Almost as black as the night itself, she ran, unheard and unseen through the thick mess of undergrowth. The thick canopy overheard guarding the strange creature against sight as she ran, only pausing to peer down at the device which sat between the gloved paws. Upon the tiny screen, a single light glistened upon a map. A single white dot descending down from the heavens, or so it seemed. It was difficult to tell, the device was so primitive. Although, it proved to be their only chance. She couldn’t let the opportunity pass without interference. Once more, the strange creature clutched onto the device and furiously run in the direction to which it pointed, ready to intercept.
Through a gap between the thickest, oldest and most gnarled of trees which littered this ancient site, their roots jutting from the undergrowth like poised snakes, ready to strike. She could see it. A strange, and equally as ancient-looking manor house. Even from a distance, it was clear the house was in disrepair and was collapsing in upon itself. The strange creature paused, looking upon the house. Musing to herself, “Why would the device send me here. What kind of emergence point is this.”
The ancient manor, once grand, stood oddly between the trees – mostly blocked from sight and from mind. The four grand stain-glass windows were shattered and missing panes, the roof was missing tiles in places and most notably, had a large hole in the roof where a chimney would have once stood. Even the double doors, made from a polished and varnished oak, hung limply from the frame. If this house stood in the real world, it’d be quite a tourist attraction. However, in this world, it was just another odd thing betwixt other odd out of place attractions.
The strange creature approached, finally moving out from the shadow casting canopy. The black cat stood, enveloped by the moonlight and looking up, not at the strange house but the sky. Between the moon and the stars, something else had opened up in the digital sky. Like someone had reached up into the sky and tore it open – a gap between worlds. As soon as the tear appeared, it stitched itself closed again and then vanished. Leaving behind just a single, white, shimmering star flickering in the sky.

"...Of all thing you told me to train with..." a voice muttered in displeasure. There was a certain tremble in how tit sounded, a tremble that the owner of the second voice did not miss.
"Heh, I thought so, you're still afraid of ghosts, aren't you? Well, we always avoided places like this exactly because of that fear, but this time around we got enough experience elsewhere, you know? Time to face your phobia, buckle up and let's not run til dawn."
"Fuck you, that's too much of a hurdle for me," now the voice sounded obviously more agitated.
"Seriously, loosen up, you're not alone! Digimons can be easily punched, you know?"
"Arrrgh, I HOPE you're right on that..."
From the thicket, a blue lizard Digimon came out first. His stature looks different from most of his species, looking more battle ready, almost more to his evolution rather than a Vmon. Trailing behind the Digimon is a youth who as battle prepared--except none as intimidating. Far from it, he looked completely jittery. His silverish blue eyes wildly darts from a corner to another, hoping to catch any sign of any supernatural beings... in this case, ghost Digimons that might appear. Thankfully there are none, but... The building in front of him... it looked like nothing but haunted mansion. As much as he wanted to admire is architecture, his sense of dread is winning by a wide margin. One cannot be too sure. Ryouta whipped out his digivice, a smartphone-like object and aimed the scanner at the building in general.
His expression soured as if he just ate something detestable.
"...Fuck this shit... 80% chances of Ghost Digimons?"
"...Well, a Bakemon or two is not too bad isn't it?"
"Did it looked like it's just one or two!?"
There were no time for tsukkomi however, as something strange happened... Something... seem to be here, something that felt like a portal just opened. Whatever it is, he's not sure, and to be honest... It did piqued his interest somewhat... But can he enter this place... is the question. Honestly, not enough seeing ghosts in real life; he have to see ghost in Digital World too? End him already.
"...Argh, whatever... I guess I'll check in after all..."
Ryouta activated his Digivice's automapping function. Hopefully he'll know what's going on just now... Whatever it was, it was unusual for sure.

The shimmering white star flickered brightly for a moment and then faded back into the inky blackness. The night sky returned to ‘the usual’ horizon of flickering digital information. The strange, gaping opening cut roughly in the sky stitched back up and sealed itself. Before, vanishing into the inky darkness. That strange flickering star was falling through the sky, down, down into the world below. Fortunately for Anna, her fall would be a soft one. Albeit, a close call.
She fell towards the equally strange manor house, like a shooting star. Before falling through the derelict hole in the roof, where the grand chimney had once stood. The blond haired girl was caught by a pile of sheets which lay upon the wooden slats which lay across the attic. Anna sat up slowly, turning her head from left to right. Her eyes slowly adjusting to the darkness. The only light coming in from the full moon through the opening in the roof. “Wait, what? What’s happening.” She raised a hand and moved it in front of her eyes. Everything felt like it was going in slow motion, somehow. An unusual feeling. Of course, no-one answered her question.
Until. A voice came out of the darkness. A low, cold and utterly spooky drawl saying three words. “Trick-or-treat, TRICK OR TREAT!” Anna felt all the hairs stand up on the back of her neck. Her face turned as ghostly white as the ‘sheets’ she had landed on. They were not sheets at all but. “G-G-G-Ghosts! Ghoooooosts,” Anna screamed at the top of her voice, before rolling backward out of the loft and down the narrow set of stairs which led to the main house. “O-ouch. That really hurt,” she said, rubbing the back of her head which had slammed into several of the steps. “I-I-I really HATE ghosts,” Anna said, in a voice which echoed through the house. It was quite true, ever since she was a little kid – she had hated all of that horror nonsense; ghost stories, scary movies and even Halloween were terrifying to Anna. “I must have been… seeing things,” Anna said to herself, trying to stand up but finding her legs were shaking so hard, it was a struggle.
Then – the white shapes appeared again, right through the walls. They were like sheets except exceedingly frayed and dirty. Large, spherical black eyes peered out from within the white body. “Trick-or-treaaaaat!” The ghosts cried, approaching Anna who was too frightened to even scream. The terrified Anna fell into a crumpled ball. Hands over her head and visibly shaking with fright. “Just leave me alone, j-just leave me.” She whimpered, feebly and rather pathetically.

...Would she believe that there are other people that screaming other than her? This one sounded more like a male too. Perhaps it would sounded like a wail at first, closer, closer, closer... the corridor from the side is illuminated with blue glow... but what came after it is...
"GYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH"
For some reason, a Bakemon suddenly flew from the corridor, as if someone punched it REALLY HARD. Then another, then another, then another--this one is much more beaten up then the rest, then the last one, some of its teeth were missing. And what came from that corridor is... a tall teen who looked as if he was absolutely terrified of these ghosts. Upon seeing another human (one that seem to be in similar predicament), Ryouta grabbed something random that lies there... it happened to be a broom, the chuck it at full strength at the ghost, all while still screaming.
"....This is seriously a hell of a new fighting style if I ever saw one... Terror brawling..."
That voice came from Vmon that looked so very relaxed despite in house full of ghosts Digimons. If anything to him this is absurdly hilarious, especially when he saw how these Bakemons picked wrong target and got Oraoraora'd in panic.
"Oya, another human huh? Yo, lady! Are you fine over there? Need any help?" the Vmon asked to Anna.

By this point, Anna had collapsed from fright, caused by the swarm of Bakemon. The pale, white sheet-like ghost monsters floated around the tiny blond girl, as she cowered, pathetically – whimpering in fright. The Bakemon’s mouth was wide with malicious laughter, revealing rows of sharp white teeth. As Anna was about to be spooked even more so, by the ghosts, a noise broke the spooky hollering. A scream and then a Bakemon flying down the corridor.
“W-what’s going on?” Anna whimpered, looking up from her crouched position. She caught sight of a man swinging a broom around and throwing it at the ghosts. It was probably one of the strangest things that Anna had ever seen. If she wasn’t so terrified, she’d have laughed at the absurdity of the situation. Then, another voice filled the air. It wasn’t spooky like the Bakemon, so again, Anna looked up and this time caught sight of a blue dinosaur-like monster. This one was oddly cute looking, at least compared to the Bakemon so it was an improvement in her eyes. “Um, h-hey,” Anna said uncertainly, her eyes wide - taking in the monster. “I’ll b-be o-okay when those ghosts go away. Is… that guy going to be okay?” She tilted her head a little and looked back at the man who was fighting the Bakemon. “He’s fighting ghosts. Can you do that?” Nothing here made much sense.
From several levels below this, the black cat slunk in through a broken window pane. Landing softly on the dust-coated wooden floor of what appeared to be a living room of some kind. Complete with an ancient-looking sofa and a great plush armchair. “Perfect,” she muttered to herself, unaware of the action above.

"What, him? You don't have to be worried. Bakemons are... how to say this... They're weak, alright? If you caught them off guard without letting them to merge, even an elementary school kid athlete could beat them up black and blue. That guy there is a black belt..." the Vmon began to say, but the 'GYAAAH' from Ryouta as he frantically fight the ghosts definitely doesn't come as convincing.
"...Uh...Well if he's calmer than now, he'll sure look more intimidating, but he have... how to say, Phasmophobia? Apparently Aniki can see ghosts even in real world so eh," he shrugged. "Anyway, the moment he needed my help, I'll get to--"
"GYAAAAHHH!!" and this time around somehow he found a kitchen sink and tossed it to one of the poor Bakemon who immediately knocked out cold.
"...Well, I guess I need to teach him how to do fight or flight reaction more prudently. Anyway, me fighting the ghost will be dandy and all, but I guess for now he doesn't need my help. If he needs my help, I'll definitely help."

If it was possible, Anna grew even more confused at the developments and battle that was before her. Her head tilted as she watched the boy fighting with the horrible ghost monsters, now known as Bakemon. “The ghosts are weak? They seemed… pretty terrifying to me,” Anna admitted as she looked on with growing confusion. “I wouldn’t want to fight them.”
As they were chatting away, and the boy was fighting on – he somehow found what appeared to be a kitchen sink and threw it directly at a Bakemon knocking it out cold to the ground so it lay as nothing more than a heap of cloth. “Oh… right,” Anna said, her head tilting so far – her neck was in danger of snapping. She took a few steps backward so she stood behind the strange dinosaur-like monster and further away from the danger of another ghost attack.
But, clearly. It wasn’t far enough. As another few ghosts appeared through the peeling wallpaper behind her. Anna let out a loud, high-pitch scream that echoed through the house. From under the cloaked white sheet, the Bakemon drew out long blue, clawed hands and bared them directly at Anna. She keeled over with fright, unable to move. “LEAVE ME ALOOOOOOOOOOOONE!!!” Anna screamed at the top of her voice, visibly shaking.
From the level above, unheard and unseen - the sneaky cat lay low - flat against the floorboards edging herself slowly towards the echoing screams down below.

"I mean terrifying wise, there are a lot of terrifying monsters, lady~" Valt answered. "Oh name's Valt and over there is my partner, Ryouta. You don't have to fight them but I feel it's better if you can swing something around, you know? Hmm, let's see... something shaped like a key? Nah, that'd be too silly. ...Oh I won't suggest you to back off that far to a w---"
...just as he said that the girl screamed because more Bakemon came out from the wall. Honestly, what a noisy house. It can't be helped though because he does understand how hard it is to have partner with Phasmophobia.
"Aniki, if you have ti--"
The Digivice shined. Well, that was good that he had the time to press the digivolution button, eh? Valt's body immediately spun as he rose to the air. A circle of golden light materialized on the air and his body disintegrated into data that passed through the golden gate. What came out first was the horn, then head, then body, then the rest of it. At first it looked like a wireframe render, but immediately after a second golden light rendered him to his Adult form, XVmon.
"BOOYAH!" a kick to the Bakemon's face was all it takes for him to take it out.
"Hey lady, if you want to hide, you should just get closer to me!"
Looking at Ryouta... he managed to beat about near to thirty of Bakemons already huh. That's some number...

Anna let out a loud scream as the Bakemon phased through the wall in great numbers and then swarmed over her. Their gross, blackened, mummified hands raised. “LEAVE. ME. ALONE!” She screamed so loudly, it echoed back through the house to her. She began to scramble around, picking up random objects to throw at the Bakemon. An old clock, some junk, a key – most of which either bounced off of the Bakemon’s bodies or phased right through. The strange blue dragon-dinosaur-like Digimon began to glow and then transformed into a larger version of himself, except with a set of white wings across his back. “Hell’s Haaaaaaaand,” some of the Bakemon cried in a ghostly scream, extending their hands outwards which extended towards Anna. Anna ducked and grabbed on to XVmon’s leg. “Don’t leave me alone, I hate g-ghosts,” she was basically crying at this point.
As more Bakemon approached, their arms raised again. Something odd happened, from out of nowhere… a black spark of lightning shot past them. A few of the Bakemon backed off, mid-attack. Clearly confused by the sudden appearance of… "Kitty! Look, a cute kitty!!"
She was correct. A black cat stood in front of them. Its fur was the color of soot and wore a pair of purple gloves, with sharpened black claws. “I suggest we run. The big one won’t be too far away,” she said, simply. She turned to look at Anna, her amber eyes meeting with her own. “So, I’m stuck babysitting you, hmm,” she muttered, more to herself than to Anna. “Look, just run. You...” she said, pointing a claw at Ryouta. “Take the girl and get out of here. Got it?”

"That would be counterproductive" Valt answered the Black Tailmon after kicking the attacking Bakemon. "We have no idea if there any wild Digimon out there... And it looks like that it'll be as counterproductive as staying in Adult stage like this. We should instead break through and get out of this place. Aniki, next stage!"
Ryouta, finally after calming down somewhat, immediately pressed the button for the second time. His D-Nexus shook fiercely, letting out blinding blast of light.
"XVmon, chou shinka!"
Another ring appeared above Valt. A crest descended from it at the same time another ring appeared below him. Valt's body disintegrated into data and the crest immediately lodged itself in the middle of the data storm. The two rings immediately spun and rendered the wireframe of the new form. From the bottom, the wireframe produced XVmon with massive red wings, a touch of black on its body, and golden armor. The face armor is fitted into his XVmon snout.
"Magnamon!"
Valt tossed the girl at Ryouta who catch her swiftly.. "We'll make run for it!" He focused energy on his palms and concentrated it. "Photon, GALE!!"
Valt did not waste his time to check whether the ghost storm dissipated or not. He instead grabbed both the Black Tailmon and Ryouta and flew to the nearest opening, hopefully enough to escape from this place.
