Right, that was a bit of difficulty they hadn't considered on the surface - how were they all supposed to talk to each-other? It was easy enough for them to maneuver around - even more-so as Mikemon got used to the weight of the scuba gear - but the sudden silence surrounding the three was just a touch jarring.
Well, they'd get used to it: looking over at the hole that Carlos pointed out, the cat moved in closer. This wasn't just a natural eroded wall in the tower, either, but a stable and well-built stone circle. More curious was the fact that it seemed to be constructed after the tower's original design, bringing in more local material compared to the ancient rock that made up the base.
Was this place still inhabited? Quickly slipping inside, that answer became apparent: there was an entire underwater complex sprawled out before them, with lanterns casting light over what would be an otherwise dark expanse. Various aquatic Digimon passed by, sharing light news with each-other, moving from place to place. Heck, it looked a bit like Whitewater!
Noticing this, the Mikemon couldn't help but smirk: pushing inside and away from the wall, he simply let himself fall in the water, feet landing on the stone path below. Well, this was an aquatic city - might as well check this place out first! He turned to face Carlos, flicking off his own flashlight as he pointed over his shoulder.
Maybe they could buy something here that would solve their communication problem?

Titania had been doing her best to keep watch while Naoko had tried to keep up with Yuki. So far, so good, as they had both been doing their jobs. "...Hey, Toriya, Mizu, Yukiko, wanna go check that rock over there out?" The false monarch of a fairy pointed out that mossy rock, before moving to point at that skyscraper. "...Or there? Both of those...Seem pretty much like they -want- to be explored."
"Yeah, but...um...d-don't we need to be careful?" "Why, yes, caution is supposed to be exercised sometimes...But I wanna meet the marine Digimon already and I'm also getting a little bored already...No offense to you two. You're awesome. Ten Titania-bucks!"
"...Ti-...What? A-Anyways, Yukiko, rock or skyscraper?" Depending on what the girl decided, Naoko got ready to start swimming towards whichever Mizu and her tamer decided to go to. She also hoped this didn't become a big conversation. Talking to people was by -far- her biggest weakness.

Carlos had to give credit to this digital world. No matter the weird curveballs it threw at him and no matter how much he thought he was getting used to it, the place always found a new way to surprise him. He had a certain idea of what to expect once he had signed up for this expedition. He expected to find underwater ruins, a coral reef with some assorted digital wildlife, maybe even a sunken ship if they were lucky.
But an underwater city? An inhabited one at that? Neither he nor Dio were expecting to find such a thing, that’s for sure.
Following closely behind the Mikemon the duo let the cat take point, rather slowly walking along the stone street, the light of the street lanterns illuminating their vicinity. Plenty more similar looking lights were strewn on the distance.
If this place was as big as it looked, they were going to be looking around for a good while. Hopefully the locals wouldn’t mind the presence of surface dwellers. Especially considering how unfit all of them (besides Mizu of course) were for underwater confrontation.

Before cat and demon keeper laid a street, narrow, with shops to either side. It resembled the crowded streets of Asakusa, with their antiquated architecture and small, rustic shops as opposed to the large chain stores of Shibuya! Various aquatic Digimon were conducting business, exchanging bits for goods, which ranged from pottery and jewelry to simple foods and even books, which seemed absolutely bizarre considering they were under water! In the distance, a Depthmon threw a Rukamon out onto the street from a little ramen bar, over there an Archelomon was cutting a vegetable resembling a cross between a radish and a tuna fish into small bits with its blade fins! There was much to see here!
Yukiko thought hard. Going directly to the rock opened possibilities of meeting Aquatic Digimon en masse, but also carried the risk of social interaction, while the skyscraper certainly would shed light on the civilization of this place, but might lead to problems with people thinking they're trespassing... In the end, she made a decision. "L-l-l-let's go to the rock, m-m-m-maybe the locals can help you learn more!" "Aye aye, captain!~", the cheerful Seadramon said before setting a course for the rock. Even as they approached they could spot a lot of different Digimon species. Digimon swimming around the rock, having a picnic on top of it, an Orcamon and a Ganimon playing Shogi on a set of three rocks which resembled a table and two seats, and a Gesomon watching over everything. So much to see here, where to even start!

Oh thank goodness - a shopping center!
Carlos' concerns regarding this underwater city were well-founded, at least until they saw this place. As soon as Mikemon saw Digimon exchanging bits and bit cards in this underwater market, the feline knew that this place already had connection with the outside world. Rather than intruders, the three would be treated as tourists - and if that was the case, it would be much easier for them to operate.
But first things first, Mikemon intended to take advantage of this market! He gave a wave to a nearby Divermon, who quickly kicked over in their direction. "Oi? What's up?" Ugh - all the Mikemon could do was signal in response - but it wasn't too hard. Tapping at his mouthpiece and pointing his fingers slightly out, the Divermon gave a nod. "Ah... second left. They'll top off your air if ya need it, too."
Alright, operation successful there! Once more motioning for Carlos to follow, the three could easily make their way into the market, hang a left, and bingo - scuba gear, galore! This definitely didn't fit the 'ancient architecture' motif, but a few hand gestures and an exchanged bit card later, and a careful adjustment to that gear?
"Ugh, finally." His voice sounded a bit robotic, through the mid-quality speaker, but it worked! "You two hanging alright?"

In the end, the incredibly distracting and somehow even shyer member of the duo had chosen the rock. Seeing as they were going to likely get there way faster than Titania and Naoko could manage on their own, Naoko swam over to Mizu and held onto her neck. "Ready." Man, her hoodie was gonna need a round in the washer after this...
Once they had gotten to the rock proper, Titania glanced around, before poking at Naoko's neck with a claw. "Psst. See the squid guy? He's just sitting there watching."
"Please don't make me go talk to him."
"But Naoko. You should go talk to h-" Titania was cut off by Naoko just letting out a defeated sigh. "But you know I can't tal-...Bah, n-nevermind..." She tempered her dignity and let go of Mizu's neck, before swimming towards the Gesomon. "Uh...Hi, sir!"

While the doctor was the one to handle the communications with the locals, it was clear he wasn’t any better versed on the art of sign language as anyone else. Still, it was more than enough to get themselves some better equipment to facilitate communication. Clearly the digimon living here were more than prepared to have visitors, judging by the whole store completely dedicated to selling functioning scuba gear. After some (rather tense) moments, the trio of explorers was now suited up with the new equipment.
“Finally indeed! I thought I’d never hear my beautiful voice again!” Dio was obviously the first one to talk, happy about not being forcefully silenced anymore. While it was hard to see because of the water and the gear, it was very easy to tell Carlos rolled his eyes upon hearing that. The disgruntled sigh certainly gave that away too.
“Joy.” The man quipped, sarcastically, turning to the Mikemon with a thumb up. “Just fine here Doc. Maybe slightly hotter than expected, but I’ll manage.” That latter part was a bit surprising to him, even knowing they were in a relatively warm sea. Maybe the city was built close to some underwater magma tunnels or something? Regardless, there was time for speculation later. Now that they could communicate, things should a lot easier for everyone.
“So I guess we should look around now and scan some stuff, right?” He said, glancing at their lively surroundings. This place was practically begging to be explored.

It was a smidgen bizarre, to see such a busy and industrious street under water, especially in a city that has been submerged and lost for centuries. Yet, it was teeming with life. Some houses did stand empty, so there was still mystery to explore. On the one side, the two could see a tall, empty building with a sign saying "Elysian Library" on it. The sign was worn and overgrown with algae, clearly this was an old library, but perhaps some books remained. On the other side was a long alleyway, dark and twisted, but potentially hiding treasures in some older, forgotten part of town! In the distance, a Rukamon followed the two explorers, quite curious about the two!
Once they had reached the rock, Mizu de-digivolved back to Betamon and landed next to her tamer. "Oy, quite the busy rock here!" Yukiko nodded. "Y-y-y-y-yeah! So much to see, and s-s-so many Digimon to scan. G-g-guess we hit pay dirt early..."
The Gesomon turned towards Naoko when she talked to him. The squid Digimon gave her a suspicious glance, which was impressive considering he had no yes, then he patted his baton against his open tentacle palm. "Oy! Who're you? You here to cause trouble? Ya better not! I'm part of the police here!" He then proudly pointed his baton at the golden star saying "警察" on it. Yukiko rushed to Naoko's side. "A-a-a-ah! No sir, w-w-w-we're just researchers!" The Gesomon turned to Yuki, then back to Naoko. "That true, young lady?"

Well, check one - Dio was fine. Somehow, it 'fit' to Mikemon that the Impmon would like to hear the sound of his own voice - and though the doctor couldn't see it, he could 'feel' that eyeroll brimming on Carlos' expression.
Well, either way: everyone was suited up, the air was topped off, they could speak, and they had an underwater city to explore! Leading the way out of the store, Mikemon simply gave a nod. "Honestly, the biggest part of this is going to be mapping the place." Tapping the device held at his gear's belt - that scanner silently making a map of the area - the cat mulled over their options.
"Honestly, this is going to be a bit hit and miss. But if we're taking it step by step, since we're already here, we may as well knock out seven Digimon scans?" In this dense of a city, it couldn't be that hard to pull off. The most awkward part would be simply asking people to be scanned by the device.
On the beach before with Carlos, it was easy: simply scan the patients. Here, though, how would they even go about asking?
The cat had an idea: "Maybe we just take 'pictures' from above?"

Naoko felt like she got put on the spot. Whatever she said next was -really- important in constructing the vital first impression that people seem to treasure so dearly...
...She sort of regretted this. Heck, she regretted this whole expedition. "Uh...Yes. My f-friend here's correct. Neither of us or our partners want to cause trouble in the slightest, sir. Um...We're actually here to learn about this area and it's denizens, so any h-help with that would be most appreciated..."
Apart from an occasional stammer and constant fidgeting, Naoko managed to get her words out there. Titania felt a smidge of pride starting to creep across her face. "Spoken like a true vassal."

So they had a somewhat clear objective (or at least a general idea) of how to proceed. The mapping out should be easy enough thanks to their scanners doing most of the work for them, though it would take some time to complete. The actual scanning of the residents though, that was a bit harder. This wasn’t like that day on the beach, they didn’t have predisposed patients.
How were they supposed to do it in a timely fashion? Just walk up to random digimon and ask them for permission to be scanned? That could get awkward, better to do take the doctor’s “subtler” approach, taking photographs from above. Glancing at their surroundings for a bit, the man’s eyes soon found themselves drawn to a rather tall structure no too far from them, its algae filled sign above the large doors simply said “Elysian Library”. Either they didn’t care for cleaning up down here, or the place was still very much abandoned.
“Well, that place looks like good vantage point from where to scan from, doesn’t it?” The man commented, pointing at the roof. One of the few perks of being underwater? Getting to the top of buildings and the like would be fairly easy, they wouldn’t even need ladders.
“Plus it’s a library, maybe we can get something worthwhile from inside too.” Well, there would be if anything had managed to survive underwater this long, at least. Regardless, before Carlos could start making his way to the building he found himself interrupted by a voice calling out in annoyance. Dio’s voice to be exact.
“Hey! Just what are you looking at?” The imp said with sheer annoyance and prepotency in his voice, glaring at a Rukamon that was swimming by in the distance. From the looks of it (or at least the Impmon seemed to think that way) the dolphin like digimon was swimming after them, seemingly following them around, much to Dio’s annoyance.
“Dio, would you stop trying to get us into trouble?” Carlos said, shaking his head a bit as he turned to face Mikemon. “Well, might as well ask them for a scan while we’re at it?”

The Rukamon flinched when Dio pointed it out. It looked left and right nervously. "E-e-e-e-eh? Me? ooooooh! I jus', I jus', I thinks yous lookin' fun, like fun friends, hehehehehe!" It gave a wide toothy grin. "I wuz wonderin' where yous goin', is all! Is biiiiig place here, after all!" It looked between the library and the alley. "They's both good places to look through!" Whoever this Rukamon was, it seemed nice enough!
The eyeless gaze of the Gesomon remained on Naoko, then it smiled at her. This was probably meant to be reassuring, but with its toothy maw it looked, frankly, unsettling. It patted her head with one tentacle. "Alrighty, good, good! Don't wanna have any trouble on my turf! Got enough trouble down there anyway!" He pointed his baton down at the city. "This place up here is the rock garden, a popular sparetime location!" The Gesomon then looked over Mizu and Yukiko. "So! Scientists, eh? That's cool! Whatcha researching Elysium for?"

Well, Carlos came up with a good idea right off the bat - use the top of the buildings! "Huh - I was just going to suggest we tread water from above, but that'll save us quite a bit of energy. And its a Libary, so the traffic should be relatively high."
Alright, that would work - and by another stroke of luck, they might have a chance to view something about relics inside! Though, it took the cat aback for a moment: "Honestly, I just want to know what those kinds of books look like at all. I wonder how they can read anything 'written' underwater." The scuba place used entirely digital displays and metal coins, after all - certainly 'paper' and 'cloth' wouldn't work all that well down here?
Well, a thought for another time - Dio was being a bit short-tempered! Honestly, though, this worked to Mikemon's advantage: as Carlos moved to scold his partner, and as the Rukamon seemed more interested in the conversation, Mikemon simply floated several floors up - and held that familiar red sphere in his left palm.
Just those few yards up, out of range of the Rukamon, Mikemon gave that first scan - if it would all go well, Carlos - and the rest of the gang - would get a vibration from their own devices, confirming and logging the first hit!

Okay, so Naoko's complete ineptitude at being any kind of social didn't jeopardize anything. Though, in all hindsight she did do better than she had thought. So, this was the rock garden. It seemed like a park of sorts...
And it sounded like one, too. "Well...yes, we're researchers. At least, my...highly athletic friend and her graceful dragon here are. We came here to learn about the Sunken Elysium after it surfaced...Oh, uh. I'm Toriya Naoko and my Tinkermon here's Titania." Yuki and Mizu were more than capable of introducing themselves, though Naoko did feel like she was sparing Yukiko some agony by shouldering all the socializing for her. Titania, meanwhile, decided to ask another question. "So...Gesomon, where do people tend to live around here?"

Despite the fact the Rukamon answered Dio’s inquiry politely despite the imp’s tone; it was still not enough for the Dark Lord, who would squint at the dolphin."Oh yeah? Is that so?" Acting all innocent and such, who did he think he was fooling? Certainly not Dio.
"We'll see about that..." Clearly still annoyed by this sudden “intrusion”, the imp took a menacing step forward, fist glowing ever so slightly with energy, eyes flashing with evil intent, though if anyone would be able to see that under all the scuba gear was a different matter all together. His body language made it obvious enough for Carlos to try to stop him at least.
“Dio, stop-“ but it was too late, as the imp was already swinging his glowing arm in the general direction of the dolphin like digimon…
…yet much to his surprise, nothing happened. No fiery explosion, no ball of flames, not even a small bubble. Dio shot a surprised look at his hand, cursing something under his breath.
Right, using fire while underwater was not an easy task, especially for a rookie like himself, so no wonder he had failed to produce even a small amount of harmless heat. With a huff he turned himself around. "Whatever, you do you, just....don't be a nuisance." With that he swam to the roof of the building, sitting by the cat’s side, not even saying anything else to help save some face.
Meanwhile Carlos would be apologizing at the Rukamon. “So sorry about that! He’s…got some anger management problems, to say the least.” Well, at the very least it seemed the good Doctor was already taking care of the scanning, if the vibration coming from their built in scanners was of any indication. One down, who knew how many to go. He gave a thumps up in the other two's general direction, before looking at the Rukamon yet again. “Look, if you want tp you can maybe show us inside the library in a bit after we’re finished our scanning? That’d be great.” After all, more help to get even more research material was always welcome, especially if it meant they’d have to work less for it.
