Rapport in Dark Blue (Archon)

Archon quickly finished off his own pizza slice as Levi finished his. He chuckled at the explanation. "Heh, thinkin' of being all tsundere eh? The 'B-be gentle s-senpai' type are ya?" he winked. But Levi seemed to be more straightforward about it, just how he liked. There were a few of those types in the Dark Area, but, Archon often found them boring, having to go through the same charade every time just to squeeze out an ounce of friendship or emotional bonding.
The BlackVeemon grinned. "Alrighty, then a date it is" he said, taking a drink, then considered how they should continue since Levi seemed to be something of a novice here. "Maybe try and dial back the compliments though? We've done enough of that I reckon, we both seem to like each other, so, how 'bout we get to know each other a little better?"
Archon then leaned back in his chair, regarding Levi curiously. He noted that he had a human partner, and since he had only met one human so far, he was interested to hear about what that was like. "So, you got a human partner, eh?" he asked, tilting his head. "What's that like? I mean, not much humans come to the Dark Area, and, of course the ignorant morons there think humans are evil, but, I don't think that. But... as a digimon your power's linked to him, so, yeah, what's that like?"
Personally Archon would have hated the feeling of being beholden to another person just to get stronger. But he wanted to know Levi's point of view.

Levi laughed out loud at Archon's initial response. "Ha! Yeah, I guess that is how I always thought of myself, but it turns out that kind of attitude only works when everything's scripted, and you know exactly who's supposed to be romancing each other. Meanwhile, in real life, people can just romance someone who, you know, isn't incredibly rude and standoffish. I already kinda told you how well being a form of 'tsundere' worked out for me. I like this approach better."
It was hard for Levi not to show how happy he was. Suddenly, he was on his first date. More than anything, he was excited that someone, who he had seen fit to date, saw fit to date him. He wasn't quite sure if there were any rules on the subject, but he supposed he should wait until after the first date before considering Archon his "boyfriend," even if it was a nice thought. They would start by getting to know each other - an important step indeed.
"You know what? Good point. I wanna get to know you better, too."
Upon trying to think of an answer to Archon's first question, Levi became acutely aware of how much of the tamer and partner relationship he had yet to experience.
"Um... well... I've enjoyed having a partner so far... but, to be honest, I don't think I'm the one you want to ask about power. We're both still inexperienced, so digivolution and stuff like that hasn't really come into play. Weirdly enough, I've been told that I have enough power to digivolve to champion. I guess it just hasn't happened yet. I know for a fact Alan means well, though! So don't worry about that part. Eheheh. I'll definitely get back to you on that once it happens. There's so much I don't know... but... is there anything else you wanna try asking? I want to ask you some questions, too, but I'm not sure what I'd ask. However, I am super curious about what it's like living in the Dark Area, if there's anything else you're willing to share."

Archon found himself nodding to Levi's opinion about that. "Yeah, that's pretty much right by my books" the BlackVeemon agreed. "The best way to play is just to play how you really are, that's how I like things". Any other way was pointless and frustrating in his opinion. And Archon intended to play things forward and honest. At least, now, that he felt that he could be accepted as he truly was here in Rosewood. Especially now with another digimon that seemed to like him.
Archon was glad that Levi accepted the first terms of their 'date'. The BlackVeemon took a smaller slice of pizza as he listened to Levi talk about himself a little, finishing it by the time he finished. So, Levi liked having a human partner, that was his first surprise. It seemed like a mutual relationship. But, of course, it seemed that there was much for Levi and his partner to learn, so Archon didn't press much further onward.
As he finished his latest slice of pizza, Levi then asked Archon what it was like living in the dark area. At once, a swarm of bad thoughts seemed to snake in toward the BlackVeemon, but, in an instant, he dispelled them all. Such thoughts were not productive here. Instead, he would answer with only positives.
"To be honest? The best thing about living there is... if it's in your power, you can do it, without shame or consequence" he answered. "Whether it's a hobby, a wish, a goal, as long as you can get strong enough, you can do it, and fuck everyone that opposes you, 'cause you did it, and they can just go to hell afterward". He forced a laugh, because this goal was of course only attainable by the strongest, but, Archon thought he was pretty freaking strong, and would one day be able to get what he wanted there. But, for this moment, he'd prefer to get to know the order that was on the main continent of the digital world. It would probably be a while before he'd want to return to the place he fled.

Levi was slowly chewing his own slice of Pizza, considering Archon's words. His face scrunched up momentarily.
He means 'over,' right? I'm sure he does; it's not important, he thought, swallowing his bite.
"Huh. Interesting. That freedom... what you like about the Dark Area... sounds kinda like what I like about the Digital World. That said, based on what you're saying, you're talking specifically about people who might have hobbies or goals that are either usually frowned upon, or require overcoming others, regardless of actual morality. Er, I'm not sure exactly what I mean, but... I guess I've never had a wish with the kind of 'consequences' that could get in the way of it. So do you have one? A hobby, a wish, or a goal? That you're comfortable talking about. That's a given. Doesn't even have to be one that can only be achieved in in environment like the Dark Area. Just something you like to, or want to do."

Archon gave a sympathetic smile at Levi at his observation. Yeah, Archon had worded his answer to be positive, but, there was a whole lot of negative behind it too. Yeah, in the Dark Area, everyone could fuck over whoever they wanted, whether it be dispatching a rival or just stomping on someone for the fun of it. In truth, Archon hated that. But, in his existence there in his life, at least nobody judged him for his decisions, as he so often heard would happen if he ever ventured to the main continent of the digital world.
"I do have a goal actually" the BlackVeemon said, taking one of the few remaining slices of pizza, munching on it contentedly, then swallowing. "I wanna get strong enough to make my own mark on the history of the digital world".
He crossed his legs after he finished the slice. "I don't think I'm any kinda 'revolutionary' or 'rebel' or whatever, that goes around spouting shit like "This world is imperfect... if only I could wipe away the imperfections", no, that ain't me. But... just a place where a digimon can hatch, grow up without bein' bothered, learn what they can, then spend their talents on makin' the world a good place, you know?"
Archon took another swig of his drink, then landed his glass heavily on the table. "I wanna find out how this world works, then use that to give every digimon the chance to thrive, from those pious bastards up in Luminas to lowlife Dark Area shits like me. You get what I'm sayin' here?"
Archon probably shouldn't drink anymore from this point on if he still wanted to remain coherent. He awaited Levi's answer with curiosity. After all, he hoped his ambitions wouldn't get in the way of their friendship.

The Veemon found, through listening to Archon's goal, that he was very interested in what was being said. He wasn't sure why, but this goal sounded familiar to him, like he had heard it somewhere before, albeit worded differently. Perhaps it was Cion? No, there were some important differences here. It sounded a lot more similar to...
"I... think that might be my goal, too. I never could agree with those who say they want to make the world perfect," he began. "I never believed in a true 'paradise' or 'utopia,' but that has nothing to do with cynicism. For many people, myself included, flawlessness is the biggest flaw a world can have. So I don't wish for a world where everyone is happy. Instead, I wish for a world where everyone is able to be happy."
Levi cleared his throat.
"At least, that's my attempt at putting it into words. Alan and I both follow that kinda reasoning. We want to become stronger as much as anyone else, so we can do more with more confidence, but at the moment, we're inexperienced, and we know it, so we're being cautious. We tend to stay in cities and towns unless accompanied by someone else. As a result, I get the impression that we're going a lot slower than other people have. I was told a while ago I was strong enough to become a champion, but I've only ever been in one fight. A training spar. Apparently, I'm better at this than I thought, but, always still a lot to learn. I've... already forgotten what my point was. I think it was that... I want to make this world better for everyone, too, but I want to explore the world before trying to change it."

Archon liked where this conversation was going, especially in that Levi agreed with him. "Yeah... lot of digimon can say that, but, somethin' like this is easier said than done, right?" he asked, giving a sigh. "Ya can't please everyone, and a place where everyone gets the chance to be happy..." he halted himself from saying anything further on that. After all, he wanted to learn more about Levi, not go off on some rant.
He listened to the rest of Levi's words. Apparently he and his partner were inexperienced in things. That made Archon lean back and sigh a little. He wished he had the luxury of growing up like these guys had, not in the dark area. But he relaxed, took a sip of his drink, then looked forward again.
"Well, nice stuff there" he said, realizing this conversation wasn't really making him happy or informed. So he'd try another route. "So, what's somethin' you enjoy doin', Levi? Got any hobbies?".
He thought he'd be generous to lead off with his own. "Mine is rock collectin'" he admitted. "Of course, had to leave my old collection behind, but, hopin' to make a new one here".
He wondered how Levi would take that. A bit of a whiplash from life goals, certainly, but, it was honestly something that Archon enjoyed doing. Nothing better than finding a glimmering dark red crystal on the ground and figuring out what it was later. He'd take it to a Blastmon he knew to ask what it was and he usually knew. The DarkVeemon liked memories like that. Even if old man Blastmon was the same type of nasty bitter old prick he was used to in the dark area, at least he always gave an honest answer to Archon with that.
Returning to the present though, he wondered what Levi liked doing.

Levi cocked his head to the side. "Rock collecting?" he asked, smiling. "I love it! I often joke that I'm easily entertained, but I love enjoying the smaller details! I don't collect 'em, but I've stopped to admire rocks before, even pebbles, so I think it's cool you collect 'em! Heh, if I stumble across a crystal, or a geode, and I'm sure it's not dangerous, I might send it your way."
He placed his head in his hand and shifted his gaze to no spot in particular on the ceiling to his left.
"Now, my hobby... hmm... I never really thought about what it is, but I'm sure I have one... oh! I like puzzles in most forms; whatever I can get my hands on! Well... not jigsaw puzzles. Searching through a pile of a thousand pieces isn't very fun or engaging. But there are a lot of these... 'toys,' I guess, with these plastic pieces, and a deck of numbered cards with different ways you can arrange them for a new puzzle to solve. Like, there's one with a bunch of cars, one with a bunch of towers that you tip over to make a path, and, well, this one's not really a puzzle, per se, but I've also seen one thing that was a see-through plastic sphere with a little metal ball rolling around inside of it, and a huge mesh of obstacles, and you had to move the sphere around in your hands to guide the ball to the goal without dropping it off of the pathways... ah, am I rambling?"
Levi scratched the back of his head, thinking of something else to say or ask.
"I, uh... also like listening to music..." He trailed off, deciding it was time to hand the conversation back over. "Anyway... I'm curious about your collection. I know we can't go see it, but what kinda rocks did you add to it? Did you have some sort of criteria for determining what you collected?"
He put on a smile and leaned in a bit closer, trying to show that he was genuinely interested, and not just asking to be polite. He always liked hearing people talk about what they're passionate about, especially as someone who did so much talking about that himself.

Archon had to admit, another person showing interest in what he was interested in, that felt neat. He'd listen back about how Levi enjoyed puzzles. Apparently there were some things the humans had called 'toys'. He didn't know what plastic was. In the dark area everything was made of metal, timber, stone or leather, but he did know about cards.
Archon blinked a little, taking a drink as Levi finished what he was saying. "Sounds fun. What's a car though?" he asked.
Levi then asked what rocks he had managed to collect. "Well... a bunch of quartz crystals for one" he said. "They're common, but I like 'em, even got some in different colors". There was even a large one he had tried to carefully try and drill a hole through so he could wear it on his neck. He had failed though and the crystal had shattered, so he knew not to do that anymore. Blastmon had told him that he needed a jeweller to make a proper mount, and he wasn't likely to be able to afford one in the dark area.
"There was also an amethyst geode" he added. "And... there was my favorite one, it looked like a deep red gemstone. I thought it was the biggest ruby I'd ever seen, but Blastmon told me that it was a garnet. Still, after I did some chores for him, he cut it into a proper stone for me and let me keep it".
Archon looked at Levi's eyes as he spoke. He realized that was probably why he had taken a liking to this other Veemon, those eyes were the same color as his favorite garnet.
"Shame it's lost now though, would've loved to take that to a jeweller to make somethin' of it" he sighed. "Welp, all I can do is find another one".

"Oh, cars," said Levi, the realization that Archon didn't know what a car was giving him a slight jolt, though he took care not to look taken aback. "Humans use 'em to travel along designated pathways to get places faster. They're not a completely foreign concept to the digital world; I saw a store I went to a while ago that had some for sale."
His eyes seemed to sparkle with the images of each stone as Archon described them, an array of gorgeous colors dancing across his mind, as he thought about the BlackVeemon collecting them. From what Levi had understood, life in the Dark Area must have been exceedingly draining, so as he pictured each crystal, he could almost feel what each one must have meant to him. A small speck of joy hidden somewhere within a world that had seemed to lack it. All the more, he felt a tinge of sadness when he thought of how the collection had been lost. That garnet he had lost... surely it would have made a beautiful necklace... surely the sentimental value would have only made it glisten brighter. When Archon finished speaking, Levi lightly pushed down on the table, barely lifting himself from his chair.
"Ooooooh! I want to help you look for one! Then we can take it to a jeweler! And then we can get stronger! And then... when we're strong enough... we can go get the old one back!" Levi sat back down, suddenly seeming mildly embarrassed that he was so moved by someone talking about their hobby. "Y-you know, if it hasn't been... looted... yet. Eheheh. I... know I said I'd lay off the compliments, but I hope you don't mind me saying... I think any jewelry that means that much to you would look great on you." This time, his smile was more subdued, speaking to the black dragon not out of his crush, but out of his desire to see people happier in whatever way he can help make possible.

"So, those are cars huh?" Archon asked, taking the last of his half of the pizza, eating while Levi talked. "Huh, and they have them on this continent too huh? I wouldn't mind seein' one". He washed down the last of the pizza with the rest of his drink, feeling kinda content for the moment. He couldn't help but smile at Levi's suggestion they find another one. Not in a cynical way either, just, this was probably the first conversation he'd ever had with someone that sounded like they were forming a kind of friendship. Usually Archon was used to things like this having malicious intentions, but, it was nice. Previously the only positive thing in his life were his crystals and stones, how they caught the light of the blood sky of the dark area and turned it colors other than red. He had been sad to lose them, but, who knows, maybe one day he'd find them again? "Heh, I like the sound of that idea" Archon admitted. And when Levi gave another compliment, it kinda hit stronger than his previous ones, mainly because it hit really close to his interests. "Y-you think so?" he asked, blushing a little. "Well... if we do end up doin' that someday, I'd like that".Now out of food and drink, Archon wondered what to say next to Levi. Well... he was kind of out of things to say for the moment, so, he thought he might just put the question out there. "So, uh, I know you got your human partner to take care of, but, I wouldn't mind hangin' out with you for a bit longer, if ya wanna do somethin' else. Nothin' to take you too far away from your partner of course. In fact, can I meet him?"
Truth be told, Archon hadn't encountered only misery and suffering in the Backup Bayou. In fact, he had sensed something really powerful in that area, but, he knew he couldn't get to it alone. Maybe, if these guys became people he trusted, they could return there together and find out what it was?

Levi's tail happily flicked back and forth a few more times upon seeing Archon blush at his compliment. "Yeah! I really do!" he confirmed. "You can just say the word, and we can go searching any time you like!"
"Oh! You'd like to meet him? I'm sure he'd love to meet you! I'll be right back!" said the Veemon, before jumping off the chair and scampering in Alan's direction, nearly tripping over his own feet. After that, he shook himself out and took a deep breath to calm himself, feeling he was being a bit too excitable, which would likely make Alan nervous.
Meanwhile Alan looked back down at the table, taking care not to seem as if he had been glancing over at the pair of dragons the whole time, not out of concern or distrust, but rather, out of pure curiosity. Chances were Levi could guess, but was considerate enough not to mention it.
"Alan?" he heard from below him, signaling him to turn his attention downward to Levi. "My, uhh… date wants to meet you." Alan wished he could be surprised at Levi's chosen wording.
So he's hit it off that well with a black Veemon… that... makes too much sense. But no way in hell am I gonna be the one to be inconsiderate enough to say that!
"Oh, wow, sure!" The young man got up from his seat and followed his partner over to the other table. He gave the small black dragon a smile, a wave, and a slight bow, unsure what the best greeting was to use, but acknowledging that the decision wasn't all that important.
"Archon, this is Alan, my partner! And Alan, this is Archon, my..." The word still felt funny coming out of his mouth. "...my date. Eheh."
"Archon..." repeated Alan. "It's nice to meet you!"
"He was just sayin' he wanted to go do something together!"
"Oh, really? Together as in you two, or together as in all three of us? I wouldn't mind either way, but I suppose I should hear what you had in mind before saying anything."

Archon beamed at the prospect, but then realized his defenses had been lowered just a little too easily there. "Well, um, maybe not right now, I'd like to get to know ya a little better first" he said. Not that he didn't trust him so far, just, old habits die hard, and Archon wanted to make sure he'd be absolutely okay with travelling with the Veemon in this stuff. Even though he was fairly sure from their interactions so far that this guy was genuine.
After all, Archon had staggered into this inn, bitless, nothing on him whatsoever but the red bandana he wore around his arm. And Levi had treated him to food, drink and company. Part of that might have been mutual attraction, but, Levi had done him a real solid here, and Archon was more inclined to trust him because of that.
Levi then went off to fetch his partner, who returned in short order. As expected, the human was taller than most rookie digimon, wearing clothes, only had fur on his head, and wore some glass instruments in front of his eyes.
Levi introduced them to each other. Archon gave a small grin as he said he was his 'date'. Yeah, he supposed that was a nice way to put it. "Nice to meetcha" Archon said, shaking Alan's hand. He at least thought that was a nice way to meet someone.
Then when Levi worded it that way and Alan asked to clarify, Archon immediately blushed again. He didn't want to seem rude and ruin what had been done so far, so, he tried to go about this delicately.
"Well, uh, to be honest, tonight? I'd like to do know a little bit more about just Levi if that's okay" he said. "Don't get me wrong, I'd like to get to know you too, just... ah... I kinda wanna keep it to just one person for the time being". He paused then, added further. "I mean, you're his partner, I thought it'd be best to meet you first and ask if you're okay with all this, since, you're kinda like family now, right? But... that said, I guess... if I can get to know you too, I wouldn't mind goin' on somethin' like a treasure hunt together".
Archon hoped that he wasn't being too rude here, just, he hoped to make his intentions clear.

The young man smiled and listened patiently to Archon’s response. It was rather endearing that the black drake seemed to be trying very hard to be tactful and polite, but both Alan and Levi thought it was a bit excessive, though appreciated.
“Archon, it’s-“ said the partners simultaneously. Levi noticed that Alan was speaking at the same time, so he motioned for Alan to continue. It would make more sense for him to be the one to speak.
“Archon, it’s not a problem. Levi and I may be tied my some unknowable ‘hand of fate’ or whatever, but I’m not so paranoid as to not let him spend the night with someone he really likes!” He looked over to his partner to find the Veemon blushing, slightly shaking his confident tone. “Oh... you... you said ‘tonight,’ so I assumed- is- is that... not what you were saying?”
Levi hadn’t even considered it. He quickly spoke up in a moment of panic. “Y-you’re fine! It was!” Despite the fact that he said this to try and assure his partner that he wasn’t being too forward, Levi wasn’t so sure either. He quickly leaned over to Archon, whispering, “That’s what you were saying, right?”
Alan eventually felt the need to say something else. “E-either way, it’s fine by me! And if you wanted to do something together at some point, I’d love to! I’ve been wanting to try out treasure hunting for a while, but never had more people to do it with. For both company and safety reasons. Um... anyway... I h... hope you two have fun! Eheh. I’ll... get my own room. You know, if you’re staying the night together.”

Archon's red eyes widened a little as Alan spoke. "Uh... by 'tonight' I meant..." he began, but broke off, realizing that this was closer to what he wanted than he had initially let on. How Alan had figured it out so quickly amazed him.
Alan then broke off, asking for clarification. Archon took another glance at Levi, remembering all the things he liked about him and how great he felt in talking to him. "...Actually, you know what? Yeah. That's what I'm sayin'" he said, more confidently. "If... that's okay with you, Levi" he added, hoping all was fine.
Levi then seemed to want clarification too. And to this, Archon nodded. "Yeah... I do actually wanna spend a night with you" he admitted, reaching up to pat the blue Veemon's back.
Alan then added that he'd love to go treasure hunting as well sometime. "W-well, that's great, I guess" Archon admitted. Then Alan went as far as stating they could have their own room together. Archon blinked a little, then glanced at Levi, wondering what he would make of this. If he was happy about it, well, Archon would be too.
"Well, uh, guess we have a bit of time to ourselves then" Archon admitted. "So, uh, I've heard of life here on the middle continent, how you guys have these things called 'movies', so, uh... do you wanna watch one together?"
If so, Archon would appreciate such a time with his new acquaintance. Actually... make that 'friend'. The BlackVeemon really did kinda like this guy, and he would be delighted to wake up tomorrow with them having a good close bond.
