“This couldn't be happening, it honestly couldn't.” Was the thought going through Chie and Do’s mind. The human and Dorumon were faced deep into the cold, relentless, and lifeless eyes of Death-X-Dorugamon.
Half an hour prior, Chie was driving along the outskirts of the server forest, on a trip to go pick up Silvia after a brief visit to the Sunken Elysium. It was getting late into the evening which reflected in the orange and red contrast in the sky. However a figure was walking out of the woods and into the path of the vehicle. Just before the large vehicle would hit the figure, Chie slammed down on the breaks. The figure turned around, in the headlights it was revealed to be a Baromon. He backed up and spoke in a lighthearted gruff voice “Oh, forgive me. I was not watching my surroundings. “
Chie let out a deep breath while Do was just glad that he didn't have to fight on the grounds of accidentally getting hit by the RV. Chie rolled down the window and stuck her head out the window. “Sorry about that. Should've paid more attention.”
The elderly digimon shook his head, he was not willing to let any blame rest with the younger pair. "No dear, don't take any blame, I was wandering without sight for hours. I should have been more cautious."
Chie could see the exhaustion in the eyes of the digimon and then shifted into park, she and Do hopped out of the RV to get a better look at the digimon in question. The Baromon appeared to be exhausted and have wandered for a while, dirt almost coated his body. She reached out her hand for a handshake. "Hello, I am Chie, this is Do." He responded and accepted the handshake. "I am Baromon, a traveling mystic."
Do's interest peeked at the title of the stranger, he hadn't seen many of the kind but he was somewhat aware of their existence. He was curious to know what Baromon was doing this far out here. "If you don't mind me asking, what is a mystic doing this far out here?" The mystic glanced his sight back down to the Dorumon but then knelled down to look at Do closer. "I travel these lands to help those wayward souls that can still be saved from their own inner demons. You sir, look like you could use some help, no reward is in it for me except job satisfaction, your choice."
Do shrugged, Chie raised an eyebrow and was about to object but she realized Do is his own being, and from what was said, she didn't think any harm could come of it. Baromon let Do away from the RV but when Chie tried to follow, Baromon used his hand to signal her to stay back. The shaman spoke in an inaudible/translatable language as the interface on Do's forehead began to glow. However Chie could see a darkness emerge through Do's stomach and slowly move up his body and up to his digiport, slowly coming out as a speck of dark energy. Baromon grabbed that energy in his hand and crushed it. "My friend, you are now free. I have removed your demons, now they are-"
An explosion emerged from the fist of Baromon, sending both digimon flying back in opposite directions. Chie immediately ran to Do while she pulled on her chain, taking out the digivice as she checked on Do. Groggily, he got back up, looking towards Baromon. "Do, are you okay?" Do on the other hand had his priorities straight while he looked forward. He saw the smoke cloud in the distance but didn't like a single thing he saw. He saw the red eyes pierce through the smoke.
As the smoke settled, both Chie and Do were afraid of what they saw as they believed to see a familiar appearance. “This couldn't be happening, it honestly couldn't.” Was the thought going through Chie and Do’s mind. The human and Dorumon were faced deep into the cold, relentless, and lifeless eyes of Death-X-Dorugamon.
The mechanical beastly digimon let out a cackle as he beat his wings back, dispersing the smoke. Baromon could be seen, his body disintegrating into code while his digicore rested in the open jaw of Death-X-Dorugamon until it closed his jaw shut, breaking the core. "Surprised to see me again Chie? And howabout you Do, surprised to see me from this angle?"
Chie backed up as Do tried to get between her and the Death-X-Dorugamon. His eyes fixed on the target as he had asked a question he figured he knew the answer already. "What are you?" The dark digimon cackled and responded in a chilling tone. "I am what was removed, I am you. I am your pain, your hatred, your anger, given form. I am your end!" Chie, albeit terrified could tell what was coming as the dark digimon prepared a shot. She reached her hand to slam down on her digivice while Do started to charge at the digimon.
The dark digimon began to shoot iron balls at Do as Chie slammed the device. "Cannon Ball!" Chie's digivice screen lit up right before Do's form lit up and expanded as he developed wings and quickly restored color to a Dorugamon. Do dodged the earlier attack and spat on the claws on feet. Do attempted to beat his wings, jumping in mid air and scratching the Death-X-Dorugamon on the digital interface. However, the target knew what Do was doing, and extended the wires of its tail and jumped to the side, turning his body mid air to do a sideways cartwheel. The wires on the tail smacked Do right in the face, electrocuting the wounds including the eyes.
Do flew back as he nurtured the wound on his face, he maintained his position mid air as Do tried to recollect himself. Death-X-Dorugamon did not miss a single beat as he slashed his own tail on his right upper claw before it launched at Do's neck. "Tell me Do, when did I fester? Was it in Takashi's last moments? Or was it when you learned the truth... Or was I here all along?"
While Do was regaining his balance, he soon felt the sharp pain pierce into his neck, knocking him down to the ground landing on his left side. Chie watched as this all happened, feeling powerless as Do was caught against her inner demons. Do grit his teeth as he himself tried to answer the very question. "I don't know... But I will take you down."
Do struggled to get back up, Looking at Death-X-Dorugamon with his right eye, full of determination as he nodded. Chie in an anxious state did not hesitate as she slammed down on her digivice again causing Do to undergo yet another digivolution as the dark digimon charged him. Do's body rapidly expanded into the dragon shape before a flash of light, taking the form of a DORUguremon. Do struck his tail towards the dark digimon, piercing the front of his metal binding and then launched him deep into the forest. "There, that should have taken care of him."
Do turned to face Chie, but as he started to walk towards Chie he heard a massive roar up behind him as he could here the brutal cackling that came along with dark evolution. Quickly rising out of the forest was the same digimon from before, but now in the form of Death-X-Doruguremon. Flying above Do, it quickly shot the spikes of his wings piercing right through Do's metal wings "Metal Hook!"
Albeit slowly, it dragged Do up into the air. "Tell me Do, who can you protect? Takashi, your dead ex-partner? Chie, your new one you abandoned and nearly killed? Silvia, the daughter you abandoned? See a pattern?" As Do got closer, he decided he had no other option.
He shot his wings in pieces into the air, one section after another until he got to the pierced parts, falling afterwords. Landing on his claws, he bit his tongue to prevent his pain from being heard. Death-X-Doruguremon changed to a crash course towards Do, he saw what the dark digimon was plotting. "Bloody cave" Without wings, Do had a major loss of mobility. He jumped to the side as Death-X-Doruguremon came crashing down into the ground horn first. With the horn stuck in the ground the body bent forward, leaving the dark digimon in an awkward position. Do faced his head towards the sky and it seemed the outer part of a wave before spitting forth a stream of iron balls like a fountain. "Bullet shower!"
Do's laser eyes focused on the dark digimon as he struggled to get free while being barraged from the iron blls, full of remorse as he looked at his own inner demon. "You took advantage of knowing me, but forgetting the fact that I know your moves as well." As Do's wings slowly reformed out of his back, he quickly turned around to position his tail to strike for the dark digimon's interface. However the dark digimon instinctively lifted his body up slightly as the tail missed and he dropped his body, snagging the tail in the process. "Tell me, how often was it that you forgot to consider those around you? How often did you forget about Chie and Takashi in the heat of battle? Oh that's right, you can't. You evolved into a sociopath when you hit ultimate. What does that say about you?"
Do tried to ignore the words of the dark digimon, but even Doru spirit had its flaws with the way the digimon in question as he could easily get under Do's skin at this point. The dark digimon soon became enveloped in a dark shadow, Do wanted to move in but this time it happened quickly. The body reshaped to be quite humanoid and the wings multiplied and developed odd shapes. While in mid evolution, the dark digimon grabbed Do with what became a hand as it stood up. As the evolution finished, the now Death-X-Dorugoramon grabbed Do's head with the other and quickly let go of the tail to grab Do's head with both hands, but leaving Do's eyes cleared so he could see the monster before him.
Chie was worried as soon as the dark digimon turned into a behemoth, even though his back was to Chie, she could tell Do was in great danger. Gripping her digivice, she knew what she had to do. Before the dark digimon could strike him with an attack, she slammed down on the top of her digivice and her screen lit up. A series of coding ran on the screen as Do started to light up as Do's form became encased in a white light. His form was shifting as the dark digimon cackled. "Just what I was waiting for!"
The dark digimon moved his right hand to where the interface on Do was as it glowed dark purple before a furious shock wave was released right on Do's head "DORU Din!". Chie's digivice beeped and she read the screen, it said "ERROR!" as Do's form reshaped and went back to a Doruguremon. The dark digimon then proceeded to stretch out its wings as he struck the blades quickly into Do's interface while he was still groggy from having his digivolution interrupted "Death execution! You were trying to get my weakness all along, but in a twist of irony, I strike yours twice.". Chie bit her lip feeling helpless as Do went through hell. As he removed his blades he grabbed Do by the neck while stepping a foot back. He through Do over his shoulder and sent Do flying, crashing on the ground several times.
Each time he bounced, he devolved a form, the first time he made a crater and after bouncing he devolved back to Dorugamon, then Dorumon, Dorimon, and landing at Chie's feet was Dodomon. Do was barely conscious as he felt his life force fading, Chie bent down to pick up the Fresh level digimon in her arms. "Do... Dear lord you're hurt." The dark digimon slowly walked towards the duo, reveling in his victory. "Do can't beat me, I am the shadows in his heart, he cannot defeat what he fuels."
Chie's tears rolled down her cheeks as she was trembling in the approach of a being that compared to her, might as well be a god. However she did have one thing to say to the embodiment of darkness. "You... You are wrong." The dark digimon couldn't help but laugh as he slowly approached, enjoying every second awaiting the sensation of the blood of the human right before finishing of Do, once and for all. At this point, toying with them was adding to his entertainment. "Oh? I have all but destroyed his body. He's a weak shell of a shadow that he could never fill. I am the darkness that consumes him."
Chie looked at Death-X-Dorugoramon in the eyes, or what she assumed was a face guard with eyes beneath. If her time with Do has taught her one thing, it's that he fights for those who can't. Her eyes full of determination and voice projected back to the menacing threat approaching. "Do's strength doesn't come from his big talk, but it comes from his very soul. He fights you every day inside so no one has to, he draws strength for those in need. You may be his despair, but you are also the source of his power as he strives to protect everyone from you! No matter how deep you cut, no matter how many ploys you try, no matter who stands in his way even if it's himself, he won't let anyone succumb to the pain he felt as long as he lives. And that's a strength not even you can take away from him!"
As a tear drop touched her digivice, the screen lit up as Do started to come into full consciousness as he heard every word Chie said. Hopping out of Chie's arms, she was about to object but she felt a radiating pulse emerge from her digivice and checked the screen. It was an odd loading bar with six checkpoints, it was going pretty quickly while Do was hopping towards Death-X-Dorugoramon. "You still wanna go, fine!" The dark digimon kept generating balls of purple energy in his hand and throwing them at Do, getting bigger each time as they exploded. The first time, after the smoke cleared a Dorimon walked out from the smoke and kept walking, the second time a Dorumon. "Where are you getting all this power from!"
It kept launching explosive balls but the third time, a Dorugamon emerged from the smoke, the fourth time a Doruguremon, and the last time, a Dorugoramon emerged from the smoke. Raising both hands above, creating a massive ball, it through it right at Do, Chie noticed that as soon as Do hit the last form, the loading bar finally filled completely. Sensing there was more, she slammed her hand down on the top of the digivice as the ball was being launched.
A white light consumed Do's form but then the light flashed in a giant pillar as the energy was swerving around the area, wind blowing as the light changed into a rainbow tone while swirling around. As the large energy ball reached the light, a black and yellow gauntlet reached out and grabbed it, the ball condensed as it became small enough to fit in the palm of Do's hand. Do slowly walked out in the form of an Alphamon as the light dissipated.
Do threw the ball back at the Death-X-Dorugoramon's collar, creating a massive explosion sending the dark digimon flying through the server forest, breaking many trees in the process. Do raised his palm towards his opponent as a purple magical circle appeared before him letting out a barrage of green energy beams was launched towards Death-X-Dorugoramon. The blasts hit as soon as the beast's momentum stopped, not letting him have a moment to gain his bearings. At this point, it was disorientated as Do approached it, raising his hand as a sword began to form in his hand."Seiken Gradalpha"
Do stabbed the blade into the purple diamond interface on the being's head. "You are no true digimon, you are a mass of my own darkness. You shall not reincarnate as a digimon, but return to my very soul. I shall never let you harm anyone ever again."
The body disintegrated into dust and Do watched as his own demons crumbled into the wind. Do then walked away as he slowly devolved back through his forms all the way back to rookie when he reached Chie. "It's over, it's dead." Do could see Chie has been through quite the ringer as well, she simply nodded and walked back to the RV and Do followed, hopping in the passenger seat while Chie shifted into drive and stated to drive away from the horrid scene, hoping this would stay buried.
