"Field work, huh..." Well, at least that meant they were alive and well. Something that couldn't be said of a good deal of people that the brunette had met on her travels. "They've always been a bit too quick to go onto their next venture; relaxing for one would be nice, in my opinion! A thing or two that they could learn from you, Reid."
One hundred percent hypocritical, considering that Amelie herself remained constantly busy with her own pet project. Guess that, even on that, the three girls had a bit in common.
Thinking about it was mostly pointless, however. Maybe she should seek either of the friends out at some point, and ask them how they should see each other? A valid course of action, even if not something that should take the spotlight. For a second, Amy gazed at Nereid; her request had been so simple, yet so earnest that the girl couldn't avoid to extend her two arms and hug the digimon's squishy, soft form.
"I would love to, Reid." The brunette's gesture was full of warmth. It was only logical, considering the earnest feelings exposed. "Thank you for offering me your friendship. I'll do my best to not disappoint."

"Aww, I didn't know I was considered wise enough to learn stuff from yet! Thank you." The Syakomon seemed contented at this. Yes, perhaps she truly was wise. "Maybe next time I should go on the venture! And find the cool stuff!" That'd actually be something the clam considered fun!
Though, she didn't know the first thing about science...One did have to start somewhere, after all. Such thoughts were dashed aside as Amy gave the shell-based lifeform a hug earnest enough that Nereid could tell that she had done something good today. "Are you kidding? I doubt you could disappoint, you're my first friend, after all! So therefore, I must hold subsequent friends to similar standards. ...Should I be doing that? Does that work for ships too? C'mon, tell me!"

Who knew. Maybe Reid was a truly wise being, hidden under the literal clam that contained her squishy being. Was that a possibility, even when considering her... parents? It was a very interesting proposition!
"Damn right. I mean, it's literally the day before Valentine's! A girl shouldn't be doing field or work that stuff on this day; they should be preparing the chocolates or setting up dates, right? I doubt that field work is gonna break any hearts."
She let out an innocent giggle at her own remarks. It was true that getting out of the Library's comfort and having an adventure was a step in the right direction, even if at the same time it was something that shouldn't be rushed.
Or maybe it should? To say that Amelie was a responsible influence was tenuous at best. In any case, she was glad she could hit off with Nereid as fast as she did! Maybe the two were more like than what it seemed on the surface. All things considered, she was happy to have a new friend!
The question posed was an interesting one, though. "I mean... you should be the one to determine that. If you used me as a standard of what a good friend is, I'd feel honored, but I guess that's not the only way? I feel like I'm digressing..."
In any case, the day was still young, and there was plenty of things to do! "So! I guess that my task over here is finished, and I don't really have anything to do with my day anymore. Do you feel like doing anything in particular, Reid?"

"So do we call today Valentines Eve? That'd be a nice thing to do." The Syakomon mused. "I can see what you mean, though. You should be relaxing when there's love in the holidays...But maybe they lack such things? I am unsure. Oh. Um. That might be rude, I'm sorry if it is."
Nereid couldn't tell if it was or not. Regarding the question in the air, though... "If it isn't the only way, then I shall find the other ways and determine if they are suitable too! Do I feel like doing anything in particular? Well, I wanna hang out with my friend! But if she has nothing to do here anymore, then...Why don't you take me someplace cool? I wish to go outside here. ...But I need to leave a note for my moms first so they don't get worried."

Amelie seemed to be thoughtful for a second, even if she ultimately nodded. "I guess? It has no name as far as I know, but if you called it 'Valentine's Eve', that wouldn't be mistaken." She took a second, a small smirk gracing her features at Nereid's comment. "Lack in love, you mean? That's a bit... of an interesting statement, honestly!"
After trying, in vain, to contain her laughter at the remark, the brunette tried to rein herself. "Well, that depends. Most people feel a bit bad when reminded they don't have a significant other just yet. In my opinion? They should relax regarding that matter. Getting worked up about it isn't going to make it any less true, you know? Still, try to not say those things around single people. They might get angry."
Doing anything in particular. That was a good question, even if Amy was positive on just enjoying her free day, so the Dark Area was out of the question. "I'm unsure. We can go meet any of the nice areas this world has, even go to the Human World if you feel like it! We'd need to buy you a holosuit first, but it'd be nice to get there and explore a bit, don't you think?"
Was the note that much of an issue, anyway? After giving the Syakomon a final gaze... she understood. "Oh."
The fact was that she had... no arms whatsoever. Without arms, there were no hands. And with no hands, the ability to write was an impossibility. "I can write the note for your parents if you want. No problem."
There was one last question regarding this plan. Would she agree?

"Well, maybe there should be a name so people learn to herald the coming of Valentines!" Nereid was starting to hop in her pillow a bit. "And yeah! I don't think they have any ships! But if they do...They don't show up enough! I dunno, I need to conduct research on this!"
The clam took a pause to listen to Amy's explanation, though. "Oooh...Okay. I'll try not to, I promise." The clam wanted to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, but she had to be careful. "Human world? I know about that. I've been meaning to go get a holosuit, but...This pillow's too comfy. Can we go get one? And go explore it?"
Nereid didn't have arms, yes. But she could write. It was just really difficult for her to. "Mmhmm! It's just a simple note, just tell them I went with my first friend to the Human World and I'd be back soon!"
Was that agreement enough for the Frenchwoman?

For the first time in a bit, Amy had found herself thonking after Nereid's words. "Maybe. But I'm sure that most people that are interested in celebrating it are aware that it's coming, so... I'm unsure? It may be a good idea, or it may be not. What do I know?"
Researching was a good thing, in any case. The prospect of traveling to the human world with a friend? That was excellent; Amelie couldn't ask for a better outcome, even if she tried! "Yup, we totally can! I already have a good idea of something that would look really cute on you!"
Pillows being comfy, while a perfectly sensible argument, wouldn't stop them now. They were ready, and they'd have an adventure. The note? That was no problem as well. "I have some pen and paper with me, let me scribble something; if you have any stuff you wanna pack before we get going, now's the time! I'll be waiting for you over here."
To Mizu, Titania, and anyone who might care about Nereid.
I have kidnapped her from the library. The ransom's 1000000 bits, to be delivered at the following address...
Nah, I'm joking. I'll just borrow her because she wants to visit the Human World and you're all busy with your stuff. Happy Valentine's Eve!
