Bezil the Gumdramon realized that he rarely went far from his father. Since the moment they had met in the Village of Beginnings, Owen the Gaomon had been the foundation from which Bezil had experienced his life. He inherited much from him - fur, yellow eyes and a thirst for adventure, yet, taking that first step was always going to be difficult. Owen was many things to Bezil. His mentor, his friend, his guardian and his hero. 'If that's what 'father' means then that makes sense' he thought. Today, Bezil was pressing forth into the Server Woods. The Gumdramon felt that he was strong enough to do so now. He had been trained well in survival and combat skills enough that he felt like he was ready. In fact he felt like he could digivolve soon if it really came to it. And since today, Bezil felt an adventurous itch, yet Owen had classes of young digimon to teach, well, the solution was for Bezil to make it by himself. Yet... there was something unsettling about being alone. The pressing silence most of all. Bezil could talk all he wanted, yet with nobody to talk to, there was no point. And there was also a distinct discomfort... the feeling that anything could be near yet without a companion, he wouldn't know. Several times, Bezil had wanted to go back to the comforts of Rosewood, but, he had stopped himself. No, he had something to prove today. That he could start work to being a digimon that can look after himself. After all, he couldn't keep his father's affections all to himself. He had two older brothers and two younger sisters that were part of his family too. All of them had to share such things. And Bezil wouldn't one day prove himself worthy of being the son of two heroes unless he went out there. And so, Bezil continued. Walking the old abandoned Trailmon tracks that made their way through the woods was probably the best way to find something interesting, yet... after several hours of doing so, Bezil hadn't found anything of note so far. Plus his white tummy was making growling noises by now. He looked up, the sun was vertically above him. 'Time for lunch then' he thought, then looked for a suitable site. He found it in a clearing, well, what used to be a forest village. It had been abandoned long ago, the only traces were long rotted wood and some stones. Still though, Bezil knew it was a bad idea cooking in heavy foliage. The Gumdramon sat on a large stone, taking his bag from his back. He hummed a little song his father taught him as he made the preparations. He held his hammer-like tail on the stone next to him, then placed a metal rack upon it. Then, he pulled out some fresh meat he had brought along. The forest was cool these days, so it hadn't spoiled in the few hours he had been out here. Then, he placed the meat on the rack, then focused inward to find his fiery draconic energy, deep inside. By now he had mastered it, the fire appeared on his tail at will. Bezil grinned and watched the meat begin to sizzle - sausage, lamb chop and hamburger. As his lunch gradually cooked, Bezil watched his surroundings for a moment, then decided to sing the song he had been humming. Owen had told him that it was the marching tune of the 7/71st. For a moment, Bezil pictured himself with his father on the battlefield, the right hand mon of the Recon Captain. Gosh, those days would have been glorious.

"Treasure" can take many forms. It might be an ancient chest brimming with gold and silver objects, a romantic image of something almost mystical hidden away and forgotten in bygone times, even hoarded riches that belonged to a prospered time. But is the fascination with such treasures purely a desire for wealth, or has it more to do with romantic appeal of tales of lost ancient artifacts? With a place such as The Tyrant's Labyrinth - a place that was rumor to hold a slew of treasures in the presence of an ancient entity long since dormant, for Kitt, it pose a challenge that was made to be conquered.
Holding a folded map in his hands, the hooded Spadamon headed into the forest, following the directions that the map was giving him. It had just been yesterday that he heard about this place with Eris's uncle, Logane was talking about it to a fellow colleague. Perking his ears when the words treasure were uttered from his mouth, Kitt decided to sneak out early this morning when everyone was asleep, packing up necessities for journeys such as this without disturbing anyone.
It seemed like an advantage to be traveling alone. Becoming free for the day or two will take the time for him to learn about himself; the scared and the insecure, the brilliant and the bold. But...maybe having a companion like Eris to join him would have made this even better. Someone like him, who have a history of traveling since he was homeless before he met her, needed someone that questions him, not too little, and not too much. He needed somebody to read him, but also really listen to him. Because she'll want the same thing. Now that he thought about it, he should have brought Eris along. He was her "Diamond in the Rough" after all, so she's probably worried about him right now.
The sun's rays were barely able to penetrate the thick leaves, reducing visibility a bit...not that was a problem for Kitt though. His eyes glowed a dim gold, allowing him to see just fine, regardless of how dark the trail was. As he continued walking, the forest was littered with bushes and trees. The trunk of one of the closest trees was a turquoise color and had small, purple leaves.
"Vegetation's getting thinner, which means I'm probably getting close to a clearing." he said to himself. He pressed on, following the map until he reached the clearing thirty minutes later. It was a meadow, which was flat with wood and stone in the distance. If Eris was here, she would probably drag him by the tail, opting to investigate whatever's there further. Feeling the imaginary chomps on his tail, he had a feeling that this was clue into the right direction. Looking at the map, the trail leads into a meadow, which is what he's seeing right now. His nose picked up something good: food. Does someone lived here? he wondered. Curious, he pressed on to whatever structure that was in the meadow, wanting to investigate whoever was here.

As the food cooked further, Bezil flipped the meat a little from time to time so it all cooked evenly. That was the way of it as he was taught. Cook the meat through for the best taste, but not too much that would kill the flavor. In fact, Bezil remembered some tips his father had taught. The right selection of herbs can change a meal from adequate to amazing. Yet, of course, it wasn't like he had a mobile spice rack upon his person. But he did have little phials of crushed Rosemary and Thyme that tended to go well with meat. He'd add them once the meat was finished in cooking. Already the aromas of the simmering food were wafting around the area. Bezil kept his eyes and ears on alert here, all sorts of digimon could be attracted to this. Eventually, he did detect another digimon approaching. He turned to see... a Spadamon wearing a coat. This piqued his curiosity. Seeing a fellow rookie level here, he didn't know what to make of that. But, he remembered his father's advice when alone against a stranger. Be confident, friendly, and show no signs of fear. If they were villainous, they would run and seek weaker targets. If they were friendly, they would respond in kind. "Gudday there!" Bezil called out to them, waving. "Didn't think I'd see another digimon out here. You hungry, mate? I've got enough food here to share if you want"Bezil hoped that this would be enough to discern friend from foe. He remained seated, but, was prepared for things to get ugly in the low chance that it would happen.

As Kitt walked, making sure to not trip on anything like a stone or branch, the structures were becoming much more clear to him. It would appear that this place used to be a village that has been long abandoned. The heavy foliage, tall grass, and barely visible roads was proof that the forest was starting to slowly reclaim this area that had been settled long ago. The Digital World is known for changing rapidly in a short amount of time, so it will only take a year or two until everything here will become as undistinguished as the forest itself.
No matter. Kitt's focus right now was to see if anyone was living here or not. The smell of the food was getting closer and closer. It was meat, he knew that much, but it had a little something to it that he couldn't quite put his finger on; all he know was that it was making him hungry. He did have food stored in containers in his backpack, but they were only food meant for long travels like cup noodles, crackers, granola bars, dried fruits - anything that would provide him energy. He didn't know how long he was gonna be gone from Eris anyway since he was nowhere as close to the Labyrinth's treasure.
Coming to where the smell of cooking was coming from, he saw only one Digimon; a Gumdramon sitting on a rock. In fact, a rather fluffy one from the looks of it. He didn't looked like he lived here, rather was in the wilderness like him It looks like they were by their lonesome. The Gumdramon turned to his direction, likely due to them hearing his footsteps. He put the map behind his back, wanting to be inconspicuous. He hoped that he wasn't also looking for the treasure, otherwise there would be some competition. Kitt raised an eyebrow when he offered him some of his food. He didn't expected this kind of generosity.
"Oh, umm... hi." he replied, taking a step back. "I'm good, b-but thank you sir. It's your food and I don't' want to intrude." He tilted his head as he noticed that the food that he smelled along the way was being cooked...on the Gumdramon's flaming tail?
"Hey umm, how are you doing that with your tail if I may ask?"

Bezil noticed the quick stowing away of the paper, but didn't inquire about it. Not for the moment anyway. The Spadamon seemed a little shy. Bezil should have known that from the way he kept his hood up, even in these woods where the sunlight didn't quite break the green canopy above. The Spadamon held back for a moment, not wanting to intrude. "Well, not like you're interrupting anything, just me here, and my dad told me it's always polite to offer hospitality wherever possible to other solo travellers" Bezil replied to that. His offer was not yet withdrawn. Then the Spadamon made the observation that his tail was on fire. "Ah, this? Heh, no worries, this is just a special technique I can use" Bezil explained. "My tail can produce fire, since I'm part dragon you see. It's a step in one of my attacks, but, in this case I'm just using it to cook, heheh".Indeed when he had first done it, it was unusual cooking things with his own tail, but, Bezil had soon got used to it. Now it was something of a casual chore for him. "Well, even if you don't wanna share food, nice to meet you anyway" Bezil continued. "The name's Bezil, of Rosewood. My parent's names are Owen, he's a Gaomon, and Hikaru, a Dorumon, and my family's a Logamon, WhiteGaomon, another Dorumon and Ryudamon if you've met any of them so far".
His curiosity lingered on. "So then, interesting place for a couple of adventurers to end up, eh? What brings you to this part of the world?" Bezil asked.
By now the sausages, lamb chops and hamburgers were nearly done. Bezil turned them a little with his claws, with no ill effects on him from the heat.

Kitt drew a sigh of relief when the Gumdramon explained to him that his tail being on fire was one of his abilities. For second, he thought he was gonna have to run to a nearby stream and gather some water to dump on his burning tail. It was an unusual way for cooking for sure, but if it works, it works.
The Gumdramon introduced himself as Bezil. As he talked about his family, Kitt sat on his knees in front of him. Man, he has a big family; about as big as Eris's. Well...that would be his family too, since he was adopted by them a few months ago. His eyes narrowed as he paused to think. Besides Eris and Logane, he didn't know anyone in his new extended family. They were always busy doing heroic deeds throughout the Digital World, so he doubt if they ever know he exist.
"I'm Kitt, of Luminas City." he said, taking off his hood to reveal his face fully. Usually he wouldn't take off his hood, but Bezil didn't seem like a Digimon that would make fun of his appearance. He seemed really chilled back for the most part.
He turned his head away when Bezil asked him what he was doing here, looking up to the sky."Oh umm...just up and about is all." he responded. He didn't want to tell him about the treasure that lies deep within this place. If he did, he would probably want a piece of the treasure, if not everything. No way he was having that! "I'm just following where the wind takes me. It's my shepherd wherever I go."
The food that he was cooking smelled just about done. He darted his eyes back and forth, trying his best to not give into the temptation. So many delicious smells, it all drew a grumble out of his stomach, which made him turn a bit red from embarrassment.

"Wow you're from Luminas City?" Bezil asked, his yellow eyes lighting up with interest as Kitt knelt down nearby, taking off his hood. Bezil didn't object. "That's really cool, I haven't met anyone from up there. Was it hard getting down here? Well... dad told me that all you have to do is fly so it probably wouldn't be too hard".By now the meat was cooked. Bezil took a plate out of his bag and a pair of tongs, putting the sausage, hamburger and lamb chop on it. He listened to Kitt's explanation that he was just following the wind. "Ah, okay, that's cool" Bezil said. "I'm just heading this way, following old Trailmon lines to see if they go anywhere interesting. Sometimes we uncover some useful places. Like... dad and I found a yard in the forest full of old Trailmon carriages, and someone else found an old quarry that we got working again so we can move building stones back to town".Bezil heard Kitt's stomach growling, which made the Gumdramon smile and take out a second plate from his bag. "Go on, have one" he insisted. "I'll be fine, I came with plenty of food".Whether or not Kitt accepted, Bezil would munch on a juicy morsel for a bit himself before continuing on. "So this place used to be a village, huh?" he mused, looking at the piles of rubble around the clearing. "I wonder what happened here? I hope it was a case that everyone decided to move to a larger city. That's been happening a lot in the Timberlands now that Rosewood's here, a lot of digimon abandoning their old villages to come to a bigger town..." he made something of a worried expression. "I hope digimon aren't too mad about it... I've heard there's some in the forest that resent Rosewood being there". Indeed he'd heard it spoken from the mouth of an angry FlyBeemon. Well, putting that thought to one side, Bezil turned his attention back to Kitt. "That's a nice jacket you have there" he complimented him. He didn't go further than that, given that Kitt seemed to be the shy type.

When Bezil said it was really ok to have one of the meats for himself, Kitt looked looked at both him, and the plate of food before happily the plate from his hand, using the tongs to grab two lamb chops, nomming on the meat happily. "Thanks for the food, mister!" he said, with his mouth stuff. This was more delicious than the food he got from home. Plus, since he was on diet to gain weight since he was still a bit on the scrawny side, as Logane put it anyway.
Kitt listened as to why the Gumdramon was out here, sayinf that he was following old Trailmon lines to anything undiscovered. And that reminded him: the treasure map he got had something that appeared to be railroad tracks on it! Seeing that Bezil was a nice Digimon, his previous worries about the Gumdramon claiming the treasure for himself was gone. Bezil then went on about the abandoned village they were in, about how it's been pretty much abandoned due to Rosewood. He's been to that town before; on a date with Ophelia. It was a bit depressing. A town once bustling with life, now abandoned and on the brink of ruin.
"Yeah..." he responded, sharing the worried expression with him. "It's ashamed that memories of this place are now fading away."
Taking another bite out of his lamp chop, Bezil made a compliment to Kitt's cloak. To the Spadamon, this was a surprise, so much so that it made him jumped in surprise. "Oh, t-thank you very much!" he blurred out, with a small blush appearing on his face. He wasn't expecting that. His eyes darted a bit before continuing. "I made it myself. Though before it was in a much ragged state, but a...friend of mine refurbished it." He didn't notice that the treasure map fell out of his pocket, visible to Bezil's sight.

"No worries!" Bezil grinned in response to Kitt, before proceeding to have his own meal of sausages and a hamburger. They were as good as he thought they'd be, and he was delighted. Now with a full belly, Bezil was considerably more fired up for exploring the area further. "Yeah... but, well, some day Rosewood might get too big in return, so that'd mean that other villages would have to be built again" Bezil reasoned to Kitt. It was all obvious in his mind, at least, but, the specifics were a little out of his reach for the time being. Kitt reacted with a blush to his compliment about his cloak. "Ahh, okay. Still, looks like it can keep the weather out, which is the main thing. This lil vest of mine can't do that, but, eh, I'm tough enough for a bit of rain" he finished with a peppy grin. It was then that he noticed a paper fall out of Kitt's pocket. "Ah, right, you dropped something there" Bezil said, pointing to it. While curious, the Gumdramon wasn't going to presume it'd be okay for him to pick it up himself. Still, his sharp eyes saw that the paper bore some kind of cartographic image. "Is that a map?" he asked, curiously, but wouldn't intrude too far if Kitt wasn't comfortable. Otherwise, he'd pack away his cooking gear for the time being and ready himself for further exploration of the area.

"Well you won't be saying that when you get sick." Kitt said, chuckling in response. It wasn't the most fashionable cloak he had. In fact, it was the only clothing he had, but as long as it kept him warm and dry it was plausible. He then took a moment to finish his meal. The Gumdramon was almost as good as Myceal when it came to the culinary arts. Sighing in relief now that he was full, Kitt rubbed his belly and laid on the grass, wanting to relax a few moments.
It wouldn't last long however when Bezil pointed out that something fell out of his pocket. Opening his eyes, he sprang up from the grass and looked back and forth until Bezil pointed to where it was at. "Phew! Thanks for that!" he said, picking it up. Before he could put it in his pocket, the Gumdramon aksed him if it was a map. Damn. So much for keeping secrets.
"Oh um, yeah." he responded, holding it out for him. Now that his secret was out, there was no need to hide it any further. Besides, Bezil didn't seem like the type of Digimon that would stab him in the back; he's experienced that too many times before. He opened the map fully. It showed a map of Tyrant's Labyrinth, divided into three parts, each part decorated slightly different.
"Apparently, they say that there's a slew of hidden treasure, long since forgotten by modern Digimon, hidden among the dense vegetation. " Kitt indicated, pointing to the X that marked the chest. "We're here," he pointed to the symbol that represented the ruined village. "To get to treasure, one must pass three obstacles: one, the torrent river that's said to be almost impossible to swim through," he indicated to the symbol that represented water eastward from here. "Second is the labyrinth itself," he indicated to the forest symbol. "And finally, the Digimon known as the 'Tyrant' itself." He pointed to the question mark symbol that was in the middle of the forest.
Kitt looked at Bezil, a gleam of confidence shine through his eyes. "That's why I'm really out here. Sorry I couldn't tell you earlier, had to know to be sure you were someone to trust."

Bezil had to admit that was a good point. But still, he had been taught a little about that. "It takes more than rain to make someone sick after all" he stated. But still, there was logic in that. Exhaustion combined with undernourishment combined with rain could make sickness happen rather easily. But, since none of those things were happening to the Gumdramon right now, he didn't think it was a priority to think about. Now the thing that was on his mind was the map. Thankfully Kitt didn't seem evasive about it once it was in plain view. Bezil looked at it eagerly, taking in the information it held. It was a treasure map of all things! No wonder Kitt had been a little evasive earlier. If Bezil had been a bad digimon, of course Kitt would have been worried that he would've taken it. But Bezil wasn't a bad digimon, so he simply looked at the map with interest. So, it seemed there were three obstacles. The first was a torrential river that seemed to be impossible to swim through. The second was a labyrinth. And the third, a tyrant. The Gumdramon mulled over this in his mind. The first obstacle, a torrential river... well, for one thing, Bezil would sink to the bottom of any body of liquid thanks to the heavy hammer on his tail, that was without his diving gear, which reconfigured his body so that he could swim and breathe underwater. Wait, no, that wouldn't work, they needed to get Kitt across too. The second, a labyrinth. That seemed to be an obstacle better tacked with a team than by one alone. And the third, the tyrant of the labyrinth. Bezil felt strong enough to handle threats as they appeared, so, he hoped he could help with that too. "No worries, mate, that's some pretty heavy info you have there" Bezil replied. "But... if I can be so bold, I reckon I can help you. First, the torrent..." he poked his paw on the stream. "If it's narrow enough, we could chop down a tree and use it as a bridge to get across, that might be the easiest way"."Second, well, my dad's taught me some navigation skills that could help in a maze. I could help you there too. And third, well, combat skills was my favorite course back home in Rosewood, so, any bad guys show up, I'll mess 'em up, then we can get the treasure!"Then Bezil realized that Kitt might have been wanting to keep the treasure for himself. Perhaps that might have been the reason why he hadn't shared that information? Bezil thought out of politeness he'd best inquire if that arrangement was alright. "Only if you're okay with that though. If you don't need help, that's alright, I'll leave you alone if you want."That was only fair, right? If Kitt had the means to get the treasure himself, Bezil wouldn't intrude.

As Bezil reiterated what he said, Kitt listened with keen interest, leaning in to see if he'd understand what he said. He was impressed that the Gumdramon could come up with ideas on how to tackle each obstacle. It had been a while that he met a Digimon that was a quick thinker.
When he asked whether or not he could join him, Kitt opened and closed his mouth several times before he closed it fully, unable to find an answer that would be suitable. On the one hand he wanted to decline his offer, not out of wanting to keep the treasure for himself (well partially), but because he didn't want to put the Gumdramon in danger if something goes haywire. Despite him saying that he exceled in combat, he didn't want to risk it. If he got seriously hurt, espescially with whatever Digimon that lurked in the Tyrant's Labyrinth, it would be his fault. On the other hand, seeing that the obstacles would be difficult on his own, it wouldn't hurt to have a hand. Besides, he had to repay him back for the delicious meal he gave him.
After thinking for a few moments, he reached his decision. "Of course you can come along," he smiled. "I'd love to have some company!" Blushing a bit, Kitt anxiously rubbed the back of his head, lowering it a little. "And uhh...to be honest...I'm not very good at navigation. So even with a map, there's a high chance I could get lost on my own; I'm a little clumsy if you couldn't tell."
"And if we do find whatever treasure that's hidden here, you can help yourself to whatever you see." When he said that, the inner voice in his head started to scream in denial.
NOOOOO JUST TAKE IT ALL FOR YOUSELF YOU CLOD!
Shaking his head to clear that internal outburst, he got from the rock he was sitting, holding his hand out to Bezil. "You ready to go, partner?"

Bezil took note of Kitt's hesitation. It was understandable of course. They had only just met, and Kitt had little reason to trust him, especially in such a matter as treasure hunting. Yeah, Bezil had given him food, but, he could understand that if their positions were reversed, there was always the opportunity for betrayal.
"I completely understand if you don't trust me, Kitt" Bezil said. "Just say the word and I'll walk away and it'd be like I never saw the map, I promise. But, if we do this together, well... maybe we could be friends at the end of this?"
As he said that, a blush formed on the Gumdramon's cheeks. He realized that since he had parted ways with his father, he didn't really have any friends, well, friends that hadn't been made without Owen's assistance. If he could do this, maybe he'd have a better time in the digital world on his own?
Bezil was glad that Kitt seemed to be inclined to accept his help. He was about to wag his tail, but with his tail being a hammer, that was probably a habit he should stop, so he halted himself. Instead, the Gumdramon grinned and gave a thumbs up.
"No worries, mate! I'll do my best to get us there, don't you worry about that." And at the mention of the treasure? Bezil gave a more serious nod. "Well, I think you should have first dibs of whatever we find, since you found the map first after all." he reasoned.
Then Kitt stood up, offering his hand. Bezil stood up too, and gave a firm, friendly shake. "Yep, I'm ready" he replied, ready for their treasure hunt.

Happy that Bezil was now on board, Kitt's tail stood straight up, a sign that he's feeling friendly or content. "All right then, to treasure we go!" he boldly stated, determination filled in his eyes. After that, the two ventured on deep within the forest.
Following the map to the stream, the walk so far was pleasant. The terrain for the most part was easy and gentle and the sky had a bit of overcast--a chance that rain might start later. It seemed this area of the Digital World was largely barren population wise, showing how new cities have left previously habited villages like the one him and Bezil were in abandon.
Eventually the grass became more thickly overed with flowers of different shades and colors, telling Kitt that they were going in the right direction. They had found themselves in an area where walls created by natural erosion were covered with blooms and ivy; purple leaves from the tress practically hid the place from view.
"Wow..." Kitt said, flabbergasted, "I think this will make a perfect place to start up camp once we're done." After Bezil's response the two continued on.
After a couple of minutes of traversing Kitt stared at the ground for a bit. He was trying to find what to talk about with Bezil. Conversing wasn't one of his strong suits as he was the kind that would only respond when spoken to. Then something finally clicked.
'Oh hey, have you ever met any Digimon that are partnered with humans?" he asked. "I think they referred to themselves as...Tamers if I can recall or something. Did you ever met any nice ones?"

Glad that they had come to an agreement, Bezil grinned in response. He quickly packed up the lunch gear before they left, returning the grill and plates to his backpack. While still dirty, well, he could just wash them in the stream that was coming up.
Once that was done, Bezil walked at Kitt's side through the woods. The Gumdramon could smell the dampness in the air, combined with the grey clouds above. Well, at least they didn't need fire to survive out here, but, the damp air would probably make it difficult to procure on the path ahead. Still, not anything too bad.
Eventually, they came across an area in the forest that seemed like perfect shelter. Surrounded by natural walls lined with ivy, providing shelter from the harsher elements. Yeah, this looked like a great place. "Yup! Just hope we can claim it once we're done here" he agreed.
As they continued, Kitt asked Bezil if he had met any humans. Bezil almost bubbled over with mentioning several names at once in response. However, he caught himself in time.
"Yep, met quite a few" he answered. "First there's my dad's partner, Yuuki. Then my brother's partner Tadao. Then I've met friends of my dad... Colin, Adrian, Tetsu, Nik. Ah, also friends I met in a storm. Justice, Leith and John..."
Bezil realized he was probably at the point of rambling here, then chuckled a little. "Well, all in all, yeah, I've met quite a few humans that are pretty cool." he shrugged. "I could introduce you to them, but, kinda hard when they're not here. I guess... maybe assume from the start that a human's probably kinda cool and you won't be disappointed?" he offered as advice on the matter.
After he stopped talking for a little while, he thought he might return the conversation a little. "How about you? Have you met anyone interesting on your travels so far? Human or digimon?" he asked, eager to learn more.
