[[OOC: Bits by the by plz!]]
Most of the Dark Area is regarded in scrutiny by the rest of the Digital World, seen as a terrifying land from which the damned and darkest of Digimon lurk and unrepressed evil runs rampant. While certainly one of the harshest environments in the Digital World, it is not without its own lights amid the dreary darkness.
The city of Cryptwell to some is a beacon that not all that is dark is evil. The first thing to immediately catch one's eye is the city's ancient architecture, built upon what was once thought to be the site of a fortress (spanning dozens of miles wide all around) once under the control of the demonic warlords that once ruled these lands. Once a tool for conquest, this massive fortress has become a spot of respite to those facing the grueling hardships of the Dark Area. However, its tall castle walls and guards do not always take kindly to newcomers... After all, when one has situated themselves in the equivalent of Digital World Hell, you can afford to be a bit overly cautious. Flying Nightmare Soldiers family Digimon such as Gargoylemon and Devidramon tend to patrol the skies (aiming to question, and if deemed a problem... destroy unfamiliar individuals) of Cryptwell, whereas foot soldiers like Chessmon family Digimon or Troopmon guard the circumference of the city. While a harsh (and occasionally quite unfair) bunch, the city's defenses are unparalleled because of its extensive military force. There is negative bias towards Angelic Digimon or "goody-two-shoes" at times, but bits/displays of power are always regarded as a solve-all solution in case of picky guards.
Within the walls of this city lies a diverse set of architecture that is highly unique to the Digital World. Compared to the modern or technologically-advanced cities of Terminus City or Whitewater City, Cryptwell takes a page out of the neo-Gothic movement, with brick and mortar streets and buildings dominating the landscape. Lighting up the gloomy streets are huge candle-lit lampposts or the lights of homes or stores.
Cryptwell's districts are primarily divided into seven circular districts, one for each of the Demon Lords. As you travel to the center of the city, the structures you may become more intricate, the gaps of wealth becoming more well-known.
1. Gluttony - The outermost district (and also second largest) of Cryptwell and where generally the working-class and poor lie. Thievery and crime are especially rampant here due to it having the poorest conditions among the circles, but there is also a strong sense of kinsmanship among its inhabitants. Shops and inns are a common staple in the Gluttony District, though watch where you lurk at night if you value your possessions.
2. Envy -
The largest district, it is built underneath that of Gluttony, accessible through the dank, partially submerged catacombs of the city. While dark and dreary, Envy is the perfect place for those wishing to stray out of the public eye, making it a hive for shady business practices. If there is information or an item you cannot find up top, you are bound to find it here. The underground passageways allow for easy travel through the city, but it is also the least regulated by the city patrol, and so forth is also one of the most dangerous.
3. Wrath - A non-residential district that contains the majority of the city's military force. Most people are advised to simply move on to any of the other districts without a good reason to many of the city's soldiers having somewhat sharp temperaments. The city's prisons are located here, and depending on the harshness of one's crime can vary from "mildly inconvenient" to "Hell incarnate". Needless to say, do not interfere in their work... or give them a reason to eye you.
4. Lust - Sharing the same overall region as Greed, but in southern-central parts of the city, the Lust district is a mix bag. A mid-class district, it is known for its wonderous art and spine-tingling performances in theatre... it is however not called the Lust district without reason. Commonly nicknamed "Rule 34", one particular row of shops cater to deviance and the glorification of one's own beauty beyond that of what some may call "in good taste". However, a spiritual side exists to the Lust district as it is also where most churches are found... admittingly praising the Demon Lords, but hey whatever floats one's fancy is fine down here. Overall, it is one of the most peaceful districts despite its faults.
5. Greed - Lust's sister district, located in northern-central Cryptwell. More upper-class than Lust, but less so than Pride, Greed is a very luxury district that could be worthy to call "the nicest place in the Dark Area". A highly VIP area, not just anyone is allowed to live here... not without emptying their pockets. Alongside fancy restaurants, stores, and auctions for rare and valuable items, this is where the city's banks are found. It, however, is also one of the most well-guarded areas in the city, so keep your mischief making to an all-time low if you visit the Greed district... less you will be quickly earning an (especially painful) trip to the Wrath district.
6. Sloth - Underneath the Greed and Lust lies the Sloth district... but this not a place you'd want to live in. The Sloth district is a continuation of the Envy district, but far less unexplored by the denizens of Cryptwell. A series of abandoned catacombs once thought to have been a resting place for the dead... now it is little more but a hazardous maze that even the hardiest of denizens of Cryptwell refuse to go near. Rumors say the data of deceased Digimon are tied forever down to these cursed grounds, bitterly attacking the living out of retaliation for being denied an eternal sleep. Would-be spelunkers aiming to explore these tombs, beware.
7. Pride - The Pride district is at the heart of Cryptwell, and is where aristocrats and the rich tend to gather. Extravagant festivals are held near weekly, but getting into these events is not as easy as just showing up for them... often one needs an invitation (bought or invited by another) to even come near. Needless to say, guards do not tend to enjoy seeing trespassers and will attempt to escort any out if they catch a glimpse of any suspicious individuals who may or may be aiming to snag some gourmet food. At the center of the Pride District is the Castle of Sins, where officials regulate the rules and inner-workings of the city. It is considered an absolute honor to even enter the castle.
Overall despite the area's shady nature due to it being a location of the Dark Area, many happily live in Cryptwell (and occasionally the city even receives tourists despite the hostile nature of the environment around it). If one has found themselves in the Dark Area, rushing to Cryptwell is always able to be considered a smart option overall.
