Today is a special day for Ravenna. This is the first time she is going to the Digital World. Her friend Kiyoko has sent her on a mission to investigate strange activity in the Server Woods. Ravenna heads to the Trailmon station and boards a train to the Digital World. Eventually she reaches the Server Woods, an area known for having lots of trees and not much else.
Ravenna approaches the entrance to the forest, taking in her first moments in the Digital World. She takes out her D-tector and spirit evolves into Psycrowmon, which resembles an average crow. Ravenna takes to the skies, soaring over the treetops. While Ravenna is perfectly decent at flying, the true test lays in learning what it means to be a Spirit User.
(Thinking) "Ah, such a beautiful view. It's so freeing being a bird. I just hope this area isn't that dangerous."
As Ravenna flies across the forest, she notices some Digimon down below. She swoops down and perches on a tree. She watches as a Terriermon is being picked on by a Mushroomon. Ravenna gets in closer for a better look. Mushroomon punches Terriermon, knocking him on the ground.
"Aha haha ha ha! What's the matter, you yappy little mutt? Can't even defend yourself?" "Shut up, mushroom brain! Why don't you just leave me alone?" "You know this part of the forest has been claimed by the Virus Brigade." "Since when, Mushroomon? You're nothing but a bunch of common bandits. Bunch of scumbags if you ask me." "Well nobody asked you. I wonder if you would be this cocky if our leader was around."
Ravenna has had enough. She doesn't like bullying, even when it's in the Digital World. Ravenna flies closer to the Digimon, and with an obnoxious squawk, she fires a Psychic Blast, knocking down Mushroomon.
"Argh, who dares interfere? Don't you know who I am?" "Just what are you doing picking on Digimon?" "What's it to you, feather head? Take this!"
Mushroomon throws a few exploding mushrooms towards Ravenna. Some of them explode next to her, dealing moderate damage. Ravenna lands down on a stump, glaring at Mushroomon.
"Why don't you run along before I really start to get mad? It's two on one." "Ha. Terriermon may be a weakling, but he knows not to mess with the Virus Brigade."
A few minutes after arriving, and already Ravenna has found herself in a battle. Is this Virus Brigade Mushroomon speaks so highly of responsible for the strange activity as of late? Is this assignment from Kiyoko more than Ravenna can handle on her own?

So, Mushroomon is part of this bandit clan that goes around harassing Digimon? Well Ravenna isn't going to stand for that. At least, that's what she thinks a good Spirit User should believe. Not that she wouldn't do the same if she saw a bully picking on someone. Mushroomon charges towards Psycrowmon and throws a few punches. Ravenna flies around, pecking and scratching at the Virus type Rookie. Ravenna lets out a squawk, calling for three crows to join the fray.
Four birds attacking Mushroomon is enough to turn the tables against the bandit. The crows swarm over Mushroomon like birds fighting over a pile of seeds. Mushroomon takes a few steps back, guarding his face with his fists.
"Stupid birds. I'm outta here. Let's see what my boss thinks of you sticking your beak in our business."
Mushroomon turns around and runs away. Ravenna's feathered friends fly off into the treetops.
"That's right, run, you overgrown fungus!"
Ravenna deactivates her feathered form and returns to normal. She checks to see if Terriermon is alright.
"He shouldn't be troubling you anymore. Are you injured?" "I'll be fine. Thanks for the help, but I'm afraid your heroism will only provoke the bandits. So, you're actually a Human? What's that like?" "Well, I don't know. I do Human stuff. What's being a Digimon like?" "You must be a Spirit User, so you know what it's like being a Digimon." "I've only been a Spirit User for a short while. I don't know much about Digimon, and I have never been to the Digital World before."
Terriermon brushes himself off, smiling up at Ravenna.
"Then you're going to need a tour guide. I'll show you around. Though don't expect me to fight any bandits." "I thought Digimon practically lived to fight." "Almost every Digimon is strong enough to defend themselves, besides low levels. But not every 'mon likes fighting. I'm just a lowly Rookie, wandering the forest, foraging for food." "Is that why you didn't fight back when Mushroomon attacked you?" "I didn't want to get on the bad side of those dirty bandits. Come on, I'll show you were my home is, and tell you all about the forest."
Ravenna follows Terriermon through the woods. She catches a glimpse of a few Digimon, but most of them are cautious of a Human wandering the forest.
"Why are these Digimon afraid of me?" "Not all Humans do good things for Digimon. Some exploit Digimon for their own greed. Most Digimon around here will just give Humans their space. Unless they are looking for trouble. It shouldn't be much further now."

Ravenna couldn't believe it. Here she was in some strange virtual world. Apparently some Digimon suffer under others. She is still inexperienced, and doesn't feel confident on her own. Fortunately, she has Terriermon to show her the ropes for now. Ravenna follows Terriermon back to a small burrow in the ground.
"Not much room for a Human. Maybe I can make it bigger."
Terriermon climbs down into the hole, then starts shoveling dirt out. After a moment, he pops his head up and waves to Ravenna. She carefully steps into the rabbit hole and crouches down. Ravenna sits down on the dirt, just enough room above her head.
"Make yourself comfortable. Though it's just a figure of speech. We'll be safe here. Now, let's get down to business. A few weeks ago, there were reports of bandits seen in the area. Their leader, BlackGrowlmon, is one mean Digimon. He's a Champion level, so there's not much I can do to stop him."
"Is that a high level? I can spirit evolve to the Human Spirit level, or at least I think that's what it is called." "You really are a noobie. Ya, Human Spirits are like Champions, but there's still many more stages above it. There's some really strong Digimon roaming this forest." "So why don't the strong Digimon take out the bandits?"
"That's the thing. I heard BlackGrowlmon has these bands around his body. Whenever a higher level gets too close, they revert down to Champion level. Plus BlackGrowlmon gets a temporary boost in power. It's like he absorbs their energy. An Ultimate tried to defeat BlackGrowlmon, but they fell down to the Champion level, and that big lizard used his boost in power to make short work of them."
"So, no Digimon can fight him, unless they are at his stage or lower." "Yup. In my opinion, a few Champions should band together and take care of those no good bandits. It's not just one tough Digimon. There are other strong bandits lurking in the trees." "What can I do to help?" "Hmm, well you are too weak to challenge them by yourself. My guess is for you to get in some training before you try and take on the bandits. That or go back and find a veteran Tamer." "I handled Mushroomon no problem."
"That was just a Rookie. Trust me, you don't wanna fight a bunch of Digimon by yourself right out of the gate. Maybe we can find other Digimon to join forces with." "Alright, well, I guess I can train for a while." "Great! There's a clearing not too far from here. And when it gets dark, you can sleep here." "Uh, in here? I didn't pack very much." "What's with you noobie Humans? Tamers and Spirit Users always start out so stupid. Ah, no offense there." "Well that's just one rabbit's opinion."

With a new goal in mind, Ravenna climbs her way out of the rabbit hole. She didn't know what to expect, but nothing could prepare her for Terriermon's training methods. Terriermon climbs out, and the duo set up a few training exercises.
"Alright, now I want you to activate your most powerful form."
Ravenna takes out her D-Tector, and raises it out in front of her.
"Okay then. Spirit Evolution!"
The lovely young Ravenna Spirit Evolves to Suzamon, the Psychic Human Spirit. She has large black wings, and a skimpy attire with feathers that act as a skirt that wraps mostly around her hips. Ravenna reaches down and adjusts her attire.
"This stupid thing is going to give me panty lines or something." "I think you look great, by Human standards. Now, let the training begin! This is where I would normally play some inspiring music, but there's no outlet for my cassette player." "A cassette player?!"
Ravenna begins a series of training exercises designed to enhance her speed, strength, and endurance. She runs through a makeshift obstacle course with small branches laid on the ground, all while Terriermon is motivating her by shouting at her. She does target practice with her psychic attacks, improving her accuracy. She sprints to one side of the open area, then back again. Ravenna does sit-ups while holding onto a heavy rock. She practices punching, using Terriermon's ears as targets. She practices flying around, dashing through the forest avoiding the trees, most of the time. She scours the forest, gathering up firewood. She practices standing on one leg while balancing a large log in her arms. And lastly, she does push-ups until her arms feel like pudding.
The sun is about to set. Ravenna is exhausted from all the training. She reverts back to her Human form. She gasps for air, as sweat drips off her forehead. Ravenna collapses and lays back on the grass.
"Oh man, I can't take anymore. This is even worse than track practice. I think I'll just sleep here tonight." "Good job. Another few days of training, and you might just stand a chance against those bandits. Now help me get a fire going before you freeze out here." "A few more days?! I can't deal with this kind of training again. I need at least a day to heal." "Well what did you expect? One day of training isn't going to show much improvement. You need to stick to a training regiment." "Enough of your crazy training exercises. As soon as I can walk, I'm going to hunt down the bandits." "No you're not! You've gotta listen to me. Stick with me, and you'll be a fighting machine in no time."
Ravenna manages to get up, and the duo start a fire. Terriermon retrieves some rice in a pan from his rabbit hole, and starts cooking up a meal. Ravenna is delighted to finally have something to eat.
"Yes, calories! It tastes so good." "I'm glad you like it. Unfortunately, that's all the food I have left. We're going to need to explore the forest tomorrow for fruits and nuts. Make sure to get plenty of rest. I don't wanna hear you complaining about how tired you are all day."
After a nice meal around the fire, Ravenna and Terriermon head back in the hole to sleep. Ravenna tosses and turns trying to get comfortable on the dirt, but she is covered in sweat from exercising, and getting dirt all over herself.
"Argh, how can you sleep like this? I need a nice warm bath." "Get used to it, Princess."

After a horrid night of tossing and turning, Ravenna wakes up inside the rabbit hole. Her joints are sore, and her hair makes her look like some kind of rabid woman. She climbs out of the hole, then lays down on the soft grass. Softer than sleeping underground. Terriermon awakes in a cheerful mood, and hops out of his home.
"You're still laying around? Come on, you've got work to do." "I ache all over. That training was intense." "You are fatigued from a few exercises? You must be really out of shape. Why are Humans so lazy?" "I'm not out of shape, or lazy! I'm a track athlete with a scholarship."
"Yes, I know. You mentioned it several times yesterday. That's another thing about Humans, always talking about themselves." "Are you always this annoying in the morning?" "I happen to enjoy morning time, thank you very much. Now, why don't you start gathering berries before you ruin my good mood?"
Ravenna is not in the mood to argue with the big-eared rodent today. She takes out her D-tector and spirit evolves to Psycrowmon. Ravenna takes off into the skies, searching the nearby area for berries in the trees. Some of the trees have berries high up near the top where not all Digimon can reach. She finds a tree with a nice stash of berries, and swoops down to land. Ravenna breaks off a twig full of berries with her beak, and returns it to Terriermon before going back to look for more.
As Ravenna is soaring overhead, she notices a small tower sticking up off in the distance, and decides to take a closer look. As she flies closer, she can make out a small group of buildings surrounding the tower. Ravenna looks on from a distance, watching the Digimon in the area. She decides to fly back to Terriermon and tell him about the buildings.
"Hey Terriermon, there's some kind of camp just west of here. Did you know about that?" "Oh, really? I know there's a few scattered throughout the forest, but I didn't know of one nearby." "Can we check it out? Maybe they have beds, and indoor pluming." "Sure, I guess so. It's probably a bunch of Digimon that are standing up to the bandits."
Ravenna and Terriermon fly towards the Digimon camp. They land a few yards away, and look up at the small tower.
"Wow, you were right. I really need to get out more." "Can we ask to use their shower?"
Before they have a chance to greet anyone, a shadow passes in front of them as a large insect Digimon flies by overhead. A red Digimon with giant pincers and a terrifying appearance lands down between them and the tower, glaring down at the two Rookies.
"Uh, hello there... BWAHRK!" "It's Kuwagamon! Hey big guy, we don't mean any trouble. Just in the area, came to check things out. Ha ha, ha ha."
Ravenna wasn't expecting to be greeted with a fight. Had they stumbled upon a bandit camp? A whiny, high-pitched voice can be heard coming from the tower. Ravenna looks up, and sees a small yellow larva Digimon looking out a window on the tower.
"Hey, take it easy, you big oath!"
The yellow Digimon crawls down, and heads towards Kuwagamon.
"Sorry about that. My overzealous friend here takes guarding the outpost very seriously. My name is Kunemon the Magnificent. Perhaps you have heard of me?"
Ravenna and Terriermon shake their heads.
"Ah, drat! I need to find a better agent. Really get my face out there. I mean just look how drop dead gorgeous I am." "Whatever you say. Just don't hurt us." "Ah, would you relax?! You're fine. So, a woodland critter, and a bird. What brings you to our outpost?"

The insect duo Ravenna and Terriermon have encountered is quite the odd pairing. Kuwagamon makes for a good enforcer, while Kunemon, though clearly suffering under the weight of his huge ego, acted as the mouth and brains of the operation. Ravenna deactivates her Psycrowmon form, returning to her smelly Human self. She crosses her hands in front of her waist, and bows politely to the bug Digimon.
"I'm pleased to meet you. My name is Ravenna. I came here to figure out what has been causing a disturbance in the area." "Oh, so you are a Human! Well, you've come to the right place. Those bandits have been making quite the scene lately. Some of us have gathered here to counter their raids."
Kuwagamon lets out a low rumble, clearly agitated by the way the bandits have been destroying his homeland.
"I would be happy to help fight off the bandits. I may be an outsider, but I want to contribute."
Terriermon turns to Ravenna and raises his paws up. His expression tells her just how hesitant he is to confront the bandits.
"Whoah now. You're still green. Our best bet is to deal with the bandits peacefully when possible. If we go looking for a fight, more Digimon will be hurt." "But, we can't just let the bandits do whatever they want!"
Kuwagamon lets out a thunderous roar, his breath smelling rancid from eating bugs that crawl around inside trees.
"Calm down, Kuwagamon. Your breath's going to clog my pores. I've got to stay looking my best. It's not easy looking this good."
Ravenna has a confused look. She tilts her head to the side, scratching her head.
"So, uh, by Digimon standards, you are quite the looker, are you?" "What do you mean, by Digimon standards?! You can see how handsome I am, can't you? Maybe I need to switch to a new face cream." "Well, I just don't see what is so attractive about a little bug. I don't mean any offense, just confused." "Haha. Like you Humans appreciate true beauty. Your abdomen isn't nearly large enough to attract a halfway decent mate." "My, abdomen?"
Ravenna recalls her basic knowledge of bug anatomy. She reaches back and squeezes her butt.
"My abdomen is plenty large enough, so I'll take that as a compliment."
Kuwagamon raises his head up, chuckling to himself because Ravenna is not feeding Kunemon's high opinion of his own appearance. Terriermon shakes his head and buries his nose into his paw.
"Oh, how did I get wrapped up with you guys?" "Alright, enough messing around. We've got work to do, so if you want to help out, let's get back to work."

After meeting Kuwagamon and Kunemon, Ravenna gets to work helping out around the base. She gathers lumber from around the forest and brings it back for firewood and to reinforce the buildings. She searches for berries and fruits to eat, and herbs to be used to make healing potions for Digimon injured by bandit attacks. Afterwards, she spends some time in her Psycrowmon form soaring above the treetops, looking out for bandit activity. Later on in the evening, Ravenna reports back to the outpost for a well deserved meal.
The Digimon at the outpost gather around a campfire and cook up some fish Kuwagamon got from a Biyomon fisherman. He traded some gadgets that had been recovered nearby after bandits ambushed a small trade caravan. Ravenna enjoys having some delicious fish to eat. The small fruits and berries she gathered are nowhere near as filling, but still tasty, and provide some food for the outpost. Terriermon is laughing it up around the campfire like he is lifelong friends with the forest militia. Ravenna watches Terriermon tell jokes and make Kuwagamon laugh.
(Thinking) "Look at him. He really is a nice Digimon. Why is it that some Digimon are evil when they can be good? I would hate to see Terriermon injured or captured by bandits. He doesn't like fighting, but still he's here, helping the militia and putting himself at risk. I will do what it takes to drive these bandits out of the forest."
It's getting late. Some of the Digimon are starting to doze off. Suddenly, a strange noise can be heard off in the distance. Ravenna looks over, and sees smoke rising not too far from the outpost. Ravenna stands up and tries to get a better look.
"Kuwagamon, there's smoke in the sky!"
The half asleep Kuwagamon bolts up. He looks towards the smoke and lets out an angry growl. Kunemon crawls up the tower to get a better view.
"It must their leader. Kuwagamon, hold your position. If we engage them now, they could figure out where our outpost is at." "What are you talking about? The whole reason you are here is to protect the forest from bandit attacks." "You don't understand. Their leader is as vicious as he is smart. It's best to stay at the outpost, safe and sound."
Ravenna couldn't believe it. Kunemon has no guts. After all that talk about fighting bandits, and now he's chickening out. Kuwgamon gives Kunemon a look of confusion. He wants to protect the forest, but he doesn't want to cross his friend.

Ravenna isn't about to let a super vain bug tell her what to do. If there's bandits around, she's going to get ready for action. She turns to Kuwagamon and gives him a look of determination, before facing Kunemon and making a pouty face.
"Hmph. You're no leader. You just want to boss people around. Then when someone needs help, your looks and your wealth are more important than protecting the forest. Come on, Kuwagamon, let's roll."
Ravenna takes out her D-Tector and Spirit Evolves to Pycrowmon.
"You're making a mistake! Don't question my leadership."
Terriermon gives Ravenna a look of concern.
"Hey, let's not act in haste. Don't go looking for a fight." "We have to protect the forest. You can't just let the bandits run rough shot."
Kuwagamon lets out a low grumble. He nods his head at Ravenna, signaling that he is on board. Ravenna and Kuwagamon take to the skies and fly towards the fire.
"Ho yeah! You don't know what's coming, you dirty bandits!"
Ravenna and Kuwagamon land close to the flames. A fire is spreading across the forest. Digimon in the area are fleeing in terror. A few bandit Digimon are kidnaping small Digimon and loading them up in a wagon. Ravenna summons her crow allies to distract the bandits. She flies over to the wagon and tries to pick the lock to free the young Digimon. One of the bandits notices her and takes a swing at her with his spear. Ravenna manages to dodge in time, but she was unable to free the Digimon. The bandit signals the others to attack Psycrowmon.
"Hey, that bird is trying to free the Digimon! Get here!"
The bandits turn their attention to Ravenna. Her crows distracted the bandits momentarily, but they couldn't do much against the rogue warriors. Kuwagamon dashes over and starts attacking bandits at close range, catching them off guard. He slashes at them with his claws, and sends one crashing into the wagon by smacking them with his pincers. Kuwagamon lets out a battle cry, as the bandits recover and take a few steps back.
"You better let those Digimon go and get out of here before we really mess you up. BWAHRK!"

Ravenna and Kuwagamon have a standoff with the bandits. After two days of training and helping out at the outpost, Ravenna is glad to finally be seeing some real action. One of the bandits recognize Psycrowmon.
"Argh, you're that bird from before! I thought I told you to stay out of our business. Nobody messes with the Virus Brigade and gets away with it."
Ravenna recognizes the voice. She looks over and sees the Mushroomon from before.
"You should have turned your life around when you still had the chance, shroom head."
A large figure moves behind the flames. As they get closer, Ravenna can make out the appearance of a dark Digimon. BlackGrowlmon emerges from the flames, stomping through them like it was nothing. The Champion snarls and releases steam from his nostrils. The demon dragon looks over at Kuwagamon and Raye.
"Grrraarrrgh... more Digimon that wish to stop me? What makes you any better than those who tried before you?"
Ravenna stares up at the jet black dragon. The runes on his body glowing like the flames.
"So you're the bandit leader? You've been causing all this trouble? What makes you think you can go stomping around the forest, burning down trees and capturing innocent Digimon?! You can't just use your strength to get what you want. You're no bandit, you're just a dumb beast. Crraaawwrr!"
The Psycromon's words provoke BlackGrowlmon. He leans back and raises his arms out, showing off the blades on his elbows.
"You dare talk to me like that? You must not be from around here. It is no matter. Now you will suffer for your pride and foolishness."
BlackGrowlmon breathes out a scorching blast of fire with his Exhaust Flame technique. The flames fly towards Raye and her big red bug friend, as well as some of the bandits. Ravenna flies away a few yards, getting a taste of the flames. Kuwagamon takes a direct hit, suffering heavy damage. A couple of bandits catch on fire, and run around in a panic.
(Thinking) "He doesn't even care about his own lackeys? This guy is so horrible."
BlackGrowlmon takes a moment to revel after his attack. Kuwagamon lets out a fierce roar, digging his feet into the ground. He was letting BlackGrowlmon know that he isn't going to back away from a fight. He tilts his head forward, standing with his arms ready to strike.
"I remember you. You are Kuwagamon. You've attacked my men before. It amazes me that you have the intelligence inside that dull head of yours to even comprehend what it means to protect the forest. I pity you. A bug brain doesn't know any better."
Kuwagamon tilts his head back and roars louder than before. He flies towards BlackGrowlmon and attempts to grab him with his pincers. The demon dragon knocks him away with a claw strike, sending Kuwagamon flying into the flames. The big red bug manages to get up and gets away from the flames. Ravenna goes to fly over to BlackGrowlmon, but Mushroomon throws an exploding mushroom in front of her. Psycrowmon is tossed back by the explosion.
"Why don't you let the boss settle this with your big dumb friend here alone? Ha ha ha."
Ravenna is flustered. It looks like Kuwagamon was going to fight the bandit leader on his own. If Ravenna interferes, the bandits would step in, and then it would really be an unfair fight. Ravenna tries to think of a plan. She is ready to Spirit Evolve to Suzamon if she needs to.
"Ah, I must say, I do enjoy making you suffer. And once I squash this pathetic insect, I'm going to pick that crow's carcass out of my teeth."

Ravenna watches as Kuwagamon takes on the leader of the bandits. The big red bug lets out a loud roar, as the flames continue to rise. BlackGrowlmon fires another Exhaust Flame at the insect. Kuwagamon flies up, dodging the attack. The insect dashes towards the bandit leader and strikes them with his massive pincers. He gets his pincers around the demon dragon's neck, clamping down on his throat. It looks like Kuwagamon has the edge, but BlackGrowlmon sinks his claws into Kuwagamon's chest.
Kuwagamon's grip around the leader's neck loosens, as the massive bug collapses to the ground. Ravenna's heart sinks watching them suffer. The bandit leader leans back and roars, shooting flames into the sky.
"Bwah ha ha! Let that be a lesson to those who challenge my dominance. Time for you to die!"
Ravenna has had enough. She doesn't want the bandits to get involved with the fight, but she's not going to let the bandit leader kill her friend. She spirit evolves to Suzamon, the Psychic Human Spirit. Ravenna lets out an ear piercing Psychic Scream, disorienting some of the bandits, including Mushroomon. Suzamon flies over, standing between Kuwagamon and the bandit leader.
"What do you think you're doing?! I won't let you kill an innocent Digimon." "Haaa... so, you are a Spirit User. What's it to you? You'll regret interfering with my plans."
BlackGrowlmon strikes with his claws. Suzamon manages to dodge back. Kuwagamon struggles to rise. The bandits not affected by the Psychic Scream surround Kuwagmon from behind, pointing their spears at the insect. Suzamon summons her silver and violet blade made from psychic energy, and slashes at the bandit leader. Her blade slices the dragon on his arm, but it has little effect. BlackGrowlmon turns around, swinging his tail and smacking into Suzamon, sending her flying back and crashing into Kuwagamon.
Too weak to continue fighting, Kuwagamon lets out a sad groan. It's clear to Suzamon that Kuwagamon wishes to leave.
"Go on, get to safety, Kuwagamon. I'll hold him off."
Kuwagamon roars in disapproval. He's not going to leave her behind. BlackGrowlmon unleashes another Exhaust flame at the duo, badly burning Suzamon and Kuwagamon. Realizing that she is outmatched, she decides to flee and live to fight another day.
"Alright, let's get out of here."
Suzamon and Kuwagamon take off, flying away. Suzamon naturally starts flying back to the outpost, but Kuwagamon roars and starts flying in another direction. Suzamon turns and follows the insect. BlackGrowlmon roars, launching another blast of fire towards the duo, but they are now out of range.
"They'll never learn. Good riddance. We've captured enough Digimon. Let's get back to camp, and plan our next move."
After flying for a while in one direction, Kuwagamon turns and starts flying towards the outpost. It becomes clear to Suzamon that Kuwagamon was trying to avoid revealing the location of the outpost. BlackGrowlmon might figure out that there's an outpost of militia nearby, and attack. As they get closer, Kuwagamon struggles to continue flying. He crash lands on the ground a few yards away from the outpost. Suzamon lands next to him and checks on his wounds. Terriermon sees the duo and comes rushing over.
"Ravenna! Look at what you've done. Come on, let's tend to your wounds."
Ravenna is so disappointed in herself. She had bitten off more than she could chew. She didn't free any of the Digimon, and now Kuwagamon is badly hurt. She's not looking forward to answering to Kunemon. That little vain pest is going to chew her out for convincing Kuwagamon to engage the bandits.

Kuwagamon limps inside the tower and lays against the wall. Terriermon gets out some bandages and starts tending to the bug's wounds. Kuwagamon lets out a sad moan, sounding more like a whale than before. Kunemon comes inside, and upon seeing his enforcer in such a bad condition, it sends the vain little bug over his limit.
"Kuwagamon! Are you going to be alright? Oh, this is terrible! This is all your fault, human! You should have listened to me. There's no way we can take on the bandit leader on our own." "I know, I made a mistake. But at least I didn't sit around while that overgrown salamander rampages through the forest, burning down trees and abducting Digimon!" "You are mad at me?! What? And I bet you flew right back to the base after you got your butt whooped. Now the bandits are going to come here looking for a fight."
"Actually, we headed south before coming here. Maybe you should learn how to trust others, instead of only thinking about yourself." "Now's not the time for this, Ravenna! I've got a lot of work to do, and all this yelling is distracting me." "But Kunemon is the one who started it..." "Enough! Get out of my sight, you ugly human!" "Ugly?! Hmph..."
Ravenna turns and storms out of the tower. Still in her Suzamon form, she flies off into the forest. Ravenna finds a tall tree and perches near the top. She reverts back to her normal self, and makes herself comfortable. Ravenna sulks for a while, feeling guilty about Kuwagamon getting hurt in the fight.
(Thinking) "I was only trying to help. I thought that's what Spirit Users do. Even Terriermon is mad at me. Maybe I'm no good at this Digimon thing after all. I'm trying so hard, and it's like I'm still coming up short. Why is everything always my fault? I haven't even taken a bath in almost two days. I'm making myself miserable, and do I get any thanks? Bah! Maybe I'll just take off in the morning and let the bandits run rough shot through the forest."
After sulking high up in the treetop, Ravenna finally falls asleep. There's enough branches that she's not worried about falling off. Though it sure is cold up there. Ravenna isn't sure what to do. Should she go back to the outpost and apologize? Should she return home? Or should she try taking on the bandits herself? Well, based on their last encounter, she wasn't strong enough to deal with them. BlackGrowlmon was something else entirely. The next time they cross paths, she might not be fortunate enough to fly away. Hopefully by morning she will have a clear mind, and a clear conscience.

The next morning, Ravenna awakens to the sound of birds chirping cheerfully. Raye would not be sharing their cheerfulness after the bandit attack the night before. Still upset about the way Kunemon and Terriermon talked to her last night, she knows that is it time to face the music. Raye spirit evolves to Psycrowmon and flies back to the outpost, returning to her human form. She walks into the main tower. Kuwagamon is still recovering from his injuries caused by BlackGrowlmon. Upon her arrival, Terriermon and Kunemon glare over towards her.
"Ah, well look who it is! Did you come back here to cause more trouble?"
Ravenna looks down at the floor, feeling ashamed her actions lead to Kuwagamon getting hurt, and possibly revealing the location of the outpost to the bandits.
"Look, I'm really sorry. I just wanted to help. I'm willing to do whatever it takes to make things right." "Ha! Well, it's a little late to do anything now. With Kuwagamon hurt, there's no one left to protect the outpost."
Kuwagamon weakly growls at Kunemon, unhappy with the way the leader of the militia is treating Ravenna.
"I'm with the big guy on this one. Ravenna made a mistake, but she's trying to make things right. She has good intentions."
Hearing Terriermon stand up for her made Ravenna feel so relieved. She nervously nods at Terriermon, thanking him for the support.
"Well, if you really want to help, Terriermon needs a rare type of herb to treat Big Red over there. The problem is it only grows on the other side of the forest, past where the bandits have already captured. Though I doubt you could even manage getting a simple errand like that right."
"You know, I really don't care much for your attitude. I would never talk to someone like that who said they were sorry. I'll find your herb, but you better check your attitude, ring worm." "Argh, ring worm?! How dare you insult Kunemon the Magnificent?!" "Ah, give it a rest! I'm getting real sick of your ego trip. I don't know how Kuwagamon puts up with you."
Terriermon flies over to Ravenna. He lands in her arms and gives her a big hug.
"The herbs I need are blue with green spots. You can't miss them. Bring three back. Be careful, Ravenna." "I will be careful. Take good care of Big Red. He acts tough, but it's easy to see how much he cares about the forest. I bet he's a big softy on the inside."
Kuwagamon grunts, turning his pincer up at Ravenna. He knew she had a point. Ravenna sets Terriermon down, then takes off in her Psycrowmon form. She is careful to avoid the area occupied by the bandits, taking the long way around. _________________
Meanwhile, at the Bandit Camp, the no good ruffians are gathered around a campfire. A Gazimon is roasting a fish over the fire, but Mushroomon snatches the stick from him.
"Hey! That's mine! Do you have any idea how hard it is to get fresh fish here?" "Too bad! I'm a higher rank than you."
Gazimon raises his claws, and gets ready to strike the mushroom head. BlackGrowlmon stomps on the ground, and the two bandits fighting over the fish turn and look up at the leader.
"Rawr! You are fighting over a fish?! Useless! Mushroomon, what have you done recently to prove yourself worthy of your rank?!" "Uh, well, I-I, uh..." "Ha! That's what I figured. You're not much better than the common beasts we capture. I have a task for you. Do you remember the two we encountered last night?" "Ah, yes, boss! The crow girl and the big bug. I can't wait to pluck that bird's feathers out!"
"Argh... I have a job for you. Do you remember what direction they fled in? I suspect there is a base near that area. A group of weaklings foolishly trying to stall our conquest. I want you to investigate, and slaughter anyone in your way!" "Uh, ya, alright, boss, but uh, I don't think I can take them all on by myself." "Useless... come here."
Mushroomon nervously walks towards the bandit leader. BlackGrowlmon snatches the roasted fish off the stick and gobbles it up. The demon dragon stretches his arm out. The band around his arm starts to glow orange. Glowing bits of data fly towards Mushroomon.
"There. Now make me proud, you fungus. Go!" "Right away!"
Mushroomon scampers off out of the bandit camp. BlackGrowlmon sits down on a throne made of rotting wood, decorated with gold jewelry pillaged from traders.
"Those who challenge me are too weak to provide a true test of my power. And those that do stand a chance are too cowardly to fight me. I grow tired of these games! This pathetic forest isn't enough to satisfy me. The Dark Triad at their peak wouldn't even measure up to my strength, or my viciousness. Grawr... once we conquer the forest, we must expand our operations."
"But, boss, the forest is like, really really big. Ya think your men are going to take the whole thing over?" "No, I don't. After our next raid, I will burn down whatever is left. I will send a message to the entire Digital World! Grraaaawr!! The economy will plummet without lumber to cut. Hundreds, if not thousands of Digimon would be destroyed."

And so Ravenna found herself on an errand to fetch some rare herbs to heal Kuwagamon's injuries. She doesn't like this bossy Kunemon, but he's in charge of the militia fighting the bandits. Ravenna flies high over the trees in her Psycrowmon form. She reaches a heavily wooded area of the forest, and perches down on a branch.
(Thinking) "This looks like the right place. The herbs must not get much sunlight here."
Ravenna flies closer to the ground, searching for the herbs. Eventually she comes across a few blue herbs with green spots growing next to a clearing in the forest. Ravenna swoops down and starts picking some herbs with her beak. Suddenly she hears a voice.
"Shoo, crow! Leave my herbs alone."
Ravenna looks over and sees what appears to be a young woman with light blue skin and long green hair. The woman swings a tree branch at the crow, and Ravenna quickly takes off towards a tree.
"Hey, what's the big idea? BWAHRK!" "What? You're not a normal crow."
Ravenna spirit evolves to Suzamon, and lands on the ground.
"My name is Ravenna. I need those herbs to heal Kuwagamon, a friend of mine." "Kuwagamon? I hate that bug. He thinks he's boss of the forest." "Please, he was injured fighting the bandits. Don't you want to help the forest?"
The strange woman crosses her arms and turns her nose up at the Spirit User.
"Hmph! No one in this forest ever does anything for me. I spend a lot of time cultivating these herbs. My name is Azielmon. Digimon are always trying to take my herbs."
"Is there anything that I can do in return for the herbs? I only need three of them." "Well, I don't get company very often. I'll let you take three herbs if you have a meal with me. Come this way."
Azielmon motions towards a stump surrounded by a ring of flowers. She walks over and picks up a basket of fruit, setting it down on the stump like a table.
"I get the herbs, and a meal? Sure thing."

Ravenna joins Azielmon for a nice meal out in the forest. The food was much better than what she is used to in the Digital World. If she ever sees Kiyoko again, she's going to complain to her about sending her out into the forest without any food. Although maybe Raye should have planned ahead. Ravenna digs in, shoveling food into her mouth.
"Mmm, this is really good." "Your standards for excellence are not very high."
"Well at least I'm not living out in the forest." "Yes, I suppose you humans have grown attached to your luxuries, yet you cannot deny your animal instincts."
Azielmon slowly takes a sip of berry juice from an old stone mug. She seems fascinated by the Spirit User.
"So tell me, Ravenna. what brings one of your kind out to the forest?"
Ravenna swallows a mouthful of food.
"I was asked to come check out what's been going on in the forest. When I got here, I saw a bandit harassing Terriermon. Now it's my mission to rid the forest of those bandits." "I see. So you have no real reason for helping your woodland friends."
"That's not true. If that meanie BlackGrowlmon and his goons are going to pick on innocent Digimon, then it is my duty as a Spirit User to help." "Hahaha! Is that what you think? Ah, you amateur Tamers and Spirit Users are so naïve. It's charming in a way."
Azielmon offers Ravenna a mug of green colored juice. Ravenna holds it up to her nose and takes a sniff.
"What is this?" "It's a blend of limes and pomegranates that relaxes the body and lowers stress."
"It smells funny." "Just drink it you ungrateful girl!"
Ravenna gives Azielmon a curious look. Can she trust her?
"Maybe I'll pass. It smells kind of gross." "How dare you?! I offer you free lunch and you turn down my drink? It's time to put annoying bird girl on the menu!"
Azielmon's form starts to change. She breathes out several strands of silk thread that engulf her, forming a cocoon. Eight spider legs pierce out of the cocoon. Azielmon transforms into some kind of teal woman/spider hybrid. Suzamon gets back from the stump. Azielmon sprays out a barrage of thread that ensnares the Spirit User. Ravenna tosses and turns, struggling to break free. Azielmon forms a spider web in the opening. Ravenna lays trapped on the spider's web. Azielmon crawls across her web towards Ravenna.
"I bet you taste like chicken."
Azielmon goes to bite Suzamon, but Raye lets out an ear-piercing Psychic Scream that disorients the spider.
"You're not going to eat me, you creepy bitch!"
Suzamon caws, and her crow minions come flying over. They pick at the webbing binding Suzamon, and she is freed. Azielmon regains focus and fires a large thorn at Raye. The thorn pierces her in the left wing, and Ravenna cries out in pain. Suzamon summons her psychic sword, and lunges towards Azielmon. Raye slashes at the spider woman with her Energy Syphon technique, slicing into Azielmon's abdomen and absorbing health. Azielmon shrieks, and retreats along her web back into the shade of the trees.
Three of Suzamon's crows snatch up Azielmon's herbs and bring them to Raye. The spirit stretches her arm out as they perch on her left arm. One by one the crows drop the herbs into her hand. She had escaped a deadly threat.
"Now that is more like it. Let's take these herbs back. Great job, my pretties. BWAHRK!"
Crow 1: "AHWK!" Crow 2: "AHWK!" Crow 3: "RAH-RAW!"

So crow girl has acquired the herbs to heal Kuwagamon, and is returning back to the outpost. However, BlackGrowlmon's lackey Mushroomon would get there first. The bandit explores the area of the forest close to the attack last night, and comes across the outpost.
"Ah, what do we have here? Heh heh heh."
Mushroomon plants himself into the ground, and starts to grow. The bandit Digivolves to the Champion level Woodmon. The living tree approaches the outpost and throws several mushroom bombs up in the air. Terriermon is inside the tower tending to Kuwagamon when he hears the explosions going off. Kunemon is currently taking a bath on the third floor of the tower. He leaps out of the bathtub and sticks his head out of the window.
"Hey! What's with all the commotion? I'm trying to take a bath in here! Woah, who is that tree guy? Militia! Protect your fearless and attractive leader."
Kunemon cowers underneath the sink in terror of Woodmon. The Champion level approaches the outpost and knocks over a small shack.
"How do you like me now, vigilantes?! The Virus Brigade will rule this whole stinkin' forest!"
Several of the weaker members of the militia approach Woodmon with spears, but the living tree fires a barrage of spike shaped branches at the militia. Their spears are no match for the Champion. Terriermon looks out the doorway and sees Woodmon terrorizing the outpost.
"Argh, damn him! Kuwagamon's too injured to battle, and Ravenna hasn't come back yet."
The big red beetle lets out a weak roar, struggling to rise off of the bed.
"No, you still need your rest, big fella. And I don't see Kunemon coming to the rescue. Looks like it is up to me."
Woodmon throws some more mushroom bombs towards the tower, but Terriermon flies towards them using his Terrier Tornado attack, spinning around rapidly in the air. The wind from the attack sends the bombs back towards Woodmon.
"Ahh, that hurts! Stupid little rodent. I will make you pay!"
Woodmon shoots out several spikes at the Rookie level, but Terriermon dodges. The pacifist turned reluctant defender flies towards Woodmon, slamming against the Champion. Woodmon spits a flurry of sharp leaves from his mouth, catching Terriermon off guard. Woodmon swings his trunk-like arm like a club and bashes Terriermon, sending him flying against the tower. Kunemon pops out and looks down at the injured Terriermon.
"Don't just lay there! You have to protect me."
There wasn't much worth protecting when it comes to Kunemon. Terriermon is putting his life at risk to stop Woodmon from destroying the outpost, and he's cowering in the bathroom. Woodmon raises his arms out and cackles.
"Wha ha ha! Now who's the one calling the shots? I'm the boss of you now."
