How long have they been in this dungeon? How long has their arduous journey through this maze taken them so far? How many keys found, traps safely avoided (or triggered and barely dodged), how many puzzles solved? Petermon sighs, noting the notch in the stone wall his sword placed there as a marker. It was the third time that they have passed it. He had to admit it, they were lost.
"I-" Petermon began, when the sparkly sprite Tinkermon interrupts for the hundredth time. "Hey, listen! Don't give up! I'm sure it is just a little further!" Easy for her to say, she's able to fly around, not needing to walk. The dungeon was much too small for Petermon to comfortably fly, and it seems that he sets off more traps when trying to.
"Uh-" Once again, Tink interrupts him. "Oh hey! I think I see a puzzle we missed! If you look closely, that one stone in the wall is a sliiightly different color than the rest!"
"Bu-"
"Look! Pete! I think this is it! This must be the way to the boss room and the treasure!"
"Don'-" But it was too late. Tink presses the rock, and sure enough, it slides inwards, but then the floor opens up and the ceiling crashes down, forcing them into the pit. "AAAAAAAaaaaah...!"
Tinkermon opens her eyes after a little rest from being dropped into an abyss. She then notices the unconscious Petermon. She tries everything she can to wake him up, but it doesn't seem to work. "Hey! Heey! HEEEEY!" She shouts in his face, slapping him with tiny hands. "Come on, we are almost there! Don't sleep now... don't... don't leave me..."
He finally stirs, uttering no more then "Guhhh...whhuh..."
"Yes, you're okay! Good, let's go! There's more puzzles! I was right, I did it! Isn't that great? Aren't I a great, useful, wonderful, cute help? There's one of those things that if you hit it with a projectile it opens a door, and over there is a statue that can be pushed! That means-"
"GRAAAAAAAAH!" Petermon has had enough. Enraged beyond words, he throws a dagger past Tinkermon's head, hitting the switch and opening one door. He then punches the statue repeatedly out of anger, opening a second door. A goblin-like creature enters to attack, and is immediately torn to shreds by the furious Petermon's sword. It seems he didn't even consciously know it was there. "AAAARGH! Y- I- We- AGH!"
"Fine," Tinkermon pouts. She summons a tiny spiked spear, applying a liquid coating to it. "If that's how you're gonna treat me, then..." She thrusts the poisoned lance into Petermon. The size is too small to do any real damage, but the poison takes effect immediately. He becomes rigid as his digital muscles contract and become paralyzed. His whole body becomes unable to move, except for toppling to the floor. "If you aren't going to appreciate my help, You're on your own! Stay here for a while and I'll find the treasure and exit myself! Think about me while I'm gone~<3"
Tink takes off down the statue door pathway. "This has to be the right way, I just know it! My super duper instincts can't be wrong!" Her 'super duper instincts' lead her to be slammed into by a spike block trap, crushing her against the wall. "BweeEEee, don't plAy so RoUgH you big meAnIe~" It takes a few seconds, but she manages to shake the daze off as the block retreats. She's seen this type of trap in here already. It isn't hard to avoid, but her carelessness got the better of her. Not again, however . She quickly moves out of the way as she is prepared for when it repeats the action. "Not this time, you dumb trap! Nyeh!" She sticks her tongue out and continues, only to be pelted by a flying bone.
"Ow! Who- wait... another Stalfosmon, right?" Not good. Her attacks are weak, and the poison doesn't affect the skeletal enemies. She flies around in a panic, getting hit by bones from the pursuing Stalfosmon, blue flaming skulls, and bats. She manages to take out the bats, and the fire from the skulls only seems to prevent her from attacking, but that Stalfosmon is becoming a problem. She lands, exhausted, though smirking. She quickly jumps to the left, barely dodging the spike trap that hit her on the way in, as it collides with the skeleton, sending it into a pile of bones... and a big key.
"Yes! I did it! Wait until Pete sees that I found a key all by myself! Bet he'll be both proud and jealous, an- oh..." Terrible images flash through her head. What if enemies attacked him while he was paralyzed? What if he gone on ahead through the other path, but was too weak from the poison to survive the traps? What if Tink had gotten him killed?
She slowly drags the key out of the room, only to find Petermon was nowhere to be found. Had he gone on ahead? She uses all her effort to pull the key along, through room after room that the Petermon seems to have already cleared. Puzzles solved, enemies defeated, loot gotten. He stands at a huge locked door, ready to face the boss, but without a key...
"Ah!" Petermon spies the Tinkermon collapsed with the key to the door. He rushes over to her to make sure she's all right. The poison had mostly worn off, but it still seems to affect his vocal chords. However, his actions show his feelings, as he cuddles and guards Tink closely.
"I'm back," Tink weakly yet joyfully exclaims. "And I got you the key! Now we can go in an fight the boss!" Petermon shakes his head and pulls out a magic mirror. Suddenly, they are at the entrance of the dungeon. "But why...?" But Tink already knows. He'd rather see to her safety than risk her life to get the treasure. And that's why she'll never truly abandon him.
