[Valentine Event] Satisfying Curiosity [Nik/Alan]

Niko 'Nik' Henare had come to love this cozy little town in the Northern Prominence. Located not far from the budding civilization of Ys that was soon to be his home on the digital world, Nik found it had a cheerful charm about it, even in the height of winter.
The cold never really bothered Nik. A large young man - of Maori ancestry, hailing from New Zealand, his adventures had led him to this place. His skill at the sport of Rugby had brought him to Japan, but it was his love of literature and language that had kept him there.
Recently having graduated from high school, Nik had found he enjoyed it far more in the digital world than he did on Earth. Partly because city life was never really his thing, especially the bustling metropolis of Tokyo, and partly because he thoroughly enjoyed spending time with Brad, his friendly Grizzmon partner.
Why was he so nervous then? Sitting alone at a table for two in the Snowflake Inn's dining area, dressed in a handsome long-sleeved black shirt and his best jeans, Nik was there for a reason out of the ordinary - a blind date.
Why had he agreed to this? Because Brad had suggested it. "I read that humans are at their happiest when they have another human to be their romantic partner" the Grizzmon explained after Nik found out what had been arranged. "I know you prefer other males, so I specified that on the tamernet post. And-"
"...Why are you taking care of me though, bro?" Nik asked, incredulously.
"Because I'm your digimon partner, it's my job" Brad said. Nik sighed, Brad was one of the sweetest digimon in the world, but he could be so naive sometimes. Still though, despite the surprise, the more he thought about it, the more Nik was kind of thrilled at the possibilities.
What would this blind date be like, he wondered? Would he be as tall as he was? Smaller? Outgoing and full of life? Timid and preferring the quiet side of life? But most of all, would they be kind? Nik trusted Brad that he hadn't set him up with anyone who was a bad person.
Nik would constantly look at the entrance of the inn, wondering if his blind date would enter at any moment? Brad was nearby too. The Grizzmon was with the band, acting as a bass guitarist for the inn's entertainment troupe. Haunted Threnody they were not, but they knew enough light music to make a good romantic atmosphere as suited for Valentine's.

In spite of the snow and the wind chill, Alan Pantell would take an unnaturally long to walk from the Trailmon station to the Snowflake Inn. At the very least, he was far better dressed for the weather than he was his first time here. Every minute or so he would stop in his tracks and shut his eyes tightly. After opening them, he would proceed to either continue walking forward or pace back and forth before continuing to walk forward. When he would squeeze his arms around himself, the young man wouldn't be clutching a small Veemon in his arms. This stood out to him. Additionally, it stood out to him that it stood out to him, as he realized this is the kind of thing he had gotten used to!
But no, Levi was not by his side that night. He was out on a date of his own. In a way, this should have given Alan confidence - he had seen how quickly that romance had started. It became clear that "should" doesn't cut it. He was anxious as all heck. He needed to just get out of this cold already.
He stepped through the doors of the lobby into the warm light, purposefully looking at and walking towards the nearest wall, to get his bearings. Not while looking as if he was purposefully looking away from something, of course. He stood near the wall, rubbing his hands together to warm up, taking off his gloves, orange winter jacket and black fleece, revealing a warm, modest, long-sleeved red shirt underneath. Next, he tried to gently peel off his grey hat, but as usual, it messed up his dark blonde hair. Luckily, he always kept it rather short, so he was able to pat it down enough to make it look neat, save for the spot of a few cowlicks on the front. He always considered those to be well-placed - even cute, dare he say. He dusted some of the excess still-frozen snow off of his dark blue jeans. He tightened his belt a little, made sure all his various gadgets were still where they were supposed to be on his person, adjusted his glasses, and prepared to turn around.
First, he took a moment to remember what Levi had said to him just before he left for the evening. "You'll do great. You're a wonderful person," he said. He even gave him a kiss on the cheek. Remembering that moment could be likened to putting on a makeup of sorts. It was most likely blush. Finally, Alan gathered his courage, and casually turned to look around, as if looking up from his phone. He gazed across into the dining area, wondering if his blind date happened to be the gentleman nervously eyeing the entrance to the inn. He began to slowly walk over, chuckling at himself.
Heh. Dating. If I still lived in the human world, I'd wouldn't DARE call myself the type. That's what's so good about here, I guess.
"Excuse me," he began, approaching the young man sitting alone at a table for two. Levi had taught him, the first time the tamer and partner had come to this inn, not to be afraid to ask people if they want someone to talk to. Chances are, most of the time, they do. And if not, they say so, you move on. Even so... he still couldn't quite bring himself to ask the question as he meant it.
"...are you... waiting for someone?" He rubbed the back of his head with one hand, offering a good-humored smile.

Nik's heart began to pound as he saw the young man enter the inn, alone. Not even a digimon accompanied him. 'Oh man, is that him?' he thought, trying hard not to stare, but his brown eyes kept flicking and glancing at him. Then the blond young man with glasses saw him and approached. 'It is! Okay, Nik, just keep it cool...' he gave a gentle smile up at him as he approached.
"Yeah, I am" Nik answered, standing up. At his full height he stood about nine inches taller than the person in front of him, he hoped that wouldn't be too intimidating. "You're... Alan I take it?" he asked, speaking these words a little shyly, hesitantly at first, then quickly finishing the sentence afterward.
"Well, I'm Nik. Nik Henare, and... I think my partner set us up on a 'blind date' so to say?" oh god he hoped that was the case here, it'd be so embarrassing if this wasn't the one he was meant to be with. He gave an awkward smile and also scratched the back of his hair.
"So then, that's the case, right?" Nik finished, offering his hand to shake if it was. Seeing the other young man, he did seem kinda cute up close. He hoped this would be a good start.

Alan nodded, clearly and concisely. "Yep! That's me. I'm Alan Pantell. And... yes. I believe he did. Ehehe…" The young man might have been intimidated by the size of his blind date, but he noticed something. Nik was bigger than him by far, and yet both of them seemed equally as nervous about this. Plus, he said his partner set him up on this date. Could it be possible, that Nik, too, had a partner that tended to act as a "social coach" of sorts? "Is your partner here, by the way? Mine couldn't come, he and his boyfriend already had something planned." He looked down a bit wistfully as he said that, likely making it clear just how much he valued his digimon partner, but then he turned his head back up with a smile to eagerly shake Nik's hand. "It's so nice to meet you!" You know, now that he... really... got a... good look... at Nik... it really was nice to meet him. He immediately struck Alan as the type it was hard to be sad around, and the currently partnerless tamer hoped that would indeed be the case throughout the night. Not to mention, well... he was pretty cute, too.

Relief spread on Nik's face as Alan did confirm it was him and that the arrangements seemed to be correct. "Ah that's awesome" he said, taking the moment to look Alan up and down momentarily. He liked the look of him, nice healthy sort of figure. But he wouldn't say things like that just yet.
Alan said his partner already had a date. Nik raised an eyebrow out of curiosity from that, "Really? Huh. Lot of digimon dating lately it seems" he gave a grin. "And yeah, my partner's here, that's him over there" he pointed to the Grizzmon, who was gently strumming away at the bass guitar. He stood out a little, in that he wore a big baseball cap backwards as he did as Bearmon. That and he was easily around nine feet tall as he stood on his hind legs. He noticed that Nik was pointing at him and gave a little wave and a wink before continuing to play, eyes lingering on Alan.
Nik then shook Alan's hand and invited him to sit down at the table. It took a little moment to get comfortable, since his long legs kinda extended a little far under it. "Ah, sorry about that" he pushed himself back a little so he wouldn't take up too much of Alan's space.
Nik was able to quickly make his order of some pork ribs and vegetables, he had made up his mind earlier what he wanted, but waited until Alan made up his mind too. Supposing they could make smalltalk, Nik would then start conversation.
"So... you mentioned your partner, right? What kind of digimon is he?" he asked, tilting his head in query.

Alan looked over at Nik's partner when he was pointed out, and stopped himself from audibly squee-ing. It was an adorable sight. It was times like this that he wished that he could still take pictures and have people in the human world see them. It seemed to be something the internet would appreciate, whether it believed what it saw or not. However, either way, he wasn't about to try and take pictures of someone without permission. He accepted Nik's offer to sit down at the table. "Ah, I don't mind the leg space."
The tamer's eye's widened as Nik made his order. "Oooh, I could go for some of those right now. I'll have the same. So anyway, your partner's a bassist? That's interesting. I'm a drummer. Well, I'm not... in anything at the moment, but I played drums for Haunted Threnody for a bit, if you're, uh aware of them. Do you play any instruments yourself?"
Alan thought for a little bit about how exactly to answer Nik's question. When he says "kind," what does he mean? He supposed he'd simply start describing. "My partner is a Veemon! His name's Levi. He's... super nice, and incredibly supportive. When I first met him... I was... how to say this... a walking self-esteem issue. If it weren't for him, I definitely wouldn't have been able to do something like this... to go on a blind date... heh, let alone just talk like this when I did. Hmm. So, how about your partner? What's he like?" He gestured his head towards the Grizzlymon bassist, who seemed to still be looking at him from earlier.

Nik noted that Brad's eyes lingered on Alan for a bit. He also noted that Brad missed a few more noted on his guitar than before. Not wanting him to get too distracted, Nik gave a quick signal to his eyes, then upward to let the Grizzmon know that he had a job right now. Brad nodded and averted his gaze, his music skill returning to normal.
"Alrighty, if you're sure" Nik said, sitting at a place so that his own knees were barely brushing against Alan's, hopefully not being too intrusive.
Alan would then seem to order the same. Nik was happy by that, it at least showed that their tastes were similar. Alan then remarked that while Brad was a bassist, he was a drummer. That instantly gained Nik's attention. "Oh wow, so you're a musician too?" he asked, eagerly. "Heh, wouldn't mind listening to your drums someday, bro" he grinned. He then realized his cultural tics might be showing a bit here. "Ah, sorry if my language is odd. I was born in New Zealand, so, obviously my English sounds a little different to other places" he explained.
Alan was in Haunted Threnody? "Ohh, yeah, I've heard of them! They started off in Rosewood then started on tours, right?" Nik asked, interested. "Aw, you're not with them anymore? Sorry to hear about that, but, if you were good enough for them to start with I bet you're a ripper drummer" he'd say. "As for me? Nah, I don't play anything but the Haka" he chuckled. Then he realized that Alan might know what that was. "Do you know what that is?" he queried.
Then Alan talked about his partner. "Ah, a Veemon, I've met a couple of those around" Nik remarked. Hearing Alan gush about him made the young man smile with delight. "Aw, that sounds so sweet, I'm glad you two get along" he said. "As for Brad? Well... sadly we were a bit late in our meeting. We were meant to be digidestined, but, I kinda missed the signs at first, so he coped for a while without me. But, we met eventually, and since then, he's just the loveliest huggable big bear there ever was~"
Nik grinned as he reminisced about their past. "When we first met, Brad evolved the moment we touched and then he almost bowled me over as we hugged. He's always tried to be more gentle after that. Appropriate, since he weighs about the same as a small car. But yeah, Brad's just the kindest, sweetest digimon I've ever met" Nik gushed, smiling over at his partner, who gave a grin back, even if he couldn't hear what was being said.

"Oh, of course you can hear me play sometime! Once I find another chance to play on a kit. I don't really get that opportunity very often at the moment. And no worries about your English! I understand you just fine!" Alan also found Nik's speech pleasant to listen to, but that seemed like a strange thing to compliment first, so he kept it to himself for now.
"Aw, thanks! Don't worry, I wasn't kicked out or anything. We agreed the chemistry wasn't there. Doesn't mean I don't still wish I could become better friends with them and try again, or at least the first part, but anyway!" He chucked. "No, I'm not familiar with the Haka. I'm always happy to learn something new, though, if you care to tell me about it!"
Alan was taken slightly off-guard when Nik began describing how he first met Brad. Weirdly enough, it wasn't something he often thought to ask other Tamers. He couldn't imagine why. Had he gotten the impression that people considered it a private matter? Well, in Nik's case, it was clearly nothing to be ashamed of. Alan leaned forward in interest, uttering silent "aww"s at the other young man's short story. Something had caught his ear, two things really, but he saved them until afterwards.
"Aww! That's adorable! But, uh, two questions: how do you know you missed signs in the first place if you missed them? Sorry, three questions: What were those signs? Last question: He digivolved into a... champion the moment you touched? O-oh, don't get the wrong idea; this isn't about disbelief! I-I just wanna know... Levi and I had a lot harder of a time getting him to champion, but, now, well, now that I know what his champion form looks like, I'm pretty glad that one wasn't spontaneous. Eheh. I really wanna know about those 'signs.' If there were signs, if- if there were supposed to be signs, signs before you two met... how did I miss them? How did Levi miss them? How did we find each other, spend nine days together, and still miss the signs?" Alan touched his hand to his face. His hand met with a single tear that had escaped. He let out a quiet gasp, and wiped it away. "I-I'm sorry. F-for... uh... for losing my composure."
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
"It was... strange, for us. It was like, I dunno… almost like lag, or a glitch, or... I dunno. The point is, we met and it was awkward. I found my digivice a day later, but it wouldn't turn on or do anything. Eight awkward days passed. We tried going to the digital world for the first time. We had a falling out before the Trailmon even left the station. We split up the moment we arrived in Terminus. The digivice turned on for the first time to show me my balance when I was doing some light shopping in the digital world for the first time. Only then did my digivice start guiding me to him. We found him in a bar in Old Terminus. A human doctor - according to Levi her name was Cassandra Cross - had patched him up after he got assaulted by a few thugs shortly after we split up. He started sobbing the moment he saw me. I talked to him for a while. Then we hugged. And that part was nice. After that, I reckon we were about as tight as you two, so that leaves me confused: what the heck were those first nine days? Aw, man... I always claim I don't want to talk about it, then blurt out the entire story, we-we're supposed to be on a date... I'm not even talking to you, I 'm talking at you, and this... this is why I like having Levi along. He keeps me from getting stuck in my own head. Urgh. Need I remind myself we're supposed to be on a date? That's good to hear, though. I'm glad it worked out so well for you two."

Nik was glad he was being understood fine. "That's great. A lot of native Japanese speakers have a bit of trouble with my accent sometimes, so if they do, I try to slow down a bit" he explained. As they were waiting, the waiter - a Gabumon, asked if they wanted anything to drink.
"Ah, right. I think I might have a pot of beer if you have it, thanks" Nik said, smiling. While he was below the drinking age of 20 in Japan, usually digimon were fine with serving it to anyone over 18 in the digital world, which he was. Gabumon would then ask Alan the same, then fetch it for them. "I'm not that much of a heavy drinker, just a beer to break the ice never hurts" he said to Alan.
So they didn't part on bad terms? That was good. As for the Haka, "It's basically a traditional Maori war dance" Nik said. "In New Zealand, rugby players are encouraged to learn it, and it's really fun. Although a bit scary sometimes. But... big guy like me? Useful for scaring off those that wanna fight ya. Especially when Brad does it too". If a 6'3" human roaring at the top of his voice while dancing wasn't scary enough, a 9 foot Grizzmon doing the same would be terrifying.
Then, Nik sat and listened with interest as Alan spoke of his own experiences. His smile began to fade as Alan began to get more and more flustered as his tale went on. By the end of it it was almost like Alan was having a panic attack. "Alan... Alan, bro... it's alright, please, relax" he would say gently, reaching out and patting Alan's arm. He thought about hugging him for a moment, but, supposed that would be rude of him to do so without asking, especially when they had only just met.
"It seems clear that you've been through some trauma, and... I'm really sorry that I triggered it" he said, remorsefully. "How about... we don't talk about the past for the moment and instead talk about what we're interested in?" he would offer.
Then, the Gabumon returned, carrying two large plates full of delicious looking food. "Ah, cheers!" Nik beamed as it was put in front of him. He'd take a couple of bites eagerly, then looked back up at Alan.
"So, you're a drummer so far, eh? What else do you get up to?" he would ask.

Alan wasn't ever sure what the drinking age was anywhere in America, so he didn't do much more than stutter a bit in his thoughts when Nik ordered a pot of beer. Meanwhile, Alan asked for a glass of water, specifying that there should not be a slice of lemon on the glass.
"I can understand that. I've never had an alcoholic drink before, but to hear other people speak of it, sometimes I suspect I need an 'icebreaker' too. I... probably won't ever start, though. As for me, as a little kid, I always got a stomachache, every time I went out to a restaurant. Eventually I figured out that that was because I always ordered milk, and always drank it too fast. So now, even if I order something else, I mostly just get water."
Alan indeed tried to picture Brad doing a war dance, and he pictured him doing so on a field with all of the other players being human. Of course, he didn't do too much in picturing the field itself. He was somewhat ashamed to admit he wasn't entirely sure what rugby was, apart from hearing American Football jokingly referred to in a fashion that seemed to imply it was some kind of toned-down version of rugby.
"Ah!"
Alan felt Nik touch his arm.
Trauma? Really? Am I traumatized?
He looked around at his surroundings. The lighting was warm and pleasant. The dining area was cozy. It was quiet, save for the music playing. The music was relaxing, too.
"Oh, uh... thank you. I mean, for snapping me out of it. It's- it's fine. I'm sorry, too. I should... probably start using a stock response to replace that story, like, 'we had a rough first week or so,' eheheh. That... that sounds nice. Let's talk about that, instead." A spark of happiness lit in his heart when the food arrived. "The pork ribs should help a lot. Oh yeah, and the vegetables, too!" He chewed some of the meat with his head back and his eyes closed. "Mmm! Divine... and not in the Luminas sense, in the good sense. Very good, I should have said." He hadn't ever been to Luminas, as he had been instructed not to go there by Levi's rescuers, and someone in a different, less seedy bar also didn't seem to think too highly of it, so he figured it was a safe joke to make. Unless Luminas happened to be so bad it was a touchy subject, but that didn't seem to be the case.
"Other interests... well, even in the digital world, I still value my video games, but I've found, now that I live in this world, I spent a lot more time just... exploring. Wandering around. I don't go outside of the established settlements without accompaniment, though. We're pretty cautious, but even where we allow ourselves to go, there's just... so much to see. And so many interesting people to meet. The first time we came to this inn, we met a digimon… I don't think she told us her species, but her name was Cion, and we became good friends. Turns out she leads something called the ASCIENSION Project. Trying to make some kinda utopia, they say. I was turned off by the wording, so I didn't join, but as it turned out, we had already met 80% of that project's members by chance without so much as knowing it existed. This included all five other members of Haunted Threnody. Not a single peep. Started wondering if we'd be approached on the basis of being in the band, but then we realized we'd technically already been asked. This isn't going anywhere, it's just funny is all. The point is, social interaction is a much better pastime for me than it used to be."

By now, Nik was fairly sure that the best way to approach his "blind date" was to apply as minimum pressure to him whatsoever. If in honesty, he was a little nervous now, in that if he said anything he'd make him panic again. And of course he didn't want that. With that, he looked over to Brad for a little hope of some silent help, but, to his dismay, Brad couldn't communicate anything that would be valuable to him.
As Nik touched Alan's arm, he hoped he would be able to be more of a positive influence than a negative one. Just... seeing Alan in so much discomfort over such a simple question, he had come here on this blind date to be... a date, not a therapist. All he simply hoped was that Alan was not too fragile to handle this moment. If Nik was honest, if there would be another panic attack like that, he would probably excuse himself and cancel the whole thing. While he did like Alan so far, if he was too emotionally fragile, Nik would not want to hurt him any further.
But for the moment, Nik paid attention to what happened after he touched Alan's hand. "Okay, if you're sure" Nik would say.
Thankfully the food was absolutely delicious. Nik felt his previous inhibitions fade on every bite. His stomach appreciated every mouthful, his tongue relayed that this was one of the tastiest things he had ever eaten, man this was great.
Nik would then continue to eat while Alan spoke. At first he was worried he was launching into another panic attack, but, his explanation just seemed to be an excitable recount.
The mention of Cion meanwhile made Brad's ears wiggle. It was at this moment that he decided to hand his bass guitar to the Ignitemon on standby and crawl forward.
"Ah... excuse me, sorry, did I overhear that you're friends with Cion?" the Grizzmon asked. "Apologies for interrupting, but, I worked with her, before I met Nik. Do you... keep on good terms?" he asked sheepishly.
Nik at first didn't know what to make of his partner interrupting like this, but, supposed that if it was so important that he'd abandon his music and join the conversation that it was indeed important. So instead, he awaited Alan's answer.

Once Alan was finished speaking, he looked down and remembered that he should eat his food before it got cold. It'd be a shame to let those delicious ribs go to waste. He took another bite and savored it, kindly making sure to swallow it and put the rib down before asking saying anything else to Nik. "But that's enough out of me. I wanna know more about you!" He smiled and leaned forward slightly. "So, you mentioned earlier you played rugby. You still do that now?" Alan happily continued eating his meal as he listened to what Nik had to say, making sure to make eye contact and a gentle smile when he wasn't taking a bite.
It came as a mild surprise to Alan that Brad had approached the table. He had been wrapped up enough in the conversation with Nik that he hadn't noticed the large bear leaving his seat. It appeared that Brad was someone else who knew Cion. There was a skeptical part of Alan that wanted to ask if being on "good terms" with Cion was a bad thing, if Brad knew something about her that Levi and he didn't. However, Alan pushed those worries aside easily. "Yeah, we're good friends! We get together ever so often to work together on some of the community service-type jobs around Rosewood Town."

Nik by now had relaxed a little that Alan should be fine from here on out. It was just a one-off thing, they were both a little nervous, he supposed. He supposed they were kind of opposites here, when Nik was nervous he'd become silent. But that, he supposed, was no longer a worry.
He also repeated the word 'supposed' a lot in his mind. Funny that.
The big young man had finished about half his plate by now, so intrigued was he by all the adventures that Alan had. And so when his date turned the question around to him, he smiled a little. "Well then... I admit I haven't had many adventures to the digital world so far..." he was about to recount the tale he had with Adrian, Shoutmon and Coolmon in Terminus City, but thought better against that. He didn't want to make Alan uncomfortable again. Instead he spoke about his interests. "But I can tell you about what I've been doing since I got to Japan. The Rugby thing didn't really work out for me, it was just too much, so... I kinda dropped out of the team. But, I really liked it in Japan, so, I stuck around for a bit longer. My parents were happy to do so...".He ate a few vegetables before they got too cold before continuing, washing them down with a swig of beer, then smiled. "Best part of high school for me though was literature club" he said, this genuinely positive memory making him happy. "I was just taken aback by how many friends I made there. I was a bit of a newbie in Japanese literature, but, English literature, there isn't much more I like than reading a few books in my spare time. And the Japanese students in the club really appreciated me recommending english language books for them. Heh. I think I've spoken more in bookreadings in that place than the rest of my time in high school" he chuckled, hoping that Alan might like this part of him somewhat. "And Brad loves it when I read to him too" he added. "Nothing better than resting by your big Grizzmon partner and reading a book to him... of course we pause every now and then when he gets a question".Speaking of Brad, it seemed the Grizzmon had now joined them, intrigued by something that Alan had said. And it seemed that Brad was pleased with his answer. "That's wonderful! I've been on a few adventures with Cion. She's a lovely digimon" Brad answered, smiling. "Oh, how rude of me to interrupt. My name's Brad. I'm Nik's partner"."Heh, that's alright, big fella" Nik replied, reaching up and vigorously petted Brad's fur, making him blush. "So, uh, will the band be alright without you, Brad?""Ah, right, they're playing a few different songs without bass, I just wanted to come over and say hello" Brad admitted, blushing. "Sorry to have interrupted here..."

Ah, yes... Alan should have been eating more of this right from the start. The ribs and vegetables were still quite warm, and the taste, the texture, the feeling of it all soothed his mind and body. The atmosphere was finally getting to him again. This was a good thing. The young man was happy to be learning more about his date. The smile on his face grew when Nik began to describe his experiences with high school literature club. He remained focused on the conversation, though every now and again he would entertain the little images Nik's stories would put in his mind. Nik sitting there in the literature club, in a place where he could participate in something that made him truly happy... cuddling up his partner and reading a book to him... Alan wouldn't have minded Nik reading to him in such a fashion... but he was getting ahead of himself. He liked hearing Nik talk was all. "Aw, that's sweet!" Alan remarked.
The young man, now completely relaxed, was glad that Brad was happy with his answer. "That's great to hear! Oh, and it's very nice to meet you, Brad! I'm Alan! My partner Levi isn't here at the moment, but I'd love for the both of you to meet him some time!"
Brad's blush in response to Nik's vigorous petting was so adorable that Alan blushed a bit, too. Mainly because it made him want to ask if he could pet Brad as well, but he was too shy for the moment. Next, Brad said he just wanted to come over to say hello. "Well, I'm glad you did," Alan responded, "so don't worry about 'interrupting!' I don't wanna keep you from your band for too long, though, 'specially since we'll get more chances to talk later. Great job on bass so far, by the way! You sound amazing! And the rest of the band does, too!"
Alan turned back to Nik. "I think it's really cool that you've fit in by finding something you love to do! I need to read more myself... Maybe you could recommend me some books some time? It's been a while since I've found something I've wanted to just... sit down with and read, y'know?"

Nik was delighted at the reception his story was getting. All the longer, he was growing more and more relaxed. When he finished his beer, he did not call for another one, instead settling on water. He didn't want to get too drunk and embarrass himself. "Ah, I'd be delighted to meet Levi too" Brad admitted, smiling. "What digimon is he?""He's a Veemon" Nik explained to his partner. Brad then made an interested sort of smile, even blushing a little. Nik could tell that Brad liked that idea, but was glad he didn't say anything to make it awkward. As Nik petted Brad, he noticed Alan blushed a little too. This prompted him to ask if he'd like to partake in this little thing as well. "Brad, would you be okay if Alan petted you?" he asked the Grizzmon. "Oh! Uh... yeah! I would..." Brad admitted.
Then Nik quickly turned to Alan. "Would you like to pet him?" he would ask. Consent was everything after all, and it seemed that one half was okay with it. If Alan would back off though, that'd be fine as well. Brad was especially happy if Alan wanted to pet him, particularly after praising his music. If Alan wanted to, he'd linger for a bit to be petted. Nik would then pick up on Alan's last point. The young Maori man smiled, sipping some more water and finishing the last of his ribs. "Well, I'd love to recommend you some books" he'd say, smiling. "What sort of genre are you into? Sci-fi? Fantasy? Mystery? Thriller? Crime? Romance?" he'd say the last one with a kind of seductive expression. If Alan had nothing more to say to Brad, the Grizzmon would return to the band podium, but if he did, he'd linger.
