Rare Encounter: Musicians With Jobs (Job)

Before long, time was marked by the digimon at the bar ringing the bell and calling "Last orders please!". There was a small queue forming for the final orders, but nothing particularly heavy was requested. Just some drinks and desserts.
When it was over and the dining floor began to clear, Monodramon called over the group to the bar, where they would await their evaluation.
Before long, they were joined by the other employees - the kitchen cooks, the other waiters, etc. Then they were joined by a cheerful looking Flawizarmon, who Roy guessed was the boss of this place.
"Great night out there everyone!" he said, then his eyes passed over Roy, Rex, Leith, Veemon and Shoutmon. "And good work to the temp staff too, that was some fancy music you played out there. Good stuff in dealing with those bozos as well. They're harmless, but eh, they can be a bother".
He would then reach into his pocket and pulled out some bits in cash. "Honest pay for honest work. Here you all go. And if you're free to do another shift sometime, you'd be welcome to".
"Thanks, mister!" Rex said as he and Roy put the money safely away in their tunics. Roy shared the sentiment. After paying Leith, Veemon and Shoutmon as well, Flawizarmon would address his regular staff.
"Well then, guess that's that for the night then" Roy said. "Thanks for helping Rex out there, guys" he smiled at the other dragons.
"Yeah!" Rex agreed. "Are you guys gonna stay around Rosewood for a while?" he tilted his head curiously.

After accepting payment graciously, Leith and Shoutmon gave each other a quick fist bump; they both noticed they'd been invited back, which was something they liked the idea of very much. Meanwhile Veemon responded to Roy's gratitude with, "Oh, no, it just felt like the right thing to do. I was happy to!"
"And I was happy to knock a couple bullies flat if I had an excuse for it!" Shoutmon added with a punch from one fist into his other palm.
Even Veemon had to admit, "...a little of that, too," slyly.
But Rex's question caught the trio off guard. This was something the group hadn't even considered. "Huh? Uh, we..." Leith's shoulders slumped a little; perhaps this was not a subject he really wanted to think about. During the awkward silence, Veemon tried to think of a way to cover for Leith, but he couldn't before the young man managed it himself. "...maybe. We're not sure yet. It depends on how some personal stuff goes." Specifically, 'personal stuff' was whether Leith could reconcile with his family, but the young man did his best to keep up a poker face when talking about it. "But you know what? I kinda like it... and that's comin' from a guy who hates travel."
"You guys are alright, though!" Veemon added with a grin, "And like Leith said, there's something about this place. If we don't stay here, we'll definitely visit often."
"I think it's the out-of-the-way forest setting. It's calm and kinda reminds me of the home I lived in longest. You know? Like that sweet spot between civilization and nature." Leith swallowed nervously before adding, "Still... I've got stuff to do. Think we'll stay a night, then see what happens, I guess." Leith stood then and threw both Rex and Roy a lazy little wave. "Either way, cool meeting you guys. It seems like the digital world is pretty small, at least social-wise. I bet we'll run into each other one way or another."

Roy and Rex had to agree on that point. "Yeah... there's something really nice about this town" Rex remarked, smiling at the surroundings of the log buildings sprouting from the woods, yet still holding enough respect for the forest to leave enough of it standing in between. The canopy above was almost undisturbed as the remaining tall trees still provided it, making Rosewood a green shady town by day, and sheltered from the elements at night.
"Yeah... there's a good town spirit here" Roy agreed. Well then, seemed they were now going to part ways. "Okay then, see ya!" Roy waved.
"Bye~" Rex said the same, and the two walked out of the inn. As they stood in the main street, they paused. "Oh, Roy, where are we gonna sleep tonight?" the Guilmon consulted his brother.
"Well, uh, where travellers normally sleep I guess" Roy answered. "In the Inn... that we just... walked out of" his voice wavered off and he blinked as he realized his mistake. Without saying a word, he turned around, then walked back into the inn.
"Yes, how can I help you?" Flawizarmon asked cheerfully.
"Uhh... sorry to bother you again, but can we please have a room for the night?" Roy asked, his cheeks blushing as red as Rex's hide.
"Of course you can" Flawizarmon grinned. "That's another perk of employment, you do good work and you get a room on top of the bargain. Same goes for your human friend and his partners. Here's your key, Room 19, there's beds for the both of you".
He would offer Leith the keys to room 20, which had the same. Well then, giving their thanks, Roy and Rex climbed the stairs to their room, where for the moment they would sleep for a bit, then consider their options the next day. As the dragon brothers took off their tunics and climbed into their beds they had some lingering thoughts.
"Hey, Roy..." the Guilmon spoke in the dim light. "Shoutmon, Veemon and their human partner are pretty cool. Do you think we could be friends with them?"
"Yeah... maybe" Roy answered. The music was great and he came to like Leith and the other dragons. Plus since they seemed to like Rosewood like them, maybe there was some common ground there? "Maybe we could ask tomorrow?"
With that, little more was said as the brothers went to sleep.

Leith had to snicker a little at Rex and Roy’s little flub, but it wasn’t malicious; the young Tamer could certainly think of a time or two he’d done the same or similar. Leith wasn’t snickering when offered a key by Flawizarmon, though; he looked more of a combination between grateful and confused. Nevertheless he accepted it with a soft, “Oh... thank you.” Not having to spend that cash on lodging that night was actually a real relief, so much so that he almost felt guilty about it... almost, this time, though. ‘Holy-‘ he thought, ‘What a sweet gig! Most I ever got in the real world was a couple hundred bucks and a sore neck, and the average is more like 20 bucks and an empty room.’
The trio wasn’t far behind the El Doradimon brothers on their way upstairs; Leith wasn’t one who really cared for staying up late. Just before they were out of the sight of the bar, though, he noticed Shoutmon wasn’t behind him. Crouching a little, he was able to catch Shoutmon still hanging around by the bar. “Hey! Shout, you comin’?”
“Nah, I’m good!” The red dragon dismissed.
“Dude, they’re closed. You’re not getting anything else.”
“...right. I knew that.” But, in fact, he did not remember that. “But, uh, suddenly I feel really tired! Gonna hit the hay.”
“Good call,” Leith agreed with a deadpan voice, watching Shoutmon hop up from the bar and join him upstairs.
[Leith, Veemon, and Shoutmon have left the scene.]
