Luke's closer look revealed that there was no visible scar. The resilience of digimon sometimes was truly incredible. "I don't mean that it physically hurts," he clarified, "I mean when I think about it, I still remember exactly what it felt like." Flamedramon winced, then; he had remembered it just as he was talking about it. Luke called his attention to something else, though, which made the phantom pain fade right back away.
"I've heard of the Shining Sea, but I've never seen it." The drake's eyes turned wide as dinner plates as Luke told him that theory about the crystals. To him, the digivice was one thing he still knew as little about today as the day Leith got it. "What the heck are these crystals doing here, then? Shouldn't they be in a lab somewhere, studied, put through every test they can think of?" It seemed Luke had accidentally stumbled upon the greatest subject of curiosity for Flamedramon thus far. "Oh, someone is doing it, then. KIZ... them." Flamedramon fumbled with the name halfway through and gave up on it. "Another institution I don't know anything about..."
Flamedramon pursed his lips and took a deep breath. "I think I need to get out of town more. It might be dangerous, but I feel completely in the dark!" Flamedramon's carelessly swaying tail bumped a pedestal, which made him turn around and look guilty, but fortunately neither it nor the glass case on top of it looked damaged. Phew. Still, it wasn't like him to be that careless. "Ever since Niko we've been keeping our heads down and just living on. I'm getting tired of that!" Even though Flamedramon's words alone sounded angry, there was also a hint of something slightly more positive in his tone. "I want us to get back out there! Go back to being the adventurers we used to be! You know? Because you're..." Flamedramon didn't seem completely sure he wanted to finish that thought, but in the end he decided to. "...because you are. And you have. And I don't wanna play catch-up all the time. Not to you, and not to myself either... or, not to 'Chuuji.'"
Flamedramon swallowed, but his lips also curled slightly upward. "When we destroyed that tower, I was someone making a difference for once - and I went out and did it because I wanted to, not because trouble came to me." For a while the Flamedramon hadn't quite been managing eye contact, but he remembered how to do it at long last. "I wanna be more like you."

Luke was relieved to see there wasn't a lingering scar. As dashing as it might have been, Luke preferred his boyfriend not to have any places of lingering pain. If he did, he would've done all he could to help relieve him of that pain. "Alright, Blue, if you're sure of that" he'd say, smiling. Had they not been in a public place he would have playfully kissed the spot, but, well, public place and all that.
The Shining Sea exhibit seemed to make Flamedramon truly interested, which made Luke delighted. "I know, right?! So much things could be discovered here, yet... it would be kinda risky to delve too far into it without precautions. I mean..." he turned to the shining crystals, putting a paw to his chin in careful thought. "If these crystals power Colin, Leith, everyone else's digivices, it might be something of a risk to mess around with them..." then a thought came to him. "Ah, maybe if we could get an independent digimon to investigate them, maybe that could work?" his ears flipped upwards in excitement. "Do you know any digimon without a partner that could help with this sort of thing, Blue?" he'd ask Flamedramon.
Luke cast those thoughts aside when Flamedramon said he didn't know anything about KIZNA. "It's basically a group devoted to discovery in the digital world. An Archaeology team so to say" the Teslamon explained.
Luke would then listen to Flamedramon as he told of his musings. Luke gasped as his tail struck a pedestal, but was glad nothing broke. He remained silent as Flamedramon spoke his mind, that the encounter with Niko had made them be very cautious about further encounters in the digital world. And that he didn't like that, he wanted to get out there and do things, just like Luke, his brother and his partner were doing.
Hearing Flamedramon say "Chuuji" again made Luke gasp a little, making him reach up and pat his shoulder with gentle sympathy. He knew the memories of his previous fallen partner must hurt.
With the final statement, Luke smiled, then nodded. "I'm glad to hear that, Blue, and... to be honest, I think I'd really like it if we did something like that together" he admitted. "Both of us, with our partners and brothers, working together to help out others. We can make great things happen around the digital world where they need us, don't you think?"
For a moment, the Teslamon could picture a moment where he, Bellamy, Flamedramon and Shoutmon were doing something as great as the feat they had performed over Whitewater. Bonded by courage, love and friendship, protecting the meek, preventing horrors among innocents and helping everyone for the greater good. Still, such was daydreams, and he didn't actually want something like that to happen. If he knew anything, it was that yearning for moments of glory generally brought more suffering than good things.
"So, anyway..." Luke would say instead. "KIZNA's stationed itself in an old village in the Shining Sea. It's called 'Ys', last I heard. I have some friends there; there's Nik and Brad the Grizzmon if you've met him, then there's Yuuki and Hikaru the Dorumon, who's Owen's fiance" he was curious to see if Flamedramon recognized any of those.

Asked about knowing a digimon who could help in that sort of research, especially one without a human bond, Flamedramon could only shake his head. Maybe he knew one or two digimon without a partner, but he had no reason to think they had the required skill set. Heck, even the drake himself couldn't be sure what that set would be. "We've tried a lot to just try and open the digivice. Would you believe Leith's even took Shoutmon's best mic stand hit without a scratch?" Oh, well. If anyone could solve the mystery, KIZNA sounded like the best people available to try the way Luke described them.
More important to the blue digimon was that Luke really seemed to listen and understand his point of view on the experience disparity between the pair. Even better, his boyfriend expresses agreement and support like he needed. Flamedramon's shoulders slumped, and the corners of his lips were tugged upward without any conscious effort from him. How'd I get so lucky?
Minding his tail more closely now, he tried to continue on through the exhibit, but it was a little harder while the same tail slowly swayed from one side to another, his nonverbal expression of contentment. "I've met Owen a couple times," Flamedramon replied, "including today, even though I didn't really speak to him. I've never met his fiance, though." Owen's upcoming nuptials were a surprise when Flamedramon first heard of them given it was less common among digimon, but when he first heard about them was weeks ago in a pub. "But if anyone deserves it, I think he does!" Not latching onto the other names might have indicated they weren't meaningful to Flamedramon.

Flamedramon shook his head on that subject. Luke's ears flopped a little as he nodded in understanding. "I've heard of a few myself, but, I don't think I'd trust them yet" he admitted. A Datamon in Terminus City, for instance, he seemed more shifty than trustworthy.
"You... did what?!" Luke gasped as Flamedramon revealed just how much they had done to investigate their digivices so far. "Blue, please don't let that happen again!" he would grow a little frantic, but not extremely so. "These digivices... we don't know their formula or their origin... and as far as we know, our partners only get one, so please don't do that again?" he would be distraught if they made a critical breaking and rendered their digivice useless, and thus render them powerless.
Luke took a few moments of deep breaths to regain his composure. He relaxed a little at the sight of Flamedramon, realizing that Luke felt like he wholly trusted him. "I'm sorry for that, Blue, just... don't want either of us to lose what we've got so far, you know?" he asked. And since digivices seemed to be the key to every ounce of power they had above Rookie, he hoped that there was a way to research more on that without risk of ruin.
One of the main things that had convinced Luke that Flamedramon was a good digimon was how he stayed his hand when they had fought Niko. In fact, had he not, they would probably not be here together now, as romantic partners. Of course, eventually, Luke would very dearly like to help him to sort out his past, but, it seemed there was a lot left in the digital world to sort out first, so, as long as it wasn't too heavy on his boyfriend's mind, Luke hoped to solve more solveable problems first. Especially since he felt that nothing positive could come from it at this moment with minimum knowledge. But, when the time was right, the Teslamon would do his best to help his boyfriend come to peace with his past.
When Flamedramon next spoke, he mentioned Owen. That made Luke smile. "Glad to hear it. I like Owen too, haven't seen the guy angry at anything... yet he's got a certain air to him that if you push him too far he'll hurl the moon at anyone that threatens the village or his family". He wouldn't say more than that though. Luke only knew a little about Owen's past, especially with rumours about the DWR, and he didn't really want to gush about him right now.
"I hope you can meet his fiance one day. Hikaru's pretty charming" he said, although his smile faded a little. "Still... he and his partner's been through a lot too, so, word of advice, if you do meet Hikaru, maybe not pry too hard into his and Yuuki's past?"
Hopefully this would be enough on that subject for now. Luke would then pay attention to the rest of the Shining Sea exhibit, at least, the best he could until he couldn't really stand being so close to his boyfriend without being able to express how closely he wanted to be with him at the moment.
"So, uh, Blue... if it's okay with you, do you... maybe wanna head back to the inn for a while?" the Teslamon asked, his cheeks warm from the invisible red blush behind his fur.

Flamedramon needed no convincing that intentionally smashing the digivice was a bad idea. If anything, he was himself shocked and disappointed that the other two even considered it, let alone that they tried it! Calmly, even with a bit of a chuckle, he explained, "I'm on your side, Luke. I almost ripped Shoutmon's head off when I found out! Hardly matters, though: the screen didn't even crack. I just hope they don't try that with another form..."
What a small world this dimension could be sometimes, though. It seemed that at this point every new friend he made had a connection to an old friend, and if Luke didn't count as a 'friend' per se he still thought the rabbit's human and brother did. At this rate it seemed like just a matter of time before Flamedramon met this 'Hikaru,' and maybe it would even be by accident. Heck, for all he knew, he may have without even having known it (though he really didn't). "The digital world is a lot smaller than the human world. Something tells me we'll run into each other." Of course he didn't mean that literally.
He also knew a thing or two about discomfort with one's past, and not just because of himself.
At first Flamedramon wanted to take that invitation back to the inn casually, having remembered that others of Luke's family were in town and assuming they would spend a little time together with them. Luke's bashfulness, however, did betray the warrior's true intentions in the end. Good thing Flamedramon was wearing a mask. The drake's tail started to carelessly whip some more, but fortunately for everyone he was far from anything destructible this time. Flamedramon turned almost equally shy as he understood what Luke was getting at, but there was also a sort of slyness in his eye.
"I'd love to," he accepted as he threw both arms over Luke's shoulders and gave him a certain look. That was all he was gonna get, though, for the moment. He promptly let go and started to lead Luke out of the building.

Luke calmed himself somewhat when Flamedramon assured him that he wanted no part in digivice vandalism. The Teslamon smiled at him. "You know, Blue, almost every new thing I learn about you makes me think I made the right decision even more in asking you to be my boyfriend" he said, chuckling a little. Not one thing had been a dealbreaker yet. In fact the more he learned about him, the more he felt that there was to like.
Flamedramon's statement about the comparitive sizes of Earth and the Digital world were astute too. "True. Us Digimon seem to only populate in the millions. The humans go by billions" he stated. Yet... there would always be something... alien about humans to Luke that he felt he could never understand. Humans never digivolved, instead they simply... grew from infancy to childhood to teenagers to adulthood, then to seniority, yet, it was always gradual. Luke wondered if he as a digimon could ever truly understand a society like that. But, for the moment, he'd leave it to Colin to worry about things like that.
At first Luke was surprised to see Flamedramon be so nonchalant about heading back to the inn, but a few grins and winks later and their pace increased considerably. Luke really did like being with his boyfriend, and he would very much like to express this in a way only possible in private.
So much so that when they returned to the inn, they were almost speeding past Luke's brother, partner, niece and friends as Luke quickly greeted them and excused himself. That left Colin blinking with a bit of shock as Luke led Flamedramon to a room that they had booked earlier.
"First you, Bellamy, now Luke" Colin would pout at his partner. He then glanced at Gaz, who was engaged in lively conversation with a passing Dracomon. "Man, I wish I could date that easily" he complained.
"No worries, Col, we can give you a few pointers" Owen said, winking. Bellamy chuckled too with an agreeing nod. Colin blinked between the two - both of them had loving partners and around six to eight children between them.
"...please teach me?" he asked. "Only with, uh, girls though maybe?" he clarified, recognizing that both of them were digimon and things seemed to be different here in that regard.
Luke meanwhile would happily lead Flamedramon to the bedroom that was booked in the inn. He took care to put a 'Do Not Disturb' hook on the door outside, then, once settled, would be delighted to get to know his boyfriend a little bit better today.
