"8:27, and I'm cold and thirsty."
Eden gave a sigh of relief as she arrived at Shibuya Station, getting through the scramble walk was easier this time around compared to the morning and afternoon. Groups of people were enjoying the night as she made her way in her but other than that no real trouble, as expected from a busy crossing. "Now where is she?" The young woman wandered a bit back and forth as she scanned the station for her mother, but found no sign of her so far only those either getting off work or heading to work and groups of young adults and tourist pouring out of the train and onto the scramble crossing. "Dammit," She once again reached into her bag and grabbed her phone, sending a text to her mother.
8:33- Eden: Where are you?
Message Failed. "Are you kidding me?" She hissed, the desire to trash her phone had gone beyond a simple thought, she squeezed her cellular device momentarily before inhaling deeply...and exhaling, she opened her bag to toss the phone back in; however, a sudden light from the inside of her bag caught her eye. She fished around a bit before pulling out the strange device from earlier, the monitor now displaying a rather cryptic symbol across the screen as it seemed to power on automatically. "Take the elevator down to the Shibuya Train Terminal." Eden paused, she had to be hearing things right? There was no way in hell this device just powered on and read her mind, "Pardon?" Her accent surfacing as she stared blankly at the device in her palm.
"Take the elevator down to the Shibuya Train Terminal." The device repeated itself without hesitation as Eden simply nodded her head in response, "Yeah I thought so," She chuckled softly as she made her way down to the lost and found office, this entire night has been one big sleep-deprived, crazy-brained hallucination, and she had just about enough of it, as she reached the lost and found for the first time all night her phone went off with that familiar ping, not wasting a second Eden placed the strange device on the counter and quickly pulled out her phone. A text from her mother which made her skin crawl.
8:41- Mom: Take the elevator down to Shibuya Train Terminal.
Silence, for a few moments there was nothing but silence, not a single thought going through her head as her eyes read the message over and over again before a simple "Nope." escaped her past lips, Eden let out a breathy sigh as she ran her fingertips through her hair, laughing quietly to herself as she began going back the way she came. "Hearing voices, Hallucinating, now I'm getting cryptic text and talking to the ghost of Siri...I'm sleeping in tomorrow." She simply shook her head as she made her way back towards the entrance, and like clockwork, her phone rang, a chill ran down her spine again, followed by a feeling of adrenaline as something inside of her stirred. Her hand finally found her cellular device as it cried out from the depths of her bag. Mom. The caller I.D was enough to make her heart race again as she brought the phone to her ear. "Hello?" her voice was shaky, all of this was too weird for her, and again that same voice nearly drove her over the edge. "Take the elevator down to-" With one swift movement she hung up, ducking off to the side so she wouldn't be an obstacle to those passing through.
"Alright, I'm dreaming...yeah, I've had lucid dreams before right? It's all one crazy dream that's all." Her breaths were heavy and uneven as she leaned back against the wall, trying to make sense of all this. "You really are stubborn aren't you?" That voice of all times it had to be now, What do you want? her mind was struggling as it tried to make sense of all this, pulling together whatever pieces it could to come to any conclusion. "Why not see what happens? worst case scenario you're crazy, horrible case scenario this is some creepy hash slinging slasher and I end up on the 6 am news...Hope they get my good side." She chuckled again, running a hand across her face as she pulled herself together. "Alright let's roll the dice," Eden was about to toss her phone back into her bag and as if on cue the device was back, the silver buttons gleaming slightly as the light shone in.
"Yeah, I'm crazy." She smiled slightly as she shook her head, and pulled out the device as she headed towards one of the closest elevators. "Oh, would you look at that, empty." rolling her eyes she stepped inside, watching the doors shut behind her as she allowed the elevator to descend automatically. Her fingers began drumming lightly against the wall as she felt the elevator going down, "Frere Jacques, Frere Jacques, Dormez-vous? Dormez-vous?Sonnez les matines, Sonnez les matines,Ding, Ding, Dong! Ding, Ding, Dammit," The elevator did a slight shift, following up with a soft thud before the gentle ding of her arrival caused the doors to open, as she slowly stepped out into the terminal.
Her eyes widened a bit as she saw other people walking around, some in large groups, others in smaller or alone- well not completely alone, they all seemed to have these little creatures with them each a different color, shape, and size. Eden was at a loss for words as she slowly stepped to the side, allowing a guy and what seemed to be a walking pile of rocks following behind him, which was polite enough to wave before entering the elevator. "Welcome to Shibuya Train Terminal, your Trailmon will be departing soon." Ghost Siri called out from the device, Eden simply stood there dumbfounded at what she was seeing. Monsters? Or one hell of a fever dream, and what in the name of maple syrup was a Trailmon? "Timeout, Is the real?" she held the device in her palms as she moved by a crowd of people and their entourage of monsters. "Mystery voice? Ghost Siri? If either of you wanna speak up nows the time." She noticed a few others eyeing her as she shook the device, her gaze finding its default lazy glare as she began moving throughout the terminal. Even the trains seemed weird, there was no ticket scanner or anything, just rows of trains the seemed to circle the entire place. "You know crazy doesn't sound so bad right about now," Eden let out her fortieth sigh of the night as she sat down on one of the benches and simply watched the trains. "Do I just pick one?"

Hope you don't mind if I join your thread! Or if my response isn't as long as yours. A chilly winter day, but not cold enough to be an impediment for Amelie's daily life. Some vaguely important tasks were on the horizon, but none critical enough to rob the teenager of her calm, at least at the moment. Plenty of time left.
For now, she was just set on enjoying the remainder of her day, more or less!
Using the Train Terminal to get to the Digital World was something that she seldom did nowadays, but, today was kind of special; the brunette had business to do in Terminus, coupled with the fact that she wasn't very fond of driving and that Ooi was sleeping like a log convinced her to take the long route.
It seemed like her friend's latest escapade had been a bit on the exhausting side. Why could that be? Maybe an abnormally tiring day, or something of the like? She would have to ask about that later; for now, onto the task at hand.
Amy traversed the path towards Shibuya's Train Station at a tranquil pace, and boarded the elevator downwards in the same fashion. Those were motions she had done a fair bit of times, and almost felt automatic at this point.
Once down, blue eyes gave a lazy look around; as far as she was concerned, everything seemed normal; trains departing and arriving, and digidestined from all walks of life and types going through the usual business. Nothing seemed out of the normal, and, in a sense, that was exactly the image the brunette wanted to see.
Not in a hurry to board any particular Trailmon, she just sat in a nearby bench, willing to bask into the panorama a bit more. Truthfully, it was exhilarating.
Or at least it was... until she heard a soft sigh; a bit of an oddity in a place characterized by the high spirits of the usual sojourner. After all, was there any reason to be sad whilst journeying to another world?
Well, yeah; probably a lot of them. But it was rare enough that the teenager's curiosity was piqued. Turning her head slightly, Amelie gazed at the owner of that expression. "Why the long face, miss?" Despite her choice of words, her tone was both casual and friendly, a gentle smile already forming on her face.
What would she answer? Would she even? Not... very likely in a place where everyone minded their own business, but that was fine.
It wasn't like she lost anything by asking.

I don't mind at all! And it's fine, I think I went a little overboard on my post anyway. The young woman sat with her head down for a bit as she tried to make sense of all this, first, she was hearing voices, now all of a sudden she's in some secret terminal where people from all over seemed to just come and go with these strange monsters.
Eden sat on the bench in silence for a while, her hands clasped around the device as it finally silenced itself, she could hear the sounds of life around her as people and trains alike came and went. Various conversations carried on in many directions, was this normal? Had she stumbled upon something so extraordinary only for it to be treated like the ordinary? And there was still the issue of her not having a monster companion like the rest; Maybe she skipped a step, Maybe she really did come across the device by accident, ad the true owner was stuck on the other side searching for it.
"What have I gotten myself into?" she sighed softly, as she simply stared blankly ahead at the coming and going trains; she didn't even notice the other presence come and join her on the bench until they spoke up, sending her mind rushing back to the present moment as she gave a sideways glance towards the new visitor; who- much like the others, had a cool head about all of this.
Eden's grey orbs caught onto the blue of the strangers as she leaned back, staring at the ceiling a bit, "Well you know the usual, just surrounded by monsters and strangers on a train to lord knows where," She chuckled softly as she shook her head again before finally turning her head to face the young woman, a brunette; possibly older or younger, but it was usually rude to ask or so they say. "You seem pretty comfortable about the whole thing, not your first time I take it?" She had to take the opportunity to ask another person, since everyone else in the area seemed to focus on catching a train or looked too exhausted to even acknowledge her, so not too different from the normal station. "So what exactly is all this place? More specifically the flying flowers, talking dinosaurs...please feel free to call me crazy at any time though, delusional is also acceptable." She didn't want to believe any of it since it all went against what she believed to be true. Eden wanted nothing but for all of this to be some crazy dream, and for her to wake up in her crappy apartment to the same old rock music, and missed calls from her mother; however, this...was all too real and she knew deep down that it was real. The voices, the reflection, all of it was real, but she couldn't admit that to herself so she'd use this stranger to get the answers she needed but wasn't sure if she wanted them.
"You really are hopeless huh?" Impeccable timing as always, "Hush," she muttered as her new acquaintance spoke up in her head yet again, she wanted answers and if this woman could provide them Eden wouldn't risk scaring her off because something or someone was feeling chatty again.

Both doubt and confusion were rather obvious on the young woman's face. If Amelie had any say on the matter, those all seemed like common and normal reactions in the face of something as otherworldly as stumbling into the Trailmon Terminal for what she assumed was the first. The whole situation was understandable from her viewpoint, but... each time she had to face it, the brunette always ended up asking herself the same question.
How to tackle it?
From her perspective, Amy could say that her new acquaintance seemed tired and frustrated, rather than surprised and shocked; for a second, she debated whether that was something good or bad, even if the teenager finally settled on answering to the queries directed at her.
"I'd say that the usual seems pretty unsettling to you." Inadvertently, the teenager found herself smirking. This scenario had its own scent of familiarity. Relaxing a bit in her place, she decided to gaze at the ceiling for a moment as well. "I met a girl who reacted just like you in the past; she was even blonde as well. Did you know that they are, like, extremely rare in Japan? I probably can count the number of natural blondes I've met since moving here with one hand."
She chuckled at her own comment before continuing, that had been a funny tangent. "I told her the same thing that I'm going to tell you, since I think it's a fair warning. What you're seeing might be too much to take for a good deal of people, and that's perfectly fine; what they usually don't know before getting themselves killed or... worse is that they can choose to not participate into any of this if they don't want to. The more you know, the more involved you are and, as you can see, if you become involved, a panorama like the one you're currently watching will become commonplace. For better or worse."
That sentence carried a fair bit of implications; it could even be perceived as a threat of sorts, but Amelie hoped it wouldn't be taken as one. She just disliked how some people could take the Digital World nonchalantly, when in truth it could be a pretty unforgiving place if you weren't prepared for it. Now, to answer her question.
"I've been in the know for almost a year, and, honestly? I've come to almost regret the whole deal at least a dozen times, even if I think that it's worth it, ultimately. Most of the people I know think the same, so that's probably a good thing. But..."
Elaborating on crossroads in front of her would take a bit. After a small pause to organize her thoughts, the brunette resumed. "I'll still make the offer that everyone rejects before explaining what's up. If you really don't want to deal with this, I can make you forget this event ever happened and you would be able to resume with your daily life normally. But that's a bit boring, isn't it? The other blonde I met rejected that offer because I told her it would feel a bit slimy." And now, with that out of the way... "I'm not sure if it's relieving or worrying, but you're not crazy; at least not if you think you are because of this. What you see before you is real. And I guess that the best way to explain it in few words is to ask you to imagine every fantasy or sci-fi work or setting you know about, mix them together and then double up on the volume of weirdness. That's the deal with digimons, more or less. And the best part is that each human gets to have at least one!"
Even if not quite in... the strict sense of the word. Amy had peered at the digivice in between the woman's hands, and had recognized its shape almost instantly. "I like the colors of the one you got, by the way. They're pretty." In a lazy motion, she brought out her digivice. Yup, same model than hers. "Mine looks a bit too edgy, at least in my opinion. I wish the colors were softer or lighter. That'd look way better on me, don't you think?"

At this point, Eden had already accepted her incoming insanity but it never hurt to have a second opinion, especially from a stranger who knew nothing about you, it was both cost-efficient and painless in the end so a win-win scenario no matter how it folded.
The young blonde had begun pulling another piece of gum from her bag, to help at least give her something familiar to latch onto for the time being while the stranger explained the current situation, and found herself chuckling quietly at the opening statement. "Where'd you read that a fortune cookie?" but at the same time it made a lot of sense. This was the norm for almost everyone in here, no one else seemed to be fine with the current situation and fairly accustomed to the environment.
Eden's brow simply furrowed at the young woman's comment on her hair, quite unsure what that had to do with the current problem at hand, but remained silent simply allowing the other to speak her mind. She perked up a bit at the mention of a warning since any form of danger would be nice to know about ahead of time. The dangers of this place seemed to be just like that of a foreign land, watch where you step and what you do...fairly simple but effective at least for those who paid attention and valued life, naturally she wouldn't go around throwing herself into danger, although, who's to say she hasn't already. "Pretty cryptic, but thanks for that warm welcome."
The warning did stick in her head though, and the potential for danger did seem pretty real especially when thrown into a situation like this. "So why exactly do people and up here? If it's such a dangerous place wouldn't it be smarter to just walk away if your well-being is at risk?" She waited until the woman's brief pause before asking, as she toyed the device in her hands. Everything was slowly coming together but at the offer of wiping the entire occurrence from her memory made Eden shudder a bit as she slid over a bit on the bench. "What, are you like a government agent? and why would it be slimy?" Then again it wasn't the strangest thing to happen to her in these recent events.
She managed to regain her composure for the third time this evening as she began accepting the strange reality she was now apart of. "I think...I'd rather keep the memories, as strange as it may be I feel drawn here, and who doesn't love a good mystery? I kinda want to know more because it doesn't make sense...don't worry that's the insanity talking." shaking her head softly as she managed to somehow keep a cool head about this, but knew it would be more than what she expected.
"So Digimon, are these weird little guys walking around? And I wouldn't assume they were like pets or anything like that...so what's the deal, don't feed 'em after midnight? Forgive me I'm just trying to process all of this and you said we all get one right? Well did I skip a step or something? because all I got was this thing, and mild paranoia." She held up the strange device in her hand before looking down at the small blank screen, whoever made this could've been nice enough to send instructions. The conversation soon took a turn when the color of Eden's device was complimented, causing another confused look to dance over the blonde woman's face.
"Yours is nice too, but I suppose softer colors would look better with you, speaking of what are these called anyway? I call mine ghost Siri but I'm sure you all have some sort of technical term for them."

Amelie knew her explanation wasn't very in-depth, and that it was probably going to confuse the blonde more than to help her, but... wasn't that pretty much the nature of the Digital World? Half-hearted explanations, not-quite answers, and more enigmas than certainties. In all honesty, not even the brunette knew all about the strange place; but would still try to aid to the best of her ability, should her new peer managed to weather the cryptic nature of her statements.
Still, it was nice to see that, above all, humor prevailed! "Fortune cookies usually aren't that big to hold in long sentences. Fortune cake, maybe? My birthday is relatively soon, now that I think of it..."
It was quite a scatterbrained impression, wasn't it? But it wasn't like that mattered, anyway! Nodding appreciatively at the 'compliment' received, she decided to spare words about it, and jumped directly at the next query.
"Why do people practice extreme sports?" Answering a question with another wasn't very polite, but it was a nice way to picture what happened over here. "You're right; choosing to not have anything to do with this place is definitely the smart thing to do if you want to avoid harm to your well-being, but as most people would reply... 'where's the fun in that?' You can consider it a form of escapism, but truth is, that having knowledge of a parallel world, being partnered with a native from that world and having the possibility of living amazing adventures is too good for most people to pass up, considering how boring any given person's daily life can be. I won't deny it; the thrill is real."
A hearty, but short-lived giggle ensued at the following statement. "Nah, working for the government is boring. Sides, most of them are the good guys; wouldn't injure a fly unprovoked. If you ever find somebody saying they work for AEGIS, it's them." And, after a small pause, she added. "My partner is the one who can tamper with memories. And let's say that it feels a bit... funny to touch. Wouldn't recommend you to do so unless you didn't have any other choice."
Luckily, that option was out of the picture. A quick nod in affirmation was enough to kill that course of action on the spot. A sigh of relief escaped the teenager's lips; while it was an option she didn't doubt on exposing, actually getting to do it wasn't something she was a fan of. It could get really unpleasant, actually.
Time to focus on the important things now. "Yup. Every living being in your line of sight that's not a human is a digimon. They're the denizens of their very own world; the Digital World. The living trains on the platforms are called trailmons, and their job is to get humans and digimons from one world to the other. Board one, and you'll end in the biggest city of the Digital World, Terminus. Quite the sight, if you ask me."
Elaborating on the matter wasn't as simple as she would like to. But hey, that was part of the fun. "Digimons aren't pets, though. They're sapient beings; I'd say that most humans see their partners as peers, but I don't have enough experience in the field to be sure about it. They can be pretty much anything, from dinosaurs to plants to mammals to angels to... pretty disgusting stuff. Regarding the fact about your penchant to skip steps... have you seen a digimon around me?"
Everything had a pretty simple reason. Once again, Amy pointed at the woman's device. "The general term for them is Digivice, but they come in many forms and models. The one you're holding at the moment is called D-Tector, and also happens to be the reason why there's no visible partner around you. It might not be the case, but you might've been hearing voices, or maybe another presence inside your head? That's your partner."
Just a bit unsettling! Amelie sighed before continuing. "The gist of it is that your partner or partners are dead. The flip side is that they're spirits, and that you can interact with on a very... intimate way, so to say. Using your partners' spirits and your body as catalyst, you can become a digimon and gain a slew of amazing abilities. Nice, ain't it? Most D-Tectors come with a single spirit within them, so you could technically turn into a digimon right away if you wanted and toyed a bit with your digivice. The bad news? The rest of the spirits are probably scattered around, and you'll have to find them if you want to gain access to more powerful forms."
She wasn't nearly as finished, but hopefully that'd be good enough! "Oh, and one last warning. While you may share the common goal of finding the rest of your spirits with your partner, they may or may not have good intentions. Wouldn't be the first time I've seen a digimon trying to use a human's body as a proxy of their own lost body, or something of the like! Remember that these guys should be pretty ancient, and that means that most of them are quite clever."
Too ominous? Maybe.

So far everything was adding up, at least for the moment, and the way the teenager answered only left more questions, but perhaps that was the intent. A world existing outside of what Eden was accustomed to seemed to be filled with mystery so having all of her questions answered in a crash course like this would only overload her mind, so part of her appreciated the ambiguous responses.
The young woman's satisfied reaction to Edens' fortune cookie comment brought something of a smile to the face of the blonde as she decided to entertain the thought. "How would that even work? Would they put the fortune in the cake or write it in the frosting?" The mention of a birthday gave the young woman a window to ask, "How old are you anyway? You seem to know a lot about this place but you also look pretty young."
Her focus was turned back onto the topic at hand as she pondered over the question directed towards her. The brunette had a thing for answering questions with a question, but her analogy did tie into the current situation.
"Makes sense I guess, I'd imagine everyone has their own reason to come back, but the thrill of it all could be the main attraction," she noted as her eyes went back out onto the various people as they continued to come and go. "Hell, that's probably why I'm still here, although this isn't exactly my ideal vacation." Admittedly this was probably the most exciting thing she'd done in a while and even her new associate was attracted by the thrill of a new world. Did she really want to go back to living the same daily routine? Surely she could fit a new expedition into her daily life as well.
She gave out a gentle huff of air as she reached up, pinching the bridge of her nose while she laughed along with the other before she continued explaining. "So what they're like the government here? Or a group of self-proclaimed officials?" Were their groups like that? and if the brunette called them good then what was she? Maybe just a normal traveler, she didn't exactly scream evil, but you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. "Oh...well weird, but I think I'll keep the memories, for now, I'll give you a call if I change my mind." She shuddered again at the thought...come to think of it the woman never told her why it would be slimy, maybe it was better left unsaid.
"I see, so this is their world then, and this digital world is beyond the terminal, interesting. Which also raises the question as to why we're here, but that's a bit too loaded and probably has too many answers so you don't have to answer that." Eden looked over each Digimon as they passed by with their partners, her attention turning back to the brunette as she brought up her missing partner as well. "I mean, I just assumed it was hiding or something."
A shiver ran down her spine as the other spoke, mentioning hearing another voice or feeling another presence in her head. "Oh, so there's just a dead and very chatty Digimon in my head who may or may not want my body, sweet." The original thought creeped her out a bit, although, she was tempted to see what it was all about and exactly how she could use this power and what she could learn from it. "Again cryptic but very helpful, so I take it that these other 'spirits' might be more or less the same."
"So where would I find the others? I doubt there's a map just laying out every location but never hurts to ask."

The blonde had posed a very interesting question. How could fortune be conveyed through a cake? There were many options, that was was for sure. "Well, writing it in the frosting can work, but if you want to go full fortune cookie, maybe you can just use a sheet of baking paper and casually forget it inside the cake. Wouldn't that be surprising? I'm sure nobody would expect something like that on their cakes!"
Unnecessary answer aside, a smirk graced the brunette's face at the question that followed next. Wasn't age the third or fourth thing you asked about? Well, if you asked about it at all. "You know that's kinda impolite, don't you? Asking a girl her age, and out of the blue at it!" She paused and shrugged. "Seventeen. What's your name?"
Wasn't she supposed to answer back with the same question? Maybe, but ages didn't mean a lot to Amelie, and besides, she needed a better way to refer to her new acquaintance rather than 'blonde' or 'foreigner'; a name would be lovely, even if not getting one from such a sudden question was somewhat understandable as well.
Good thing her analogy was understood! Everyone had their reasons to participate in the whole Digital World thing, but the teenager had pretty much named the thrill of a new and fantastic world as the main reason, something which was probably true, at least at the start. "Fair enough. If you manage to survive your first week and so, I think it's overall worth it. Not to say that, usually, people make a lot of good friends or acquaintances on their travels; I think I have met a handful of my current friends in there, so that's a good thing!"
What about AEGIS? There wasn't a lot to say about them, except that they could be called 'the good guys'. "They have government backing and operate mostly in this world. They are responsible for keeping the secrecy of the whole Digimon deal intact. After all, living beings from another world that are capable of breathing fire and can potentially cause widespread destruction in the hands of minors isn't a very good recipe, isn't it? Even in adults, one could say that the whole deal is kinda dubious, but as long as everyone behaves and word doesn't get out, you'll be good."
She gave a gentle nod towards the final negative towards her offer; not like Amy expected any different, to be honest! "Sure thing; I'd rather not go erasing memories willy-nilly, but if you ever need to forget anything in particular and don't mind a little sliminess, you know I'm the girl for the job."
Kind of a shady offer, and probably one that no one on their right mind would pick, truthfully. Not worth to dwell on that for too long, though. "Nah, we're not quite in the Digital World right now, so this is still our world; whether you want to call it planet Earth or Human World or whatever, that's up to you, by the way. Their world is after riding one of those living trains, so don't worry about the metaphysical implications just yet. If I were you, I'd just... take it slow for now, and try to not think too much about it; things will begin to make sense once you get to experience them firsthand, or at least that's what I'd like to say!"
After all, life is just a constant search for answers that end up raising even more questions. "Well, technically it is hiding, isn't it? Just that it's inside my head, rather than in a physical location." A short-lived snicker followed her comment, at least the blonde seemed to adapt to this foreign situation quite quickly! "Yup, you nailed it; that's more or less our deal. I guess that the first thing you should find out is if that your spirit is benevolent or not, or if all the spirits correspond to the same being, or are actually different beings; both are equally possible. I've seen some spirit wielders have pretty intense conversations with 'themselves', so to say. I probably wouldn't be able to handle five or six voices within my head without thinking I'm going crazy or something of the like."
Once again, she nodded. "Roughly, yes. Each spirit should be bound by a common trait; an element. Finding out which element you've got may help you to discern a fair bit of things about your spirit; the quickest way is to just ask, but some just refuse to answer, so... good luck with that. Evolving sometimes helps you get an idea of what your element may be, even if it's not a guaranteed."
For stuff like Water or Fire, it was pretty handy, though! Now... "I wish I knew that answer; most of the time, those spirits reside within totems, and their location may become obvious from one moment to the next; there's really no surefire way to know where they exactly are, even if you can trust your spirit to help you with that every now and then. From what I've seen, they tend to range from five to seven, so not even the exact number is set in stone; sorry I can't help you more on that regard, but spirit hunting isn't an exact science, sadly."
Oh, how Amelie wished it were. That would save her a lot of headaches.

The fortune cookie conversation had taken a pleasant turn, surprisingly, but Eden continued to entertain the thought as the exchange went on. "What if you cut the fortune though? then someone's gonna end up with a surprise in their slice then again I don't bake often so I don't know how thick said paper is. Although it does seem like a nice surprise."
Eden couldn't help but tilt her head at the woman's defense for her rather forward question, she made a small gesture with her hand as to acknowledge her own figure. "I mean I'm a woman too, so if anything it would be acceptable for me to ask, no?" she simply shrugged before the reply, a look of disbelief clearly washing over her features. "Seventeen? Eh, then again you do have the look so I shouldn't be too surprised. Also, I'm Eden, twenty if you're curious and you are?"
She figured she'd just throw in an answer to her own question, not like it made much of a difference, but it put them both an equal ground again, which in reality didn't matter but it only seemed fair.
"So it's basically high school all over again." She muttered with a stale tone before letting the brunette finish. "Jokes aside, this place is an actual community then? but everyone has a different path...interesting." The new viewpoint made it a lot more clear that she wouldn't just have to adjust to a new world, but a society where humans and Digimon had to coexist, or at least attempt to.
Now AEGIS, whoever they were, seemed to be running the show behind the scenes and had a strong foothold here, and within good reason, keeping this all under wraps and out of the public eye seemed rather sensible, but what about the people who simply took the elevator up and out of here with Digimon in tow? "I see, well I'll let them do what they need to and I'll expect the same."
Again she shook her head to confirm a final denial of the young woman's shady offer, before chuckling. "Can you erase the part about it being slimy?" Partially a joke, even though the idea still made her skin crawl it could still prove useful in the future.
"I see, well I'll just call it Shibuya then." She was pleased to know that she hadn't completely vanished from the world she knew, a part of her was curious about this other world though, and exactly where these Trailmon would take her if she boarded one, what was this digital world like? But maybe she should take it slow before rushing off to explore. "I saw people with bags earlier, do humans stay for long periods of time? is there a time difference there?" People disappearing for days at a time had to raise some questions, especially with the numbers she saw coming and going even as they spoke.
This spirit thing seemed pretty complex, but at the same time rather simple, then again her spirit so far had only insulted her and discouraged any act of charity. "Well the jerk in my head likes to question my character and provide jump scares so I doubt I'll get any straight answers," The voice simply chuckled at the statement before returning to an eery silence. "Maybe they just have a flair for the dramatic? but I guess if they're dead they want to pass on some sort of mission?" Eden shrugged the thought aside, maybe she was overthinking again.
"I guess most of this is stuff I'm supposed to figure out myself anyway, if they gave out an entire tutorial on what to do that'd kind of defeat the purpose of communication and this little soul searching quest, it's strange though...have you ever wondered why they don't pass this onto another Digimon rather than a human? I'm sure a Digimon's body would work just as fine...but then again there's that whole species thing, so maybe we're a blank canvas for them." She spoke mainly to herself at this point, but loud enough for the other to hear before she trailed off again.
Eden turned a bit so she was now facing the woman on the bench, a genuine look of curiosity on her face, "So if it's not against the rules or anything, can I ask what your element is? and how the relationship between you and your spirit is." Another loaded question, but if it could help her get through to her own she'd take any help available.

Maybe a tad too casual on her approach, but the conversation about fortune cookies —or cakes, rather—. But that was fine; the casual atmosphere was probably something good in a situation like this; or at least, that much would be hoped. "Well, you end up with a puzzle rather than a fortune." A smirking Amelie said, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. "Now everyone who ate the cake must piece the fortune, almost as if it were an ancient prophecy or something. Sounds pretty fun to me. The paper isn't very thick, though. It's almost like... a normal sheet of paper, more or less." Of course, the main topic of conversation wasn't their supposed ability to craft confectionery, but... digimon and their nature ages and names. Yeah, that was a way more important topic, as far as everyone was concerned. Not being quite sure on how to answer to that question, the brunette adopted a pensive expression. "Maybe? I've just been told that you shouldn't ask a lady her age, not if it was okay if another one did so. But if you say it's fine, I guess it's fine." A shrug was the natural follow-up as the girl who happened to call herself Eden answered her own queries and asked some questions of her own. "As I said, I'm turning eighteen in a couple of months!" Then again, that was a pointless argument. Better to just smile as her name was asked. "Eden, huh? That's a nice name. I like it; sounds biblical and stuff. I'm Amelie, but most people just call me Amy. Pleased to meet you! Hope we can become friends." It was pretty interesting. Usually, pleasantries preceded any kind of weird explanation regarding the Digital World, but this time, it had actually happened later. The teenager could just think that some people just wanted their answers here and now, and that the not-so-important things like introducing oneself or asking the stranger that was explaining you all that stuff some information on the more basic side didn't hold that much priority. Which was fair. Amy couldn't avoid giggling at the comparison drawn. "It is really a bit like high school, isn't it?" Not like she could quite know, though. "Except that High School can't kill you, I think; but you're more or less right! I don't know if the correct word is community, since some people just mind their own business, but that's delving into something that's ultimately a technicality, so it doesn't matter." Respecting the government-backed body was the sensible thing to do, resulting in the brunette nodding sagely at the blonde's remark. If you were going to do anything unlawful, you better have a good reason or be prepared to face the possible consequences, more or less! Too early to even attempt anything like that, though. "I honestly doubt anyone would agree to have part of their memories erased, at least willingly. Even if sliminess were a factor, it'd have to be very traumatic, don't you think?" The joke of sorts reciprocated with a smirk. "Shibuya is a good name. It's what I call this place more often than not as well." Her next question was something pretty smart as well; people could pack really heavily, but most of the time, disappearances went unnoticed. Why? Well... that had a pretty simple answer. "Time is way faster there. One day over here equals to seven days over there; even if you went and spent just Saturday and Sunday there, that'd almost be two weeks! And I don't know about you, but two weeks seems like plenty of time to me. Imagine if you had a free week or something and decided to spend it there; pretty much a month and a half. See where I'm going?" It wasn't hard to guess, unlike... the nature of some spirits. Amelie could totally empathize with how Eden felt at the moment. "Yeah, I totally understand how you feel. I haven't gotten a lot of help from my spirit or spirits either; can't be one-hundred percent sure about it, but that's a sign that they're either the pretty 'ancient and wise' type, or just plain jackasses. Most spirits have unfinished business in either world, and that's why they're not quite gone, but most of the time their natures are so cryptic that one can't really say for sure." Ultimately, the teenager shrugged at their peer. "I have no idea about most of their motives, frankly. And honestly? Each time I try to find out any answers I just end up with more questions in my head. It can be really frustrating from time to time." Waving her hand dismissively, she proceeded to what seemed like her last question for now. "Nah, there are no rules regarding what we can share and what we can't, as far as I know. Besides wanting to keep our secrets intimate? But what do I know." Taking a second to recollect her thoughts, Amy shifted a bit on her bench. "I have no idea what my element; my spirits haven't been very nice on that regard. But... I can guess that it's something mind-related; the exact word eludes me, however. Our relationship started off a bit rocky at first, but I think we've reached a mutual understanding after a bit of time. Or that's what I'd like to think; we pretty much don't interact, as far as I'm aware." Whether that was a good or a bad thing, Amelie wasn't sure yet. But guessed that... that was something that would be discovered eventually.
Exiting this thread due to personal reasons. The conversation had been interesting, yet, time wasn't something the brunette could no longer spare at the moment. The train was about to depart, and that meant it was time for her to board. "I guess we'll see each other around. Or, right now if you're boarding the train! catch you later." Unceremoniously, Amy stood up and made her way to one of the Trailmons. Time to go!
