Drum Roll Please [Leith/Eris]

The sun was high in the sky as the little Gigimon ambled down the streets of Rosewood for once blending in seamlessly with the crowd of in-training and rookie digimon as she explored the town. Her Father was dropping off supplies of weapons and armor for the town guards or at least that's what he told her he was doing though Eris had her suspicions. Though such thoughts were quickly forgotten when deeming the town safe enough Hephaestus had urged his daughter to go and play. Reasoning there was only so much chaos his child could cause in a growing city literally designed to accommodate low level and growing digimon and the accidents they tended to get into. Content to explore the little Gigimon wound her way off the streets and down the back alleys of Rosewood seeking to get away from the crowds a bit. Only pausing in her exploration when a strange noise reached her ears. It sounded almost like music....but louder.

Maybe the symphonic metal band could have practiced inside, but why would they have? The digital world had electric musical equipment that could run on some powerful batteries for a while, even the big amps, and it was all easy to transport to the park with the help of the Infiniti-store plugin. The group had just been wrapping up, but the bassist, synth, and guitarist/main vocalist were all still hanging around. They were respectively a Flamedramon without his gauntlets on, a Shoutmon who was unusual in the sense of being made of flesh and scales rather than metal and bolts, and a 19-year-old human boy dressed rather darkly for such a bright, sunny day with curly brown hair past his shoulders and a pair of eyeglasses. Even though all was packed up, he still wore his guitar case on his back for intentional conspicuousness, just like the black-and-blue D-3 on his left wrist.
"Alright, I was weak on 'Wish For A Miracle,' and we all know it. My bad guys," Leith preemptively apologized to the other two.
"You were? I didn't think so," Flamedramon encouraged, pushing back against that.
"I heard it," Shoutmon more honestly answered, "But you got it, man." It seemed that nobody had noticed the little chili bean quite yet.

"What's 'Wish For A Miracle?' Is that a new sort of attack?" A little voice piped up from the bushes as the small red Gigimon struggled and wriggled it's way through the branches to scrabble into the small clearing peering up at the group with big blue eyes. Eyes that went all the wider at the sight of a human or what they thought was a human. Maybe. It's not like they'd ever seen one in person before.
"So cool~" Eris breathed out breathlessly glancing between the Shoutmon, Flamedramon, and Leith themselves. Her gaze lingering briefly on the funny shaped case strapped to boys back before glancing towards the Flamedramon taking them for the leader given their advanced evolution.
"Where'd you get a pet human?! I've never seen one before!" The Little In-Training Digimon questioned babbling out her inquiries.
"You are a human right? Was that you making that weird noise?" She questioned with a little curious tilt of her head.

"Huh?" On the first question, all three musicians turned to finally notice the little red... thing that had apparently stumbled upon their outdoor practice space. Before anyone could go and explain it, though, she had continued on with more of her kids-say-the-darndest-things-type questions. Shoutmon smirked when Eris thought being with a human was cool, but he absolutely lost it when Flamedramon was asked about his 'pet' human.
"Ha!" The red drake bent over with his hands on his knees, having trouble breathing from how hard he was laughing. Leith's eyes bulged, and he covered his mouth. Flamedramon gasped and showed his teeth but didn't quite manage to smile, looking more caught off-guard.
"P-pet? No, Leith isn't my-"
"-Bought him in Terminus!"
"Shoutmon!"
"Hey, I'm kidding, I'm kidding! Leith isn't our pet, kiddy." Both Leith and Flamedramon kept looking at Shoutmon, suspicious there was another punchline coming. Apparently they knew him well. "He's a Leomon's."
"Dude, that's a kid!" That fact apparently didn't matter to Shoutmon, who was busy bent over laughing hysterically again. Leith had to talk over him to make himself heard. "First of all, I'm nobody's pet!" he tried to assert with as much force as he could without plainly and simply yelling at a child he didn't know. Hopefully Eris wouldn't notice his cheeks were practically turning the same color as hers. He was a bit gentler with the rest of it, though. "The three of us are part of a band, and 'Wish For A Miracle' is a song we play."
Still, it was clear the young man had no idea how to treat someone like Eris. The truth was children of any species weren't really his thing, and obviously Shoutmon couldn't be trusted to keep it G-rated. Luckily, one blue digimon had enough decency to bend down in front of Eris with a friendly grin and inquire, "Humans are pretty cool, though, aren't they? Don't you have one? Or, a parent?" That was his way of trying to elicit where to return this possibly lost girl.

"But where's his Leomon then?" Eris asked glancing between the now laughing Shoutmon and the Flamedramon in confusion until Leith began to change colors. Eliciting another soft 'Ooo~' from Eris. "Wow I didn't know Humans could do mode changes and change color!" The little Gigimon gasped out over Leith's explanation finally quieting down as the Flamedramon knelt in front of her.
"They really are! I've never gotten to see one before! They weren't allowed to visit where I live until recently. Does he have one of those flashy light thingies that make you stronger?! Ooh! Ooh! Can he fight? My Dad says some humans can turn into digimon and fight!" Eris exclaimed practically bouncing in place in her excitement. Shoutmon having done nothing more then apparently rile up the little In-training Digimon even more.
"But wait," The Gigimon murmured pausing as she considered her own words. "How can you tell if they're a human or a digimon if some humans can turn into digimon?" She questioned with a confused tilt of her head.

Wow, that was a lot to say at once! Leith could hardly keep up with it all. When he could finally get a word in edgewise, he answered the girl's first question, "Lantis lives in the real world, Tokyo." For a moment, but young man looked down and frowned, apparently sad thinking about that or something related to it. But then he remembered what came next. "Hey, wait, it's not a- I'm not changing modes!" The metalhead's pale face only became redder at the insinuation.
Flamedramon seemed to take to this little creature much more than his Tamer, though Shoutmon was still standing to one side, listening carefully, and failing to hold in his laughter miserably. Flamedramon gently began to explain, "Leith isn't much of a fighter, and he can't turn into a digimon-"
Thank fuck for that!
"-but he does have a digivice, and it does make both him and us stronger. Here-" Flamedramon held Leith's wrist out toward the little digimon, on which he wore his digivice like a watch.
"Humans that turn into digimon have a completely different digivice from this one. But believe me, Leith is very strong in his way."
"Good, 'cause he can't fight for shit!" Flamedramon glared at him. "Oh, 'scuse me. 'He can't fight for crap.'"

"If you can't mode change then why are you changing colors?" Eris asked with wide curious eyes, her initial excitement replaced with concern for the apparently helpless, but also strong human. She wasn't entirely certain whether to believe the Shoutmon or the Flamedramon's assessment on Leith's strengths just yet. Though she did lean forward to sniff the digivice her nose briefly scrunching up as she leaned back and then violently sneezed knocking herself onto her back, little legs flailing in the air until she managed to roll herself back over.
"I'm Eris by the way and you are...Leith?" She the little Digimon spoke up introducing herself only to hesitate over the human's name having mostly inferred it and was unsure if she had gotten it right.
"How did you make that weird music? I haven't heard anything like it around Luminas or where I live." The Gigimon questioned as she settled back onto her tail blinking up at them inquisitively.

Unfortunately, the close proximity of the young man's hand to the little girl's nose meant his hand got covered in her snot. He grimaced but politely kept his mouth shut as he knelt down and wiped his hand on the grass at his feet. Unbelievable. Well, if there's one thing I won't miss about this town, it's all the kids. He still wasn't satisfied with the cleanliness of his hand, but he'd done the best he could do. "Yeah, I'm Leith, and, uh... something tells me our kind of music isn't quite welcome in Luminas." The most he'd ever heard of it was rumors and hearsay, but it seemed like there was a strong consensus that Luminas was the North Korea of the digital world. It sounded like this little digimon was from the area, though. Hell, I could be risking my life just standing next to her.
Still... she had gone and asked about the music. That was Leith's personal favorite topic, after all. So, Leith stayed kneeling on the ground to unshoulder and open his guitar case, revealing its internal contents:
Go ahead and ignore that brand label, since it probably doesn't exist in the digital world! n.n' Shoutmon was considerate enough to throw him the unused end of a guitar cable, the other end of which was plugged into a stack almost as tall as its user that Shoutmon then turned on. He played a pretty quick nonsense riff, but the nasty, distorted ripper of a tone was effectively demonstrated nonetheless. "They've gotta have electric guitars in Luminas, Eris. Maybe they don't sound exactly like this one, but... there's music there, ain't there?"

Eris listened. Her little head cocked half to the side as Leith played his riff, her eyes following his fingers as she ran them across the strings of the strange instrument. Producing a sound not quite like anything the little Digimon had ever heard before. The concept of an electric guitar was foreign to her and while there was more music at Icy Fate's Fortress the times she'd been dragged to visit Luminas she'd found it distinctly lacking.
"I mean there's trumpets and the angel digimon sing. A lot. Almost constantly really. They're not even very good and I kinda hate it." Eris admitted because sure the chorus's were ok maybe the first time you heard them, but after the fiftieth time a group of Cupimon opened their mouths in a 'spontaneous' song of worship for goodness and light it got old. Not to mention there wasn't a very large range of subjects expressed in music. It was like listening to the same story over and over and over and over again.
Honestly it might explain why the older Angel digimon were a little batty. If you had to listen to that most of your life it was likely to make anyone sane pop a screw loose and Eris only occasionally visited.

Leith smirked a little. Someone who hated bad music was, in his mind, a friend. But the thing was this was a rather awkward and undesirable scenario he had found himself trapped in, forced to babysit some kid until he could figure out how to get rid of her. He couldn't just leave her alone, right? Somebody did, apparently, but it didn't feel right to the human boy, coming from a place where unfortunate things tended to happen to lone young people.
Lucky for him, Flamedramon knew his Tamer and was sensitive to his plight. Ever the diplomat, he thought he knew a decent solution to the quagmire before the trio. "So is your dad around, Eris? I'd love to meet him if I can."
Leith caught on quick. Not bad, Flamedramon. If she knows where he is, this is an excuse to pawn her off on him. If she doesn't, it's an excuse to look for him. Either way, progress.

"Yeah my Dad's just down the~" The little Gigimon began to exclaim only to pause her little ears twitching as she picked up on a distant noise. It wouldn't be long before the group as a whole would hear what had gotten the tiny Digimon's attention. "Eris?" A low rumbling voice called carrying over the soft sounds of the village as a tall figure strode down the street taking great care not to step on the many rookie and in-training Digimon that made up the town and flocked around his feet. The Medieval Dukemon's armor glittering in the sun as he paused to scan the crowds. "Daddy!" The little Gigimon yelled rearing back onto her hind legs to wave her front ones in the air to catch his attention. The Dukemon's gaze settling upon her as the tension seemed to bleed from his shoulders as the towering Mega level subtly relaxing as he strode over. "There you are Eris. When I told you to go and play I meant the playground next door." The Dukemon scolded gently as he bent to scoop the little In-training up into his arms. "You know the one I could see from the window." He added with a soft grumble as the little Gigimon nibbled affectionately upon his fingers. "Sorry Dad." Eris mumbled her ears laying flat in embarrassment and shame at the scolding no matter how gentle as the Dukemon turned his gaze upon Leith and his crew. "I see you've made some friends Eris. Thank you for locating my mischievous daughter." The Dukemon spoke inclining his head in thanks to the Tamer and his Partners. "I am Hephaestus knight and smith."

Leith, Veemon, and Shoutmon all glanced in the direction that Eris seemed to as she said where her father was only to lay their eyes on a truly odd sight: a digimon of at least the mega level strolling down the walkways of the town meant mostly for rookies, meaning this was almost definitely no local. Had he been, the group surely would have heard of him. She called him, 'Daddy.' 'Daddy?' Leith echoed to himself in shock, taking a few respectful steps back from the knight.
Leith didn't forget where Eris said these two came from or that place's reputation. He also didn't forget the amount of black he was dressed in or the fact that Shoutmon had on more than one occasion been mistaken for a virus. The man was being respectful and civil, to his immense relief. "Mr. Hephaestus, I'm Leith, with partners Flamedramon and Shoutmon.... metal band," he added at the end since Hephaestus had ended with his occupation. Standing too close to this mega from Luminas gave Leith butterflies in his stomach, so he tried to politely excuse himself from the scene with, "She was no trouble, but I'm sorry we can't stay. Excuse us." When Leith made a hasty exit, then, his two partners were aware enough to follow him off.
"That was a little rude, Leith," Flamedramon tried to point out to Leith while keeping his voice down. His Tamer, however, wasn't having it.
"My experiences with both digimon higher level than you guys and with social conservatives have all ended in disaster. I figure there's no way both at once will go well." Flamedramon knew he wouldn't win the argument Leith was trying to start, so he avoided it.
