Holly placed a hand against her head and simply nodded. She'd grip her ear quietly and shake her head a little as they moved. Though that careful step into her shadow brought Iris' attention around easily. There was a brief eye opening, a small nod and he simply vanished from sight again.
"Yeah this way right..."
That soft mumble and she'd look around recognizing that station they had come to earlier...
Back at the base she'd give Peck a small wave of the hand, sliding down to the pillowed area with a soft bounce. She'd stare around for a moment and follow suit to her hammock. She'd be sitting on that hammock staring at the bucket her ear flicking a few times as Dark spoke to her.
He maybe got through half of the spiel before the meicoomon's head was buried into that bucket. What followed suit was only to be expected with small sounds of pain at each hitch. She hadn't ever really done this before, nor had she even really considered what she'd have to do. Everything crashed down and it just made her body revolt against her.
"Oh... Yeah. I'll let her know more properly when she's not..."
The shadow shifted a little bit and found himself 'frowning' he never had to deal with this. He was just grouchy for the few days; perks of not having a body after all...

"... Right. Iris, I'm going to leave it to you."
He gave a nod towards the two of them, the Impmon giving a small sigh as he turned around. It couldn't be helped, really - Holly was a new recruit, and they only had a week of training to go on, at that. Suffice to say, such a straightforward method wouldn't work every time.
But to make use of every moment of that 90 second window so early was remarkably impressive. Before he stepped out, Dark looked back over his shoulder. "I will have to personally break that rule in about six hours. I'll check the dead-drop location they specified to see if they dropped off the payment. Iris, make sure she gets some sleep."
And with that, the Impmon would step on out - once more, leaving it to Iris.

"It's probably for the best that you do."
The shademon shifted slightly as holly rested her head against that bucket with an exasperated sound. She'd flick an ear and put a hand to her face after a few long moments. She felt dizzy, sick, nauseated and... what was with this buzz? There was a few moments and she'd let out a sick gagging sound.
"P-peppermint w-whiskey? WHO DOES THAT?"
The shademon paused for a few moments and let out a marvelous chuckle before turning his head to look at Dark. Another nod and he'd shift to gently pat the meicoomon who was clutching at the bucket as though her dear life depended on it.
"After she's done here, got something to drink... Would be for the best. But all right, be quick. I don't think anyone would be happy about you breaking protocol but..."
There was a soft shrug and he'd watch the impmon go. It maybe was another hour of the meicoomon being sick before she managed to clean herself up. Empty out the bucket and... among other things face-plant into the hammock. Where she would promptly pass out!
Iris would be with her the entire time and he simply sat under her hammock waiting patiently. Though the thoughts of that assassination were ripe on his mind.
She had never loaded someone before... and he was her first. An ultimate mon. How would someone like her react to stimulation like that?

It was a long night - that's how it always was, after one of these jobs. Secure as they may have seemed during and right after the act, there was always the risk of an unseen force, an unknown camera, a single misstep that could have blown the entire operation.
So they waited. Peck and Dark watched TV and listened to a radio in the common room, flicking from news channel to news channel to see if there was any news regarding Count's death. Come early morning, the Peckmon would slip out to get a few newspapers - as he did every day, just for cover - to see what was being reported on the situation.
And come six hours later, the Impmon would carefully slip outside, staying invisible in as long a stretch as he could manage, before ducking into an alleyway or hiding spot to rest and recharge. He'd eventually reach that dead-drop location - a wooden crate behind the clock tower - and with a thick envelope in hand, he'd return back to Fall Lane, just as the morning sun started to peek through the sky.
Some time later, when Holly would wake up - either on her own, or with Iris telling her to - she would find Dark in the main room, nodding carefully to the Meicoomon. "You hanging in there?"

It was rough for holly, she had to process that data. Data of another, she had to sift through it in a sense. But it made for some hellish dreams; she even got to see the final few moments right up to the point of her own strike on her own chest. It felt so strange to see it from another angle. There were other things of course that made it rough...
But the meicoomon remained in that hammock for the 'few' hours of rest that she was able t o grab. She'd wake up awkwardly putting a hand to her head. She'd grit her teeth as she could feel the soothing touch of that shademon against her before hopping out of the hammock.
It didn't take her long till she went to the front room that the Impmon would be in. She'd blink a few times and look down at her hands for a few brief long moments.
"I... Dreamt about it... It's.. I. I'm. I'm okay. Just... a little shaken."
The meicoomon shook her head and put a hand to her head. She could feel the biting burn on her chest. The lightning through her body. That agony of passing which was followed by something she could only describe as some kind of release?
"I didn't even... think about it I just..."
The meicoomon took a seat and set her head on the table, looking somewhat frazzled. Iris on the other hand? Well he popped up looking somewhat more chipper than usual. But that wouldn't be much of a surprise considering what he normally fed off of.
"It's not as bad as it was, and it'll get easier and easier Holly. It's all right."
The shade slipped a small vestige into Dark's shadow and explained about the lack of thought she had put forward in the moment. The instincts to simply kill the other, along with what shortly followed. The count's death and the meicoomon's loading of the count.
"And... what about the news?"

"Mm."
A 'little shaken'? It was clear to Dark that she was downplaying it a little - pulling herself right up to that table, resting her head atop her arms as she leaned against the table. The Impmon returned a simple nod to Iris' comment - and a message back, as their shadows intersected.
Then she has the mettle to take this on. That lack of 'thought', of 'emotion', is what makes us survive these encounters.
The Impmon gave a slow sigh outward, and pulled up a newspaper as Holly asked that question. "As to be expected, they're making quite a story out of it. The Count's mysterious disappearance, and the hole left in the chair. At the moment, they're wondering if the Count was ever murdered. Current investigation's revealing a number of debts he had with the underground that remained unpaid. They think that one of them might be responsible, or that he simply fled town when the heat was on him."
Of course, that meant no-one was implicating them, a key factor in all of this. For the moment, the Impmon simply slid an envelope across the table, nodding towards the Meicoomon.
"Your cut, in this."

The meicoomon scratched at her head staring quietly at the Impmon for a few moments. Unsure what to really say or do as it was obvious to her that shade probably said something to him. That flick of attention or the just lack of gentle re-assurance from the shademon was what led her to figure that. But she didn't much care what the other would of told them if that was the case.
Iris had to pause for a moment and simply exhaled. Yes he was right on that. But he was constantly being surprised just at how much they were able to mold this meicoomon.
It was... surprising to say the least. Especially so early.
The shademon pulled back and shifted his attention back up to holly who was now paying a fuller level of attention to that impmon as he explained out what the news had said about the count. His mysterious disappearance. The hole left in his chair... then everything that was sort of placing pieces to one another to make it seem like he was just trying to escape from his 'debts'. Or that he had been killed by one of them; but the lack of implications towards the group of assassins...? Well that was good right?
"So it worked out. My first... Job? What... What next? After this twenty four hour break?"
Holly blinked and looked down at the envelope slowly picking it off of the table. Her cut? She... wait she was getting paid for this? There was a dubious look on her face for all of a moment before she'd quietly open up the envelope to peer at what was in it. There was a brief moment and she'd let out a small sigh.
"I don't. I don't understand."

Of course, it felt a bit surreal. The first endeavor was one that often got burned into the hearts of these assassins, and it seemed that it would be no different for Holly.
Even as Dark explained the news, she seemed distant and unsure, as if the weight of her actions was starting to fall back onto her. But she had gone past a bridge of no return: with that one act, she had sealed her position into their ranks. Her first question was one that made the Impmon raise a brow.
He sighed, and then answered:
"You'll train. You'll live your life, both in the Network Plains and here. And you'll be kept in touch for your next assignment."
It would be then that the Impmon would press that envelope towards Holly - and as she looked, well, she might see what she expected: her payment. This was a large stack of bills, enough to even be felt through the envelope at both sides, her sizeable cut for participating in this act. This was after deducting Dark's, and even Iris' cut - and of course, the amount held by the guild to keep this place running.
She didn't understand.
But Dark did, at least in his own heart:
"We are assassins. We stop the fights that might tear up this world's cities before they ever happen. And when we do so, we are compensated for our services." Dark's tone was direct, not leaving much room for misinterpretation.
"Take some time to figure it out in your own head. And, Iris, spend some time with her. Show her how to vent excess data."

Holly flicked her ears a little bit and rubbed at her head, staring down at that envelope for a few long moments. Then of course he gave her an answer. She'd live both this life and the one in the network plains. She'd be kept in touch for the next assignment and expected to pull through. She'd close her eyes and nod her head.
"I... see."
There was so much in here wasn't there? Well.. she'd have to ask syre about how much this actually was. Barring that she'd have to ask her father and she wasn't looking forward to that. She still didn't quite understand the concept of money in itself.
"...All right. I... I get it."
The young digimon let out a sigh and iris glanced up at Dark when told to teach her about venting that excess. He'd shift awkwardly and glance at the meicoomon who was still rubbing at her head.
"There's not much left to vent, but I'll show her how to vent what's left."
The shademon gave a small shrug and the meicoomon stuck out her tongue in a somewhat sickly sort of manner. She still could taste that peppermint whiskey. Though after a few moments she'd hop down from the seat gripping at her head. It was going to be weird to explain any of this to anyone outside of the group. For a time she'd have to... well... Try to act peachy? She wasn't a good actor though...

"Hm. Teach her to be more efficient at it - we don't want to cloud our own data signals that much."
And with that, Holly and Iris would be left to sort out the immediate effects of their little job. Holly wouldn't be used to their process, but for them, it proceeded much the same way. Their actions cause a big wave in the news, and investigators are on the seen, pouring over it for any piece of evidence. A few calls are made in to the papers in Whitewater and Terminus, wanting any information on what happened. It becomes the biggest talking point for a few days...
... And, inevitably, everything falls silent. No new leads, no evidence found, nothing solid enough to figure out what happened. In one week, its left to the margin of the paper, and in two, there's simply no trace that Count ever existed.
The next time Holly would be due back in the hideout would be about a half-week after the initial incident, where, already, news of the Count's disappearance was already falling into nothing more than mere speculation. Holly would've had time to level herself out - and, as far as the Boss was concerned, she'd be ready for normal training.
... But how would she be, after recovering from her first job?

"Understood."
The shademon would simply agree with Dark and let that be, she'd have time to learn it a plenty in this job too. She'd have to learn it eventually and the earlier the better, didn't help that she was a quick learner. The shademon followed after holly once she hopped down. Going to go relax, do some exercises and try to sort of keep herself busy for the rest of the 'day'.
Holly heard quite a bit of what happened from the news over the next week. It wasn't hard considering it was all over the place in two cities, but it seemed to her that luminas didn't care about it or they just simply knew better. She'd tune into radio discussions about it frowning as they speculated what could of happened and what probably did. Not once did anyone mention the word assassin in it.
When the silence about the topic came it only ended up making her furrow her brow further. Taking her time to sort of dig through what she kept, what was missing and what she could use. There wasn't much here or there and she simply made sure that the money from the event was stashed away somewhere. In the floor-boarding under her bed back home. Once she figured out what it really meant to her she'd use it. But for now it was safer out of her paws.
Coming back to the hide out holly's eyes had gotten a lot sharper. A lot brighter, she had managed to work through a lot of the issues with Iris' help. Some of it was hard to swallow and some more of it she wasn't sure how to properly address.
During that time she additionally had taken care of her 'cover' with Iris. Dropping off that guard admittance training slip to her parents. She spun a story about it being able to help her with a bunch of the issues she had been having as of late. She wasn't sure if they were ready to accept that but at the very least it'd keep her busy while she figured out schooling.
Sliding down that slide and landing properly on the mats the meicoomon blinked and looked around. What was on the menu for this time around? What else would she be doing...?

It took Holly a little less time than Dark expected to fully come around.
As Holly made her return to Fall Lane, once more falling on those mats, she'd catch sight of that front hall again. This time, Wolf and Star were peering over a map, doing a last review of a potential target in Terminus. The Peckmon himself sat off in the corner, holding out for the 24 hours after his own job. And, perhaps to Holly's surprise, Boss was also at the same table as Wolf and Star, but only as an observer to the Lobomon and Shurimon's musings.
When Holly made her entrance, however, the Ravemon stepped over in the Meicoomon's direction with a nod. "I'll honestly say, you surprised us, Holly. But now, I suppose you're a part of us, the same as anyone else is here. Brothers and sisters in both arms and blood." The Ravemon gave a chuckle, and produced a key - one that Holly would recognize quite well, a copy of the one the Impmon had to open the back entrance to the alleyway. It was placed into Holly's palm, the Boss giving a nod towards her. "From now on, you'll be working with all of us, in planning and execution"
He'd give a nod - and even a quick pat atop Holly's head - before he'd return to that table. As for Dark, if she was so inclined, she'd find the Impmon back in the training room, hands taped as he hit that beat-up sandbag.
'Business as usual'.
