Children were playing on a playground, as they usually did, but something wasn't right that day. While the children were happily playing tag with each other, suddenly a very different type of child appeared in the park, having watched them play. A green, oni-looking creature carrying a wood club, who was noticeably bigger than the kids in the area, suddenly joined.
Unfortunately, it's idea of playing included shooting fireballs at the kids, who desperately began running away and screaming. Before the situation could get any worse, however, the Goblinmon was suddenly struck by two energy waves that, together formed a X and got knocked back a little by it. This was soon followed by Shou rushing in to help, with Ryou lagging behind soon afterward.
"Stop right there!" Shou commanded the much bigger creature, pointing one of his swords at him.
"Can you stop just running off like that?!" Ryou panted as he stopped behind Shou, having been chasing the surprisingly fast little bugger for a while after hearing the sounds of explosions.
"It's hurting kids, Ryou! I can't let it do that!" Shou justified himself, directing an angry look at the Goblinmon.
Well, Ryou had to give that to him, even if he would rather not get into any more fights like this, the fact of the matter was that this wild Digimon was trying to hurt kids and that was not something Ryou could tolerate. Still, that dude was a lot bigger than Shou and now that it had been attacked, it was looking pretty mad too. This time, Ryou and Shou were on their own, so this fight was probably gonna be a lot harder...

And here he thought that he could have a peaceful day for once.
After all the chaos and shenanigans, between him discovering digimon, discovering the D-Tector that he now held in his hand, and his digital sprite spirit which he fought for in the awfully hot volcanic region, he thought he could recuperate by coming back to the human world for some time.
How could he ever be so naïve?
Before long, he could see a green demon-looking monster, which he correctly assumed was a digimon, begin to terrorise nearby children. With fire.
Great.
Almost immediately after, he saw a pair of tamer-and-digimon, that looked like a literal ball in knight armour, charge in after the green goblin. Whilst Ry admired that charge of justice, he was also just as reckless.
And now he had the power to back up that recklessness too.
"Okay, let's see how this works!" Ry slipped his D-Tector from the belt of his pants and threw it up in the air, "Spirit digivolution!"
... But nothing.
Puzzled, he tried once more, "Spirit digivolution!" yet there was still nothing. The screen of the D-Tector lit up for a split second, but then went dark again, and Ry could find no further reaction from the device.
"Damn it!" he exclaimed, quickly slapping his D-Tector back on his belt and rushing off after the goblin, "I can do this even as a human!"

All of sudden, Ryou saw another guy, this one older, suddenly beginning to charge at the Goblinmon. While he understood why he might have been doing it, that didn't change the fact that he was doing was a monumentally stupid idea. Was he trying to get himself killed?! At least Shou was armored and was a Digimon himself, he could take a few punches, but this guy was just a human!
"Are you crazy?!" Ryou yelled out, looking mortified that someone was actually doing that.
"Stop! You're gonna get hurt!" Shou also yelled, which also just served as further evidence of how stupid what this guy was doing was.
Nevertheless, the guy charged in and the Goblinmon noticed it, responding by swing his club at the guy. Luckily, there was no fire involved this time, it was just an old-fashioned blow with a blunt object, but Ryou couldn't imagine that it would be anything less than painful to be hit by that thing.
"X-Slash!"
Taking advantage of the Goblinmon's distraction, as well as trying to redirect its attention to him, Shou fired another pair of energy blades from his swords at the Goblinmon, who was struck once again and pushed back, showing some difficulty to keep standing. While charging was a dumb idea, it did at least work on their favor, even if Ryou would rather not have anyone stupidly sacrifice themselves if it could be helped, even if that wasn't the intention behind it.

"I'm not crazy, I can fight too!" Ry called back out, "My powers are just currently... out of commision at the moment."
It's a good thing that Ry was a bit of an athlete and had training in his reaction speed, or he would have been clubbed in the face. "Woah!" he exclaimed, dodging the goblin monster's club to the side. He skidded to a stop, taking in the situation as the friendly ball knight monster fired a pair of energy blades at the goblin monster.
A small smirk appeared at the edges of his lips, now it was his turn. Taking advantage of the little stumble that the goblin took, Ry instantly charged back in and lifted his feet high in the air, aiming for a kick at the goblin.
Whether or not the hit connected, Ry would instantly jump a few leaps back out of the way from the goblin, creating distance between him and the monster. At least so that he would be out of range from the club, "Alright, how's that?"

Thankfully the dude actually managed to avoid getting himself caved in by a club, making the distraction he offered Ryou and Shou go without a fuss. Of course, even after a close call like that, the dude still insisted in fighting, claiming that his powers were just out of commission for the time being. Did he mean he was a Spirit user...?
Whatever he was, he actually managed to strike the Goblinmon with a solid kick before leaping to safe distance. It was clear that this guy knew how to fight on his own and could stand his ground, even against a monster like that.
"... Ok, yeah. I gotta admit that was pretty good." Ryou conceded, visibly impressed by the display.
The Goblinmon was much less pleased though and angrily responded by summoning a ball of fire that it then smacked with his club like it was a baseball bat, sending it straight at the guy.
"Watch out!" Ryou called out.
Shou then began dashing forward towards the Goblinmon "Wheel Blade!"
He leaped towards the Goblinmon while spinning like a sawblade, once again taking advantage of the fact it was distracted by the human attacking him to land another clean hit and this time, place himself close enough to it so that it would focus on him, instead of the other guy.

Ry's breathing was starting to get a bit ragged, obviously fighting in his human form was more taxing than it was fighting in his digimon form, who would have thought, huh? But regardless, he did manage to get his kick in, landing a perfect hit on the goblin monster. Even though he was only in his human form, the kick was enough to hurt the goblin enough, so he saw.
Pleased with himself, a small smirk appeared at the edge of his lips. He glanced aorund and saw the tamer approve of his action, "Oh thanks man!" he called back, waving a hand at him.
It was at that moment that the tamer called out in warning, Ry quickly glanced back at the goblin monster and his eyes went wide at the sudden fireball, "Oh shi-"
He jumped to the side and only barely managed to evade his attack, the fireball singed just a bit of the cuffs of his hoodie, but thankfully nothing else was damaged. His ally took the distraction as an advantage, and began to attack the goblin monster in full earnest, but now was more than a good time to be able to spirit evolve.
As if his D-Tector read his mind, the screen started to light up like a flashlight right at that moment. His smirk grew wider, "Finally!" he swiped his D-Tector off his belt and held it up to the air, "Spirit evolution!"
In a flash of light, the swirling power in his D-Tector and his heart began to disperse all around him in what looked like red binary coding. The code enveloped his form, swirling all over him, at first in a wide sphere and then slowly getting closer and closer to his skin. In an instant, his human skin was gone and replaced by red scales, his hands replaced by claws and he could see a red snout now form.
In the same split second, the sphere of red binary code evaporated into thin air and disappeared, leaving behind a red dinosaur monster in its wake instead of the blonde man, "Guilmon!"
His tail swished behind him as he stared down the Goblimon, now he was ready.

The guy managed to avoid the attack, thankfully, and then held his own digivice up in the air, proving that he was, indeed, a Spirit user. Both Ryou and Shou only watched as the guy proceeded to turn into a Digimon, as last time they met someone who could do that, they were too distracted to really watch the Digievolution happen.
That turned out to be a bad idea, at least, from Shou's part. The Goblinmon took advantage of the situation to smack him with his club, sending the Gladimon crashing into the playground's slide and leaving a dent on it, snapping Ryou out of his amazement of seeing someone transform into a Digimon.
"Shou!" He called out to his partner,
"I'm fine..." Shou responded, recovering from the impact and standing back up.

Oh fuck, Ry felt a little guilty for distracting his new ally from avoiding the Goblimon's attack. He watched as the goblin went straight for the Gladimon, smacking him far into the playground's slide, hitting straight on like a pro baseball player.
He felt guilty for letting the Goblimon do that to the Gladimon, as if he had a hand to play in it, and now he had to make up for it since his ally seemed to be a little out of commission. Well, now he can make up for it, now that he was finally able to tap into his power.
Ry snorted, a puff of flames coming out of his nostrils as he did that. Ry ran over in front of the Gladimon, to attract the Goblimon's attention, though he felt a little clumsy doing so as his reptile feet were definitely not made for running unlike his human feet. He roared in an attempt to divert the Goblimon's attention solely on him, as well as to give his ally time to get back up.
"Pyro Sphere!" Ry yelled out, a fireball forming in his mouth and then shot out towards the Goblimon. If it were to hit, the fireball would explode against the Goblimon, like a small grenade. Ry stared down the Goblimon, this time, he wouldn't let anything pass him by.

The fireball hit and, at this point, it looked like the Goblinmon was almost finished off. It still wasn't ready to give up, however, and retaliated by creating a fireball of its own and hitting with its club toward the Guilmon. Seeing that, Shou quickly got ouf the way in fear that it would hit him if his new ally ended up dodging the attack in time, as he was standing right between the two of them.
"He's almost done! Attack together!" Ryou instructed from his safe position away from all the fighting.
"Right!" Shou called out, already having recovered from the blow he took earlier. "X-Slash!"
Not wanting to end up getting in the way of his ally, Shou once again slash the air with his swords at the same time, releasing energy blade that flew straight towards the Goblinmon, assuming that his ally would go along with Ryou's instruction as well.

Ry felt a sense of power and pride when he saw the fireball hit the Goblimon and explode, but that was completely replaced with a sense of fear when he saw the green goblin retaliate with a fireball of his own.
He jumped out of the way but stumbled against his clawed feet, damn! His body was so clumsy, too clumsy for him to get used to. Who thought it was a good idea for lizard dinosaur digimon to have claws on their feet?
Though he managed to swerve out of the way of the fireball just in time, Ry caught some of the blow from the Goblimon's club. A strangled cry of pain came out of his jaws in response, but he managed to get himself upright enough to keep himself steady and launch another attack, just in time for his ally's attack as well.
Too close for an exploding fireball and afraid that he'd change the target if he were to strike the Goblimon head on, the Guilmon coated his claws with flame instead and struck down with a claw attack. From both the force of his ally's energy blades and his flamed claws, he hoped that would be enough to bring the goblin digimon down.
Ry glanced towards his new allies, once and if the Goblimon was brought down, and smiled as much as a lizard could smile, "Thanks for helping out," he said, "Glad you guys were there to keep me from not getting killed while I was in human form."

The combined forces of the attacks were enough to bring the Goblinmon down, whose body dissipated and left behind only a Digitama. Ryou sighed in relief that the whole ordeal was over, though he wasn't really sure what he was going to do now, seeing how there was another person-turned-Digimon right there for him to deal with and there was the matter of a Digimon egg being right there and he had no clue what to do with it, if anything.
"Are you alright?" Ryou asked, approaching the two Digimon now that the fighting is over.
"I already said yeah!" Shou replied, sounding a little annoyed at having to repeat himself.
"I meant him this time." Ryou pointed towards the Guilmon with his head.
"Oh. Okay..." Shou awkwardly rubbed the top of his round head and then looked at the Guilmon. "By the way, hi! I'm Shou and my tamer here is Ryou!" He gestured to the teenage boy who still just standing there. "Thanks for helping us out!"
"You really shouldn't make a habit of rushing in like that though." Ryou sighed with slight exasperation. "That could've been really ugly if you were just a second too late in reacting to those attacks.

Ry watched, still in Guilmon form, as the ball knight's tamer came over to the both of them. He dusted himself off with his claws, or attempted to, as it was quite hard to dust yourself off with claws. After a while, he left it be and focused his whole attentio to the two.
"Oh, yeah I'm alright, thanks for asking, are you alright as well?" he replied, the brunt of the Goblimon's attack earlier already forgotten. It was going to bruise the next morning, but it was definitely better than anything he could have received in his human form. Guess having a digimon's body was beneficial to him, "It's nice to meet you two, my name's Ry, and glad to have you guys help out when you did!"
Noticing the tamer's exasperation at his behaviour, the Guilmon cringed a little in response and shrugged, "Yeah, I've been told that I have a problem with uh..." he trailed off a little bit, "Recklessness. Sorry about that."
He glanced at the two and then glanced back at himself, "Now how do I turn myself back..." he muttered to himself, and then glanced back up and gave the two a small smile, "This is actually my second time in digimon form, so if you guys have any idea, I'd really appreciate it."
"How long have you two been partners, by the way?" he asked, "Just out of curiosity, I don't really know much about the tamer-digimon dynamic, to be honest, and, well, I don't know a lot about digimon myself even though I'm currently a digimon."

"Looks like nobody's hurt too bad then." Ryou exhaled in relief, scratching his head as he tried to process everything that had just happened. He still hadn't gotten used to all this crazy stuff.
So the guy's name was Ry and at least he was aware of his own recklessness, even if he didn't seem to be doing anything to improve in that aspect, judging by what just happened. Still, he didn't look like a bad guy, just a bit... overeager. A bit like Shou, in fact, except human... human that could become Digimon. This was so weird.
However, it didn't look like he knew how to turn himself back to human, as this was only the second time he turned into a Digimon. Well... Ryou really had no clue how this stuff worked, the only other time he saw someone do that, it had been her first time too.
"Well, what did you do the first time?" Ryou asked him back, figuring that would be the best way to arrive at an answer.
"We've been together for... a week?" Shou said, rubbing a finger across the side of his helmet-head. "Not very long!"
"We're just winging it really. I have no clue how any of this works. I haven't even looked into that whole Digital World thing yet."

Ry nodded appreciatively towards the two, acknowledging the relief that came over the three of them, "Yeah, no I'm not too hurt, a little bit conked out but nothing too bad. Gonna feel it in the morning though, now let's see..." he started muttering to himself, holding his claw out and waving it in the air, "Uh... come to me, D-Tector!" he exclaimed haughtily.
Nothing appeared. He sighed, "Sorry, you're gonna have to talk to me stuck in this form for a bit," he scratched the back of his head with his new clawed hands, "I'm still not used to spirit evolving yet, and my D-Tector is a little bit... temperamental."
"I don't exactly remember what I did to get this away, it just happened," Ry shrugged, "It took me a longer time than most to actually get into this form though, so I won't be surprised if it would take me a longer time too to actually have full control over it as well."
He glanced between the two, "A week is quite a long time, when you're dealing with digimon, oh, no offense," he said, glancing at the ball knight, "I've only been involved in this whole shit for two weeks now, but it feels like two years! There's been good stuff and bad stuff, but still."
"Have you never been to the Digital World yet, both of you?" he said, glancing back to the boy. The memories of his own experience in the Digital World returned to him, and they were... well, "My own time in the Digital World wasn't entirely that great, I had a bad first impression."
"Not that it's a bad place! I had some good time too, after all the bad stuff that happened," he chuckled nervously, "Just, well, if you're planning on heading there any time soon, be prepared for anything."
