculated, yet wild punches that would no doubt do some damage to the much lower level digimon. It was apparent that these cleaners weren't expecting something like this, so the Ultimate level was likely the only one who went in the way of reinforcements. Even if he was fast, there was little chance he dodged every hit the fox threw his way.
By the end of his assault, he'd hip check the SkullMeramon and move to recover his sword! Quickly turning this fight into a very lethal one if the Leader stuck around. In a way, the punching was the last trace of sanity the fox had that plead with him to leave. Even the Ultimate was a skilled fighter, he was far outclassed.
Hopefully, the assault made that apparent

The SkullMeramon was under no illusion that he could stand up to one as powerful as Kajunemon. The power of a vicious and violent Super Mega would be enough to tear him to shreds in any sort of direct fight, which was why the flame elemental never intended to contest him directly.
No - it was much more efficient to go after the offending mass, directly! If the Ronin was, indeed, controlled by the D-Reaper, perhaps eliminating the mass would be enough to allow him to pull his mind free. Which was why, even as he was being assaulted, the SkullMeramon did not cease expelling his flame! "Ugh!" Heavily checked by the Kajunemon, the flame elemental gave a back-step, narrowly causing that ankle-kick to miss, as the cloak of flames around him started to brighten. Rather than let himself be thrown, the Digimon instead kicked off the ground - intentionally throwing himself towards the center of that red mass.
And should he land there, just outside the range of that explosion, the Meramon would hold his arms out to the side. The blows would be heavy, but the elemental wouldn't cease: "Primal Burst!" Like an exploding forge, the flames around him would expel outward, threatening to cover this entire, corrupted clearing in a searing blue flame! Kajunemon might have been a crazed, lethal fighter, but it surely would be difficult to block this entire outburst!
Unless, of course, Kajunemon decided to stop pulling his punches a little sooner than he intended...

No.
He watched as the pest only attacked the D-Reaper's solution. So casually at that. He did manage to stop is assault and block as much of the plaque from his attack and turns, sword in hand and threw it directly toward the SkullMeramon! It seemed to be opposite! The more he attacked the D-Reaper, the more the fox would become enraged!
Should the blade miss, the Fox would bring his fist up and attempt to knock the SkullMeramon clean down with a heavy punch! From there he'd look to throw the SkullMeramon in the air, retrieve his cursed blade and cleave him in two in mid-air! Despite if the attack landed or missed, he would land flawlessly and looked over, seeing his work as he clenched both his fists, the plaque of the D-Reaper dripping into the ground as he continued to spread what little he could from what the Ultimate destroyed.
If the SkullMeramon was still untouched, the corrupt Ronin would bring his sword around and rush at his normal blinding speed, the same plaque leaking from his tails and body as he looked to finish this once and for all!
This pool was growing every second, and it demanded to be protected!

Sheesh, what was this gap in power? The SkullMeramon knew, at this point, that the likelihood that he'd survive this encounter was pitifully low - much less, survive it unscathed. He knew this, but he also knew that left unchecked, this fox could end up burning half the forest in a rampage. So he grit his teeth, and set his resolve:
Rather than flee and put the land at risk, the SkullMeramon would put all that he had into this primal burst! Even as that sword flung itself forward, piercing easily through the elemental's chest, he did not waver - not even as red data poured out from his chest, scattering out into the wind. The flames still burned bright, the Meramon's mask looking intently on this approaching fox. Grinning underneath, the monster let out that blast of flames, unhindered, just as that fist would be flying to punch him in the face.
It would seem like that blast of fire, that Primal Burst, was his last effort - so much so that after it, the elemental would have completely vanished from sight.

Despite the clear indications of the SkullMeramon having no intentions of leaving this forest. The Corrupt fox, in his maddening rage, still continued forward, looking to break the neck of his foe. The idea of protecting the D-Reaper was so prevalent in his mind that little else mattered. The warnings, the dangers. All ignored as the fox took the brunt of the blast! His massive, limp body hurdled unfettered by the obstacle of the lumber. Each passing log taking a piece of the fox before he finally skidded to a stop, just before a large red 'puddle' of D-Reaper plaque.
He tried to stand, but much of his body was reduced to his one-tail form and he couldn't fight the fatigue that set in his very bones! The red data slow escaped from the exposed wounds as Kajunemon was coming back, smiling to himself as the world faded to black. He thanked the SkullMeramon as he gave one final sigh.
When he opened his eyes, it was not to that of Swanmon greeting a newly hatched digimon, but rather the tendrils of the Reaper weaved all through him as he weightlessly floated in an endless expanse of red. He only screamed as he tried to escape, but the tendrils wrapped tighter around his torso, his legs, and arms. Pulling him closer to the bottom. The pulsing appendage wrapped around his throat, then circled around to his head, resting atop is head as he watched it apply some sort of solvent and just as it did, he spun his head around and bit the tendril!
He broke from the red prison only to realize, in his horror, that it was little bigger than a toaster oven! He looked at himself... his body still has lithe as the one-tailed reduced form. His fur was a dark grey with red highlight throughout as the only semblance of clothing was purple armor plates on his hips and two, long strips of cloth that hung from his waist and base of his tails. But the most shocking part was his head. It was simply a skull! Not a mask or a ornament. But his actual face
Soon... his sober mind began fading as he felt... something tick in his mind. A voice. A calling. Something commanded him to stay and protect. It soothed the burning in the skull of a face he had and gently hummed a pleasant sound as he began slowly dripping the ever present plaque that marred these woods. As he spread the Reaper's gift slowly further and further out, he would sink back into the red plaque, waiting to attack those who dared harm his new master.
