Amelie's joke may not have been one of those 'haha' type of jokes, but Rinji smiled anyway. "How about I invite her over text to join us after we set off? I'm sure she'd come. She's like an adventurer herself," he suggested. Coolmon was definitely the adventurous type.
Thankfully it seemed someone else had been looking out for Amelie while he wasn't around. "I still wouldn't mind going to the human world again. I'll have a disguise this time and I'll know the way back." He laughed awkwardly at Amelie's interest in what his holoform. "Well, it's really just what I'd look like if I were a human, I guess. My model scanned me before it configured it."
"Oh! I promise you won't be a third wheel if Coolmon does come. " He did really like Coolmon, but there was no way he'd leave Amelie feeling left out. They'd be a good team, he'd make sure of that. No leaving anyone out.
"Right, the scab. It'll probably fall off if we don't remove it anyway," he winced. It came off almost like soggy paper, bringing with it a few drops of fresh blood. The wound re-coagulated fast enough not to be a problem, although it stinged.
So that was that. Safe to say that Rinji was unaware of Amelie's hair plight, having no real equivalent. It was one of those things he'd only noticed if it went wrong. Like someone who's forgotten their glasses.
Stepping out of the shower, the Scolomon allowed Amelie to redress the wound. "You're pretty good at wrapping bandages," he commented as she finished the wrap. To be fair, if it were the other way around, he'd be winging it and hoping for the best. He still felt bad about Amelie's own bite wound, but she hadn't mentioned it lately. And if she didn't want to mention it, he wouldn't remind her about it.
"Nope, I think that's it. I'm exhausted. The steam from the shower kinda makes you sleepy, doesn't it?" He was definitely in the mood for just flopping onto the bed. With a quick wipe down using a towel, his exoskeleton was dry. "Yeah, I think I'm gonna hit the hay for now."
Rinji wandered out from the bathroom and went to turn the bedside lamp on and the main lights off. With that done, he sighed and went to stand by his side of the bed. He wriggled under the sheets and let his head rest on the pillow like a dog. It was a bit of an awkward position to be seen in, but he was dead tired and waiting for Amelie.
