There can only be one Carnival King (Carlos)

Whitewater.
The once foreign city had become something of a usual spot for Carlos and Dio, a place they always visited when they had a day or two of downtime and needed a break from their rather stressful days.

After an uneventful day spent sitting under the sun on the beach, they returned to the bustling city at sundown, and found themselves with a rather lively sight. Sure, Whitewater's nightlife was characteristically lively, things somehow felt brighter and more colorful than usual. It didn't took much time before they found out that tonight was a special holiday dedicated to one of the "Four Sovereigns" of the digital world.

To which one of the four? Hell if they knew, most of the digimon they reached out to for information were too busy enjoying the festivities to pay attention to two "tourists" like they were.

As such the undynamic duo was currently sitting calmly by the sidewalk, having a sip of a couple of cold beers(?) they had bought from one of the many vendors on the street, thinking on what to do next. The real question on the man's mind however: why would he trust Dio again with actual booze, after that one time on the Caritas? Well, it was a special ocassion, and after several things that had happened recently, the imp deserved to loosen up a bit.

Even if he was already seeming just a bit more chatty than usual.

"So what the hell are we waiting around for? The Dark Lord demands entertainment!" He complained, taking a long drink from the canned beverage.

"Slow down, Dio, let me finish this thing first and then we can look around."
Carlos calmly replied, taking a short sip, taking delight in this moment of peace...and in seeing the annoyance in his partner's eyes. It was always so easy to get in his nerves.

"You do you, dork." He said, getting back to his feet with a jump while throwing the empty can to a side, not really caring where or who it landed on. "The Dark Lord Dio does not feel like waiting around. The night is young and I'm not going to let it pass me by!" He proclaimed, a smug (if mildly tipsy) smirk on his face as he stared back to the man.

Carlos response? A small shrug accompanied with a rather nonchalant sounding, "Just don't get lost, ok?"

Before Dio and Carlos could get started, or indeed before the man even finished his drink, it seemed someone else was looking to talk to them: a tall man accompanied by a rather friendly (if a bit loud) Spadamon. Carlos was rather surprised, but pleasantly so. It was nice for a change to be approached by someone that just wanted to enjoy the party.
Dio however, already quite annoyed by the digimon's sudden intrusion was even more perplexed by the Spadamon's sudden silence, not helped in the slightest by how he was just...staring at him.

"The hell you gawking at?" The imp practically shouted at the Spadamon. "At any rate, how bold of you to assume the Dark Lord Dio would lower himself enough to spend the night partying with some random no name peasant he met on the street!" He said, smugly folding his arms while glaring daggers of contempt at the Spadamon, before turning to Carlos as if looking for some support in the human.

The man sighed as he pinched the bridge of his nose a bit and got up from the ground.

"Yeah, I'm down. The more the merrier." He said with a smile at the other man, closing in the distance as he too reached his hand out to shake Kazuya's, doing his best to ignore Dio's dissaproving and incredulous glare. "Name's Carlos. That..."friendly" fella here is Dio, but you probably know that already. I'm sorry, he may had one too many drinks already, so please don't take anything he says too personally." He added with a small apologetic nod. Not the best first impression they could have made, but hopefully these two wouldn't be turned away by Dio's standoffish attitude just yet.

There was a long silence as Dio glared back at the white digimon, eyes seemingly glowing with fury. Was this peasant not only making fun of him, but actually challenging him? In front of his partner no less? The gall of this Roy.

"Are...are you challenging me?! The Dark Lord of this Digital World?" The imp replied, incredulous, as if still trying to process the Spadamon's audacity. Carlos bit his lip, worried this would quickly escalate to violence. Dio was known for his quick temper, but he didn't know just how bad he could get while drunk...so imagine his surprise when the imp didn't lunge with killing intent at the other digimon, but rather let out a hearthy chuckle. "Ha! Yes, of course I accept your challenge, "Sir" Roy. The Dark Lord won't be intimidated by a mere charlatan."

Yes, the Dark Lord was not only looking forward to a challenge tonight, but any opportunity to prove his superiority to Carlos. And what better way than to humilliate another smug opponent in a battle of skill?
And so, without saying another word, he made a beeline for the designated place, a relatively cozy looking bar that was luckily not too crowded. He snapped his fingers whilst pointing at Carlos.

"Carlos! Make the waiter procure us their finest darts." He said, demanding. Carlos just rolled his eyes, clearly used to this.

"Mind if I get some drinks?"

"Feel free, it's not like you're using my treasury." The imp shrugged, clearly too focused on the clearly important situation of having his pride on the line to care what his partner was doing. Carlos would have gladly pointed out how a couple hundred bits barely qualified as a treasury, but there were better uses of his time. Like finding a table for him and Kaz to sit on! Luckily there was one not too far from where the darts were.

"Let's leave these two be, I'm sure they'll be fine." He said to the black haired man as he sat on one of the stools. "So, how long you been around? The digital world I mean."

Surprisingly there was a telling lack of sneering and jeering as Roy made the first play, Dio simply looking intently at the Spadamon's movements, as if trying to take mental notes on how to play when his turn arrived. He was taking this far more seriously than even Carlos expected him to, that much was certain.

Speaking off, the man was willingly oblivious to the battle of wits and honor going on not too far from them, too busy nodding at Kaz's answer.

"Bout the same really, I've been here for some months, maybe the better time of a year. Kinda hard to tell time sometimes really." He shrugged a bit. "Really, I gave up on learning everything there is to know about this place on my own: it's far easier to get yourself someone that actually knows how things work, trust me."

Meanwhile, not too far from there, Dio simply rolled his eyes as Roy finished his turn, smugly bragging about a measly 75 points.
"Hah! Good on you, so you can throw darts without poking your eye out in the process, color me impressed." He quipped, calmly grabbing a hold of his own darts and waving them in front of Roy while saying in an impossibly condescending tone, "Now take notes, this is how the Royalty does it."

After this smug declaration, he took a moment to try and aim a bit. All he needed were two bullseyes and he'd be more than set. Easy peasy. With a confident smirk, he took his first shot, aiming to hit the center of the board...only for the dart to go completely off course and into the wall next to the board.

"Huh?!" The imp's eyes widened in disbelief. "T-that was a practice shot!"

To the impmon's credit, he was making a collossal effort to aim while already being quite tipsy, no easy task. That gave him very little solace however, as his next shot was a rather marginal improvement, barely hitting a 10. "Tch, stupid booze..."

He knew this was already a bad match for him, but maybe if he tried he could salvage some of his already hurt pride. Relaxing his throwing arm, the imp closed his eyes as he took a long, deep breath. He focused deeply on his target, visualizing the bullseye in his mind. He poured every bit of his concentration into that one spot in the board, his entire being set into achieving that perfect shot. Small sparks of energy crackled on his palm as he reared his arm back to throw. As soon as he opened his eyes again, he took the shot.

The dart soared fast through the air, aided by the strenght of the Demon Lord of Sloth, and soon enough, the dart hit it's mark...
...or would have hit its mark, had the imp aimed just a little bit lower. Instead, the dart landed harshly on the upper side of the board, piercing through it and leaving a rather large hole on it. Which would have been far more impressive, had it not landed on a 5.

"DAMN IT!" He exclaimed as he fell to his knees, punching the ground. To say he was crestfallen would be an understatement. After all how could the great Dark Lord be losing to someone like this? It's not like he was another Demon Lord or a Mega, then it would at least be justifiable. No...he would not let this stand, he wasn't going to let this nobody humilliate him!

"It's...it's not fair! I'm not in complete control of my movements, and my vision is impaired! This was rigged from the start, I demand a rematch on a different game!" He said, getting back up to his feet and dusting himself off some.

Carlos, who had been looking at the match, was now being glared at by one of the Veggiemon-waiters, who was clearly none to pleased about Dio ruining one of the dart boards.

"Hey, is he with you? If so you better pay for that this instant!" The plant said threateningly waggling one of his vines. The man sighed a bit, reaching into his pocket and offering the digimon something that looked like a credit card.

"Keep the change." He said, rolling his eyes and pinching the bridge of his nose. "This is going to be one of those nights, isn't it?"
