Friday night in Shibuya was, to me, the epitome of a good time. The nightlife would be loud and bustling, the Entertainment District would be stuffed to the gills with people, and the best part of all was that it was only the start of the weekend; the best part of the week, if you ask me.
Anyways, I just came home after a long day at work, as per usual. Days where both me and my dad had to go to work were also days Skadi could have the house all to herself. And most of the time she would spend it by either watching TV or sleeping. Or at least, that's what she tells me often. And as I came home from work (dad was busy at a meeting at the time) and unlocked the door, I came in to see Skadi napping on the couch with Netflix blaring. Again. As as per usual, I went and nudged my roommate awake with a small shove of my hand.
Stretching herself out with a yawn, Skadi gave a small smile to me as she looked over to me. "Oh. Afternoon, Kenny." She said, "I heard you were going out tonight."
"Yeah. I'm gonna go see that new Bohemian Rhapsody movie. Dad's said he's seen it and it's pretty good." I said, as I pulled on my jacket, "You want to see it too?"
"Well, I've never seen a human world movie before, so yeah, I'd like to go see it with you, Kenny." Skadi replied, as she pulled herself up onto the chair to sit herself down properly like if she gulped down a whole jug of coffee just a few minutes earlier
"Heh. Great to hear that." I chuckled, as I bent down and ruffled Skadi's hair, eliciting a big grin (and a little playful flinching) from her, "But here's the thing. I don't think they allow cats into cinemas, so I think if you want to see it, you're gonna have to pretend you're a plushie if you want to see it."
"That, or you could put me in your backpack while in my holosuit, if it works for you." She joked.
"Heh. I could." I quipped back at her. "Just hope the cinema doesn't have CCTV cameras. Actually, let's just stick with the plushie idea. Think that would be more believable." I let out a small chuckle before I sat onto the other side of the couch, pulling out my phone to check the time. "The movie doesn't start until 7:30." It was 5:00PM, "I oughta get going in a minute."
But before I could say anything, Skadi climbed onto my back and looked over my shoulder. "Actually, you still have time," the lamb Digimon noted, pointing at the time on my phone, "You wanna do something first?"
"Well," I shrugged, as I pulled Skadi off my back and plonked her back onto the couch, "I could play with you for a bit before we go out, Skadi. You want to play some Smash Bros?" I said as I pulled out my Switch and put it in the dock. Hey, it wouldn't hurt to play with Skadi for a bit, I figured. I had been practising for a bit while I had some time to myself, so maybe Skadi wouldn't tease me about using Incineroar anymore.
"I'd love to!" Skadi cried, her fists clenched in excitement. God, how much would I give to have some of her never ending supply of enthusiasm, "But please tell me you're not gonna use Incineroar tonight! You're rubbish as him!" The cheek of her! It's not my fault Incineroar's up b is completely horseshit! Because it is!
"Holy shit, Skadi," I moaned in response, albeit with a small smirk I swear to God Skadi somehow managed to spot, "I'm not rubbish as Incineroar! Incineroar's up b is rubbish."
"Then why do I keep kicking your butt every time I play Incineroar then?" Skadi replied with a 'gotcha' look on her face.
"I... well... you..."
"I thought so." Skadi replied with a smile. "Now are we gonna play or what, Kenny? We're burning daylight here!"
"Heh, OK fine." I replied, as I turned on the TV and got my pro controllers out for the both of us. It would be fun for the both of us to kill time before I had to go out.

A few quick rounds of Smash Ultimate later...

6:00PM
Skadi slumped back into her chair as the announcer announced me (playing Incineroar) the winner. I smiled at Skadi and ruffled her hair again as I said "Heh. Good game Skadi.."
Re-positioning herself back to normal, Skadi gave me a smile back, "You too Kenny. I can't believe you actually got better at Incineroar. I'm impressed. That was actually pretty cool."
"Aww, thanks man." I grinned, rubbing my hand against my head. Yeah, Skadi may be a little cheeky at times, but we both knew at the end of the day both of us love each other like a brother and sister close with one another. Platonically of course. Actually, there was one thing I wanted to tell Skadi:
"Hey, actually Skadi. I have to admit, you're actually pretty good at this game"
"Aw come on, Kenny, you're just saying that." She giggled in response.
"Of course not, you silly lamb! In fact, I think you're amazing." I just had to tell her how I felt about her at this point, "You're funny, you know how to make me laugh, you have a big heart, and you're always ready to protect us from whatever danger comes our way!"
This time it was Skadi's turn to rub her hand behind her head and chuckle in embarrassment, her cheeks glowing a light red, "Awwww... thank you Kenny. But I'm not that great."
"Don't be silly, man." I nudged her lightly, "You're very optimistic, you're very kind, and you always manage to put a smile on my face, no matter how much of a bad day I may have had. You know, I couldn't have asked for a better Digimon partner."
Slowly, Skadi proceeded to nudge herself towards me, her butt still rooted onto the seat. "And I couldn't have asked for a better tamer myself!" And with that, she threw herself towards me, arms outstretched, giving me a big hug, while also almost knocking me over. I blushed a deeper red but smiled as I bent down and hugged her back.
"Heh. Thank you, Skadi." I told her, smiling as I ruffled her hair once again during our hug. As we broke up, we smiled at each other once again, before I pulled out my phone. It was now time to go.
"So you ready to go now, Skadi?" I said, as I pulled out my D-3 Digivice.
"As ready as I'll ever be!" She said with her well know optimistic grin I grew used to.
"Great. Remember what I said, OK? Just pretend you're a plush toy I won at the arcade, and we'll be fine." She nodded happily as I activated the V-Pet function and her body started to convert into data the Digivice absorbed before she disappeared. Putting my Digivice back into my bag, turning off the TV and putting the Switch on sleep mode, before I put it my case and into my backpack, I walked out the door and out into the streets.
Yeah, Skadi can be pretty silly at times, but if you ask me, I admire her spirit. She still quite young, and very spirited too. And you know what? I wasn't lying when I said that I couldn't have asked for a better Digimon partner, because she really is amazing. She may be cheeky at times, and even quite of a dink as well, but she's my Digimon partner, and to be honest with you...
I wouldn't have it any other way.
