Corrupted Power [Mission] [5/5]

The group continues to charge up the generator with their attacks. It feels like it has been so long since they first reached Old Terminus. While exploring the area and battling the security forces has been fun, Ravenna can't help but think about food. Even with the sound from their attacks, Ravenna can hear her stomach rumbling. Kuu asks Ravenna if there will be cake afterwards.
"I sure hope so. If not, then at least some muffins. Maybe I should have packed a lunch."
While Ravenna occasionally likes to go against her healthy diet for track and treat herself to some comfort food, she's not exactly great at cooking or preparing food. If there's no microwave around, she's going to go hungry. While they continue to charge the generator, Raye looks around the room to see if there is some kind of emergency supply of rations that they can consume.
"Are we lucky enough to find some snacks around here? Maybe some popcorn? I'm pretty sure we can nuke it with our attacks like we are the generator."
Once the generator had reached half charge, there is a strange warning message regarding side effects from charging the generator. Ravenna thinks that it sounds like one of those commercials for drugs prescription pills that are so popular in America. Raye didn't have a headache yet, but now she is more conscious of the possible side effects. This may lead to her suffering due to the placebo effect. Ravenna hopes that they will succeed without such side effects.
"Besides hunger, I feel alright. Wait, could I be getting a headache? I felt fine a moment ago. Nah, I should be fine. Guess it's time for another Psychic Wave. I figured I could do more attacks than this."
Suzamon's move pool is more geared towards support and crowd control, leaving her with few options to charge the generator. Raye builds up some energy and launches another Psychic Wave towards the generator. It wouldn't be much longer now. Then they could return to the city and get all the treats they wanted. If it wasn't for that discarded hot dog earlier, Ravenna's stomach would be running on empty right about now. Still, Ravenna is happy that she was able to aid Datamon and Kokabuterimon, even if she doesn't have much experience in the Digital World yet. ______________

More attacks would strike the generator. As Dio hit it, it would increase to 70%. Amelie's made it 75%. Kuu's blades increased it by 3 each to 84%, and then Ravenna's strike increased it to 91%.
"We're almost there!" Datamon exclaimed, then shouted "Digital Bomb!" once again launching eight mechanical missiles at the generator, putting everything he could into it. To his annoyance, it just fell short, at 99%.
"Shall I, sir?" Kokabuterimon asked. Datamon glowered at him silently, then the insect digimon decided to take his leave and with another cry of "Socket Burst!" struck the generator with a good electric punch, bringing it up to 100%.
"Very good!" Vademon's voice echoed around the room. More lights came on, and the doors that led out of the room ahead opened. All around they could hear the whirring and humming of machinery beginning to start up. "By activating the generator you've not only forwarded the cause of Science, you've also saved me a few thousand bits on my power bill. Yeesh. You would not believe how many zero's was on my last one. Anyway, proceed through the door to the next test!"
"Good job, everyone!" Datamon said, delighted at their success, even if he was panting a little from the effort. "Now, shall we proceed?"
As they moved into the next room, they would see another curious setup. It was a rather long room, 20 meters long, 5 meters wide, and 5 meters high. On the metal floor, there was little present, other than 2 rather long cables, easily the length of the room plus a bit more. The walls were mostly featureless, other than 2 large sockets on the far wall, and 2 on the near wall, one at ground level, and the other near the roof.
"Now then. For this next test, you're going to have to hook up the power cables, which seem to have fallen out, given that I programmed this message to play only if that's the case" the eccentric Vademon's voice would state. "If not, disregard this, and let me know, so I can fire my programming assistant. Anyway, your task here is to plug the cables into the right sockets. Please note that once connected to a socket, the cables will be carrying roughly a million volts, so you wanna make sure you'd hook them up at the same time, otherwise the discharge would quickly turn you into dust, or, something similar. Also, make sure you hook them up in the right way, the current only flows in one direction. So is that positive-to-negative? Or positive-to-positive? Either way, hopefully the labels will help you out. Oh. And you probably need some digimon that can fly here, if not, well, hopefully our janitors should be able to get you out of there in time".
On each socket there would be a "+" or "-" symbol next to it. And on each end of the cables, there was also a "+" or "-" symbol. Either way, further inspection was probably warranted.
OOC: The cables have 1 end marked "+" and 1 end marked "-".

Everything was working as intended! After Datamon's and Kokabuterimon's attacks, the two digimons seemed to relax a bit; something that was taken as a cue to cancel the evolution. Soon enough, Siftermon's form was undone, replaced once again by Amelie's. Some data particles dispersed into the air due to the change, all while the brunette gazed around and began hearing both Datamon's and Vademon's words.
"That's done, at least." Satisfaction was somewhat evident in her voice, even if the heavy lifting had undoubtedly been done by the perfect levels. In any case! At least regarding her... "No issues over here; I can continue if everyone else's is ready as well."
Assuming they were, the group moved into the next room, apparently encountering yet another puzzle of sorts. Two cables and an explanation that, just like the previous ones, managed to sound pretty eccentric and not very to the point. But that was part of the fun, she guessed.
"Turning into dust, huh. We'll have to handle these with care; it would be a shame if we ended like spiderman or something." That comment was mostly a joke, even though it had a small measure of seriousness. Knowing some of the beings currently present, some form of reckless behavior would at least be suggested, despite being probably false.
Or at least, that's what the brunette expected! There wasn't much else to say, so Amy drew near, in hopes of inspecting the cables to get more clues regarding this enigma.

"Lunch sounds amazing," Kuu commented, thinking about all the foods that Ravenna mentioned. Ugh, he needed a snack, or three, now! Maybe, they would get lucky and find a lunch room. Of course, even Kuu knew that this was unlikely. And, if they did, there probably wouldn't be anything edible in it!
At least, hunger aside, everything seemed to be going well! The generator was powered, and they would be able to continue on their way!
Clapping his scythe 'hands' together, the Kyukimon seemed plenty enthused. "Let's go! Then lunch!" Oh no. He was going to think about food for the entirety of the mission, wasn't he?
But first! With a flash of light, the pink beast turned to his usual, ferrety, white and purple. In a quick leap, he was already back on Maia's shoulder, and waiting for his free ride to the next room, quietly chanting, "let's go, let's go, let's go," until the Vademon's voice popped up again.
Tilting his head, nose scrunched. "I don't get it," he admitted. And, Maia wasn't even going to try to explain to him what was going on! Maybe, she didn't really know either. "What happened to Spidermon, anyway?" This question was obviously directed to Amy! Of course Kuu didn't know what Spiderman was! But, it was only one letter off from 'mon', so that must have been what she meant!
And it was another thing Maia wasn't going to explain.
Instead, she'd turn to Datamon. He seemed like the type that might be able to figure out a bit of information on this sort of thing, after all! "Do you think it's going to hurt anything if we plug it in the wrong way?" Who knew if it would shock them, or even explode? Or, if connected wrong, perhaps it would just do... nothing!
"We should lick it."
"No. No we shouldn't."
At least Mai would correct Kuu on that!

Ravenna's Psychic Wave charged up the generator past 90%. Datamon's Digital Bomb looked like it would do the trick, but there was still a tiny amount left. Kokabuterimon's Socket Burst finished the job, and the generator is finally charged. The voice of a nightmare inducing creepy Digimon can be heard coming from the speakers. Apparently they had saved some money for Vademon's power bill. Ravenna's eyes widen as the electronics in the room power on. What was next for the group? Is it lunchtime? It was not. In the next room, it appears that they would have to reattach some cables to fix the flow of the electric current. It sounds easy enough to Raye, although the threat of that many volts shocking somebody did cause an upset feeling in Ravenna's oh so empty stomach. In order to reach the other side, a couple of them would have to fly over. It makes Ravenna happy that one of her skills is of use. "Alright, so we plug in both ends of the cables at the same time. Otherwise, we're the ones getting cooked. No pressure, no pressure."
While this room is smaller than the last, it would appear that the group is smaller as well. Ravenna looks around with a puzzled expression on her face. "Wasn't, weren't there more of us or something?"
Best not to get distracted. The thought of food is already enough of a distraction. "Alright. Just tell me which end I should grab, and let's get through this without being electrocuted. Once this is all over, I suggest we go out for some nice spicy curry. And no, we certainly should not lick the cable. I guess Kuu is even more hungry than I am."
Amy made a comment about turning to dust like Spiderman. While Ravenna didn't get it, as she is too ashamed of her nerdy side to fully indulge in superheroes, table top games and the like, Kuu thought Spiderman was Spidermon. Now Ravenna is confused, as she didn't remember Spiderman turning to dust in any of the few superhero movies she had seen, and wonders if she really was talking about Spidermon. "Uh, spiders? I don't remember any spiders around here. Though I think I understand the message: Being vaporized into dust is bad, very bad, spider, or no spider. We should be extra careful."

Surprisingly enough, the generator test proved to be an easily surmountable obstacle, at least compared to the ambush back on the elevator, so things should only go more smoothly from here on out, right?
"Nice. Hope things can be this easy all the way through." Carlos said, clearly just as satisfied with their small victory as the rest of the group, even if technically speaking he himself had done little to nothing to help out with said victory.
"Aaand you probably just jinxed us all." His partner was quick to reply, not too happy about having to go further into this madhouse of a facility but as they said, "beggars can't be choosers".
As the group followed along and wandered into the large room, their eccentric "host" once again chimed in with another prerecorded message, instructing them in their new and slightly more dangerous task involving the plugs and cable in front of them. It didn't exactly seem like the toughest test, but the concequences for failure said otherwise.
Was one million volts as bad for digimon as it was for humans? If Mister Vademon's words were to be trusted, that seemed to be the case. And even if it wasn't, it was unlikely any of the digimon present were willing to put that to the test. Carlos couldn't blame them, he had learned from way too early an age how it felt to get a good shock to your system like that, after an unfortunate accident regarding a fork and a light socket.
Yeah, he hadn't been the brightest kid growing up.
Dio didn't seem particularly thrilled about this particular trial, squinting at the cable with disdain as if the mere thought of having to touch it (let alone lift it) was the biggest insult this facility could have thrown at him. "Hmph, the Dark Lord is above such dumb labor like lifting." Dio declared, simply and bluntly, saying this like it were an indisputable fact of life.
"That's his way of saying he's too weak to lift them." Carlos said sarcastically. "Also that he can't fly." The recording said they needed that much to reach the plug that was closest to the roof, so unless someone carried the impmon all the way up there he would probably be better off handling the lower plug or...giving moral support? If such a thing was possible for the self centered Dio.
Said Impmon chose to ignore Carlos' backhanded comment, but couldn't stay quiet at Kuu's rather silly question.
"She said Spiderman, doofus, not mon." He said as he pinched the bridge of his nose, before turning to the white haired man. "What the hell is a Spiderman at any rate? I wasn't aware you humans could fuse with other species too."
Carlos sighed. Was this really the best time to ask human pop culture related questions? "That's...not how it works, he's a fictional chara- you know, why don't I show you later? After we are finished with this."
With that he'd look down at the cable for a short moment, then at the two plugs on the wall. "We should probably plug these positive side to positive side, negative to negative, right? Just like batteries." He said, his tone carrying a clear hint of doubt, not so much because he didn't believe his own reasoning, but rather as a way of asking the group for opinion.

Datamon considered the situation at hand. There were two cables, four plugs, two low and two high. It seemed that the puzzle was straightforward enough. Furthermore, Carlos's suggestion made sense to him.
"Yes, that's it isn't it? Secure the cables high and low to get a circuit running...".
That they would check, the lower socket at the back of the room was positive and the upper one was negative, the opposite on the other side of the room. From here, Datamon made his hypothesis.
"Very well. Two of us that are able to fly should secure the cable to the upper path, while the other two should secure the lower circuit. And furthermore, we need to synchronize our efforts. So then, if we can all prepare, let us take position for this task".
Only Ravenna seemed to be able to fly currently though. Hopefully some digivolutions would be able to change that.
Once the arrangements were in place as to who would plug which end of the cables into each socket, Datamon would make his countdown. "Alright, here we go. 3... 2... 1... PLUG IN!"

Sorry, but my muse for this thread is at an all-time low and isn't showing any signs of improving. I'll proceed to exit this mission. Good luck! The situation at hand didn't seem all that complicated. The cables were there, and plugging them seemed like an easy task. Even Amelie was hopeful in regards to what was in front of them; jinx or no jinx, getting to it seemed simple enough.
"I'll get one of the negative sockets, no problem over here. Let's get ready!"
Surprisingly, a more elaborate ring of fractal code than the last time formed around Amy's left hand. The result? A way bigger aberration than the one from before. Effortlessly, it picked one of the cables and began ascending while offering the other end to Kuu-
On a quick gesture, the cable would be plugged when the signal was given; would everyone follow suit? In case that happened, the digimon would just seemingly lose its mid-way balance, and apparently stumble downward... just on top of the Reppamon and his tamer. Concerning, even if not by what could be seen at plain sight; the fall hadn't been violent, and the digimon had fallen with relative softness. Then, what was the deal?
It happened in an instant. A small, barely recognizable energy discharge surged through Wimon's body before... suddenly disappearing, alongside the beings that had been under it at that time. Where had they gone?
That was an interesting question. [Exit]

Ravenna had a good question. Weren't they missing someone? Kuu looked around briefly, scrunching his nose. Maybe. Probably. It was almost like the plot wouldn't let him acknowledge it, though. Weird. Everyone else, including Mai, didn't seem to even acknowledge the question! This was like some sort of Twilight Zone stuff right here!
They had to focus on the subject at hand, though! Which was actually pretty difficult, when Kuu lacked many forms with hands! After several moments of debate, and ultimately giving up, the Kudamon decided that birds like Ravenna were better for the skies, and opted for a more grounded, equally handless, form. In a burst of light, the Kudamon was replaced with Reppamon, apparently feeling the need to show off every form he owned. Or, at least, he would if Mai would let him! But, since his tamer wasn't so willing for flashy forms, it seemed he was stuck at Ultimate and below, and he had to face the facts that scythe-handed Kyukimon was the worst 'mon for a job involving electrical cables.
Despite safety hazards, Mai kept close to her partner as he took one end of the cable from Amy's spirit form, trying to balance it between two paws, while hopping to lean over the proper outlet. Sure, she wasn't willing to touch the cable once it was time to plug things in, but for now, she could at least make sure the Reppamon wasn't going to drop anything! And, with the countdown starting, it seemed more important than ever that Kuu actually focus on the task at hand! Or, at paw, as it were!
"Boom!" the Champion shouted, pushing the plug into place. Was he hoping for an explosion or something?! Mai sure hoped not.
But, maybe an explosion wasn't what either of them should worry about. The spirit that floated above them made a sudden shift in stability. Kuu would be the first to notice, Maia soon following his gaze. Granted, this was only enough time for the fox Digimon to state, "that doesn't look--"
And then there was silence.
The two were gone, with the spirit that had swept them away.
[Exit] Sorry for leaving so suddenly. Wishing the rest of you the best on the mission.

Peter Parker and hugging the fourth wall aside, it was time for the missioners to plug in these cables. There should be enough people to plug in all four at the same time. Kuu Digivolves to Reppamon and plugs in one of the cables. Carlos makes a good suggestion, simple but practical. It only makes sense that the ends marked positive would go to the positive outlets, and same for the negative ones. Having come this far, Ravenna isn't going to stop now. This is her first big mission in the Digital World, and a chance for her to prove herself and earn her wings in a way. Wings that she would need. The gothic Shakira lifts up one of the negative cables and flies it over to the upper socket on the other side of the room. Hopefully she wouldn't have too much difficultly plugging it in, unlike anything with a USB connecter. (Thinking) "Come on, work the first time for once, damn it. Not like plugging my flash drive in for college. First it won't go in, then I flip it upside down, and it STILL won't go in, so I flip it again, and now all of a sudden it works?! AAARGH! Damn it! Calm down, gotta focus. I'm dealing with some serious voltage here."
Ravenna inserts the outlet, and a sigh of relief crosses her face, as she brushes a beat of sweat from her brow. She raises her tightly clenched fists up to her chest in celebration and lets out a gleeful "Yay!" Her smile is replaced by a look of confusion when she turns to the group, and doesn't see several of the teammates that were there before. After hovering in midair confused for a moment, Raye gently glides back down and looks around. "Okay, is this part of some security measure? Am I gonna get got next?!"Ravenna's eyes dash from side to side, as she steps back quietly while her teeth begin to chatter. While their mission was coming to an end, she enjoyed the company of the group, and once she calms down, the young track star will be looking forward to more adventures both here in the mysterious areas of the Digital World, as well as the city of Shibuya. The bird brain still has much to prove as a Spirit User, even if it is difficult to juggle schoolwork, track, and playing super heroine. Was this it for now, or did they still have to finish this mission? _________________ (This thread was fun )
