It was a truly beautiful morning, the sun was bright, the breeze of the wind was calm and nice. It was a lively day for sure, as Kazuya and Roy went to the village of the beginnings, they searched for answers. But no matter who they ask, the location of Roy's past brothers in arms remains a well kept mystery. But no matter, neither of the two were going to let that dampen their mood. As they decided to take a well deserved break and stay at a lovely little inn not too far off from the village, but not too close either.
Once inside you would find the place to feel nice, it was a familiy friendly atmosphere with a bunch of baby digimon roaming around. The sound of the babamon conducting a lesson was the dominant voice around, followed by the bunch of kids learning. The decorations inside was made out of wood exclusively, with a bunch or chairs and tables. Over all it was a good place for anyone wanting a break, as the gatomons and floramons working there helped to satisify everyone who sought refuge. The owner of the place was a Lilamon currently on her office doing some paper work, but even then she helps by using one of her abilities that emits a beautiful aroma that envelops the whole inn.
All of those lovely elements helped sell the place for Kazuya and Royland, as the tall dark haired man ordered a cup of tea and took it to an empty table and chair. There he took out a comic book titled Blade of the immortal, it followed the story of a samurai named manji as he was cursed with immortality. The only sound that Kazuya would make will be the usual sound of him placing the cup on the table after taking a sip, he was too focused on his book. But there was an empty seat next to him, it was open to anyone who wanted to sit next him.
As for Royland he can be found leaning on a wall crossing his arms, as he heard the babamon's lesson. It was about evolutions, he did not need it as he reached mega in his previous. But it was a nostalgic sight, as he remembered the days were him and his friends were tought by a Jijimon, who gave them a similar lesson. This overwhelming nostalgic feel made Roy tiny lips curl up to a wonderful smile, he looked over the bright and hopeful eyes of the young innocent digimons. Hopefully he can enjoy this peaceful day for as long as possible.

From the direction of the village, not too far from the inn, a pair of greenhorn adventurers approached, one short, one tall. The taller of the two was a blonde-haired, blue-eyed, bespectacled human boy in a black baseball cap, just barely old enough to be considered a legal adult in many parts of the world. The shorter was a Veemon wearing a grey ivy cap. The boy's face was slightly red, as if just getting over a bout of tears, now smiling and enjoying the walk, as his partner had managed to soothe him. The young man breathed in through his nose, attempting to catch another breath of the crisp morning air to cleanse out his senses. The two walked in silence now, walking wherever the breeze took them, not caring about a destination. They were simply exploring, after all. After not too much longer, they came across a lone, wooden inn.
"Ah, an inn," said the lad.
"It's morning," reminded his partner.
"Well, maybe we could procure breakfast."
"We already had breakfast."
"Have we?"
"Hmm..." the small blue dragon looked at the ground in thought. "Actually, I'm not quite sure. It's been nothing but a mess of 'eating whenever we're hungry' lately."
"Well, then. Are we hungry?"
"I think so."
"Then perhaps we could procure a meal."
"Sounds like a plan."
With that, they both entered the place, noting the pleasant scent that wafted throughout as came inside. The Veemon noticed the abundance of baby digimon within. Perhaps it was an extension, or companion of some kind, to the Village of Beginnings, which they had recently visited for the first time. Their visit was cut short by the human boy making a sudden announcement that he was uncomfortable there, and desired to leave. He had broken down in tears as they walked away. This had also cut short the Veemon's intention to ask more about what a digimon "childhood" should have been like, but the digimon figured it was for the best; hearing all about the answer would do little more than make him envious of his brethren, who had all been born without incident in the correct location. The Veemon thought to ask his partner, "Alan, will you be all right?"
"I think so," replied Alan. "I just won't think about it too much." He looked around the room for something to think about besides the bright-eyed infants, and what immediately caught his eye was a human man, sitting at a nearby table, sipping tea and reading manga. Alan nearly chuckled at how unordinarily ordinary the scene was. Under normal circumstances, he would have been far more shy around a total stranger, but this was a special case; he had been decidedly upset about something, and this nonchalant man seemed to be the only person here completely unconcerned with whatever he was upset about. Therefore, he stepped up to the man's table, eyed the comic he was reading (it was nothing he recognized,) and... there was no time like the present. He had made friends with strangers in inns before. At least once, anyway. Alan cleared his throat, and spoke:
"Uh... hey there."

The beautiful atmosphere, the tasty and rich aroma of the tea and the story he found himself invested in. All of these elements helped Kazuya be in a relaxed and happy mood, despite the future weight of the answers him and his partner sought. He would continue to read his seinen (for adults) comic book, as he flipped through its pages and took a sip from his tea, he continued to remain uninterrupted, for a while. As most digimon pass him by without ever engaging him. He was happy with that, as he believed he needed some time to wind back and take some time for reflection.
But that alone time was short lived, as not a long while after Kazuya would hear the voice of someone calling to him. He would peak from his book without closing the book, he would see a boy, blonde hair with what seems like facial features that do not belong to japanese people, so a quick assumption was made and Kazuya thought the boy was not japanese. The second thing he noticed was the boy is really nervous, something Kazuya took pity off and made him decide to be nice to the boy. He then closed the book and placed it on the table infront of him, he then gave a thoughtful and warm smile.
"Sorry, I was invested in my book. My name is Kazuya Oda, it's a pleasure to meet you. A lovely day today, isn't it ? This place is perfect for those who seek a good rest."
The man said his warm expression was calm and reassuring. He then saw the little impy blue digimon
"Is this your partner ? Nice to meet you too."
Roy noticed the people who approached his partner, he decided to let Kazuya deal with them now. As he intended to listen to the lesson of the babamon till the end, and it was almost done.

As was unintentionally routine for Alan when treated kindly by strangers, the boy blushed slightly, and spent a few seconds enjoying a warm buzzing feeling in his chest, before remembering he had a conversation to start and hold. "It's a pleasure to meet you, too! I'm Alan. Uh... Alan Pantell. Yeah, it is nice, and I can..." He gave the room another glance. "I can see what you mean."
"Kazuya Oda..." he repeated to himself, intending not to forget the name. Then, he raised his left hand parallel to the ground, palm facing up, and placed his right index finger on the open hand, as if writing something, and looked at Kazuya. "How do you spell that?" He smiled for but a moment, instantly doubting himself and feeling the need to specify, "I-I'm joking," before looking down at the floor.
Levi, who had been remaining silent up to this point, perked up when Kazuya inquired about him. "Yep!" he cheered, tipping his hat as he introduced himself. "The name's Levi! Pleasure to meet you, too!"
"So..." continued Alan, folding his hands together, "...were you in the middle of something?" For some reason, this caused Levi to crack up.
"Ha! Heh heh, come on, Alan!" The Veemon turned to face Kazuya again. "What he meant to say was 'is this seat taken?'"
Alan scratched the back of his head with one hand and nodded, offering a shy smile. "Y...yeah. Hah. What he said..."

Upon further inspection and with the knowledge of his name, Alan Pantell. Kazuya was sure that this boy was not Japanese. It honestly did not matter at all, it was just an interesting observation that he made. He then smiled and nodded at the young boy, but then was confused when Alan asked him for the spelling of his name. His countenance was genuinely shocked and confused, it took him a second but he got his answer ready. But then Alan announced that it was just a joke, he then chuckled. To think he actually almost fell for Alan's joke, after stopping his chuckle Kazuya turned towards Alan.
"Heh, I almost thought you were serious and I almost gave you the spelling. Good one Alan." He said with a delighted smile on his face, he then turned towards Levi and gave him a nod. " nice to meet you Levi, the pleasure is all mine." Kazuya then took his cup and had one sip from it as he enjoyed the tea, before placing the cup back down. He then looked at Alan and Levi before shaking his head left and right.
"Well no, I was just with my partner as we were taking a break from a long task. But yeah no one is here, so please enjoy yourselves. So what brought you two here today ?" Kazuya asked as he intended to engage the two in conversation.
Royland was done with the lesson as he smiled at the trip down memory lane, he decided to walk up and greet the two strangers that are talking to his tamer.
"Hey you two what do you want with my tamer ? Are you looking for trouble......Bahahahahaha I am just kidding." He said as he busted out into laughter and tapped Levi's shoulder. "Hehe I was messing around, the name is Royland, I am Kazuya's partner digimon nice to meet you two. "
"Royland this is Alan Pantell and Levi." Kazuya pointed at the two respectively, and Roy bowed to both of them. "So Levi I see you are a Veemon, that's so awesome. That must mean you are a good brawler, man Veemon's are awesome. So were you born in the dragon valley ? " Roy energetically engaged Levi not as a stranger but as a close friend, and his body language displayed a familiarity with Levi that usually takes time for others to be comfortable.

"Ah, I'm, uh, sorry if I confused you," said the awkward tamer, "I didn't think out that joke very well... nevermind." Alan took Kazuya up on his offer, and sat beside him, while Levi remained standing. "Thank you. We're not here for any reason in particular. We're rather new at this 'tamer and partner' thing, so we've been exploring what we can of the digital world, to get familiarized with the place. We just went to the Village of Beginnings for the first time."
Both Alan and Levi were caught off guard by the approaching Spadamon's pretend aggression, sighing with relief when he, too, announced his jocular intentions. "Oh," said Alan, feeling foolish, "of... of course you were. Right. Good morning!"
"Nice to meet you, Royland," greeted Levi, before the white, armored digimon began to act super friendly and familiar towards him. Alan noticed that Levi was tense. Though he was usually the one that helped Alan along in social interaction, it was true that Levi never really did that much of the talking. It didn't help that Royland was coming on so strongly. He appreciated that the digimon was so sociable, but...
"P-Please, slow down!" Levi called out meekly. "I'm flattered, but I... really wouldn't know about the brawling thing, and I... also don't know about birthplace." The Veemon looked down and pressed his index fingers together, contemplating what to say next. "Oh! I don't want you to think I'm upset about it or anything! I just... wasn't... paying much attention to it? I guess? Eheh..."

Kazuya chuckled as he gestured with his hand that it was okay, he really did not take offence to Alan's Joke. "No its fine Alan, I assume you are not japanese but in fact a westerner, so it would have been natural if you did not know how to spell my name." He said as he listened to Alan as he mentioned that he was new, he could understand his curiously about the world as not so long ago Kazuya was also a new under experinced rookie, and in a sense Kazuya was still a rookie. But he was definitely more informed about the digital than your average person, thanks to his partner Royland.
"I see well, I will give you the tip my partner gave me. Stick to the main cities and heavily populated places in the beginning and things will go smoothly for you, just like it did with me. " Kazuya offered a piece of advice, by now he thought that Alan might have already heard it but it was worth saying anyways.
Royland would laugh as he saw that the two new friends have been caught off guard by his joke, he wasn't the type to start fights quickly anyways. So it was good that both of them accepted his joke. "Ahahaha Levi, slowing down is fine. I will only accept because you asked so nicely." Royland energetic and lively personality helped him make a lot of friends, but it can also make him intimidating.
"nonsense, you are probably a really good fighter Levi. I can sense it, I have a great battle instincts. I am a great warrior, I once hit a digimon so hard I saved them from mind control. So I could tell you are strong, probably not as strong as me the mighty Sir Royland bahahaha! " he said Jokingly, he was enjoying himself, the look on his face conveyed that in a clear fashion.
He then look at Levi with confusion, "Why would I think that man ? It's ok to be harsh on yourself my good lad, cheer up a smile suits you better ok ? " Royland said as he noticed Levi being shy and worried, and if there is one thing Royland likes is having people smile and laugh, he did not want anyone to look sad around him.

"Well, I may not know how to speak Japanese," said the boy, "but if there's one thing I do know, it's how to spell things... provided kanji isn't involved." He emphasized his point by tracing with his finger on the table "Oda Kazuya" in katakana, mouthing the syllables as he mimed writing each one:
"オダ カズヤ"
"Anyway," continued Alan, "that advice is actually the logic I've been following so far, but it's nice to hear confirmation that it was a good choice to make!"
Meanwhile, Levi was still a bit stuck on trying to gather himself. He could tell Royland didn't mean to make him feel uncomfortable, but still... the joking, the hearty laughing, the compliments Levi couldn't be quite convinced he deserved, all weighed in a bit thick on his mind.
"Yeah... probably not as strong... listen. I'm not saying this out of a lack of confidence. I'm saying that I actually wouldn't know if you were right about me being strong. I've never been in a fight."
"He can deliver a mean kick, though," added Alan, simultaneously as a tease and sincerely.
"Alan!"
"What? It was impressive!"

Kazuya listened as Alan attempted to prove that he can actually spell his name, and Kazuya wasn't mean but he honestly did not expect Alan to actually. But he watched the boy write it down with an entertained smile, the raven haired gentleman was ready to tell Alan that he got it wrong, in a nice and respectful way of course. But alas much to his suprise, Alan got it right incredibly so. Kazuya smiled and turned to look at the boy.
"Wonderful, you nailed it. Japanese can be a hard language to learn if you are not a native, but if you invest in it enough you will find that its an interesting language. As you can tell, I speak both English and Japanese. I am also learning french at the moment, learning the subtle differenes in languages can help you understand the differences in culture. Fascinating isn't it Alan ?" Kazuya said with a confident look as he got interested in the boy as the conversation went on, he then leaned back on the chair, as he took a more dominant position with more comfortable body language, combine that with the height difference and from the offset it looks like Kazuya prescence is towering over Alan's.
"I see, well you seem like a logical young man. So of course you will come to that conclusion, you should continue to play it safe like that for now. Learn from all the people you can meet there, there is no shame in recieving help from others. As a matter of fact one of the people who helped me when I first got here was a young boy called Colin." Kazuya said as he remembered the young boy and wondered what him and his twin partners are doing.
Roy looked confused at Levi, a digimon who hasn't been on a battle before ? Now thats rare sight to him, as combat shaped Royland's life ever since he was but a kid. "I see? Well I am pretty sure you would have some potential as a fighter, but we won't know unless you fight. But I can offer you some tips Levi, if you want me to ofcourse." Royland said with an honesty and brightness that were hard to match as his vibrant nature shined bright, as opposed to Kazuya's more calm and reserved aura.

"I agree," said Alan, "although I still know next to nothing regarding speaking the language, the cultural differences are what make me so intrigued by it." He didn't mind Kazuya's shift in body language since they had already gotten a decent conversation going. For the most part, however, he gladly listened to the man fondly remember his encounter with a boy named Colin. "Colin." Hmm. Alan decided he'd remember that name, if for no reason other than that it was a name to remember. "Hey, it's Colin!" he'd think to himself, "That kid Kazuya mentioned one time!" As far as he was concerned, that made him a celebrity.
Levi was considering Royland's offer.
"Fighting tips? It's true that I'm gonna need the experience eventually... but..." he looked at his hands, weakly balling them into fists, one at a time. "...could any tips really prepare me for when I have to use them for the first time...?"

Kazuya smiled at Alan, he was happy to learn that the glasses boy agreed with him. Seeing how human beings who live across the world from each other can have some similarities and their differences was one of the few things that actually intrigued Kazuya, the desire to learn more about the world is a basic human desire that only ignorant people lack, because they think they know enough, or that's how Kazuya chose to believe. "Yes exactly, and if you managed to spell my name that easily, you should be able to speak Japanese in no time, all you need is some practice. In fact I could improve my English by practising more, don't you think Alan ?" Kazuya said with a smirk on his face as he placed his hand on his chin, he never really thought about if his english was good or not, all this talk about language mad him wonder.
Royland crossed his arms and tilted his head, he thought about Levi's words and closed his eyes for a moment. "I guess you are right Levi, but what would work ?." After a quick moment he opened his eyes and raised the index finger of his right hand, the look on his face was that of an excited boy. "I got it! This is going to be a very fun idea, how about we have a spar ? It'd be fun and I can teach Levi first hand, there is no better training than actual combat. So what do you guys think ? " Royland offered as he did not want to force his will but Royland was clearly excited at idea of combat.

Alan's face lit up at Kazuya's words. It was encouraging to hear them from some one who was actually Japanese themselves. "Heh. Thank you for the vote of confidence, Kazuya," he said, "and I think you've been speaking English just fine, but it doesn't mean practice can't make you even better!" It was then that the boy's attention was caught by the Spadamon speaking up from his own conversation. "Hm? A sparring match, you say?"
Levi hadn't truly given the idea much thought until now. Sparring? The idea made the Veemon nervous, but it only made sense that it would. He hadn't fought in any battles before, after all, so any fighting he did would be bound to be a step outside of his comfort zone. It was all the more reason why it was a good idea: a friendly bout, held in a low-stakes environment, for the purposes of fun and learning. Not to mention, Royland's outgoing personality was finally beginning to grow on him.
"Y-yes, a sparring match!" he said to his human partner. "I said I wouldn't let you be harmed, and I intend to live up to those words, but I can't very well do that with no combat experience! So I think this is a great opportunity!" Levi said these words with confidence, hoping it wouldn't suddenly fade on him before he could actually spar.
"That's a good point..." replied Alan, giving the suggestion a once-over in his head, "and if you both want to do it, then I see no issue! What do you think, Kazuya?"

Kazuya smiled at Alan's words, it was indeed a treat to hear someone valdiate your lingustics skills especially if there are actually natives to the language. "Thank you, your kind words are much appreciated Alan. May we both continue to improve" Kazuya simply said as he leaned backwards on his chair, the man was having his fun talking to Alan he seemed like a nice enough young boy maybe impressionable, but thats a given when you are at a young age.
Kazuya then scratched his chin when Roy mentioned a sparring match, he was initially skeptical about this idea. It was not until he saw Roy's face and witnessed the pure conviction in it. Royland noticed about Levi and he wants to help him, Kazuya nodded. "Yeah we should do it, I do not see any harm in it ? Don't you agree Alan ?" Kazuya turned towards Alan with a sheepish grin, the golden eyed man couldn't help but agree, after all they came here to uncover the mysteries of Roy's past if he chose to pause it to help Levi and Alan then who is he to say no.
Royland then nodded at Levi, his words were nice and were exactly the thing Roy hoped Levi would say. "I see you also think so Levi, listen I would love to tell that you won't need to fight other digimon, but this is not the world we live in, so you will need to gain experience and I will help you with that."
Kazuya then turned to Alan and nodded to him firmly, it was good to see that Alan and Levi did not turn down Roy's offer. "So shall we go, if I am not mistaken there should be a location we cam have this spar not so far from here."

Alan nodded and smiled to Kazuya's well-wishes, and offered a simple "indeed!" in return. He was relieved to see that everyone else, including Kazuya, seemed to be on board with the idea of a sparring match between Royland and Levi. At the same time, the young man couldn't help but be worried about his draconic friend. Ever since Levi had been reunited with him, the Veemon had been growing exponentially closer to him. Of course, this was a good thing. Each night they found themselves nestled just a bit closer to each other, and it was wonderful. However, Levi had previously voiced his fears to him: each time he thought about it, Levi couldn't stand the thought of hurting others, and wondered if, as a digimon, that meant there was anything wrong with him. Alan had told him that he wasn't sure how he'd approve of a partner who didn't have qualms about harming others. Alan hoped this hadn't been a bad word choice. Nevertheless, Alan restated his agreement with the sparring idea.
Trying not to show that any of this was on his mind, Levi thanked Royland for his generosity. The Spadamon was right, after all. Levi would have to do this eventually, as he always tried to remind himself.
"Thank you so much, Royland. So, where are we going, exactly?"

Kazuya smiled and nodded, Alan seemed like a fairly nice guy. So maybe having his quite tea time interrupted by this boy was not a bad thing after all. Kazuya never really saw himself and Roy as teachers, but here they are again playing that role, first for Eleonora and her two partners Gurren and Lagann. This time it's Alan and Levi, its strange how fate works for the golden eyed man and his partner doesn't it ? But now is not the time to ponder about the machinations of forces that are beyond the realm of the understanding of mortals. Kazuya got up from his seat and turned towards Alan, with a gentle smile on his face he said. "Well then shall we go then ? I think I know where Roy is gonna take us. " Kazuya knew his partner well enough or at least he thought so.
Royland then chuckled as Levi asked his question, he had the perfect location in mind and luckily for everyone involved it was not so far from here. "Actually we are not going to have go very far from here, if my knowledge is still correct, there should be a training ground near here. The terrain there should provide me with enough things to teach the basics of combat, but we would have to have a walk to get there. But I have an idea to make that easier, do you know what I am talking about Kazuya ?" Royland turned towards his partner with an inquisitive look, he wanted to surprise Alan and Levi with something he thought would be cool.
Kazuya nodded and gestured for everyone to leave the inn, and once the group was outside Kazuya took out his digivice and turned towards Alan. "Watch carefully Alan, take this as a lesson in case your unfamiliar. In this world there are items that grant digimon special powers they are called digimental or armor eggs, I have found myself in the position of one of those items. Now witness their power, Royland Armor evolve." Kazuya said as he pointed his device towards Royland, the lion began to be covered with an intense light, Kazuya shielded himself from it as he did not want to harm his eyes by looking directly at it. When the light disappeared, Royland spadamon's form was replaced by a new form. IceLiamon
" Ride on me" Royland said before bursting into laughter, even though this new form was intense and ferocious. The goofy light hearted demeanour was still there. " Did you guys get that reference ? I sure hope you did." Royland said with a big smile on his face, meanwhile Kazuya placed his hand on his face as he was disappointed that his lesson was interrupted with a silly joke. "But yeah get on up, I will take you guys there quickly. So we can begin our lesson." Royland said with a smile as he lowered his body for every one to get on top of him, Kazuya was the first to do so as he waited for the others.
