"You know, I'm blaming you two for this one."
Blame the twins for what, you may ask? Well, it had started with their ever so brilliant idea to bring Talia the digital world. "You've showed us so much of human culture!" they said. "It'll be fun!" they said. "Now let us show you our home!" And like a fool the blonde believed it to be a great idea, even packing several provisions and snacks for sustenance during their trip.
She'd imagined many times over what the land would look like during the train ride over, wondering if it would some sort of pixelated wasteland or something else altogether - upon their arrival she was pleasantly surprised to see a jungle not unlike the kinds that were on their earth. "Well, what did you expect, Rainbow Road?" Hmmm, maybe it was time to start putting time limits on those gaming sessions, Talia was starting to get sick of Tohru using them in her snark. "Please, reality is always much better than anything you can make with a program!" Holding a basket as she spoke, Simba sniffed the wicker, pushing up his head, the scent of deviled eggs and sandwiches filling his olfactory senses. "Ah ah! Not yet." The dragon sunk back down, muttering an 'awww but I'm starving' under his breath, but nonetheless followed his sister and human into the jungle.
"Be careful Talia! There's sometimes insect digimon that hang around here." The blonde chuckled as the two jumped in front of her, trying to imagine them fighting off some giant insect. Unfortunately, she'd thought too soon, as a few greedy Dokunemon had smelled the goodies in her basket and came to investigate, watching a bit from some tall grass first. Cowardly by nature, these green caterpillars would never attack something potentially bigger and stronger than them but they would absolutely scare away some digital world newbies and take that delicious food all for themselves. "Alright, lead the way!" It was interesting to see how different the two of them acted here, as if they were right in their environment - vacuums terrified them but the prospect of fighting off what could possibly be a deadly bug. Granted, that admiration didn't last long as the two started arguing over whether to go left or right. "You know, going straight would probably be best."
The new voice made all three of them turn to watch as the insects slithered into sight, their venomous clicking clinchers making the twins go on high alert - well, Tohru anyway - Simba had never really been a fan of things that were creepy crawly and so resorted to trembling behind the legs of his human. "What do you guys want?!" Tiny Tohru stood in a fight stance, pushing out her arms and ears as if to shield Talia, who wasn't quite sure how to react yet, being curious from a scientific point about the insects but knowing they were potentially dangerous too. "Oh nothing, just whatever yummies are in that basket, wanna share it?" Ah yes, gluttonous local wildlife, even the digital world had it - unfortunately these guys were a bit dangerous than your standard french fry stealing seagulls. "Well you can't have it, or else my brother and I will - Simbaaaa, a little help here?" The Dokunemon snickered at the cowering dragon, who only seemed to hide further behind Talia. "Awww, does the little dragon want his mommy?" "Give him a bottle!"
Between the digimon teasing her brother and the bunny's strong embarrassment at his rather cowardly behavior, Tohru had just about had enough. "Leave us be now, and I won't have to get violent." There was a new tone to her voice, one even Talia had never heard before that seemed to warn the harassers that her threshold of patience was dropping fast. Click click went their purple clinchers again, the noise making Talia's skin crawl. "Counteroffer, you leave that basket right here for us, and we won't poison your human." And with that, the vein forming in the corner of Tohru's head exponentially grew. "Y-you jerks! Blazing ice!!" While the Dokunemon were temporarily detained by the attacks the three of them took off into the woods attempting to get as far as possible. "Run!!!" Holding the basket in one hand, the blonde held Simba in the other with Tohru on her shoulder until all of them made it to a far away clearing seemingly far from the insects. "Simba what were you thinking?! You're supposed to help me protect Talia, she could have gotten hurt, all because of your selfishness!"
"I..I..I didn't meant to be...I just...hey I'm not selfish, how dare you call me that!" Oh great, now they were arguing. Talia had attempted to stroke the dragon as a way of calming him down but "You mean what, coward?" The smugness in her voice pushed Simba over the edge, the dragon tackling his sister as they rolled in the grass batting at one another like two puppies, except this was way less cute. "Get off me!" "You started it!" What in the world, ugh, did they really need to be fighting at a time like this?! "And I'm ending it!" Talia cut it, grabbing the dragon by his tail and the bunny by an ear, holding their wriggling forms away from each other. "Let us go Talia! I need to show sis I'm not a wimp." Yikes, was this what parenthood was like? "I think you both need to cool down, now Tohru, you sit in that corner, Simba you go in that one, and I'll set up lunch. And I want you both to reflect on your actions." Oh god, she'd become her mother. "Also, for every time you try to leave your designated corner, thats another deviled egg for me."

"Hey, Amy. Psssst." Talking during class was probably not the greatest idea, especially when the professor was Mrs. Tanaka. Yet, Kanae decided that was a magnificent idea. "Can you hear me? I need to tell you something. It's important."
Trying to ignore those hushed whispers was a lost cause; true, Kanae was her friend, but she definitely could get annoying at times. Especially during class.
"What do you want?" She tried to keep her voice low, but doing that and trying to pay attention in order to take notes about the equation in the blackboard was getting a just a little difficult.
"Can you lend me a, uhhh... well, you know?" Hearing the teenager's slightly embarrassed words was a rare treat. The brunette gazed at her for a moment, and that's when she realized how pressing was the situation. Why hadn't she brought spares? Well, it wasn't like the answer was hard to guess. The raven-haired woman was as scatterbrained as they came.
"You mean... now?" The slight blush on Amelie's cheeks was a minor event in comparison to the next rare treat; Kanae's 'No. Shit. Sherlock.' expression; the urgency on her face was pretty telling of her inconvenient, and trying to hold it for the half-an-hour or so that the class had left was probably not the smartest proposition.
"Well... Yes?"
Amelie nodded right away. And hoped that being a good friend was a more valuable skill than learning Boolean functions. At least for the time being. And, just like that, she woke up on Mainframe Hills. A loud groan ensued as Amy began to rub the sleepiness out of her face.
"Not againnnn." The brunette muttered to herself in exasperation; this kinda event was getting old, but there wasn't much she could do about them. She knew what was the deal by now; utterly lost, and probably in a random place of the Digital World. The lush vegetation at least told her that this place would be more or less nice to her, at least when compared to... the Desert, or the Tundra. Just remembering those made her shake her head. Hopefully never again.
She began to rise, her senses slowly becoming more aware of her surroundings. Now... to take a wild guess about where the nearest settlement could be.
Now, don't get her wrong; Amy wasn't a fan of walking aimlessly, but what other choice did she have? It was either that or waiting until someone took pity on her. She definitely preferred the first choice and so... she began walking.
Probably fifteen or so minutes afterward into her journey, she caught the sight of a small clearing, some figures not far from there; considering that, thus far, she hadn't been very lucky at finding someone capable of providing directions, that made her feel a surge of relief. Maybe they'd be able to help?
Not losing time, she approached, waving at the group as if to make her presence obvious; it'd be pretty awkward if they thought she was stalking them or something. Once she closed the distance, the teenager would finally speak, even if her voice sounded a little out of breath.
"Hey~." Was her greeting of choice, accompanied with a friendlier wave. "Do you happen to know where Terminus or... the closest city is? I think I'm a little lost."
Almost as if carefully planned, and probably due to the smell of the delicious food, her stomach whined right away, prompting Amelie's cheeks to flare beet red. "Uhhh. Sorry; don't mind me."

High in the sky (in fact so high her shadow didn't reflect on the ground) a hovering legless form with a serpentine form watched the group curiously as its long tailed swayed in the air, the dragon having been watching the group since they ran from the dokunemon, something the dragon had considered saving them from but opted to back out when she saw the lopmon had it under control - in fact that was what made Megidramon curious about the group, as she sensed the rabbit had bits of dragon data, a deduction which was most inquisitive since Lopmon were well...usually all Lopmon. For the time being she'd simply continue to observe - used to people and digimon fearing her by default, the dragon had long ago learned it was often better to remain in the shadows in these situations.
In fact since she had her back turned setting up the picnic blanket Talia didn't even see the hovering dragon and as for the twins, they were far too busy being sour towards one another to notice anything else, not even the mysterious girl who approached them. "CIVILIZATION! I mean uhh hi how are you?" For whatever reason the blonde was taken aback to seeing another human here as if the trio had been stuck alone on an island for 500 years with no company but eachother - had they really been walking THAT long? "I wish I could tell you but this is my first visit to the digital world. Those -"
She pointed to a salty looking Simba, the hackmon sitting with his chin under his paws side eyeing his sister, and then to Tohru, who sat with her arms crossed. "are my partners, they aren't really speaking right now but they'll get it over it eventually - you know siblings, they're best pals one minute and arch rivals the next. We had a bit of a run in with some mean insect digimon back there, Dokunemon they were called." Thank god bugs didn't get that big in the human world, ugh - or at least weren't anymore, but according to some entomologists, that could very well change if the oxygen levels in earth altered, yeesh. She chuckled as the girl's stomach growled, unable to help but sympathize with her. "If you're not in a rush, would you be up for joining us for lunch?" Besides if they had a guest, the twins would be more inclined to behave.
Lunch, now there was a word that was able to pull both Simba and Tohru from their salt - in fact when they did, they accidentally made eye contact and for a moment both quickly seemed to soft up but quickly went back to pouting, the big dragon in the sky watching with a sort of maternal amusement. While Talia was setting things up, her digivice made an odd noise similar to the one it had when the twins evolved from baby to rookie, the screen reading in big letters, 'Digimental Detected', with a pointing arrow. "Huh, you wouldn't by any chance know a 'digimental' is do you? I'm Talia by the way, sorry whats your name?"

The flurry of reactions that Amelie got in an instant was completely unexpected. If anything, the blonde woman next to her seemed to be frantic and happy at the same time? And worried. And friendly, too! It was a bit... confusing.
So, instead, the brunette decided to listen attentively to what the woman who would later introduce herself as Talia would say. And her mind, began to respond to the questions asked as soon as she got a window to do so.
"I'm fine, I think. I kinda... don't even know how I reached this place, frankly. First visit, though? Welcome! I may not be a native, but I can say that this world is pretty interesting." Yup, that was true enough! No need to mention the less than savory details. She then looked at the digimons, and while she recognized their appearances to an extent, she wasn't sure about their species' names. "Well, ain't they an interesting duo? I guess that fighting that much means they are just inseparable, aren't they?"
It kinda reminded her of her sisters and even of the relationship that she had with them. That was... really enjoyable, wasn't it? Even if that could grate on her parents' nerves at times. But it wasn't her fault being a kid, was it? Maybe if she hadn't been spoiled rotten... Oh right; anyhow! Lunch was a delightful idea! "Ummm. I don't know if I'm interrupting something that should be private, but... It'd be my pleasure otherwise."
If she got another positive response, she'd proceed to sit on the floor and gaze at the two digimon with a small smile. They were a pair of cuties in their own way, weren't they? "Why did you begin to argue?" The brunette couldn't resist asking. "Back when I was younger, I used to argue a lot with my older brother. He insisted on getting out a pair big scissors every now and then and threaten to cut my hair if I didn't buy him sweets when he wanted. Those were the good times."
Memory lane was probably going to take the sidelines at most, though. Talia's own questions took a bit of a priority on her head. Welllllll. "I think a Digimental is like, what some digimons use to evolve when there's a Control Spire nearby?" Amy shook her head at the first explanation; probably too fast. "I guess it'd be better if you told me what do you know about digimons evolving. It'd be easy to explain it that way."
Right, right; introductions. She had completely forgotten about them. "Pleasure to meet you, Talia and... Talias' partners, I guess? Name's Amelie. Hope we can be friends!"

"Basically! I have yet to see them be separated but have a feeling they'd be lost without the other, Simba would be anyway." Was he a bit of a childish fraidy cat? Absolutely, and yet the reason she'd named him Simba was because the girl could see his potential for blossoming from a cub into a strong and courageous soul, and she'd be here for every step of the way. She know Tohru meant well but there were times when she wished the hare would have more patience with her brother - perhaps it was time to have some conversations with them later, separately of course, mostly pep talks about gumption and patience, nothing too heart to heart of course since talking about feelings wasn't really Talia's style. "Tohru acts like she could be on her own but I think she'd get lonely fast - she's too extroverted."
She waved off Amelie's concerns, reassuring the girl she was welcome. "Nothing like that, it was just Simba tends to scare easily sometimes and Tohru can be a bit close mind about her expectations of others - basically, its her way or the highway."
But of course she wasn't mad at either of them - oddly enough it was easy for her to get annoyed at little things they did - like the other day when they'd tried to fix cereal for themselves and filled the entire bag with milk, dribbling it literally everywhere in the kitchen and making the box it came in completely soggy - okay so that wasn't really little and yeah it had aggravated her (and made the kitchen smell like milk and grains for days) but was she genuinely mad? No, and it seemed no matter what, it was impossible for her to be truly angry or have bitter feelings toward the twins. "Tohru yelled at Simba for his behavior and called him a coward which he didn't take kindly to, and oh geez that sounds intimidating! My siblings were all younger so I guess I'm used to dealing with tantrums and stuff." Their meltdowns had gotten worse after the divorce too. As for Hackmon, she could only imagine that he probably already felt meh about what happened and the name calling was like throwing lemon juice on his wounded pride.
She wasn't wrong either - Tohru's scolding had only deepened the guilty Simba felt, making him realize (and dwell on) what could have happened if the circumstances were different, if say those weak dokunemon were a kuwagamon or worse something stronger and more terrifying. I want to be brave but...it was unfortunately a task that was easier than done. I guess I can only try! For Talia and for Tohru. Like a guilty puppy the dragon walked toward the set up picnic with his head bowed, the blonde stroking him as if to reassure him otherwise.
"Feel free to help yourself to the food by the way! I was originally born in America, so some of this is western and some of its eastern, I'm still kinda learning how to make Japanese food." For the most part it had been an easy transition, except for sushi -Talia would never eat raw fish as long as she lived! Plus it was a bit too slimy for her liking. Tohru rejoined the group shortly after Simba, glancing at him before quietly helping herself to a deviled egg. "Control spire?" Talia guessed by the name that it wasn't a friendly thing. "I know that they become stronger when they evolve, thats a given, and that the evolution is dependent on the partner and digimon, they have to will it right? Correct me if I’m wrong, I’m still kinda new at this.”
The blonde recepted with a smile and nod, watching as the twins introduced themselves as Tohru and Simba to her, being polite but showing more interest in the fried chicken than socializing at that moment, ugh could they be anymore rude? “Absolutely! It’s always a relief to meet people who understand this...situation? Do you have a digimon too?”

Amelie couldn't help but to snicker at Talia's words. They were definitely an interesting pair, weren't they? Then again, brothers were always like that; best friends on second, and deadly enemies the next. Kinda to be expected from two beings that were supposed to share a relatively high level of intimacy at all times.
"I'm sure they'll become good friends eventually. That's how most siblings end when fighting gets old. Just give them time; life together will surely take care of the rest."
After all, part of sharing your everyday life was also sharing your fears, insecurities and going through life's many trials together; if that couldn't bring them together, probably nothing could. "They must love each other to bits deep down. I'm sure of it." What she wasn't sure of, however, was on some of the more... interesting habits changing. But that was something that time would tell!
Deep talks about that kinda stuff could wait, though! Being honest with herself, Amy could barely contain her hunger and was probably a little too quick on picking a deviled egg and getting it to her mouth; the smile that happened afterward was pretty much instantaneous, but she'd wait until she finished chewing to compliment Talia on it. "It's pretty good! I was born in France, but dad's Canadian and mom's Japanese. Pretty interesting pairing, if you ask me!" The brunette made a small pause, before adding. "Where did you learn to make the eggs? They're pretty amazing!"
Of course, she wouldn't stop there, deciding that her stomach's next victim would be a sandwich. At least until another question came her way. "Oh, I'm no expert on the topic, honestly~. There's so much you can know about partner digimons when you don't have one yourself." Yup, that would answer both her questions, somewhat. As if to put emphasis on her point, Amy brought out her D-Tector from her skirt's pocket and placed it right next to her. "I'm one of those snowflakes that goes 'personal', so to say. In any case... yeah, digimons become stronger, and usually bigger when they evolve. And... while I'm not sure what triggers it, I think it's either related to the bond they share with their human, or when they reach a certain experience or power threshold? Take those words with a grain of salt, though."
One sandwich less, and her stomach now wasn't as threatening as it was moments before. "So... I take you're in the search of that 'Digimental' thingy? Or just having a good time in a clearing? Both seem to be good ways to pass the day!"

“You’re right! I think it’s also the fact that they were born in the same egg, so in a way the bond was always there.” Just give them time, life will surely take care of the rest. For an explained reason that phrase resonated deeply with the blonde as she watched the two grumpy digimon munch on crunchy chicken while refusing to look at one another. “It never hit me until now but I just realized...Tohru and Simba have so much growing up to do, all three of us really.” Granted, Talia didn’t mean that in the mature from child to adult context. “They have a lot to learn about themselves and eachother, and I need to grow into the best partner for their sake.” Because Tohru and Simba, well, they deserved to only have the finest human at their side. “For these little rugrats, I’ll try my best!”
The blonde smiled watching the girl enjoying the treat. “They’re an American classic! We eat them at easter, at picnics, barbecues, mostly a warm weather favorite of people. Plus they get better as they sit.” Pfft, and people said Americans were uncultured. “It’s very easy to make! Its just the yolk part of a hard boiled egg mashed and mixed with a little mayo, grated onion, hot sauce, pickle relish, and dijon mustard.”
But now Talia had another question. “Out of curiosity, is it really common for digimon to be born as twins? Or is it caused by some kind of phenomena? Most people I’ve met have one, hence why I ask.” At times Talia could be dense, but when it came to obvious plotholes in mysterious cases she was as sharp as a tack more often than not, and based on the circumstances so far, it safe to say these twins were more than meets the eye and beyond. “Personal? So wait like...magical girls exist in the digital world too?!” Her face practically lit up, as magical girl shows were some of her favorites. As she spoke (and despite that she probably have asked permission first) Talia picked up the D-Tector. “This one’s different! Are there a lot of different models of these?” Better yet, did she have the best one available?
Plopping down on the soft blanket, the blonde helped herself to a sandwich, sitting cross legged between the two of them. “Hey, come here, both of you, we need to have a little family meeting now that the fires passed.” Obeying, the two of them nudged closer to their partner, Simba nuzzling against her hand as she stroked the top of his head. “First, Tohru, I want you to apologize for calling Simba a coward.” The hare attempted to protest stuttering a ‘but but-’ but was quickly shushed by the pigtailed human. “Nope we’re not doing that, it’s in the past now. Make eye contact and say you’re sorry.”
Before turning her head, Tohru remained quiet for a second before side eyeing the dragon, her face softening as she mumbled a small apology. “See? Easy. Now, Simba- oh don’t give me the head shake! Just say you’re sorry for tackling Tohru.” As prideful as his sister, the dragon lifted his head, eyes locked with the lopmon, letting her know he was sorry for getting physical with her. “And that’s over, now-” she was cut off by Simba walking over her lap towards Tohru whom he quietly nuzzled, surprisingly the hare a bit, who nonetheless cudded him back as they settled on the blanket, Talia watching with adoration before turning to Amelie. “Huh, I guess this partner thing isn’t too hard.”
Before responding, she thought about whether this digimental was worth going after - treasure hunts were always fun right? “Well, at first we came just to explore but now an Indiana Jones style adventure sounds like my kind of thing! What do you say guys, up for a treasure hunt?” Zoned on their lunch, the twins mumbled a short ‘yeah!’ before returning to concentrating on their chicken, which Talia took as a yes. “So yeah, you could say we are! The question is...how does one begin looking for a digimental? Sorry I know, too many questions.”

That was nice to behold; that Talia was willing to see how their twins would eventually evolve as beings; recognizing their partnership as something that had just begun was an act of wisdom, just like realizing that the potential to grow was there. Those words made Amelie smile, despite she not being overly sure of her own stance regarding this world. "That's the attitude. I'm sure you all will grow into a magnificent trio given enough time; but that's the hardest part, isn't it? Getting time to pass meaningfully..."
Huh, somehow that sounded like the plot of a really bad movie starring Adam Sandler, but that was probably just her imagination. Now, onto happier thoughts! The brunette listened raptly to the blonde's recipe; from the look of it, the eggs were really easy to make. "Maybe I'll try my hand at them at some point if I can get the ingredients! I swear I've been trying to get dijon mustard for a while since I've moved, but just... no dice. It was a little disheartening."
Maybe she just wasn't looking in the right place; not even in the places where she remembered acquiring it that was something sold on every convenience store; definitely something Amy should have in mind the next time she went out shopping.
Then again, that wasn't important at the moment, wasn't it? Why was she letting herself be distracted so easily by food talk? Maybe the brunette was still a little hungry, after all. "Digimons to be born as twins...?" She parroted the question as she brought a lone finger to her chin. And ended up humming a bit as a result. "Common is a bit of a loose word. I don't have the exact statistics, but... they're way more common when a digivice is involved, as far as I've seen, even if they're pretty rare overall; maybe there's a relationship's between them and having a divigice? Just speculating at the moment."
Not like this was Amelie's area of expertise, anyway. After all... she didn't even have a digimon partner on her own. "A rare situation among rare situations..." Was that like winning a lottery inside a lottery? Before she got inception-y, the teenager couldn't resist giggling amusedly at Talia's words about 'magical girls' being a thing in the Digital World. Guess an explanation was in order.
"I guess you can call them magical girls, or snowflakes, or whatever you want to call them." Admittingly, titles were the least of her worries. "The formal term is 'Spirit User' or 'Spirit Wielder', at least from what I've heard; the gist of it is that when you see anyone with that weird digivice, it means that they don't have a digimon partner on their own, but that they are the ones doing the evolving, if you catch my drift."
Was that comparable to a magical girl transformation? Well, probably! If the blonde fiddled with the D-Tector enough, she'd probably catch a glimpse of the three spirits currently residing inside the digivice, even if the totems would probably look a bit... formless on the surface.
With any luck, the brunette would be able to get her digivice back as Talia and her twins began to apologize to themselves. Being the witness of such an intimate exchange made moved her deeply. That was what a brotherly bond was about, wasn't it? In fact, it made her feel really... nostalgic. Unwittingly, she was already smiling by the time everything was said and done.
Now, the question was... how one found a digimental? That managed to twist Amelie's smile into a small frown. "Well, if they're like my thingies, your digivice should begin doing a beeping thing if you're really close, and begin to display some vague directions if you're relatively near. I'm afraid it's not an exact art, and it'll mostly boil down to... whether the thingy wants you to find it or not."
She felt pretty bad at not being able to provide more accurate advice, even though... that feeling was eased pretty quickly as soon as she began with the chicken. It was fantastic, if her expression while eating gave any clue about it.

“The only annoying thing about them is peeling the eggs, but I’m sure you’re better at it than me!” You’d think for someone who did programming for a living Talia would be more tolerant of finicky things in the kitchen but in actuality it was the opposite, the blonde considering herself to be a no frills kind of cook, as in you wouldn’t catch her making character cakes with fondant ever, all she cared about eating good food and the easier it was to do that the better in her opinion. “Haha, I’m not very patient when it comes to tedious cooking stuff, egg peeling included.”
The woman wasn’t a fan of buying gimmicky cooking tools either, but if there was one that prevented her from having to peel eggs she’d buy it for sure. “I know what you mean! I can’t find that many American cereals here, and once when I really wanted chocolate cheerios I had my boyfriend running all over town looking for them and went ended up at this super questionable flea market, we found the cheerios though!”
Speaking of boyfriend, the woman suddenly realized she hadn’t heard from Carlos for the past two, maybe three days? Was she really that oblivious? Talia’d just been so busy with work that she’d forgotten to check on her man though it was a bit odd he hadn’t contacted her or came over for that, which could only mean one thing - he was in some kind of trouble or was sleeping out of the trunk of someone’s car on a band gig, and frankly either of those were highly possible.
“Humans evolve?!” This world just kept getting cooler and cooler - heck it was as if all of her childhood cartoons had dropped into one universe. “So spirits are kinda superheroes! That’s soooo cool.” Could she do that? Probably not, based on the fact that these so called spirit wielders didn’t seem to have their own partners, and she wasn’t about to give up these two just to fulfill a nerd fantasy. “Oooh, so it’s like a ‘the wand chooses the wizard’ type thing, got it.” While observing the group, Megidramon couldn’t help have been drawn in by the delicious scent of the chicken and decided now would be a good time for her to join since the humans were probably all mellowed out by the rich food, plus she was interested in trying some of that chicken herself.
“Weird, the sky just got dark- uhhhh.” The dragon’s gigantic form created a shadow over the group as it flew down, making a loud thud sound as it landed. “Guys? What’s wrong?” The twins faces had shifted from enjoyment to horror panic, the dragon having landed behind the blonde’s line of sight. “Talia, don’t make any sudden moves, okay?” Turning her head slowly, her eyes met with the head of a drooling, jagged tooth, red eyed dragon sniffing her...not unlike a labrador? It was still a terrifying experience though for sure, so much so the woman found herself hardly able to make a noise. “H-hi dragon, want some chicken?” As if welcoming the offer, the creature careful reached into the basket with its large claw, dropping a piece into its mouth, crunching the bones and everything like a flimsy piece of paper.

"Peeling eggs isn't that bad." Amelie remarked; sure, if there were a lot, maybe it got a little bit annoying, but the trick was really simple! "Just need some cold water, crack the shell a bit, then remove the rest; you don't even have to be that deft to do it." Since Talia had been nice enough to share her recipes, the only fitting thing for the brunette to do was to share her cooking tips; that much was obvious, wasn't it? No need to anything super fancy, either!
She couldn't but nod with regret as soon as her new friend expressed how hard was to get 'foreign' things in Japan. A bit of a bummer unless you lived near a specialized store. Amy herself was a bit lucky in that regard, but getting there at times was a draaaag. Not to say that the prices weren't the friendliest, either.
"Your boyfriend sounds like a really nice guy, by the way. How long have you been together?" Suddenly, a lone question popped on the teenager's mind. Was it okay to ask or not? Welp... "Does he know about the whole... digimon stuff? I can imagine it being pretty hard keeping a secret from your significant other if you don't wanna endanger them..."
Was this how a relationship between 'wizards' and 'muggles' felt in the Harry Potter world? The brunette could only guess. On a lighter note, she couldn't avoid gigglin at Talia's remark about humans being able to evolve, even if in the strictest sense of the word, she was right. "Yup, I guess that's more or less it; different people get chosen for different roles, I guess? I don't know what's the metric to choose each thing, though. It'd be fun to find out..."
The teenager would also feel how the sky had gotten darker, her mouth becoming a thin line at the sight of the gigantic dragon overhead. Well, at least until it landed; cold beads of sweat began to form on the girl's brow as the dragon began sniffing her, even if ultimately... he seemed to want non-living food. That was great, in a sense.
"You can eat as much as you want!" Was the quick addition Amy made to the previous offer. As long as they weren't on the menu, everything would be more or less fine.

“Hehe, he has his typical ‘being a stupid boy’ moments, but Carlos has a heart of gold deep down.” Hopefully he never heard her say that, ugh. “Well, we’ve known eachother for a few years but started dating only recently - I actually couldn’t stand him when we first met - him and his band were recording some songs for a game my company was developing and band boy metalists have never really been my thing.”
Granted she’d never really dated anyone to begin with, always too busy with work or school and had intended to keep it that way until she’d met that silly boy. “Sometimes even the stupidest of boys grow on you I guess, so here we are, now a thing I guess, hehe.” The twins looked at her a bit oddly, still not really understanding the whole human mating ritual thing, confirming that no matter how much they studied, there would be some human customs they would simply never get.
“Better, he’s got one of his own.” And then there was Dio, aka the Dark Lord, aka the Biggest Megalomaniac Under Four Feet Tall, aka Devil Boy Wonder. “He’s uhhh...lets just say one of a kind.” Despite the potentially villainous aspirations she couldn’t deny he was freakin’ adorable, if only she could hug and hold him without risking getting her hair burnt off, maybe one day!
“I’d love to find out! I work as a computer programmer, so finding answers and solutions to everything is kind of my jam.” She omitted from mentioning she was a part time contract hacker, always nervous the other person would label her as a criminal, even if she didn’t consider herself one - most of her ‘hacking’ jobs consisting of probing information for security firms, getting stats of a company’s sales competitor, and snooping at the message histories of accused cheating boyfriends.
“Brave, Simba, brave, brave, b-brave...” The small dragon’s legs shook at the sight of the gigantic fearsome looking muscular serpent. “Simba, be careful, that drool is acidic!” Hearing that pushed away all the previous self encouragement as the digimon curled up in a ball terrified, so much so he hardly saw the giant claw moving toward him, the frozen Tohru too nervous to open her mouth - to her surprise however, the red dragon simply gave the hare a headpat, doing the same with Simba before letting out a few low grunts which to the humans probably sounded like generic beastly sound but something completely different to the smaller dragons. Won’t hurt, want to play, like the food. “Don’t worry, he wants to play and likes the food!” As Simba, who seemed to hear it the most clear, translated, the dragon grunted again. “She! My mistake.”
Confused, Talia had first been bewildered by the seemingly language barrier and now by the idea this beast wanted to...play like a beagle at the dog park? “Play as in, play with her food or play a game?” As if to also reassure the human, Talia received a pat on the head next as if the dragon was slightly amused by the visible fear. “Alright alright, I believe you!” The real question was, how did one exactly ‘play’ with a giant dragon? “Any ideas on giant dragon themed party games, Amelie?”

Talk about... coincidences, or at least potential ones! Truth was that Carlos was a pretty strange name, or at least it was for Amelie. Chances were that Talia could be talking about another person, but thus far name and being a musician checked.
"Wait." As amazing as the programming aspect and working together with your significant other was juuust too many things checked out, and that was genuinely surprising. "This may sound oddly specific, but this Carlos person we're talking about has bleached hair, and is partnered with a little purple guy? Because I think I know him if that's the case..."
Nevermind the fact that they were essentially members of the same 'club', and that they had already been on some adventures on their own. That was, however, something that wasn't super important at the moment, especially given the huge dragon with the menacing look that had landed just around them. To say that everyone was on the edge was the understatement of the year, and while the brunette thought about a way to escape the situation unscathed with Talia.
How surprised she was once it was revealed that Huge Guy was actually friendly —and a girl, to a lesser extent— could be best described by how the teenager's mouth remained slightly agape for a couple of seconds. In the end, however, Amelie managed to smile at their new acquaintance. Now that there wasn't a threat of hostility, there wasn't much to be worried about, was it? She'd probably be the biggest hypocrite in the universe if she began to discriminate others based on how they look, anyway.
"That's a relief." Amy sighed, then looked at Simba. "Guess you're our interpreter now." And then to Talia. "Let me think for a bit..."
What could they do with a giant dragon wanting to partake in a game? She seemed to think for a second before... seemingly having an idea. "Have you guys ever heard of Quixo? It's like tic-tac-toe but it can be played in teams, and the pieces are probably big enough for our new friend to participate. I can explain how it works if you're interested!"
Probably a decent enough idea, given that stuff like tag would probably be slightly awkward with a huge red dragon.

“Have you seen him?! I thought something was up.” So he was definitely here in the digital world and for some reason the new information made the woman slightly angry, hurt if anything and almost jealous for some reason that’d he come here first without her, and without even telling her for that! “Is he...alright?” Hopefully he was so she wouldn’t feel bad about slapping him when they found eachother again.
“Wait a minute, how come you can fully understand her but I can’t?!” Like most (if not all) siblings, Talia had learned that the twins were not happy when one was utterly jipped of something that the other got - if you gave one to one you had to give it to the other or there would be a wrath to face for sure. And to be honest the blonde couldn’t blame them - it wasn’t fair to favor one over the other and she would never intentionally do it. “I-I don’t know, it just happened!” To Tohru it sounded gibberish like but also...audible if that made sense? As if she could understand the dragons tone and attitude but just not her actual words.
You’d think with the personalities they had Tohru and Simba would get jealous of one another but it surprisingly hadn’t really come up as an issue at all since the birth of their partnership with the girl. “Never! What’s Quixo?” As a child she’d played mousetrap, monopoly, sandbag and that one where you had to catch floating butterflies inside the elephant but she had a feeling board games weren’t gonna be the dragons thing unless they were economy sized. “I’d be down, thoughts guys?” She looked down at the twins who nodded before being picked up by the dragon who caressed them almost as...a mother would? It was adorable and also kind of scary at the same time.
Not scary at for the twins, for supposedly an evil dragon she had actually a quite...gentle aura? Soothing? Her seemingly naturally maternal personality was a surprise to all for sure. “Just..don’t make any sudden moves Simba. Simba?” Sure she seemed sweet but she was still a giant beast who could be set off by anything and everything - that didn't seem to bother the small dragon though who poked the Megidramon. "Wanna play uh...Quixo was it?"

Apparently... Carlos' involvement in the whole issue wasn't something that Talia took well. Like at all; Amelie wasn't the best at reading the mood, but she definitely could sense when somebody was angry about something. "Surprise, I guess?" She couldn't but say, hoping that this wasn't going to throw a spanner in the relationship. Imagine what would happen if they fought because of what she had just said, or worse, if they broke up! The brunette would undoubtedly feel like trash.
Still, it just wasn't in the brunette's mindset to lie, at least if she could help it. "He's fine, last time I saw him! We're actually members of a thingy called 'The Digital Field Club', that's more or less a group of friends that go around doing stuff while the actually smart one documents what we do, the results and stuff. It's fun."
Was she getting him in trouble? That was quite possible, even though there was no real way for her to know! Instead, she decided to focus on the Megidramon, how Simba was able to understand what she said perfectly, and the apparent interest everyone seemed to have on playing a party game! Or at least that seemed to be the case; it wasn't like a negative answer would deter Amy about explaining the rules. Unless it was overwhelming, that is.
So, with a smile, Amelie brought out her infini-store, fashioned after a Rubik dodecahedron and proceeded to open it. She began to bring what looked like, big —those being more or less about Tohru's size— cubic pieces. One by one, until a total of twenty-five were brought out. Upon closer examination, one could see that the pieces had four blank faces, one cross in one of their faces and a circle on the opposite face.
"Don't ask why they're so big. Apparently, that was the smaller they had in Terminus' store, even though it'll probably be helpful considering our new friend's size. In any case, the first thing we gotta do is arranging these in five rows of five pieces each."
Were they following? She hoped they were following. "And make sure none of the marked sides are facing upwards. Once that's done, we form two teams; the ones playing the crosses and the ones playing the circles." She breathed a bit before continuing. "Now, that's when things get a bit tricky; we take turns to take a cube that is blank or bearing the symbol from our team from the outer ring of the grind, then rotate it to show the team's symbol if needed and then add it to the grid again by pushing it into one of the rows from which it was removed! This makes a few pieces move and change places each turn. We continue playing until somebody forms an orthogonal or diagonal line of five cubes bearing the team's symbol!"
That was a bit... complex, wasn't it? Hopefully, they'd get it quickly after some quick games. "So, what do you say? Up to it?"

“Club?” She didn’t want to pull a shoot the messenger on Amelie, but this was all starting to sound a little too suspicious for her liking. “And are there a lot of...pretty girls in said club?” The twins, who didn’t seem to pick up on what was going on at first, glanced at their partner and then at the other girl, then back at Talia who’s face had seemed to turn glum with disappointment frustration. “What’s wrong? Did you eat a bad deviled egg?” The dragon had padded up to the girl, nuzzling against her like a cat while Tohru flopped onto her head, the attention instantly cheering up the woman. “Nah! It’s just that...boys are stupid!” Why did she even try? They were each the same roving pigs after all as just proven now. So were clubs for that matter, excluding everyone on purpose like fifth grade girls in the lunchroom. “Whatever though, it’s not really that important, definitely not as important as you two are to me!”
Talia couldn’t help but nerd out over the giant blocks, examining them with a graze of a hand. “This is SO cool, like tic tac toe on steroids! I don’t know why we don’t have more fun gadgets like this in the real world, stuff that people and families can do together - kids today with their Ipads and phones are way too self involved.” As the girl explained the rules, Talia and the twins paid attention while at the same time observing the playing field, a loud thumping make the blonde turn to see that Megidramon had lowered itself down next to her, watching and listening curiously - a drop of her drool hitting the ground and sizzling it like pancakes on a griddle, making cringe a bit as she realized this, wondering just what that drool could do to someone. While lost in thought, the dragon stroked her on the head while simultaneously stroking Amelie’s as well, grunting a bit. “She says, ‘cute humans’. ” Simba was all too happy to translate for the big beast. “I think so! How should we begin?” The twins bounced with excitement, both of them adoring board games and the like while Megidramon watched the scene curiously, finding these human customs to be quite interesting. The dragon unfortunately lived a bit of an isolated life, since very few would approach such a scary looking beast, so she was quite appreciative that these people were so unusually inviting.
