Toki took a deep breath and returned to his human form. Sore, and a little winded from the sparring, he sat down and laughed "Ah, nothing like a good spar to hone your skills." he said. He looked over to Kyo and listened to what he had to say "I feel the same way when I spirit evolve. By instinct I just...know how a particular form is supposed to fight or what it's most comfortable doing. I understand what you mean."
He pondered what Kyo had relayed to him "Well at the very least you two seem to be on speaking terms. That's good progress." he sat down and crossed his legs "The hero's journey...looks like your spirit's the heroic, chivalrous type. The hero's journey is also in reference to an age old story telling technique, but I'm not sure if that's exactly what they mean. I think what they want is for you to fight for something bigger than yourself. There's more to life than us and those we're close to. People need help all the time, and we have the capabilities of doing so."
He looked up at the sky and smiled at the nice day "You're a good fighter, but there's more to fighting than being good at the physical aspect of it. What do you fight for? What do you want to fight for? How will you use that power you've been given? These are questions I think you should consider. You don't have to answer right away or even know the answer right now. One day it may just...come to you. We all have our reasons and desires, but finding something that just...clicks...does wonders for the mind. Once you can find that focus, I think your spirit will be pleased."

Kyosuke rest on the grass as he listen to Toki, fight for something bigger than himself? Easier said than done, sure there is one person he respects and would love to help, but to fight for her? Yeah that's taking it a little too far, pretty much since his teen years Kyo has done everything for himself, and while he has his selfless moments like when he was a bully hunter, most of the time he looks to get a benefit out of it, what's the point of risking your ass for just a thank you?
"If he wants for me to be a hero then the digital world is not my place" He sighed but was quickly interrupted by the Otamamon
"But you are a hero, you help Souji and Jazz's friend on the Tyrant's labyrinth! And then Amelie on the cave and trust me not many people will venture into the Tyrant's Labyrinth or the dark area at such a low level, I'm sure I wouldn't if it wasn't because you were there!" The little frog smiled although Kyo just shrug almost not paying much attention to her
"Truth be told the main reason I decided to stay here was to just have adventures, it might be a childish viewpoint but having a world full of weird creature and you having a power to fight them is just like a dream come true, yet these things are mostly pacific, haven't had a real fight and the times I had I was just a dead weight"
Thinking about it maybe his approach to the digital world was the wrong one, sure it is refreshing and more interesting than the human world, but wandering without direction hoping for something to happen is not a smart way to explore, maybe he could look for a group to travel or something? Nah that wouldn't work either
"Good questions... Wish I have an answer for them" He took a sitting position again and look at Toki "I've been fighting for myself most of my life, I don't do things just because I'm a nice guy and while I hate those who abuse their power and most likely will give a beating if I see them, going around beating bullies up doesn't sound too fun either" Maybe hearing another answer might help him with this questions "How about you? What are you fighting for and how did you get to that answer?"

Toki crossed his arms as he thought about the questions that Kyo had asked him "Well...give me a moment to think about that. Let me give you some context about me. Before the Digital World...before I came to Shibuya from Ishikawa, I was a bit of a wreck. When I was growing up all I could think about was mastering my family's Karate and being strong. That's all I cared about. I didn't seek out friends or keep up with a lot of trends. In short, I was pretty lonely and miserable."
He sighed a bit as he told this story "One time when I was in high school, a thug confronted me. He slashed my lip." he tapped the scar on his lip "And I put him in the hospital. He could have died. At that point I started to fear for my future and who I wanted to be. My parents thought a new environment would do me some good, so they sent me to go to university in Shibuya. It was a rough new start. People thought I was a thug because of the scar and my quiet demeanor. I was just...shy. I never really tried to talk to people before then. When I stumbled across the Digital World, I at first resented my status as a Spirit Wielder because I thought I'd still be alone...but thankfully my spirit was able to talk to me and guide me. He pushed me to meet people and to help others. And after a while that just clicked with me, especially with all of the new friends it made me."
He smiled as he looked at the drifting clouds "So I changed. A lot. And I'm happy with where I am now. I fight because I want to see people be happy. I want people to live their lives and reach the potential they were meant to reach. Because to me, the duty of the strong is to inspire others to find their own strength wherever that might be."
He hoped that what he had said was an answer for Kyo "It's okay to be here to go on adventures. Adventures are great! They lead you to new things and maybe even discover something about yourself. And as for being a hero...well...there's no single definition for being a hero. Everyone has their own ideals and goals. I reached my answer because someone picked me up from the lowest point of my life. That feeling of being believed in...the feeling that I could make something of myself despite all the years I spent isolating myself...that's a feeling I want others to feel. I want people to feel like their lives are important and help them reach the goals they thought were unattainable. So in short, live your life, find your answer as I've found mine. It may not come to you immediately, but I know it's out there. You may not be here with the intent on being a hero...but that doesn't mean you're not to some people. I'm sure there are those out there who believe in you."

Well he ask for it and got an answer, and what an answer! Even if he tried Kyo couldn't just not listen to Toki's story, he relate to it in a way, while not exactly the same story and background it is clear that Toki was a little bit like Kyo on the beginning he just manage to grow stronger and find his own reason to use his power as a spirit wielder.
"Interesting, you make it work on the end, at least your spirit serve as a guide and all things consider you sound like a nice guy, only an idiot would think you're a thug" He said after reflecting Toki's story, maybe giving a little more context about him would "I on the other hand just embrace the "thug" attitude and accept the loner path I had in front of me, I grew up in greater Shibuya so it was survival of the fittest, not helping the fact that I run away from home so I had to learn and survive on my own" The man made a pause, maybe it's not the best idea to open himself to a person that he just met, even if Toki is trying to help you and has share part of his story "Long story short, I learn to take care of myself and no one else, it's not that I'm socially awkward (which I am a little) it's just that I evade getting to know people and make friends, that way hurts less when you have to say good bye or the disappointment is not that big when they leave you"
That doesn't mean he is a stone cold person that doesn't care for anyone, as much as he tries to hide it some people are able to go past his tough exterior and have met with a loyal yet a little awkward friend, hell even the Otamamon he much says he hates and wishes to just go away has kind of slowly being accepted in his life, sure she's annoyingly optimistic but some little positivism from time to time doesn't hurt
"I guess is up to me to figure out things and grow up from my "loner" self, in a way you did help me with that story, it's nice to know that our beginnings weren't that different, mind sharing a couple of more stories? I may not look like that kind of guy, but I do love to hear the different stories and experience people had, specially in a world like this

Toki smiled as his story seemed to grab Kyo's attention "I'll try to think of some, but know that I can relate to how you feel. It's scary to get close to people. You don't know how long they'll be around or how long you'll be around, but I've learned I shouldn't let that stop me. Every moment is precious."
He thought for a while on what he could talk about "Let me tell you about what happened in the forest recently. A large scale attack intent on destroying the Sovereign there took place. I was there and helped evacuate some survivors. During a fight with a MetalPhantomon, I took a huge slash across my chest." he lifted his shirt to reveal the scar trailing down his torso. "But I fought on. And I won. Because those people needed me. Even after I got them to safety, as soon as I was healed I stepped right back into the action to stop a Megidramon from destroying the whole forest. I was helped by others who also wanted to save the forest and the place so many called home. In the end, the Megidramon was defeated, but we lost one of our own."
He sighed "Not all of it is battle and grim, however. I met great people. My friend Aylin helps me gather the spirit totems I need and I would be lost without her. I've met other spirit users, other tamers, all of whom I want to help. In turn, they help me. A hero...doesn't just give. A hero struggles, but those struggles earn them more than recognition. It earns them friends. Loved ones. A place to belong."
That warm smile he was known for returned "Not one moment do I regret coming here. For all the tough times, there's a bright moment at the end that makes it all worth it, even if I have to work for it. So even if you're struggling to find yourself, know that many others out there are doing the same. You'll get there. I did."

"Every moment is precious" Kyo has heard that phrase a couple of times, make the most of each second of your life, don't let things bring you down and most important of all keep moving forward no matter what, at the same time those phrases never had that much meaning for him as he never really had a goal or reason to strive forward, he just kept moving because lying down and wait was never an option.
"Live the moment feels like an easy task, even easier in this world since it seems there are a lot of things to do if you just look close enough"
He listen to the next story and look a little bit shocked when Toki show the scar, not because of the scar itself but because it meant the world could be even more dangerous than what he thought at first, digimon fights looks scary specially in higher levels
"I see... Sorry for your lost, I don't know if you knew that person or not but I imagine a lost in that situation should've sting" Even if you didn't personally know that person fighting together for the same cause in an event that could've meant the destruction of a whole forest and the home of many digimon must hurt
Luckily Toki change the topic to comment of his friend Aylin who helps him get his spirit and the other spirit users he met, he certainly had a long journey and learn a lot from it, the best is that he does this out of a desire to help the others and nothing else, no hidden reason, do the good deed of the day and make the world a better place, even if Kyo is the opposite in that regard thinking first of himself and later the rest, he can respect Toki for that
"You do seem to have a lot of experience and I gotta admit, I first I wasn't particularly thrill for the "teacher" thing, but I end up enjoying this, I still gotta find my own path and what I want to do with this power, but hearing what have you done so far I think I'm having an idea of what to do" He said, of course he was far from what people would call a hero and still thinks that the hero's journey is not for himself, but helping a little from time to time won't hurt, right? "Thanks, maybe we should go on an adventure together once I'm more in sync with my spirit, what do you say?"

Toki waited as Kyo thought about what he said and looked pleased at what they thought about his advice "I'm glad my advice has been helpful so far, Kyo. There's lots to do here and lots to experience, both good and bad. Once I realized that, I could focus on the things that mattered and what's special."
He nodded his head when Kyo sympathized with his loss. "It did sting. I've never really experienced that kind of loss before and it was really difficult to keep my composure...but I did what I had to. In the end...the forest was saved. So many people were given a chance to continue their lives because of it. It doesn't make it hurt any less, though."
He blushed a bit "Ah, I'm glad you think I'm good at this whole teacher thing. I'll admit I was a bit nervous this wouldn't work out, but I'm glad that it did. You'll find your own path and you'll do great. I'm sure of it. I honestly think you're a good person, so whatever path you take I'm sure it'll lead to amazing things."
At Kyo's suggestion that they go on an adventure sometime, Toki nodded happily "Of course! I'd like that a lot." he knew this meant that Kyo trusted him and would ask for his assistance despite his loner nature "There's always an opportunity for an adventure here, right? Old ruins, beautiful landscapes...I heard a place called The Blossom Isles recently opened their shores to the outside, so that's really exciting. I'll probably visit there sometime soon."

Both good and bad things to experience huh? Well guess he just need to look for it, but where? Wandering around expecting things to happen has prove to not be a good way, maybe he'll have to find a group or set a proper goal, the first option he finds it a little repulsive since team play is not his strong point but if he get use to the Otamamon's company surely he can work with a group, right?
The other option sounds better for his enjoyment of doing everything by himself but as proven he still has a lot to learn and without the cooperation of the spirit things can get really bad, decisions... Decisions... Eh? He'll have time to think about it later, for now let's focus on the conversation
"It's admirable that after such lost you manage to keep focus and do what you had to to protect the forest, I can tell you not many people would've be able to do that" Not that it was surprising as Toki looks like the guy that will remain calm even if facing the end of the world, that's a really good trait that Kyo wishes to have "I know whatever path this Journey gives me it's going to be amazing, once you hit rock bottom there is no other way than up, right? While he wouldn't say that he has hit rock bottom, life has seriously stall and gone boring for a while, the digital world is this chance to do something that feels worth
Well that's interesting, Toki did accept the invitation to explore something together, to be honest he didn't expect for the young man to decline but to accept so easily and even name some places was a pleasant surprise, the idea is there and he wouldn't mind Toki's company in the future for what little they interacted it was enough for Kyosuke to get to trust and respect the spirit wielder.
"Sure! Although I'd like to walk alone for a while yet, you know find my path and all that"
"But you'll not walk alone, I'll be by your side like the good partner I am!" The Otamamon proudly proclaim
"You don't know how to fight, you get easily scared and never carry your own weight, is the same as walking alone... Although I'm slowly getting use for you to be around" He sighed knowing that as long as he is in the digital world that little frog will never be apart from him "Thanks again Toki and sorry if any of this was a waste of time for you"

Toki admired the growth Kyo went through already. He seemed...calmer. He and Otamamon are getting along pretty well too, despite Kyo's teasing. "Looks like you're not going to be alone after all. Aoi here likes you and wants to see you succeed. Why would she put out the call for a teacher if she didn't, right?"
Admirable? Him? He scratched the back of his head a bit at this praise "I just do what I feel I'm capable of...gets me in trouble a lot of the time, but if it's what it takes to make someone's day even a little better...I'll do it. Though that time in the forest was different. Deep inside, I was quaking. I was absolutely horrified. And that's okay. Without fear, courage and heroism can't blossom. You know what they say...courage isn't the absence of fear. It's being able to push forward in spite of it."
He put a hand on his hip and smiled at Kyo as he said he wanted to go his own way for now "I understand. Go out there, make a name for yourself and see what's in store for you." he said in an encouraging tone. He tilted his head slightly when Kyo seemed worried this was all just a waste of time for Toki "Huh? Not at all! Why would this be a waste of time? You've made a ton of progress! I'm honestly really impressed. Even if we didn't make as much progress today, I'd still consider this a good use of my time. I've made a friend...I hope...and you've learned a bit more about yourself. I'm just glad I could help."

Why would she put the add is a good question, he still doesn't understand what makes the frog believe that they are partners, she just show up and started following around to the point that it's useless now try to explain why they're not partners
"I wish I knew the answer, right now I just let her follow me, being honest she was a key part in our last adventure so can't complain"
Listening to Toki speak show how much he has run through his journey, "being able to push forward in spite of it" now that's something he can get behind, that kind of mentality to keep moving forward no matter what's in front, to never give up and aim for more
"That's one way to see it, after all life put obstacles in our way and it's in us to stand up and surpass them, right?" Failure is part of life and you should learn from it and all that
Made a friend? that's one way of seeing it, while he would hesitate to call Toki a friend if anything because he is still iffy about having bonds with other people, this man is certainly one has gain his respect and if he ever needs anything Kyo will be there for him
"Yeah, I guess it work a lot for both of us, once again thanks for coming and give it a try, for now we gotta hit the road" He said standing up and the Otamamon climbing up to his shoulder
"Hope we meet again!" Aoi waved
"Yeah, I'm sure our path will cross in the future, after all I'll need help once I get the next totems" Kyo laughed and made a fistbump gesture waiting for Toki's answer

Toki chuckled "Well letting someone follow you around and spend time with you is a good sign you appreciate their presence, so good on you two. Seems like you both have each other for support, so keep at it."
He grinned slightly at his words "Yep! Stand tall and surpass whatever comes your way. Things will only get tougher, so we have to improve and rise to the challenge. If one of us isn't enough, then that's why we have companions who'll catch us when we fall or support us when we fail."
It seemed the two of them were preparing to leave for now "Of course! I'm glad I was able to help you. I should probably be heading out myself. There are things I have to go settle, plus Rosewood needs extra workers to get things squared away for the refugees, so I'll probably be there for a while."
He raised a hand and bid the two of them farewell "You two be safe out there, though I know you've got each others' backs. It was really nice meeting you both! I'm sure we'll meet again sometime in the future. I hope you and your spirit come to an understanding of each other, Kyosuke. Though it seems to me they'll need to make an effort to understand you as much as you have to understand them. Just be patient with each other. You'll get there." he said, as confident as ever.
With that, he too also turned to leave for his next adventures. He wasn't really sure when the two of them would cross paths again, but he hoped by then Kyosuke will have found the strength he needed.
