Today was not a day for a digital world adventure like Kazuya initially thought it would, the golden eyed man had a somewhat distant acquaintance of his approach him and set him up on a date with a foreign girl called Juliet, at first the boy was reluctant but after a small conversation he agreed to meet her. The man then went back home and told Roy what will happen tomorrow, then Royland was happy and excited to hear about the date. And after chatting with Kazuya to see whether the man was ready for his date, the lion eventually feel asleep before Kazuya, the man then tucked him to bed. The next day the man made sure his schedule was clear, in order to prepare for his dinner date with Juliet.
"Oh so Kazuya you will be out all night right ? Then I will go and make a cake, if you are lucky I will leave you something back, oh and I should leave some for Juliet too, I bet she likes cakes everyone likes cake."
Kazuya who at this moment was getting dressed, choosing to wear a flashy yet formal and elegant set of clothes. A black formal jacket with a green handkerchief in his pocket square, a green long sleeved shirt underneath with all of its buttons buttoned up except the top button. As for his lower body Kazuya was wearing formal clean jet black pants with a simple belt. His shoes were nothing to talk about as well, just simple and clean black shoes.
"Woah hold your horses there Royland, its just a simple date aren't you rushing things, who knows I may not like her or anything, anyways whatever I will be taking the car, I will leave the motorcycle to you, you know how to ride it using your holosuit right ? If not you can just go order stuff to be delivered to the house, anyways I will have to leave now. See you later Roy." Kazuya said as he left his house and got in the car and rode towards the restaurant.
Once he got there the man got out of his car and gave his car keys to a valet driver, the entrance to the restaurant was grand with a golden title and red carpet once inside you would see a giant dim lit place with a light sweet atmosphere, the place was filled with people conducting a variety of things from other dates, business meetings and the like. When Kazuya Oda got in he saw around reception and did not see any girl that fits the description of Juliet, the long brown hair and blue eyes, the man decided to just wait for her at reception, the man then was approached by one of the workers, Kazuya simply explained his situation to him as he continued to wait.

Juliet was beyond nervous. A blind date? She hadn't expected to date anyone when she moved to Japan, and honestly found the whole idea still a bit scary. Sure, she was lonely living in her apartment alone with nothing more than an egg to keep her company. She still didn't even remotely understand when her Digimon partner was supposed to hatch, but she was getting a bit desperate. She had been covering him up in blankets, even a little heat lamp to keep him warm but to no avail. Loneliness slowly starting to overwhelm the poor foreign girl, she eventually said yes to the date. Hopefully, some good would come of it. She wasn't expecting much, maybe a good meal and a drink, but she was definitely going to try her best to make a good impression. Maybe... Getting into the dating game wouldn't be bad? Meet some foreign men, explore Japan and learn more about people's lives? She could easily see the appeal in getting out more.
But first, she had something to take care of first. She had to get dressed. Dressing up for a fancy date was certainly more challenge than it used to be, carefully, lifting herself up while sliding a dress down would take forever, but it was what she had to do. With an anxious look on her face, she began to carefully sort through her closet with a careful eye. She didn't bring many fancy dresses from home, even though she owned quite a lot still in storage all the way back in Scotland. Regardless, she eventually settled on a cute, sparkly dress that would hang down to her knees, hanging tightly to her skin. That would work perfectly, but what if she got cold? The nights were a bit chilly lately, so she grabbed a fashionable jacket and set them both down together. She would wear her heels, but it wasn't even like she could walk in them. Simply grabbing a pair of comfortable flats that looked pretty enough, she paired it with a pair of tights that would keep her legs mostly covered.
After spending an inordinate amount of time getting dressed, Juliet finally began to sort out her makeup. Being honest with herself, she enjoyed the opportunity to finally break out the makeup set Juliet had brought from home. Making her way into the bathroom, she immediately got to work on preparing her face. It was just another canvas to her, another place to show her artistic skill in a way that wouldn't be outright bragging about it. If she was going to dress up for any person, Juliet was going to go the full mile without fail. Another half hour had passed, and she was finally ready to head out the door.
Or at least, so she had naively thought. She had grabbed her purse off the kitchen counter, only to frown as she looked back in the living room and saw the massive egg just sitting there, a blanket carefully wrapped around it. Juliet's heartstrings were tugged almost immediately. With a sigh, the girl carefully loaded the egg into the backpack that permanently hung onto the back of her wheelchair. What if it hatched while she wasn't home? That would be infinitely worse than if it hatched while she was out, right? No matter what it was, her Digimon partner would be closer to her than any romantic partner would, right? Or at least, that was what she was telling herself.
She might be used to having her own personal chauffeur back home, but here in Japan, she was reduced to using public transit. It wasn't like she could drive in any case, or even take a taxi. Most of them weren't easily handicap accessible, even though she swore they'd just get more business if they were. Regardless, she took the subway towards the location of the date. It was a massively fancy restaurant, a place unlike any she had been in since she arrived. It was almost a bit scary, to go back to one of those places to see everyone so rich and proper. Living the bare minimum almost daily was a massive change and it would be an incredible delight to take some of life's little luxuries now and then.
Juliet didn't know much, but she knew just enough to understand how to find her blind date. A man named Kazuya, who presumably was from around here. Tall, black hair, and presumably a "golden" look to his eyes was pretty much all she had been informed. With a sigh, she rested her head on her hands as she watched the subway tunnels go by. It could either be an absolutely amazing night or a waste of time. In either case, she hoped the food was going to be good.
Eventually, she found her way back up to the main street and began to wheel herself gently towards the restaurant. This was a strange part of town to her, but yet it felt all too familiar at the same time. Fancy cars, pretty dresses and lovely tuxedos on most men and women she passed, it was almost like she was home for a bit if it wasn't for the massive language shift. With a growing smile, she finally wheeled herself to the location and was simply taken aback.
The building was massive. Juliet could hardly believe it as she stared at the building. Was this where her date was taking her? Just who was this man to afford such a place? Golden tile laid so eloquently with care, the red carpet decorated so wonderfully, and that wasn't even to mention the gorgeous lighting of the place. Almost immediately, Juliet felt a bit sad she left her camera at home. She would have loved to attempt to paint this place sometime... Maybe even offer to sell it back to the management if she was proud of it enough. Regardless, she knew she was going to be in for a treat.
Pulling further into the reception, she assumed that she had finally found her date. He was just as tall as she had assumed, and from her position off to the side, she could tell that he was indeed very handsome. Hopefully, his personality was as wonderful as the view. Blushing softly, she approached slowly, a bit nervous that her wheelchair might immediately put him off. Insecurities she didn't realize she had were suddenly bubbling to the surface, as if all the makeup in the world couldn't have made her compare.
"Umm, E-excuse me." She spoke in a very obvious foreign accent in Japanese, doing her best to pronounciate everything clearly. The language still gave her problems now and then but she was adjusting quite well. "Are you... Mr. Kazuya?" Juliet looked up at the man, eyes widening a little bit. "My name is Juliet. It's a pleasure meeting you." She would instinctively bow ever so slightly in her seat, holding her purse carefully over her shoulder, fidgeting nervously with the strap.

Kazuya Oda was standing his mind drifted off, swimming in the sea of his unconsciousness. He was not nervous nor anxious, you see he was no stranger to dating, granted he stopped for a while thanks to his involvement with the digital world but the fact still remains that the man found himself dating more often than he can remember the name of the girls he was with, honestly the man was not proud of this but that was who he is, but it warranted some examination. The man wondered why has he not settled as of yet, granted he is still young but he never even considered the concept of soul mate, why ? Is it something he is never ment to experience ? But whatever that it is, the man often found an empty void in his life, a companion of sorts, but due to his nature the man never believed in a long lasting relationship.
For Kazuya Oda there was two events that solidified to him the futility of romance and relationships, those was in order of importance were the sequence of days from where his father died and Kazuya breaking up with his first love Tsukiko and the more important one, is the incident with his mother. That incident was shrouded in mystery to the point of it being a secret to even Royland, and Roy became closer to Kazuya than the majority of people in his life. Regardless of what happened, that incident shaped Kazuya to be who he is for better or for worse. But somehow the infectious cheeriness of Royland but Kazuya began to feel more hopeful, so he is actually looking forward to meeting this Juliet, he wondered what kind of person she would be.
As he waited the man remembered something, there was one thing he was a bit self conscious about, the fact that his english has a heavy accent to it, and since his date had a very foreign sounding name, so she might be critical of his english. And just like that the man finally started to feel, oh gosh can you imagine him mispronouncing a word in english. Boy did the man hope Juliet was somewhat fluent in Japanese.
Going on and on, the man continued to think about the potential problem of the language barrier. But soon this whole thought process would stop, because it was too late to think about such hypotheticals because, after the longest wait for the man his date finally arrived. A brown haired beautiful girl, with captivating blue eyes. She was truly a beauty, but there is one thing that caught the man truly off guard, this Juliet was wheel chair bound. That fact made the man feel an intense mix of emotions, sorrow, empathy, sympathy and a sense of loss. For the myriad of experiences the man had, and the billion stories he had, this was a first for him. But the man somehow managed to not have all that to his face, and focus on the Juliet's introduction. The girl approached him and her very shy attitude made Kazuya become very relaxed in a round about way, the man then repayed her bow with a gentle one of his own. She was also speaking Japanese, this made things a bit easier for Kazuya.
"Yes I am, I am Kazuya Oda. Its a pleasure to meet you Ms Juliet, excuse my stare but my friend told me you would be a beautiful girl, but I had never imagine you would be this beautiful. "
Kazuya said in a calm and alluring way the man, exchanged a look with Juliet as his golden stare crossed with her sapphire blue eyes. The man was easily able to detect the girl's nervousness. In that brief second the man managed to look and examine the girl very briefly, her attire was both beautiful, seductive and elegant, with her Jacket and everything. And the girl also did not hold back on make up, the delicate features and impressive work on them made so that Kazuya was instantly captivated by Juliet, hopefully his simple formal clothing and natural good looks proves to be charming enough for the blue eyed beauty. The man then stood upright once more, and gave the brown haired girl a gentle delicate smile.
"Now then Miss Juliet should we go to our table, and you like me to help you with your chair. " Kazuya offered, the Japanese man was unsure if what he said was appropriate or not, but he could not help but ask. And regardless of the way they reached the reception table, the man then talked to the man behind the counter.
"Umm excuse me good sir but I made reservation here, should be under Kazuya Oda."
"Ah right Mister Oda, I have your very special reservation ready, please follow me."
After that the receptionist lead the two of them to their table, Kazuya and Juliet then will see the other customers all of them were dressed fancy and there was no child in sight. Seconds later the two would reach their table which was seated next to the window at the corner that would allow both intimacy and a great view. After getting accustomed to their seats, the receptionist then gave the two of them a bow.
"Excuse me our valued customers, a waiter will be with you shortly to take your order."
With that the man left the two of them alone, Kazuya would then rest his arms on the table and turn to Juliet, his eyes met hers once more. "So ms Juliet, if you dont mind me saying, you seem to not be from here, so my question is where are you from and what brought you to our great country?" The tall handsome man asked with a sly smile.

Juliet's face was extremely red as he finally spoke. Not only was this actually her date, but he had twisted it around to compliment her at the very same time. Nervously laughing, she waved her hand in front of her face as she looked aside. He spoke so calmly, so naturally, as if this was completely normal for him. She couldn't help but grow a bit flustered at the mere thought, adjusting her purse straps once more before trying to overcome her nerves and speak. "W-why uh, thank you. I've not uh, heard that a lot, honestly."
As he offered to help her with the chair, a part of her instantly snapped to attention. "No. I'm fine. But thank you." She said, in an almost terse voice. Juliet knew he meant well, perhaps even thought it would be the kind thing to offer to assist her, but she came all the way to Japan to be completely independent. Able to live entirely on her own, without needing anyone helping her. The last thing she wanted is for someone else to push her around. Last time that happened, it felt like the ground had slipped away from her, losing all control. She wasn't ready to give that up just yet so soon. Plus... What if he saw the egg in her backpack from behind her? How would she explain bringing that to her date?
She wheeled herself right behind him, slowly and carefully to not bump into anyone. She was lucky the building was quite fancy, with big open rooms and no crowded hallways or corners to turn. She didn't quite understand what he said while speaking to the receptionist, once again too distracted by the beautiful architecture. Regardless, she followed right along with the most curious of gazes. Was she really going to dine in such a pretty place? It seemed almost surreal. Her time trying to make a meager living in Japan didn't often allow for such often bouts of wealth-flaunting. Even the seat they arrived at was wonderful. Right in the corner by the window, giving her the perfect view of the entire room. It was absolutely majestic, and she couldn't stop staring at it even though her date was only just a foot or two away from her. After one of the staff carefully moved a chair aside for her, she wheeled in her chair right against the wall to be as comfortable as possible. Hopefully, she didn't receive too many stares from the other patrons. Already, Juliet felt like she could feel their stares burning into her. As if she wasn't supposed to be there, or people were just simply shocked to see a foreign girl of all things wheelchair-bound in their fancy establishment.
After the man spoke and said a waiter would be with them shortly, Juliet let out a soft sigh as she finally turned to look at her handsome date. He asked her a question, one she had been actively preparing herself to answer all night long. Clearing her throat quietly, she spoke with as much pronunciation to her Japanese words as she could muster. "I grew up in Scotland, Home of the Brave and all that." She laughed softly to herself, shifting a bit as she carefully set her purse down upon the table to dig out her phone. If she was going to brag about her artwork, she better have pictures ready.
"I'm an artist, actually. I moved to Japan for a chance to be independent and make a name for myself. Back home, I was just another of my father's kids, living in the mansion with nowhere else to go. Here, I can go wherever I want without anyone nagging me. You know?" She laughed once again, actually enjoying the chance to talk about her actual life with someone. "It's a bit difficult, given my... My uh... Well, you know what I mean without even saying it, huh? But it's worth it." A nervous blush spread across her face, almost worried to actively admit she was disabled to her date. Hell, she struggled to admit it to herself most of the time.
Her eyes widening slowly, a glimmer of faint hope in her eyes as she rested a hand on her purse carefully. "Would you uh, like to see a few of my paintings?"

Kazuya Oda was a bit worried, he was unsure if his words were hurtful, or not tasteful but he also knew that worrying about it will only mess up him for the whole date. So the man shooed those ideas away and continued to focus on the date, but after that the man nodded at the girl as the two of them eventually reached their tables and sat at it, and let the conversation begin. And after asking the first question, Kazuya sat and listen to Juliet. And when he learned where she was from the man was interested in that, Kazuya Oda never heard of Scotland before, so his rapid curiously grew by the second as the girl chuckled. The girl then began to place her purse on the table, and looked like he wanted to get something out of the purse.
When the man listened to Juliet's story he was a bit conflicted, because he understood her reasons to leave and the desire to be free but at the same time he felt like being raised in a mansion sounds like heaven compared to the hell he is been through as a kid, but he was not here to judge people's personal life struggles but more to enjoy a fun night with his date. And besides the girl said something waaay more interesting to him as a classy individual, the fact that the girl is an artist. "Oh an artist you say ? Lady Juliet you are not just a beautiful woman are you ? You are more interesting than the average woman." The man said letting out a sly smile.
The girl then began to explain to Kazuya that its been difficult due to her condition, which honestly made the man fall to silence once more, unable to relate to completely with Juliet but at the same time feel a sense of pity towards her. But it was at that instance that Kazuya pushed away all doubts and sense of pity to focus on one thing and that is to treat Juliet as the beautiful woman she is, no more no less. "I see I bet it is, but you seem like a strong independent woman. Your resolve to better yourself is truly admirable, honestly makes me rethink what I should do." Those words right there were sincere, he was not being charming or seductive at that moment, he was being. . .Kazuya and he was a bit at awe with how radiant Juliet was not just how physically attractive she is but at how bright her spirit was, it was truly mesmerizing.
But then the girl spoke once more stopping the man from getting lost in her beauty the man then smiled at her generous offer, he was going to ask if he can see some of them anyway so it was a good thing she made the offer herself, so with a gentle nod and smile towards the girl Kazuya confirmed his dying interest to see her paintings. "Yes please that would prove to be a delight, I may not look like it but I am a patron of the arts. Pablo Picasso, Vincent van Gogh, Michelangelo, Hiroshige you name it, I am a fan of all those people. But enough about me now let me see what you have, if its half as pretty as you then I will be in for a ride." The man said with a playful smile, he looked at Juliet leaning forward across the table waiting for her to show him those paintings.

Juliet couldn't help but get flustered as he complimented her once more. Beautiful? Interesting? She didn't know whether he was just trying to get on her good side, but it was working regardless. She hadn't heard such sort of compliments very often, especially at home where her family more often took the spotlight compared to herself. It was just kind of hard to stick out when you're at a massive ballroom with like, professional models and the such. It wasn't like she could go out and dance on the dancefloor easily either.
However, once he mentioned her independence Juliet simply flushed even brighter red. Someone... actually acknowledged how hard she was working to live by herself. She barely even acknowledged the rest of his words as he spoke about various artists, trying really hard to remain calm and focus. It wouldn't do any good to get so flustered on the very first date, right? Every other date she had been on were when she was just a rebellious teen looking for a quick fling. As an adult, it really meant a whole lot more to be respected.
Trying to calm herself down, Juliet reached into her purse in an attempt to retrieve her phone. As fate would have it, Juliet actually knocked over her purse instead, spilling the contents onto the table. Her phone, some tissues, wallet, as well as a ton of other small receipts and various little items, as well as a soft purple Digivice that clunked right onto the table in plain view. Her eyes widened immediately, carefully tucking away all the rubbish and wallet back into view. Grabbing her phone, Juliet just slowly tucked the Digivice back into the purse, hoping he didn't ask any questions. There was no way she was going to be able to explain she was destined to be linked to this massive egg.
"Whoops. Uh, sorry about that. H-here." She spoke stuttering softly from her nerves, slowly selecting the gallery of paintings she kept neatly ordered on her phone. Slowly sliding her phone across the table, he would easily be able to scroll through the pictures with relative ease. The first painting was her newest one, a location at a local beach at sunset, showing the sunlight slowly fade into the sky and the water below in a very delicate touch of her brush with impeccable detail and quality. Each picture was something else new and different, from painting dozens of various shots of nature, to even some more abstract style art. However, should he reach the very end of the fifty-some pictures in the gallery he could notice the quality slowly going down, back to her first pictures. All the way back to her first painting ever, a grove of apple trees right next to a river, with a little rundown shack made out of twigs and leaves in the woods.
"I uh..." Juliet shifts nervously in her seat, rubbing her arm slowly as she pulled her purse back down. "It's not like, museum quality or anything. But I'd love nothing more than to just paint for a living, a dream come true and all that." She finally pauses, letting out a soft sigh. Enough about her, it was time to be a good date and ask some questions in return. "So... What do you do for a living, Kazuya?"

The tall handsome found a jubilant smile cross his face when Juliet kept on getting flustered by his flirtatious words, the man himself did not know what words he said were genuine praise and what were just words he said in order to be as charming as he usually is. But what he knew was a hundred percent real is the fact that he found Juliet to be actually very adorable. But it was at that exact moment that Kazuya Oda pondered on a question he never thought about before this, but he should have and that was how old is his date, because he knew his friend won't set him up with a very young girl but Juliet did look younger than him, but whatever he will focus on enjoying the date.
But what was interesting to the man is that Juliet blushed the hardest when Kazuya was being truly genuinely impressed by her and said what can be argued to be his most sincere words in the whole date so far, it made the man do wonder, most of his dates Kazuya found himself just appealing to the shallow side of the ladies he is with, almost all of them were shallow and interested in being ogled by him like they were goddess of beauty they think they are, but with Juliet was a bit different the girl seemed innocent and genuine, and to Kazuya that might be her most attractive trait.
What Kazuya Oda did not expect was that at this point Juliet will be so tense and nervous to the point of spilling everything inside her purse on the table, the man impulse was to help her collect the things, but at the same time he didn't do that because he did not want to in order to not accidentally invade her privacy. And at that moment he saw something that caught his interest, the girl had a digivice. That man was very confused as he had a bit of a conflicted feelings, on one hand the man was happy that this will mean he won't need to lie about Roy if his relationships with Juliet develop past one day, but on the other hand the man really wanted to have one day not affected by the digital world, but that seems harder by the day, and the man just has to get used to the fact that the digital world will always be part of his life. But after that Juliet managed to get her phone and slide it towards Kazuya. "Oh no no, its fine is everything alright Juliet ?" Kazuya Oda asked worried about Juliet cause she seemed very nervous.
Kazuya then began to explore her gallery and frankly get impressed with each one, while the first one the painting was absolutely great and even though the quality slowly declined with each passing painting Oda was still impressed and after spending a while examining all of the pictures. The golden eyed man was fan of art, so to him this was an incredible quality to Juliet that only makes her more alluring to the man.
"nonsense my fair lady, I must say these are absolutely beautiful. I am even willing to pay for a painting from you to hang on my wall, it'd make any room I hang it in to be more exciting and perfect." Kazuya said as he slid her phone back to her, giving the girl a subtle wink, the man saw great potential in Juliet as an artist so he wanted to be an early patron and perhaps help her gain some confidence in herself.
"Oh me ? Well its not something great or exciting." Kazuya said with a soft chuckle as he did not really want to talk about himself and brag so he will appear humble. "I am a car salesman, a very successful one at that. My dad was poor and he could not support me as much as he wanted to, so I wanted to get a job that will make me able to support myself. And I guess I got good at it." The man said as he wanted to appear humble, but it was hard for him when he remembered the jump from nothing to what he is today in term or wealth and status.

She couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief as Kazuya said nothing about her Digivice. Honestly, she still knew next to nothing about it, but she knew that it was a pretty big deal. Not having to explain any of that, especially on the first date was a relief and a half. Regardless of any of that, Juliet was sitting still, eyes wide as she watched him look over her art. Hopefully, he didn't just dismiss it right away. Her paintings were a big deal to her, and she hoped that perhaps he might like them too.
Juliet was not expecting his reaction at all. She was hoping that he would like them, but never in all of her life would she have dared to imagine that her date of all people would be willing to purchase a painting from her. It would be the first painting she would have sold in Japan at all, struggling to find buyers was one of the hardest challenges she had come to face while living here. And yet, that wink of his made her blush even more. She was effectively speechless, unable to resist staring at him. Just who was this man?
A car salesman made sense. It was a simple enough job in concept, but easily one that she could understand why he was able to afford such a wonderful place for a meal. Cars were expensive and even she didn't own one. Although, being fair on herself she couldn't drive it herself even if she owned a car. Juliet smiled, nodding in response. It was a good job, respectable even. He wanted to support himself because his father struggled, it was a heart-warming story if she was being honest with herself.
Finally finding the motivation to speak, she unconsciously brushed her hair back behind her ears as she spoke up. "R-really? You like them that much?" Juliet laughed nervously, entirely unsure how to respond. She didn't even know how much to price each painting, that alone was going to take hours of deliberation on trying to figure out just how much time and effort was put into each one. "I... I can even paint you an entirely new painting if you want, of anything you like."
Once again brushing her hair back, she carefully tucked her phone back into her purse and set it back down beside her on her chair. Hopefully, the waiter would be coming back soon. As much as she was absolutely enjoying his presence, she couldn't deny one extremely obvious fact. She was getting hungry. Perhaps after a good meal, Juliet would even be able to focus a little more and stop being so easily flustered.

The handsome man with the golden stare felt something he hadn't felt in a while regarding dates, some joy seeing Juliet blushing and getting flusterred with his words. The Scottish beauty with saphire eyes was not the first girl to be weak to his flowery talk and flirtatious winks but she was the first to bring a genuine gentle smile on his face, as he watched the girl try to gather her thoughts and not decent into an absolute mess, which was a cute view the man enjoyed looking at. Kazuya at that moment realized how great it was that he went on this little blind date, because at the very least Juliet was an interesting lady on top of being a very beautiful gal.
The man then reflected upon himself as he thought more about why he chose his career, it was not a grandiose thing, he was not chasing a dream nor he wanted to make other people's life better, or was he even supporting anyone else, he just wanted money to live the life he dreamt of when he was but a young boy. And now after years and years of struggling to even pass on minimal life conditions, Kazuya finally managed to attain the wealth he wanted to have, only to find himself alone and having no one to share that wealth with, well that was the case till Royland became a part of his life and changed everything. But the man shook his head and took all those thoughts off his head and decided to focus on his gorgeous little date.
The girl was in disbelief when Kazuya Oda showed interest in her paintings, the man understood why someone would be in disbelief, especially if Kazuya turned out to be her first supporter here in Japan. The thought of being on the ground floor and supporting a potential rising artist sounds lovely, so the man won't miss no matter what. With a quite chuckle the man nodded at Juliet, a dazzling smile on his face he wanted to reassure the girl. "Why but of course, they are quite lovely, you are amazing at this." The man said before being delighted by her generous offer to draw something new for him. "Nothing will make me happier than that lady Juliet." Accepting her offer the man noticed something off the corner of his eyes, the waiter finally showed up, dressed in a formal and simple suit, he was normal and did not stand out.
"Hello valued customers, my name is Sakamoto, I will be your waiter and will serve you today, allow me to hand you the menus and choose your appetizer."
The waiter then handed Juliet and then Kazuya and on the menu the list of appetizers were, Salmon Rillettes, Moroccan-Spiced Carrot Hummus, Baked Brie with Cranberry Sauce, Vegan White Bean Artichoke Dip, A Trio of Cheese Balls, Whipped Feta Dip, Roasted Red Pepper Tapenade, Cheddar Olives and more fancy sounding appetizers, the list was expansive truly reflective of the quality the restaurant.
Kazuya turned towards Sakamoto and gave him a gentle smile. "I will have a cheddar olives please and thank you." The man said as he handed the menu to Sakamoto.
The waiter then turned towards Juliet, he waited for her response. "What about you Madam, what would you want."

Juliet simply found herself growing more flustered as time passed, face a lovely shade of pink as she shifted where she sat. All this praise was admittedly making her quite embarrassed. It felt like everything was just going too perfectly, and she didn't quite realize why that was confusing her slightly. She chopped it up to her inexperience with dating. As far as she knew, most people always tried to butter up their date on the first date. It made sense but she had to remind herself to be cautious. Going in overboard so quickly would only be a recipe for disaster. Letting out a deep breath, she tried to calm herself down as the waiter finally showed up.
She quickly looked over the list of appetizers, her eyes scanning over the many letters in Japanese with admittedly a bit of trouble from the rather eloquent writing. However, she figured it out not too much later after she was asked what to order. "I'll have the uh, trio of cheese balls please." She smiled softly, handing the appetizer menu back to the waiter. "Oh, and um, some water would be nice too."
The waiter nodded as he took back their menu's before handing them both the main course menus and heading back into the kitchen to allow them plenty of time to review what they'd want to eat. Juliet was admittedly starving, and almost immediately began to look inside the new menu placed before her. Everything looked so fancy... Various things like caviar immediately stuck out to her and she couldn't help but let out a soft sigh. It had been ages since she lived this kind of lifestyle and she had to admit that a part of her really missed it. The other half of her, however, almost wished for just something simple and filling. Perhaps her tastes had changed a bit since moving overseas, at least a little bit.
Looking over at her date, Juliet lowered her menu and took the time to ask a personal question. Pleasantries aside, if a date was ever going to go anywhere she wanted to know what kind of person he was behind that handsome face. "So, Kazuya tell me about yourself. What do you uh... What do you like doing in your spare time? Anything interesting?"

Kazuya Oda enjoyed his date with Juliet so far, the fact that the girl face was in a permanent state of blushing was completely adorable to Kazuya but at the same it wasn't something new. From a very young age the golden eyed man picked up the skill to have his way with words and pamper the people around him when he needed to and flirting with women came to Kazuya as second nature to him, but this time he found himself in a weird spot. Some of the words of praise he showered Juliet with were genuine and some were just him being charming and trying to gain her favour. But the man knew that thinking about it would be not the best idea, he will just let the date flow as naturally as it should.
When Juliet finally made her decision and picked her first course meal, the man smiled at her then turned towards his waiter. "I will have some water too, please and thank you." Kazuya said before he took the main course menu from the waiter, as he watched the man leave the table. Looking over the menu Kazuya realized one thing, he was really hungry. And the sooner the meal came, the better. But after mulling over the list and picking his favourite out of the list, he looked up from his menu to stare into Juliet eyes once more. The girl finally took charge and began to take the wheel in the conversation, her question was interested, not a lot of women seem to be interested in Kazuya beyond his looks and wealth, so amused with Juliet the tall handsome man decided to answer her honestly despite possible shock his answer may bring.
"Ah well, I am a fan of a lot of art mediums, while painting is something I enjoy deeply, the type of art that is so close to my heart is the written one. From a very young age I think when I was eleven years old I used to rush to the library and just read countless amount of books, from Japanese authors to even more international authors. The ability to forge full humans, giving them believable personalities, likes, dislikes, goals, dreams, fears. Make them real, in turn making the reader feel all type of emotion, sympathy, empathy even hatred towards people who are in the end are nothing but mere letters and words on a piece of paper is fascinating to me. So much so that, I would like to one day to try my luck and write one of my own." Kazuya Oda then chuckled, the man never actually say that desire to another person, not even Roy knows about that. Perhaps Juliet caught him off guard, perhaps its seeing the girl chase her dreams that lit a spark in him, who knows, the one thing the man was sure of was that saying that made him feel a bit lighter.
"But enough about me, how about you ms Juliet. Do you have any interest in books, if so do you have any favourite ?" Kazuya then quickly shifted the conversation, back to Juliet to learn more about what type of woman she is, Oda believed that the favourite book can tell you a lot about a person, so he was interested in her answer.

Juliet nodded as he spoke about his interests. Reading was a respectable hobby. The ability to form a picture with nothing more than words on a sheet of paper was equally as impressive to her as the ability to draw something. It was simply magic in her eyes. Unfortunately, she didn't really know any Japanese authors. Every book she had read were from back home. To be even more honest, most of them were young adult fiction novels from growing up. The required reading from school was always interesting but none of them really held her attention like the ones that could wrap her up so easily in a narrative. Writing a book of his own was a very admirable thing she could respect.
However, when she asked what her favorite book was, she froze softly. Immediately her first answer would have been The Giving Tree, a book so ingrained into her childhood she loved reading it every single time. The message was extremely strong, even to a little girl like she used to be. The tree kept giving and giving until it had nothing left, but she still cared for the boy no matter what happened. Juliet, however, was worried to admit such a thing. Saying her favorite book was a children's book to someone who aspired to be an author probably wasn't a good start to their date. Instead, she quickly decided to try and come up with something else. Perhaps one of the required reading books for her education might be a good substitute.
"I... uh, I really enjoyed The Scarlet Letter by uh, Nathaniel Hawthorne." It was a good book, but ultimately not her favorite. Still, the moral of that story also was quite strong. Hester was a flawed, yet believable protagonist who struggled with her mistakes and attempted to overcome them. It was a believable truth, partly because she did actually enjoy the book quite a lot. "It uh, kind of went over my head as a kid, but I grew to like it more and more as I grew older."
She paused for a moment, struggling to come up with a way to continue the conversation. It had been so long since she had actually gone out with anyone, almost over a year since she even attempted to go out on a date with someone back home in Scotland. Eventually, Juliet began to speak again. "I uh, don't know many Japanese authors. The language is still rather new to me. Reading it is, admittedly, quite difficult. I still mix up my Hiragana and Katakana." She blushed softly as she admitted it, switching back to English for a brief second to speak. "I'm still much more comfortable speaking English, but luckily Japan has a fascination with English."
She laughed softly before switching back to Japanese, entirely unsure if Kazuya could even have understood her. Many people in Japan did speak English as a second language, either due to business, media or simply personal interests. Regardless, it wasn't too difficult for her to live a simple life here. "Do you uh, speak any foreign languages, Kazuya? I mean, to me I'm speaking a foreign language right now. But I'm kind of living in Japan, so I suppose it doesn't really count, does it?" Juliet laughed nervously, immediately continuing the conversation as she idly twisted her hair with one of her fingers.
"I mean, when you really think about it, English is probably the more foreign language around here. Considering I'm the foreigner who came to Japan, I'm not exactly sure I get a say in the matter." She was simply just rambling on at this point, unsure where to stop and when to let him speak. Social interactions were certainly not her forte. "It's just kind of, you know. A thing. I know English is all over Japan, but I didn't... Uh, want to assume that you could just. Speak it. Because that would be wrong, you know? "I don't even think I know any classic Japanese literature at all, honestly. Before I moved here, books from Asia were in kind of low demand. I mean, sure I had easy access to German, French or even Italian books with those countries being so close. But I uh... Kind of shifted cultures entirely." She finally let her hair go, nervously tapping her fingers on the table as she glanced aside to see a waiter bringing over their drinks for them. Water clearly didn't take long to prepare. Thank goodness, otherwise, she was just going to keep rambling until someone else stopped her.
"Oh. I uh, think that lady is bringing our drinks." Perfect transition.

At that moment Kazuya Oda was having a little bit of fun with the date, but it was not due to the lovely atmosphere or the amazing restaurant it was simply due to the fact that he can finally enjoy a normal conversation with a beautiful and wonderful woman, the man’s life was hectic and crazy so to take a back seat and relax is a great thing he did not want to ruin and hey on top of all that he gets to stare at the beautiful face of his lovely Juliet so it’s a win-win. But what was really interesting to Kazuya was what Juliet will say regarding reading books, the man was not particular or strict about a lot of things but reading was a strange hobby that almost felt like his own personal safe space, never discussing it with a lot of people before, so doing this made him a little anxious really wanting to be impressed by her choices, so he leaned a little bit forward waiting with baited breath at her answer. And he was not disappointed, not in the slightest. The scarlet letter while not even close to being in his top 5 perhaps not even in top 10, but he really enjoyed that book it was perhaps an interesting read, the theme of guilt hit a little bit close to home for the handsome golden eyed man, but there are other books he enjoyed more. “Ah the scarlet letter, a truly interesting and lovely book. I am impressed you have such a good taste in books my fair lady, but I should not be surprised so far you have only been impressing me Juliet, you are truly a spectacular woman.” The man said as he gave the young lady a slight smile, loosening his body a bit his body language was a bit subtle, but if you read into it you will find signs of attraction, some of them was sub conscious some were not.
It was after her words did Juliet pause for a moment, it took her a second to gather her strength and Kazuya wanted to help her by telling her to relax but he decided to let her handle it herself for the time being. If it gets any worse the man will help, but they are probably some reasons why Juliet was struggling so hard, perhaps Kazuya is her first Japanese date and he knew how intense and intimidating he and his persona can be. But soon after Juliet pulled through and managed to push the conversation forward, her reason for not being familiar with Japanese authors was very valid, and at first Kazuya himself was unfamiliar with English books due to the language barrier, so he can understand Juliet’s position. “yes that is very understandable, transitioning from one language to another totally different language is really difficult, so I understand. But there are some I will love to recommend and even loan you some of my books if you are interested.” Kazuya said his gentle sly smile did not leave his face till now, but for a second he was caught of guard by Juliet going English for a second, but he quickly joined her chuckle. “Well you are indeed lucky that us Japanese are fairly enraptured with the English language, and that I learned English at college, I think I am pretty decent at it, don’t you think ?” transition into English Kazuya said as he gave the blue eyed girl a flirtatious wink, it was at this moment that Kazuya knew he wanted to pursue something with Juliet, perhaps a casual thing for fun. But why think about that now, just enjoy the date. He then softly chuckled at her question, it was not so long ago that his passion with language and the like was ignited, so the coincidence was too good to not chuckle about it.
“Actually aside from learning English in college I was not that interested in raising my collection of language from English and Japanese but recently, I found a lot of alone time so I decided to add perhaps 2 more to my collection. The two language that attract me the most are French and Dutch as of now I now a little bit of both, not enough to talk in those languages yet but hopefully one day I can. How about you aside from English and Japanese do you plan to add any other language to your lexicon ?” the man continued to speak in English, it served two purposes firstly it may help Juliet to relax and second he can improve his English, the man knew how to speak but he had a bit of an accent it was so slight, but he wanted to take it away. The man nodded at Juliet’s statement, it was true that English is a bit of a foreign language right now but, what the hell if the two parties are comfortable with English why not speak it. “ that is true that English is foreign but I gotta say that you are indeed really considerate, your Japanese is great so you are fine. You’d be surprise at the number of the non Japanese citizens that do not try to understand our language let even speak it, so you are the model citizen if I do say so myself.” Speaking English was slowly becoming something fun for the man, heck if Juliet does not mind, he will continue with it. “that is a fair way of thinking, while we love English not all of us speak it, some of us just appreciate it from a distance, kinda like those young western people who love Japanese animation and speak only in catchphrases and assume they know all about Japanese culture. I however decided to learn English, because hey its useful for business, but I guess its also fun as well.” The man chuckled, quite enjoying himself.
After that was said and done the lady responsible for bringing the water was walking towards the table and as soon as she arrived, she handed the water to Juliet first placing it right in front of her and then towards Kazuya, and with a courteous bow she informed the two that there food will arrive very shortly, she then turned and walked away back to the kitchen. “So Juliet, if you do not mind me asking, how is Japan so far ? is it anything like you thought it would be or is it just not as good. Because I love to hear what non Japanese people have to say about it, because the idea of living in another country aside from Japan is frankly quite bizarre to me, so asking others who left their own countries is the only way I can get some perspective.” The man asked, as he took his glass of water and took a medium sip from it.

It was at this point, Juliet was starting to feel a bit unsure about the whole date itself. It was going well, and he definitely seemed like a lovely man, but the constant compliments were slowly starting to lose their effect. It was almost as if him saying she was spectacular didn't really have any weight. Hearing nothing but constant praise, she was starting to feel a bit uneasy. She honestly didn't quite know why, but she wasn't blushing nearly as much or growing as flustered as before. Going from rambling and flustered to just kind of giving a polite smile and nodding.
It was an odd transition, to where Juliet didn't even quite understand. She was admittedly surprised that he spoke English so easily, though considering his wealth she assumed it only made sense. Kazuya was dedicated to bettering himself, compared to his father who couldn't really provide for them. Still, in spite of the odd slump, she suddenly felt his wink did cause her cheeks to become bright pink once more and look away flustered. Such blatant flirting. He really wasn't holding anything back, was he? Did he really like her that much already? They barely even knew each other asides from the basics. He seemed like a kind gentleman, perhaps too kind even.
"Yeah. You seem to have English down pretty well, actually. Your accent isn't even that bad" She replied, speaking directly in English as she continued to listen to him speak. He was even trying to learn French and Dutch? A remarkable feat to learn another language, let alone two more. Juliet did admittedly feel a bit more at ease speaking in her primary language, relaxing a bit where she sat. Maybe this odd slump she was feeling herself in would just pass. Kazuya was a good guy, but there was no reason to act weird about it, right? No need to get too flustered or too awkward like before. Or at least, that is what she told herself. "I uh, don't actually see a reason to learn yet another language. I'm not going to beat around the bush, I struggled really hard to learn Japanese. I only know bits of other languages, like how to say hello and goodbye in Spanish and stuff like that."
What he had to say about foreigners refusing to learn the language was very true. Japanese culture was very true. Anime alone was a huge market for people all over the globe. Juliet even grew up watching a few animes now and then, but usually nothing too excitable. Mostly slice of life series or comedic shows. Heavy action movies and the like never really appealed to her in the same sense others might. She could appreciate the art and the dedication behind it, but it just wasn't her taste. Regardless, she could easily see why some people might even just fetishize the entire culture, living here as some sort of foreign paradise even though everyone living here was just another normal person.
Regardless of her wandering mind, she grabbed her drink of water and took a long sip. As he spoke, she took another sip before setting her glass down. "Well, for one, Japan is very different than home. Not bad, but it's just different. Everything from business practices to simple entertainment has a very different expectation from it. It's like, everything is made very differently. People just kind of respond differently. Like, god, don't even get me started on bowing compared to shaking hands as a greeting. People bow for like, almost everything here." She paused, comfortably folding her fingers together on the table.
"Living back in the United Kingdom was strange. I didn't live in the city as I do now here. I uh... grew up near the woods." Juliet immediately got a soft look on her face as she seemed to stare off into the distance a bit. "My family's mansion was just around the river from this beautiful forest... I used to always sneak out to go and play in the woods by myself. My mother and the maids were always furious when I tracked dirt and mud all over the place, though." She couldn't resist the urge to giggle, smiling softly as she did so.
"Scotland felt like home, and it still does... But I moved here." She paused, finally turning to look back at Kazuya. "I got my own place to live on my own. I support myself well enough, working as a freelance artist. I've made a few character concept arts and logos and various art for companies and such. I could have done that anywhere, I imagine. I just..." She shrugged, feigning ignorance. "I don't know why, but I just uh... Felt like coming here."
That was almost an entire lie, unfortunately. Juliet knew exactly why she moved to Japan of all places. It was the furthest place away from home that she could physically imagine, and still, make a living to support herself completely independently. She didn't have to live with anyone, get funds from anyone else, or even rely on anyone else to even do basic household chores for her. Sure, picking objects off the ground was hard and so was bathing herself, but it was worth the struggle. Back home, everyone was always so worried about her. Offering to do almost everything for her, refusing to even let her take care of the most simplistic things like cook for herself when she felt hungry. There was only so much babying she could take before Juliet snapped and wanted to move as far away as possible.
Letting out a soft sigh, she looked at her date as she spoke. "Well uh, if you ever plan to go abroad, you can probably say hello to my family just outside of Glasgow in Scotland. Their uh, mansion is kind of impossible to miss, really. Though honestly, if you were to go anywhere at all, I'd recommend New York City in America. It's perhaps the only major city in the world that is completely unlike any other I've ever seen. It really does never sleep." Juliet knew full well she probably could have moved there instead, and it might even have been easier... But then she'd have no excuses to keep her family away. It was still too close for her own comfort. 1061 Words 5182 Words Total
