The General only joined the conversation once he noticed the tones had become hushed and the meeting spot began to move. Something was up. "Follow me, captain."
"Yes, sir. Lieutenant!" Jetmon perked up in answer to Commandramon's bark. "You're in charge of the cleanup crew."
"Sir!" Anyone who wasn't one of Silence's top two members was busy doing whatever they could to assist repair efforts. Why shouldn't they, after all? They didn't detect the threat right under their noses - literally - that caused this mess in the first place, and sitting around never did suit any of them.
"So that's the twist this time." Of course Tadayoshi knew this was coming. It was always something. They were never fully forthcoming, never honest. Always something to hide. Sometimes the team found out eventually, and sometimes they didn't. At least this time they weren't accidentally aiding slavers or something. "I suppose you couldn't tell us. For all you knew, your third party wanted to plant someone in your test team and sabotage you from there as well."
"My team was put in more danger for this deception." Commandramon crossed his arms and scowled. So what if he had expected something? The center of the group apparently didn't take kindly to deliberate understatement of the threat. "And I didn't hear anything about the backup plan if we had been caught flatfooted."
"But we still did something good today. If we weren't here, this shelter might not still be standing. We can agree that's still a good thing." The soldier didn't appear completely convinced. "What do you think?"
Commandramon needed a moment to consider. "We won't work for you anymore," the captain decided, "unless we have your word you will be completely forthcoming from here out... and a twenty percent increase in our reward."
