Holly let out an earnest sigh and scratched at her head, staring down at the floor. She didn't know what to think about the test that she had just taken. It was one of those tests that had a lot of different things; and a lot of it she wasn't exactly sure what the answers were going to be. But a lot of them she had managed to work out on her own; some of the history stuff eluded her and that was fine.
It kind of found her as odd that the first time that she went to a major city would to be to take a test like this. Just what was the point of it? There had been many other mons taking the same one right? or different ones? Her sister had even been there but she wasn't even sure what they were doing there.
But considering how everyone had been quiet it had left the meicoomon in quite an odd position. Her initial curiosity and excitement had to be curbed as many people concentrated around her.
It was weird and she wasn't sure what to expect, the strange looks that she had been getting throughout the day from people didn't change her outlook on this place. In fact she had barely noticed the staring until she caught someone looking; the mon whom had quickly averted their eyes as though she was going to bite them.
"I wonder how I did..."
The meicoomon sighed a little bit, her mother was sitting right next to her which was helping with this sort of nervous feeling that she was getting in the pit of her stomach. As she was able to talk to them with relative ease but... Her mothers few words of encouragement seemed to fall flat on the meicoomon as she went over the stuff in her head. A lot of the information was newer to her but that didn't matter all too much.
"Have you ever had to take one of these Ma?"
"No, there's no real test to be an Innkeeper or a Team leader. You do well or you don't."
"Oh. That's fair."
Still. It didn't quell this gnawing sensation that she had in the pit of her stomach. She wanted to know more about the subjects that she sort of floundered on. OR at least felt like she floundered on. In reality she wasn't even really aware of how much she managed to work through...

In truth, Holly was here because of Mikemon's curiosity - well, that, and that Syre was working through these tests as it was, anyway. They took separate level tests, in separate rooms - and by the time it was over, Syre was quite fatigued.
Sitting a few chairs next to Holly, the BlackGatomon gave a sigh. "Trust me, you aren't missing much. These things are rough, considering." Giving a chuckle that barely hid her lack of amusement, Syre just gave a sigh, resting her hands on her knees as she shook her head.
"Oh c'mon, I know you did fine." Giving Syre a small pat on her back, Mikemon would take the seat next to K, giving a nod to the Renamon. "How's Holly doing?" With the test results about to be passed out, that was a fair question to ask... though Syre seemed far more tense than her sister about this.
If Holly felt she had a pit in her stomach, well, Syre felt like she had a hole there. "What about that... no, I think I got that... but then..."
"... Syre..."

Holly scratched at her ears and blinked a few times. She was sort of out of it in regards to how she normally was; even with her questioning the reasons as to why she was here voicing those questions seemed out of place for the moment. She'd turn her head just a little bit to look at her sister, quirking a brow after a moment.
"Explains all the nail biting of the mon that was sitting next to me. Still can't help but wonder..."
K shook her head a little bit and gave a faint smile. Reaching over to give her daughter a gentle pat on the head. She couldn't reach far enough to pat Syre's but she most certainly would of. Flicking an ear she'd glance down at the meicoomon who seemed to be in deeper thought than usual.
"Doing pretty well all things considered. She's certainly a little less energetic, but these tests can be draining or rough as Syre said."
"But how would you know that they're draining?"
"I might never of taken classes in this regard, but I know how rough they can be."
The meicoomon huffed a little bit and the renamon gave her daughter a small grin. Though there was quickly a sigh as she heard what syre said; they were worried about their test results too it seemed... so holly felt the need to ask.
"How do you think you did Sis?"

"Hm? Oh, um... I think I did fine!"
It seemed that Syre could still put up at least a 'mask of confidence' for her sister, at least! Suddenly giving a smile, the cat sat up straighter, at least bolstered a bit by her most positive tone. K had it right, though - these tests could be stressful, and were definitely mentally training.
More-so for Syre: this probably had more weight for her than her much younger sister. Either way, they didn't seem too out of place with the rest of the Digimon here. Eventually, an Andromon would call out, over an intercom: "Scoring has been completed. When you hear your number, please come up to the desk to receive your scores. One..."
Ah, so that's how they were doing it? Great, the anticipation was just going to make it worse! Well, whatever: once 'Thirty-Two' was called, Syre walked up to the desk, showing her number and receiving an envelope - one that she kept closed for the moment. Heck, might as well wait for her sister, right? 'Thirty-eight' was Holly's number, and she'd similarly be passed a manila envelope. Back where Mikemon and K were sitting, Mikemon gave a nod:
"Alright, remember - no pressure, and no questioning whatever the numbers are, alright?"
"Yes, dad..." She gave a sigh, slicing open the band at the top...
... But just what were their results?

"Well of course you did silly!"
The meicoomon let out a small giggle; she thought the world of her sister. After all syre herself was far smarter than holly, older than her and was more experienced with stuff! Sure holly herself had a lot of things that seemed to be working out for her but that would never equal the work syre put in.
Holly didn't understand a lot of what was going on here, so suffice to say if she had she likely would of been sharing Syre's nervousness or that 'hole' in their stomach. Perking up the meicoomon flicked her ears and tilted her head. So they had been assigned numbers? What was hers again? It took her a few moments and she'd glance down at her number blinking a few times. Thirty-eight? So she wasn't too far behind of her sister.
She'd bounce up to the desk and give the andromon a big smile, showing her number and promptly thanking them when they handed her that manila envelope. She still had energy left over from this, after all she did want to see more of the city. This would be perfect even if she did poorly.
K didn't have much to say in this sort of environment, honestly she had come here to more be a physical presence. It was hard for her to understand everything that went on but this was something she was happy to be here for. This was the sort of thing she fought for, so her kids could go to school and enjoy peace. She'd lean a little as holly sat back down, gently popping out a claw to slice open the envelope
"Mei?"
The meicoomon tilted her head at her result, unsure of what exactly it meant...

Well, sure. Holly really wasn't told what this test was about when she was told about it, and was really kept from actually being able to study by, well, only being told of this test before. In fact, there was only one score on this test that Mikemon was actually interested in for the Meicoomon: 'aptitude'.
But first, Syre's results! Aside from the 'aptitude' mark, they were simply based scores over 100, indicating their 'percentile'. The higher the number, the better:
Math: 77 History: 72 Literature: 66 Science: 89
Aptitude: 102 "... Thank goodness..."
"I told you to hit the books more on those... but I guess you can't cover everything." Syre was relieved, and Mikemon, well, happy enough that she was 'over the line', so to say. Holly's test, meanwhile... well.
Math: 76 History: 21 Literature: 43 Science: 34
Aptitude: 137
One-hundred-thirty-seven.
Mikemon had discussed the importance of this number before: essentially, it was a measure of a Digimon's 'potential to learn', with 100 being something of an 'average' number. It was something that couldn't really be studied, and was very hard to change - 137 meant that Holly was about as rare as a four leaf clover. But it wasn't just that - Holly's affinity for math was also much better than Mikemon would have expected from the start.
Her other scores, of course, were fairly low - she'd never had the chance to study them, after all.

It wasn't surprising to her that her sister scored so well. Most of them were in the passing percentages and showed how hard that she had worked on them. The meicoomon sported a little grin and leaned just a touch her ears wiggling a bit in excitement.
"Looks like you did really well! Good job sis!"
Holly tilted her head a little bit and scratched at her ears, these numbers didn't make much in the way of sense. She scored high on math, she never studied history, literature was just books and science was the stuff mikemon's books were about. The aptitude is what made her tilt her head looking somewhat unsure.
The meicoomon traced a line over each one of them mulling over what problems she had answered and what she probably got right. A lot of them sort of came up blank for history, but for the others she could just sort of feel out.
"Why is the Aptitude so high Da?"
She really didn't know what it meant to the others; she knew what the word meant but out of context it was basically knowing the difference between a cake and a brownie with frosting. Her father had explained this before, but there was a few things that she was missing with how much information she had to go over and work with. So of course something somewhere would get lost even if it was something minor like this.
"Looks like I have some things to work on though..."

"Heh, yeah!"
She was confident enough now, at least, and at least relieved that it was over! It was just a matter of applications and the rest as it was, Mikemon and Syre already holding a small discussion over those matters, one that would continue for hours at home, most likely. Holly's question, though, perked Mikemon's attention. "Hm? Oh, you remember the part of the test where the questions were more 'matching spinning shapes' and 'thinking' questions?" The doctor asked, rather plainly. He did step over, to take a look at Holly's score, curious himself.
"The aptitude score is more a score for how well you can learn. Now, let's see-"
The cat's tone froze, as soon as his eyes caught onto that number. '137'. As rare as it was, this number made a lot of events before finally make sense: her ability to understand his books, her math score without studying, her handling the Seadramon situation so well.
"... That's... a very high number." He gave a blink, looking over towards K. This was exactly what they were talking about, earlier.

Holly was glad to hear her sister respond in such a manner; she had seemed kind of down on herself in some fashion or another. Likely thinking that she had done poorly on something. Holly tilted her head a little bit and simply dipped her head in a nod.
"Oh yeah those! They were really easy!"
Honestly considering the sort of things that she had to interact with thus far a test like that would of been extremely easy for her. It made her a little bouncy but the moment that her da froze she got a curious expression on her face. She'd rub at one of her ears and stare down at her score sheet.
"That's.... good right?"
Honestly with the scoring she was still trying to wrap her head around it fully. K seemed flabbergasted herself and looked back at her husband sharing a mixed look with him before leaning just a bit.
"It is, but... it certainly explains some things."
Holly seemed honest to god confused, scratching at her ear and staring down at these numbers for a few moments. She'd shake her head and offer the paper to her parents. It would be better if they kept track of this sort of thing right?
"Not sure... where I'd put this. Maybe one of you should keep it?"
K blinked a few times and rubbed at her muzzle; she honestly wanted to know more about her daughter but this was the sort of thing that she wasn't sure how to handle. Something she'd hopefully be able to talk to mikemon about in private. She'd of course take the paper and put it back into the envelope. Sticking the manila item into her infini-storage for when they got back and could put it in a better spot...
"Well. Now we know a good few answers... but get loaded with questions don't we?"

"Hm? Oh... oh, yeah, its good!" Snapping out of his trance for a moment, he gave his daughter a smile, scratching right behind her ear as a manner of encouragement. Of course, Holly didn't need to keep holding onto such an important paper - both she and Syre would pass them over to K, to put away in the infini-store.
"But, um... that should be it for today, right?" Syre didn't know just how high Holly's score was, but really, all she wanted to do was go sleep after such a long day! Heck, Holly was probably feeling a bit out of it too. Returning a nod towards both of them, the doctor would start to motion to lead the group out -
"Ah, excuse me for a sec."
"Eh?"
Syre would turn, and the group would see an Ebemon addressing the lot of them - the machine Digimon looking down towards the Meicoomon, before looking towards Mikemon and K. "Ah, you must be the parents, then? Why don't you all come down to my office for a bit - there's something I want to discuss..."
"Um..." The doctor gave a blink. "I mean, we really don't want to commit to a place here, yet... maybe a letter would work better for you?"

"Oh! Okay! Well uhm... Good!"
The meicoomon wriggled her ears at that scratching behind her ear; there was a moment where she let loose a small purr. She seemed rather content with the idea that she had done good even though she hadn't studied for such a thing. K gently took the other manila envelope from Syre giving her eldest daughter a firm smile and even going so far to rub the top of the other's head.
They had done well, she'd have to cook up something for them tonight. Maybe she could purchase something out of whitewater and bring it home. The renamon dipped her head just a little bit at syre's question.
"That should be. Lets see if I can get something whipped up for food when we get back..."
Holly would hop out of her seat, K herself would stand up but both of them paused nearly in tandum as an Ebemon addressed the lot of them. K was quick to pick up they were looking at the meicoomon. There was a quirk of a brow, a small tilt of the head and a hand gently placed on the top of the meicoomon's head. The latter of which tilted their head with a look of curiosity plastered across their face.
"Mikemon it shouldn't take too long. Might as well hear what he has to say. Besides it's hard to put everything into a letter."
Besides it would also give the lot of them a little bit of reprieve before going home along with giving the renamon a bit more time to think about what to make for her family. She however found it a touch odd that they would be approached so quickly after the test...

"Well... I guess it can't hurt to listen, at least."
Mikemon's tone sounded more like he was relenting to the meeting, but it would probably be harmless enough. Syre seemed more confused than anything else, simply giving a nod towards Mikemon, then towards the Ebemon, as they were led down the hall and towards the Ebemon's office.
One that was clearly rather cramped for five Digimon to be in, even with three of them being cat-types! Still, they managed to squeeze in, Syre taking a seat and offering the one next to her to Holly, as the Ebemon slipped back behind his desk. In this setting, the BlackGatomon was somewhat concerned: was there something wrong with the test? Were her scores too low? Did someone copy her answers and now they thought she was cheating?
The tensity in her shoulders faded somewhat, as the Ebemon started to speak: "I'm just going to go out and say it - 'Holly' has quite a good head on her shoulders." The machine type tilted his head: "Doctor, I assume you just had her take a test to test that last number?"
"Well, I thought it might be..." he sighed. "Well... yes."
"Hm." Whatever the case, the machine type pressed on: "I'd prefer if our admittance tests weren't used in such a fashion, but I'll look past it for this. I'll just say this, her 'type of thinking' is quite valuable for data research. It would honestly be a shame to just let that number be a 'number'. She'd make an excellent researcher, or-"
"Trust me, I get it," Mikemon interrupted. "And if she does, that's great... but that's something that Holly has to want to do."

K flicked her eras a little bit and glanced down at her husband. He might of relented to the idea of giving a listen to this; but to her she felt that he was somewhat unhappy about having to do so so soon after the test. Holly tilted her head a little bit and looked at her family, one after the other. She wasn't even sure what they would be talking about in this discussion. After all she had never... quite been here before.
So of course her mind was racing a mile a minute as they fit into the office. She'd plop down next to her sister and give them a small smile. The worry could practically be felt off of syre which made K lean just a little bit to place a re-assuring hand on her head. When that tenseness faded away however K blinked and removed her hand. More so at what the Ebemon was saying which prompted Holly to pay more attention to what was going on than her mindscape at the moment.
"Oh. That makes sense."
Holly blinked a few times and stared at the ebemon flicking her ears a few times looking somewhat unsure for a moment. She'd lean quietly and glance between the ebemon and her father. A researcher? Her interest peaked and she'd blurt out after a few moments of thought.
"Da wait, this is a good thing! I think just let him talk a little bit. What kind of researcher? You said Data but that term is really general right? What else were you going to suggest? I want to do something Da, I want to do stuff to help people. Like you and ma."
Holly wriggled her ears a little bit and her tendrils sort of curled around her. She looked like she was in a pretty deep place in thought. There was a small frown across her face and she'd stare at the Ebemon with a thinly veiled curiosity. She'd sigh softly and shake her head;
"Every day I have more questions than answers, maybe this will help change that."

See, this is what Mikemon was afraid of. Holly, young as she was, almost bit Ebemon's hook directly. Yes, he said 'talk', but that talk could very quickly develop into something far more than one if he let it happen. And though the Ebemon gave a nod at the Meicoomon, Mikemon shook his head.
"Holly," the doctor started, "I'm not saying you can't be a researcher - but this isn't the place or the time for you to decide something like that." He gave a sigh - and pressed on. "To be honest, with your scores... well, an artist would want you for their art classes, and a historian would want you for their history classes. And you're my daughter, who I don't think knows what she 'wants to be' when she grows up, yet. So just take it a little bit slow, at least, alright?"
Wait... this was all for Holly? Syre, sitting in the room, gave a small blink, and a blank stare at just what was going on. "Um... mom? Do you know what's going on, here? I... think I got lost about a minute ago..."

Holly didn't know what kind of line was casted for her, what sort of bait was placed nor how quickly she took all of it. She was curious, she wanted to know more and the meicoomon's expression shifted just a little bit and she'd look up at her Da with more a confused expression than anything.
"Then... what is the time and place for it?"
The meicoomon rubbed her ear awkwardly and looked between her family members; wasn't that the point of all this? To learn what she could do and such? But the mikemon was right, she really didn't know what she wanted to be. But she didn't know the choices either. So there was a problem with that that resonated quite clearly with her.
"You're right I don't know what I wanna be, but I don't even know what the choices are. But if you think that's the best idea..."
She'd sigh a little bit and shift in her seat; she figured that this conversation would steer more and more from the information she really wanted to hear to more of an explanation about how she didn't know enough which just made her want it more.
K leaned down a little bit raising a brow slightly. She was sort of keeping track of all of this, though the discussion between her youngest and her husband would make it difficult to understand.
"Well I thought it was to learn about classes and such honestly that holly might be able to take, but I might of guessed incorrectly..."
